Summary: Let’s use this time for entering into Resurrection that Jesus freely offers us. And, Resurrection is not simply going back to life as we knew it before. Resurrection is when we hear the Voice of the Good Shepherd, and we not only rise but—like the first disciples, like sheep hearing their shepherd—we run to a new life with Jesus!

Summary: Lesson #5 from Jesus comes today: The destination of our Earthly pilgrimage is resurrection and eternal life in Heaven. It can be very easy to lose sight of our hoped-for destination. When we lose sight or forget about it, that’s when we can make wrong decisions. That’s when we are tempted to choose false things, to settle for things that are less than Heaven. Each year, our Lenten Pilgrimage comes along to help us turn back to God and set our sights anew on our hoped-for destination of resurrection and eternal life with God in Heaven.

When we hear about His loving acts of redemption in the Sacred Scriptures…we hear Jesus for ourselves. When we receive the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist…we are nourished by Jesus and are united with Him in a most intense and intimate way. Here in this church, on this holy night, in this Holy Mass is where we hear and see Jesus for ourselves; and we are strengthened in our belief that we do find Him in our lives. Summary: The Lord Jesus wants to be our King and our Savior. But He can’t be either for us unless we acknowledge Him as both. Unless we give Him permission to be both. Unless we spend time in prayer with Him; follow His commandments; and accept His grace, mercy, and healing in the Sacraments—especially Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
If you are willing and ready to accept Jesus as your Savior and your King, please pray this prayer:

Summary: When we are attached to any deadly sins (greed, envy, pride, etc.), then our view of reality is distorted. When we don’t have resurrection always in our view, then it makes sense to acquire as much as we can. And it makes sense to use other people and to seek status in this world. Summary: One of the difficult lessons for us as humans to learn is that we can certainly pray for physical healings, but to keep in mind that spiritual healings are primary. Spiritual healings and growth in Faith are much more necessary. The Gospels relate how Jesus went around healing many people, but the Catechism points out to us that “He did not heal all the sick.”6 Rather, Jesus’ physical healings were meant to increase Faith—they were a sign “of the coming Kingdom of God.” They were a sign of a much more radical, much more important healing: that is, the healing God offers us through Jesus Christ’s victory over sin and death.

Summary: As we begin to venture into those chasms and divides in our life, let us remember that we don’t do this alone; and we aren’t blindly jumping off a cliff. No, when we venture into these chasms, we find Jesus waiting for us there. Summary: When we experience trials and sufferings, one mistake is to believe that God is somehow "punishing" us. We may not know in this lifetime why we are experience sometimes extreme suffering. But what we do know is that suffering and physical evil is not the end of the story. While God does not necessarily give us an "answer" -- he gives us himself. In our suffering, we are joined to Christ's own sufferings on the cross, and he carries us through it.

Summary: The two great themes in scripture, is the theme of "The Journey" and "The Meal". In the Eucharist, we see these two come together. Summary: In the Gospel reading today, we read about Jesus and the miracle of feeding the multitude of 5,000 men with only five loaves and the two fish. As some theologians have observed -- In Luke's Gospel we see Jesus either going to a meal, at a meal, coming from a meal, or talking about a meal! The Eucharist meal is the central sacrament that is prefigured by these various "meal" events in the Gospels. Summary: Palm Sunday begins with a series of readings from the Gospel of Luke - beginning in Luke 19 with the procession of Jesus on a colt into the city of Jerusalem, and ending with His crucifixion in Luke 23.
Jesus comes as a sign of God's love for the whole human race. In coming down to meet us in our sin and brokenness, Christ not only experiences the physical sufferings of Roman-style crucifixion, but even the emotional suffering as he his rejected by those he has come to save.

Summary: The Lenten season is a call to examine our lives in light of Christ's love for us. Summary: At the turn of the 19th and 20th century, numerous well-known thinkers, writers and social activists found their way into the Catholic Church: People like John Henry Newman, G.K. Chesterton, Dorothy Day, Graham Greene and others.
One of these was the former atheist and poet Gerard Manley Hopkins, who later became a Jesuit priest. One time, his atheist friend Robert Bridges asked him: "How can I believe?" To which Hopkins give a surprisingly simple, non-academic answer: "Give alms!"
He didn't mean we could earn our way to heaven by our good works -- but that because God Himself contains the mystery of purest love, goodness and mercy -- to enter into acts of charity and service is to begin to get a glimpse of the kind of purposeful life God intends for us.
The lives of the saints remind us that they all expressed their faith through visible acts of stewardship. So too, our lives should be marked by an active stewardship as a worshipful response to God.

Summary: The point of the Christian life is not to demand God conform to our desires, but rather -- to shape our own desires to conform to HIS will. It is not: "Do this for me, God", but rather: "Speak Lord, for your servant is listening". What this means is that only when we when we lay down our egos, and let go of our grasping for comfort or power, can God then conform us to His image. We only become great when we first become less!

