When Ben Sperling arrived at Stern in 2019, he had already made a mark on the world. He had taught high school math as a Teach for America fellow and then, motivated by what he saw in his school, went on to found a non-profit, Next Generation Men & Women, to help close the opportunity gap for under-resourced students. Susan Kornfeld, second year MBA student at NYU Stern, was born with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss in both ears. Over the years, Susan has become an advocate for the hearing loss community and has formed an advocacy and outreach group called Hear Me Out which is focused on fostering a stronger community and support network for those who suffer from hearing loss.
