The shortlist for the 2017 Turner Prize has just been announced with four artists in the running for one of the best known prizes for visual arts in the world.
British painter Hurvin Anderson’s work comments on the current political sphere questioning identity and belonging.
German born Andrea Büttner uses video and woodcuts exploring religion, morality and ethics.
African artist and professor Lubaina Himid works across painting, installation, drawing and printmaking, questioning personal and political identity.
From Croydon via Glasgow Rosalind Nashashibi examines scenes of war through video and surveillance images.
The winner will be announced on 5th December and will receive £25,000 with £5,000 each for the other artists. The Turner Prize 2017 shortlisted artists exhibition runs from 26th September – 7th January at Ferens Art Gallery in Hull.

Benjamin Murphy gets set to open a new solo show entitled 'Gilded Chaos' at the Beer Contemporary gallery in Old Street showcasing his brightest and most colourful collection today.
The images are all still made from his signature black electrical tape stuck onto white canvasses and white walls yet this time we're seeing more floral designs working their way into the art.
The framed pieces make their way off the canvas and encroach onto the walls around them, as the show fully takes over the space and creates an evolving journey of discovery. The keenest of observers will have to be particularly astute to find hidden and subliminal messaging referencing recent musical headlines.

A secret all night house rave sweeps into Shoreditch on Saturday 7th November as Root Down UK meets Mind Fluid for a party of epic proportions.
Rainer Truby goes back to back with Kev Beadle playing body shaking beats spanning soul, boogie, jazz, funk, Latin and house.

London Cru are the capitals first urban based winery, using grapes from the continent they create a delicious range of reds and whites which you can buy from their shop in West Brompton.

The Jaffle Iron serve Jaffles, which is what the Aussie’s call toasties. But it isn’t any old toastie like the ones going around London at the moment . What they do is the traditional, nostalgic, sealed pockets filled with awesome fillings, sweet and savoury. So over in Australia one of the classics is tinned spaghetti. They've taken that and taken it to the next level and made home-made spaghetti bolognese, with meat balls and they toast and cover the bread with garlic butter, so it is a bolongnese in a sandwich. That was a best seller last week at Hoxton, but people love the Plica, which is a more sweet one with chocolate, marshmallow, and digestive biscuits. It all melts and goes gooey, it’s ridiculous! This is their second trade at Hoxton and trying to get all around London. They started when they were in Australia for the last two or three years when travelling around. Then, they saw these sandwiches and thought they were perfect for London, something really different to everyone else. You just see a lot of Falafels, paellas and that sort of thing and taking it to different direction.
My name is Anthony, and I work for Shades Caterers. We do like Caribbean food; jerk chicken, curried goat, Ox Tail stew, fried chicken, rice and peas, plain rice, we do the lot. We’ve been here for 19 years. Yeah this year will make 19 years we’ve been here. We’re quite popular, most people come for the Jerk Chicken, and barbecue chicken. Most people smell that and need a taste of that.
The fastest and tastiest chicken wraps can be found at Zre, a food stall run by Croatian born Ivan. Zre serve homemade produce such as burgers, kofta wraps and spicy chicken. Each week they do something different on the menu by adding healthy items such as humus wraps and rainbow salad baguettes. They aim to give people more choices to enjoy in different ways, serving polish sausage one week and croatian pancakes the next. They like to try and introduce foods from different backgrounds to explore the palette of the people at the market. For Hoxton's best deep fried balls, El Tel’s Fine Falfal has a no nonsense menu with the freshest ingredients. You can choose from three sizes, Peckish, Hungry or Marvin and add a little extra humus on the side for 50p. The Falafal's are all freshly made at the kitchen in the morning and set up for sale between 12.00am-3.30pm. The stall do a Monday to Friday run and have been there for three years. Although starting up was steady, they now have lots of regular customers who keep coming back. The changing face of the area has meant the stall is getting busier and here at Hoxton they are truly on the map.
Pagemon and Becky are the couple behind House of Dodo, a Mauritian street food stall. The traders got off to a flying start due to the interest in the rare cuisine.The stalls top selling dish is slow cooked beef, cooked in a mix of Mauritian spices served with rice, pickles and cucumber salad. The couple agree that Hoxton has the strongest community feel from all the markets they trade at and always look forward to serving their food to the visitors and locals they come across each week.
Mr Chef Rahman is run by Stosh, a passionate YouTuber whose mission is to teach people how to cook. The stall has been set up to support his endeavour to get more people making food for themselves. Their top selling item is their onion bhaji wrap because of it's excellent taste and friendly price. Stosh loves the atmosphere and community feel at the market and hopes it will continue to grow.

I’m Gianluca; this is 12ft box. We do classic Italian food – to be more precise, it’s southern Italian. Our menu is divided into three parts: Neapolitan street food classics, pastas, and gourmet sandwiches. All the ingredients are imported from Italy and it’s a very researched cuisine – come and give it a shot! We’ve been here in Hoxton for 2 weeks. So far it’s been great. We have some exposure, there’s nice people, and a nice crowd.
My name’s Kim and I’ve got pet supplies at N1 Pets. This is my third week. It’s good when the weather’s nice; when it’s windy it’s not so good. I wanted a shop, but shops are quite expensive to rent, so I thought start small and get a stall out. It’s about helping people with their problems with their pets. I know quite a lot about animals and if people need advice I like to be able to point them in the right direction.
My name’s Karen and the stall is Marsh Produce. We sell meats, we’ve got our own farm, its fresh, free-range, locally reared meat and we bring it up every week. It’s how farming should be. Some of my bestsellers are the sausages, because our flavors are quite unique – for example, we have a Piña Colada sausage, Rhubarb and Ginger, Pork and Peanut, and we don’t just do pork, we do beef and lamb and sometimes chicken as well. It’s a good market, it’s a buzzy market – it’s built up really well, it’s a good market for us. Someone always asks me for something really unusual every single week. I could write a book on some of the funny things I’ve been asked for.
My name’s Phil and I run a falafel business called the Chic Pea. I’ve been here for about 6 weeks now. I love it; I like the area. There are a lot of characters around here, there’s a real nice community atmosphere, a nice vibe. There’s this one guy in particular, who comes past everyday and he says like, “What’ve you got?”, and I’m like, “Well falafels, again, same as every day”. Then he asks, “Have you not got any chicken?” and I’m like, “No, no, no, I haven’t got any chicken it’s all vegetarian”, and then he asks, “Have you got any beef?” And he comes back the next day and does the exact same thing again.
I sell secondhand goods and jewellery. I’ve been coming here since my mum took the stall, which was about 32 years ago. I used to help her on Saturdays. She got ill two years ago and I took over. I have nothing but fond memories of the market – it was a lot busier then. The community then was a bit tighter than it is now, but it’s still going. It’s a good market, fond memories and it’s a very windy street, as you can tell, so we’ve had instances where the stalls have actually flown across or my mum’s been sitting on it to keep it from flying over.
Fashion blogger, style icon and star of Ladies of London Juliet Angus was meant to come into the studios for the Hoxton Fashion Show but unfortunately got caught up in London traffic and was too fashionably late to make it in before 12. Luckily, Lilah and the gang were able to catch her on their way out from Hackney Downs Studios for a quick interview.

Fifty Two Social’s first foray into pop-ups is launching tonight on Kingsland Road. Chopsticks of Fury is an Asian street-food inspired restaurant by the foodie pair behind The Grocery supermarket. We sent our journalintern Imogen Comrie down to meet with the pair to assess their Asian creation. She found out that as well as tasty food they promise ‘fun, happiness and fulfilment’… You can’t get much better than that!
