Spiritual discernment is:- a process that takes place in and through the Trinity- an impulse that needs cultivation- a deep belief in the goodness of God- a conviction that love for God / self / others / the world- committing to doing the will of God as it is revealed to us
To discern Gods unique will for us individually or corporately we need Him to communicate to us. Gods communication is to draw us to Him and ask us to trust Him in accomplishing His will.
The key to a productive and satisfying Christian life is not in getting more from God but in giving all that we are and have to Him. There are some things you need to regularly remember if you are going to be spiritually victorious. Peter says, "Don't forget..."
It is important that you become mature in your faith. You need this maturity if you are going to protect yourself from false teachers

This is an analysis of the times, condition prior to the global catastrophic flood. Anti-God behaviours, observations from the Lord, and in the midst there is a man who found grace in His eyes. What can we understand from this passage of Scripture, looking at our times today?

Isaiah confronted Judah (and Israel) about their sin. He stated this is the reason for the judgements. Now he promises 'the return', where God and His people will dwell together again. He will gather His people from every corner of this world. This is not just a promise for Israel. It is a promise for you and I
Some people think the teaching of the Millennium (1000 year year reign of Christ on Earth) is only found in the book of Revelation. Actually it is a major theme in the book of Isaiah. In fact, as you are reading through Isaiah you will suddenly realize he transports you from the present to a future age. His prophecies are filled with promise.
Interspersed throughout Isaiah's writings are a variety of songs (Psalms). Four of them are called the "Servant Songs". Isaiah 53 is Isaiah's most well known 'Servant Song'. Did you know this passage had disturbed the Jewish people for centuries?
Isaiah predicts an event that will occur over 100 years after his death - the coming of Babylon. He also will predict the return and restoration of Israel from Babylon. In these chapters one will find hope during time of discouragement
Babylon, a small city state, north of Israel, that was under the control of Assyria. They hear about a miracle in Judah and send 'envoys' to investigate it. Hezekiah welcomes them with open arms. Sadly this will not turn out well for Judah.

If you were in a crisis, and you didn't know what to do, who would you call? Where would you get your advice? God sends His prophet, with an answer to Ahaz's problem. Surprisingly, Ahaz says "No thanks, I can figure this out myself!
Isaiah is not a historical textbook written in chronological order. Rather it starts off with a Lawsuit, in which God is taking Judah to court, in order to 'sue' them for breach of His covenant. He is the prosecuting Lawyer and "Boy, does he have a strong case..."
There is something about one's call that defines a person. Isaiah is shown a spectacular vision, and then volunteers to be "God's man". He would take on the 'office' of a prophet. This would be a very hard, very frustrating, ministry.
Why read Isaiah? He wrote over 2800 years ago. It was another time, another world and another place. What has this to do with you and I? Well, Isaiah wrote numerous verses that you read regularly. He also wrote prophecies about events about to happen today
Ruth had to make a choice - to relocate, to find refuge, and to seek her redeemer. Boaz honourably became her Kinsman Redeemer.How can you see Jesus in this passage? How will making this connection affect your understanding of His Word, His Faithfulness?

All of us have a war going on in our minds. The enemy is constantly planting lies and distorted thoughts until we don't know what to believe. How do we stop these thoughts from spinning out of control? How does one take a 'thought captive' and make it obedient to Jesus Christ?

Certain individuals had given up their jobs, so they could be ready for Jesus' return (as if location mattered). Paul ends with one final rebuke.
Don't let the opinions of the foolish mislead you. Before Christ comes, the Spirit will cease restraining, a major rebellion will take place and a "man of lawlessness" will rise up. As these things draw near, you are called to 'stand'.
Persecution was a daily reality for these new Christians. If it wasn't the Jews, then it was the Greeks and Romans. For those who touch His church, God will bring justice
Paul concludes with a long list of practical advice ranging from how you should live personally to how you should act in the church and in the world.
Are you living a life that is anticipating Christ's return. The world will not expect it, but the Christian should. Prepare for the "Day of the Lord"
In this passage Paul gives us a unique teaching of Christ's secret return. It comes out of a question about death, but leads to a picture of victory
Like a Father who pulls his son aside, or a mother who has a serious talk with her daughter, Paul gives us practical guidelines on how to live out their faith in a world filled with unholiness
Have you ever worried about your children? Have you ever been anxious for them when they are far away? Paul worries for this new church.
How do you live a life that is "worthy of God" (vs. 12)? Are you living a life that reflect the love of the Father and the sacrifice of the Son?
What does a true messenger - approved by GOD - look like? How do they speak and act? Paul reflects on his ministry among the Thessalonians.
Paul begins with a memory; a reminder of how their spiritual birth and growth began. How the Thessalonians turned from idols to GOD.
How long does it take to start a church? This one took only three weeks. And then Satan rallied mobs against it. And yet it stood. What was about this church that kept it thriving through constant persecution?

Long before he actually dies, Samuel says good-bye to the people of Israel. Like Moses and Joshua before him he wants the people to remain faithful to the Lord. He even uses a visual effect to make his point
1 Sam. 28:1-25; Lk. 24:37-39This is one of the strangest stories in the Old Testament. Samuel, who has died, is brought back to talk with Saul through a medium. Was this a 'ghost' (disembodied spirit)? Are they walking around today?
In this passage we meet the most well known and loved man in all of Scripture. He was a man of courage and strength, but also a lover of music, writing over 73 Psalms (songs). Re-visit the calling of King David.
What do you do with a proud, defiant man who repeatedly sins and then fakes remorse and repentance? Saul has moved from a shy, reserved young man to an arrogant, boastful hypocrite. What will Samuel do?

Does God Change? Does He listen to His people, consider their requests and then change His mind? Come study on of the most surprising events found in the Old Testament - when God lets the people have a King?
What happens when God's people repent of their sins and return to Him? In this passage we find Samuel leading the people of Israel in a spiritual revival. Immediately their new faith was tested.
Numbers 32:23 says "Beware your sins will find you out."There is a myth many Believers assume - that God will not do anything about their sins. They live as if there will be no consequences to their actions. Come meet Eli's sons.
Samuel would be called a "Seer" or a Prophet. Samuel had to learn to listen to God. Are you like Samuel? Have you never heard from the Lord?
God just didn't seem to be listening to Hannah! Or at least that is what she thought. The reality was that, long before she even asked for a son, God had plans for both her and Samuel. These plans would spiritually impact the entire nation of Israel, and later through the line of David, the whole world.
How are we living each day of the week? Is our faith just on Sunday, or are we living, breathing, talking, walking GOD all the time? Are we listening to His commands for us?

Neither Matthew or John even mention it. Mark makes only a brief comment. Luke answers everyone's question: Where is Jesus now?

Jesus now begins to state that He and His gospel are distinct from those who were just religious. The opposition against Him intensifies
Jesus' ministry was exploding. He sent out more disciples to tell people He is coming. As they went, they went in His power. Jesus clearly stated that this ministry must be motivated by love.
As His ministry increased, people began to figure out who Jesus is. In this passage an amazing revelation takes place.
