Press Release: Trend setting Canadian label My Favorite Robot is all ready to offer up some scorching summer sounds in the form of their tidy three track sampler EP. It features three hot artists and a trio of cuts that fit in perfectly with their singular MO.
Swiss outfit Animal Trainer, of labels like Hive Audio and Still Vor Talent and others, go first. Their excellent ‘Aeron’ track is their first ever on this label and is a walloping great house cut with huge rubber kicks, spin tingling melodies and the sort of oversized bassline that will thoroughly destroy dance floors this summer. It is a patient, cosmic tinged track with a subtle sense of tension and release that really sweeps you up.
Next up is Italian producer and DJ, Slok, who has been churning out beats for almost twenty years. In that time he has amassed credits on plenty of top labels including One Records, Circle Music and of course MFRR and has previously enlisted the MFR production outfit to provide vocals on his music. Here we find him in a doleful deep house mood with sombre chords laid over slick beats on ‘Dreamachine’. It is a spaced out and hypnotic track that will allow for lots of introspective moments.
Finally, Valencia talent Darlyn Vlys is a prolific producer who has been active for five years but has already released more than ten EPs on all sorts of labels like Avotre, Terminal M and Suara. His ‘Butterfly’ track is eerie and haunted, with wide open spaces sucking you in. Thin pads, starry melodies and groaning bass all make for epic listening as you are trapped in the middle of it all and this one is perfect for dead of the night moments of pure emotion.
This summer sampler offers up a hat trick of class club hits that remind us just why My Favorite Robot is one of the most talked about labels of the day.

Tales Of The Night is our new series of double A-side singles from 2 different producers. Be it then original tracks or remixes, the series only highlights those one-off productions which does not fit into an EP concept, nor do they do justice on a full blown compilation. The first series takes 2 fairly different producers under the loop, both offering their best work to date.
SLOK aka Alessandro Russo from Italy, who is known from his productions on My Favorite Robot and One Records, drops with ‘Box Six’ his trademark long evolving workouts with hypnotic synths and a mean bassline.
ROIS aka Florian Hirsche is a Berlin based you producer who surprised us with an amazing demo which lead to signing of ‘The Shore’. First planned to be only mixed by Sasse at Blackhead Studios, one thing lead to another and the tune was signed to Moodmusic.
Both tracks are road-tested and have been creating some beautiful moments on dance floors around the world.

Italian producer Alessandro Russo aka SLOK has been on an ever-evolving rise to fame over the past eight or so years, racking up releases on some of underground electronic music’s well-respected labels, namely, Get Physical Music, Moodmusic, My Favorite Robot, and Turbo Recordings. As well as running his, Electronic Petz imprint, a label, which delivers fresh contemporary house cuts, and has introduced many newcomers onto the scene.
The original mix of title cut, ‘Durian’, kicks things off here, a dark and brooding number, employing punchy, raw drums, cavernous background atmospherics, crunchy saw-wave bass and bubbling vocal lines, to create a tripped out gritty house number. The Ultrasone duo, notably known for their work on Visionquest and Supplement Facts, rework ‘Durian’ into a low-slung ethereal workout next, stripping back the vibe with sparse, soft, and jazzy drums, while a hooky organ and whispering pads add a soulful, deep texture to the record, as expected the reshape is emotive and melodically stunning.
Up next is the second original cut from SLOK, entitled ‘Keep Moving’, a great follow up from the Ultrasone mix as Russo delves into a minimalistic vibe himself this time. Simple 4/4 beats lay in the background, while rolling sub bass tones, elongated echoes and sporadic synth sweeps run alongside murmuring low-pitched vocals, again resulting in a moody dance-floor ready house record. In a time when big labels are being flooded with demos from anyone who’s ever had a dalliance with Ableton or Logic, the idea of starting one’s own label and releasing music independently is becoming increasingly important. Someone who knows this all too well is Italian artist SLOK (AKA Alessandro Russo), a musician who has been involved in the industry for quite some time, falling in love with music at a very early age and following his heart to become a fully-fledged recording artist.
However, despite building up a strong reputation and releases on well-respected labels such as My Favorite Robot, One Records, Get Physical, Turbo, Baroque and plenty more besides SLOK had has to battle against the ever-increasing tide of music that is currently saturating the market. So, in time old underground traditional, has gone back to basics for his latest release choosing his own label Electronic Petz as the home for his new EP.
Following the label’s last release, a superlative V/A simply called Electronic Petz Vol.5, SLOK decided to inject his passion for music into a solo outing. Deciding that the label name should never be a vehicle for an artist’s work, SLOK has chosen to release "The Underground" / "Discoring" just before Volume 6 of his Various Artists series on Electronic Petz. Both tracks have been conceived, composed, mixed and mastered by SLOK himself, who has learned all aspects of production through his years in the game, and both tracks epitomise all that is great about today’s flourishing underground scene - deep, rugged and carry an energy that will rock dancefloors worldwide.
Following the release of this new two-tracker, SLOK will launch a residency, holding regular label nights in his current hometown, Paris. The first event takes place on April 13 with Michelle Owen (soon to release on Electronic Petz) and The RealBirds as special guests.
