Every relationship presents an opportunity for growth, but growth is a personal decision we make that no one else can control. In this episode, I discuss people I call "potential seekers" & the nature of this behavior. When we don't learn healthy boundaries in childhood, we don't develop a strong sense of self. Without a strong sense of self, we aren't able to see the people we become attached to as separate, personally responsible individuals with their own will, on their own life journey. We see them more as extensions of ourselves, & treat them as such...which makes us prone to forming codependent relationships with similarly wounded individuals, where we are trying to realize our own undeveloped potential through putting effort into another person's development instead of our own. We are bound to experience disappointment in relationships until we learn to see people as they currently are & consciously choose to invest in ourselves.
In this episode, I explore the issue of betrayal. I discuss betrayal of oneself and betrayal of others, with its roots in our early childhood experiences. I mention how betrayal can be prevented through prioritizing self-connection and establishing a secure sense of self.
In this episode, I discuss the experience of authentic understanding—which is deeply rooted in empathy and ultimately stems from the relationship we have with ourselves.
In this episode, I discuss the role of the more introverted person in society, and how a balance of introverted and extroverted tendencies is needed for us to realize our full potential as human beings.
