What would the world look like if there were no rules? If there were no traffic laws and everyone just drove how they wanted to? Chaos. Danger. God spoke into the chaos of His people in the Old Testament through Moses to bring order. God established how His people would live according to His perfect will through His law. But no matter how hard they tried and we try, we fail to obey God 100%...we miss the target. God sent Jesus to do what we couldn't - to keep every law perfectly. As Jesus' followers, we obey God out of love rather than obligation or performance. Pray: Lord, empower me to love you more and to love others as myself.

Worship is less me and more Jesus. That means honoring God by thinking more about others than ourselves. It means even when we have the authority to have it our way, we may let it go. We surrender our lives by living more intentionally. We bring glory to God by the way we live out our days. Worship is honor and respect—appreciation for life, the world, our blessings, gratitude, and thankfulness for each day. True worship is demonstrated in how we live each day when no one is looking. The day Pearl Harbor was attacked, it galvanized a nation. The Miracle on Ice brought together a country. In the days following 9/11, unity in America was at an all time high. Why didn't it last? We crave unity but we naturally move toward disunity, in our homes, in our community, in our politics, in our nation, in our world. In the last day before Jesus died, the emphasis of Jesus' prayer was not for God to protect His disciples or to empower them or for unique insights. He prayed that they might be one. God will be constantly crossing our paths and canceling our plans by sending us people with claims and petitions.” When God took on flesh that first Christmas in Bethlehem, Jesus interrupted history and came to deliver Heaven’s greatest gift...Salvation in His Name! Not everyone reacted to His interruption in the same way. Jesus wants to interrupt your life this Advent season - how will you respond to him?

To work without worry. We live with the tension of doing nothing (relying on God) or doing everything (without God). God could do it Himself but He calls us to participate.

To live in the power of the Holy Spirit on the best and the worst days of our lives. Suffering can make me doubt God or deny knowing Him to protect myself. Jesus suffered rejection and execution for us even when we deserted Him. If Jesus shed His blood to save it, shouldn't we give our lives to build it?

We discover we have sufficient power through the Holy Spirit to lift up Jesus for all to see. God's power enables us to be everything God has created us to be and to do everything He has called us to do. It is Jesus who can truly make us Power-Full.
Purpose with Power
We are easily overwhelmed with hopelessness, feeling we have no power or purpose with circumstances going on around us. Jesus' encourages us through His actions and promises that we have all the power we need.
