We kicked ass this semester! My classes had a higher success rate than my usual face to face classes and we might have accomplished more in terms of using sources. Check your School email for emergency messages from your instructors up until 5 pm Mon. 12/14/20. You never know when it could save your hide.

This is a first telling of a personal natural narrative. I was compelled to tell this story because of a colleague who asked me to explain why I might care about Missing and Exploited Women and Children as part of the Indian Knowledge Western Education project. The subject might have been indigenous, but this happened in the mid 90's in the Far East. This story addresses prostitution and human trafficking, so Not Safe for Work.
This week we talk with Samira Hussein, Professor of Business at JCCC and advisor to the Muslim Student Association. We discuss in no particular order her immigration from Pakistan, her earlier career as a psychologist, and her thoughts on the role, meaning, and importance of diversity in a college setting.
Some explanation about expectations on final formal edited work, and an analogy to explain the Professors' requirements, which some students sometimes think is arbitrary . This probably floated to the top of my mind with the death this week of Eddie Van Halen - but it's a lesson I've talked about for years, and draws from the time I spent working as a roadie. A note of clarification on feedback (it doesn't work if you don't REVISE your paper after getting feedback.) There is NO REASON to go to multiple sources for feedback if you don't make changes and adjustments each time you get feedback. You dont have to take every comment or suggestion and act on it, but you have to make that choice before searching out new feedback.

My sabbatical during Corona left me out of the Zoom boom loop. The last 2 weeks have been a crash course. This pod presents my meta-zoom observations, and examines the sometimes resistent engagement of both the presenters and audiences.
We picked up speaking pace because 1) podcast players allow students to adjust speed of playback, 2) as in disc golf, I make fewer mistakes when I don't slow down and over think, and 3) I've noticed many popular podcasters and youtubers present material fast. Saves time, and New Yorkers get lost when I use my midwestern drawl. Let me know what you think. I used the built in laptop mike and edited with Audacity.
