In the 2nd letter to the Thessalonians Paul gives great detail of a man he calls the Man of Lawlessness and Son of Destruction. He is coming to pose as humanity's God and oppose every so called god. This is the first part of a series of episodes exposing Paul's profile of the Lawless One.
The Apostle Paul teaches there are severe consequences for those that take pleasure in unrighteousness and reject the truth. While God will supply faith to the faithful, He will also supply the antithesis for the lawless. A strong delusion will glue the lawless to the Lawless One. At the same time, the saints will overcome the world as faith anchors them in the Truth of Christ.
The Apostle Paul connects the Great Apostasy with the Abomination of Desolation. He connects it with one word: lawlessness. Here lies the key of Satan's end-time agenda to destroy the image of God and desecrate the human frame. The Apostle Paul tells the Thessalonians to expect a final rebellion at the end of the age. Paul writes in his 2nd letter to the Thessalonians of two things to expect before Jesus appears and gathers the church. This episode explores the first part of Paul's teaching regarding the rebellion otherwise known as the great apostasy.
Paul wanted to make sure the faith of the Thessalonians was supplied with everything they needed to abound in love under persecution. To equip them, Paul taught them about the End-Times. We would be wise to consider just how seriously Paul took eschatology and learn from what he taught the Thessalonians.
If we get Matthew 24 wrong we will end up very confused. But if we understand that Jesus was teaching about 2 events separated by thousands of years Matthew 24 is very simple to understand. This is my attempt to simplify Jesus' teaching on the Mount of Olives.