Summary: In two of the Scripture readings today, we read about two different men who follow completely different paths. In the first story, the man considers riches to be nothing compared to finding Wisdom. In the second reading, we see a rich, young man -- in fact, quite religious -- who has kept all the commandments, but has become so attached to his wealth that he is saddened at the thought of giving it up. In this story, the man thinks he is "just fine" in doing all the right religious duties -- but Jesus calls him to something deeper: A real, relationship with Himself, which involves a complete abandonment of the man's attachments to things, and to his own sense of security.

Summary: The whole of human history could be summed up as the use and misuse of power and it's acquisition and it's giving up. The ultimate example of power is Christ himself, who pours himself out in sacrifice on behalf of our sin. He lays his own life down so that we may live.
God himself shares his power - He allows his church to participate in his work by empowering us through gifts of the Holy Spirit, which leads us and strengthens us to do his work. This is beautifully expressed in our Catholic faith through not only the power of sacramental grace done through the work of the ministerial priesthood, but also the works of mercy and evangelization done through the WHOLE Church (clergy and lay people alike)

Summary: Sometimes Catholics are accused of teaching a false gospel of "works" -- the idea that we can somehow earn our salvation. Quite the contrary, we believe the gospel is a gospel of Grace -- because we can do nothing apart from him. Grace is what puts us into a right relationship with God, and is applied to us through the sacrament of baptism and through our faith (trust) in Him. But our faith is made real and evident (or consummated) through works of love, as the Epistle of James reminds us. These "works" are not our own (as if we can boast of our own righteousness) -- but Christ's work done through us!

Summary: The belief in the Real presence of Christ in the Eucharist is core to our Catholic belief, and is rooted in the Apostolic faith of the Church going back to the very beginning. The miracle at each and every mass is that Christ himself shows up! The physical realism of the Eucharist is as shocking of an idea as it was to the disciples in John 6 when he refers to himself as "Bread from Heaven", and instructs them to "Eat his Flesh" and "Drink his Blood". The visible/material Sacrament of the Eucharist is the means in which we come to Jesus in the mass -- and yet ALSO must include a genuine response of faith to him, through giving over our own lives.

The Catholic faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist is a bold claim - but one with deeps roots in both Sacred Scripture and in the Sacred Tradition - going back to the very beginning of the Church. What happens in Mass every week is nothing less than a miracle - it is really Jesus himself who shows up. Every week is an opportunity to literally "Come to Jesus", not just in the blind, automatic reception of the Sacrament, but to come to Him in a personal encounter of faith and complete surrender.

Summary: In this Gospel reading, Jesus declares, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." What we see in this reading is a grand example of people missing the point of why Jesus has come! The crowd who has just been fed are following Jesus looking for him to produce more food. But he has something even greater -- he has come to give HIMSELF. When we come to mass, we are to come to receive Jesus fully -- including his Lordship over our lives. If we do not come to give our lives over to be transformed by Christ, then we have missed the point as well!

Summary: In the gospel reading, we hear the miracle of Jesus taking five barley loaves and two fish that was offered by a boy and turns it into a feast that feeds the five thousand. When we give ourselves over to Christ -- glorying him with our time and resources, He takes that and transforms it for his purpose.

Summary: Imagine reading a book in which all of the spaces between words and punctuation had been removed. The text would become gibberish to us. In the same way, our lives become gibberish when we are about "GO" on our own terms, but leave no room for worship, prayer. God created us for both work and rest. But work can devolve into meaningless toil without a proper understanding of rest.

Summary: It is sometimes difficult to see God in the storms and trials of life. And yet, just as Christ Jesus calms the wild storm on the sea, so Jesus can calm the storm in our lives and bring us peace. The Cross of Christ reveals God's deepest love for us and should move us to conversion, to experience his forgiveness and renewed life.

Summary: "We walk by faith and not by sight", as St. Paul says. But that does not mean we have a blind faith. Our approach to faith brings together ALL of our capacities: our reason, imagination, desire. Our faith is intelligible, but human reason alone is insufficient to grasp God, namely because he comes to US in a love relationship; revealing himself to us in scriptures, through the Holy Spirit, and through the sacraments -- especially the Eucharist. There is no conflict between faith and reason because God is the author of both. And yet God himself enters our reality in ways that go beyond mere reason.

Summary: Today, Fr. Kevin gives homily for the First Communicants on the Holy Trinity. The entire mass centered on our Trinitarian understand of God being Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God, the Son (Jesus Christ) is made present to us today in the Holy Eucharist. It is God, the Holy Spirit who indwells all baptized believers to live through Him and carry out his work in the world.
Summary: Each year, the parish encourages people to either renew or consider ways they might actively participate in the life and mission of Mary Queen of Peace through their time, treasure and talents. Today, Fr. Kevin invites long-time parishioner Mark Ursino to share from his own experience of being engaged in the mission of Mary Queen of Peace. Fr. Theme: This reading in Matthew 18 is part of a larger discourse by Jesus on the Church. In today's text, Jesus tells us how we are to approach others whom we might have a conflict with, or who we feel might need to be restored. Even in the worst of conflicts, our desire should always be first and foremost about reconciliation and restoration of that person -- never destruction of the person.
