What happens when the unexplainable intersects the undeniable? Miracles are impossible. They defy explanation. They can’t be real. And yet, miracles surround us every day. In this episode, Mike welcomes back pastor and author Joby Martin to talk through his newest book, Anything is Possible. Joby, who serves Lead Pastor of The Church of Eleven22, examines nine miracles of Jesus—the miracle at the wedding of Cana, the story of the cripple at the pool of Bethesda, the feeding of the 5,000, the raising of Lazarus—and shows how each teaches us something unique about how God wants to relate to us.
Written with New York Times bestselling author Charles Martin, Anything is Possible is an insightful and spiritually rich look at the miracles of Christ, and how the greatest miracles of all changed everything. He encourages readers that God still does miracles today, that believers have access to the incredible power that raised Jesus from the dead and ultimately reminds us not to seek miracles themselves, but the One who performs them.
About Joby Martin
Pastor Joby Martin is the founder and lead pastor of The Church of Eleven22 in Jacksonville, Florida. Since launching the church in 2012, he has led a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition to providing The Church of Eleven22 with vision and leadership, Pastor Joby is a national and international preacher and teacher. He has been married to his wife, Gretchen, for over 20 years and they have a son, JP, and a daughter, Reagan Capri.

Whether you're the boss calling the shots, the employee making it happen, or the intern just starting out in your field, you're uniquely positioned right where you are to make an impact in the place you spend so much of your time: your job! Leadership coach and entrepreneur Elizabeth Dixon joins Mike and shares her journey, as well as some of the key principles in her book, The Power of Customer Experience: 5 Elements to Make an Impact.
Elizabeth serves as Executive Director of Trilith Foundation, and previously serves as Principal Lead for Chick-fil-A Strategy, Hospitality & Service Design. What would look like to reach your full potential – in your relationships, as a parent, in your career, in athletics? Mike sits down with leadership consultant and speaker Scott Wozniak to pull apart what separates good leaders and organizations from great ones, and how anyone can optimize their ability to learn and improve in any arena in life.
Scott has spent years upgrading his understanding of organizations and their leaders, including being mentored by best-selling authors and billionaires, traveling the globe, acquiring multiple leadership coaching certifications, and earning a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. For more than 20 years, Scott has coached and consulted with leaders, helping them take their organizations to the next level. Did 2020 feel like a wilderness experience for you? So many people lost loved ones, opportunities, financial resources, careers, time, and much, much more during COVID. We’ve all heard that inspiration matters in life. But can inspiration be measured? And what true effects does inspiration have on our performance in life – work, athletics, in the classroom? Mike welcomes back entrepreneur and author Kevin Scott to talk through the principles behind his new book, Inspired Every Day. According to what Kevin has uncovered in his research on the topic, the genius of a flashbulb moment happens much more often when a person has developed a lifestyle that blends three indispensable ingredients: a purpose to live for, a problem to tackle, and a partnership with likeminded people. One or two won’t do. It takes all three. Listen in, as Kevin shares his heart behind the book – and see how inspiration can truly transform you or your organization.

If you have been to a mall or shopping center in the past 35 years, you are likely familiar with Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. While you may have enjoyed some of these warm, tasty treats, you likely don’t know the story of the woman whose name has become synonymous with this franchise, which now spans 49 states across America. Mike Linch sits down with “Auntie” Anne Beiler, who has a remarkable story of loss, pain, and despair that was transformed into one of hope, freedom, and healing.
Like many “American Dream” stories, Anne Beiler’s had humble beginnings – albeit personally challenging ones. She and her husband went through some difficult times, losing a 19-month daughter in a tragic farming accident, then growing distant as they endured the pain separately, in silence. Anne sought the counsel of a pastor, who took advantage of her vulnerability, to manipulate and abuse her for years. She later shared this with her husband, and the two sought counseling together. God restored their marriage, and her husband, Jonas, felt compelled to help others who were suffering from the same despair they had experienced. He had a vision to help provide free counseling services to their community. To help support and fund this endeavor, Anne bought a stand at a farmer's market in Downington, Pennsylvania in 1988, where she made and sold soft pretzels. Auntie Anne’s was born.
Even as her business grew into the world’s largest pretzel franchise, Anne continued to deal with depression, with secrets keeping her in darkness. Desperate to find healing, she began to share her story publicly – and she began to feel lighter! Anne discovered a new passion to help other women experience this freedom, and in 2005 she sold her business to give her the time to speak to others on leadership, purpose, and the power of confession.

In his second episode ever published in Season 1 of the podcast, Mike Linch interviewed the late former University of Georgia Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Vince Dooley, who recently passed at the age of 90 at his home in Athens.

During his 25 seasons as the head coach in Athens, he led the Bulldogs to 20 bowl games, coached 12 consensus All-Americans, and was named SEC Coach of the Year four times. In 1979, he was appointed as the Athletic Director, and saw the Bulldogs win 18 national championships and 75 SEC championships during that period.
Coach Dooley was also instrumental in bringing collegiate football to Kennesaw State University, where he served as Chair of the Exploratory Committee which researched the feasibility of bringing the sport to the school. Additionally, he also partnered with Mascot Books to publish two children's books about the UGA mascot, How 'Bout Them Dawgs! and Hairy Dawg's Journey Through the Peach State. Dooley was also the chairman of the board of curators for the Georgia Historical Society from 2016 to 2018.

As the college basketball season begins, Mike sits down with Molly to gain an understanding of what has fueled her journey from player to assistant coach to head coach, and how she keeps her internal engine running.
Molly Miller serves as the head coach of the women’s basketball program at Grand Canyon University. Following six seasons as the head coach at her Alma Mater, Drury University, she took over as the Lopes’ head coach after amassing an incredible record of 180-17, including a stunning 67-1 mark over her final two seasons in Springfield. Her teams won conference championships five of the six years between 2015-2020, and made an appearance in the Division II Final Four in 2019. Additionally, Coach Miller was named the WBCA Division II Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2020.
In her first two seasons at Grand Canyon University, Miller has led the Lopes to a record of 39-15. In her first season at the helm, she led her team to its first-ever WAC Conference Championship game appearance. As we head deeper into MLB’s postseason excitement, it’s a perfect time for Mike to sit down with former Major League pitcher Jim “The Rookie” Morris. Jim shares many of the obstacles he overcame in life, and is a real-life example that it is never too late for God to work, even through the most painful and least likely places in our lives.
Jim Morris is no stranger to big dreams. Since he was five years old, he passionately yearned to play baseball in the major leagues. However, despite all his hard work and determination, a series of unfortunate events and injuries scuttled his career before he was twenty-five. Doctors told him he would never play again. Then, at age thirty-five—after a string of highly implausible events and at an age when most players are retiring—Morris found himself on the mound as a relief pitcher for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. His return to the game was so incredible that Disney made his story into a heartwarming film—The Rookie—with Jim portrayed by Dennis Quaid. It was released to popular acclaim and was a huge box office success. It won the ESPY for Best Sports Movie in 2002 and the CAMIE award for Character and Morality in Entertainment.
Morris is the author of two books, with his most recent release entitled Dream Makers. It picks up where The Rookie left off. This compelling memoir explores the untapped territory of Morris’ life, including his contentious relationship with his father, his incessant and grueling struggle with pain and addiction, the mentorship with his wise and loving grandfather who kept him grounded, and the resolve and faith that drove him to overcome every tribulation. Dream Makers explores the transformative power of surrounding yourself with the best, most accomplished people possible—inspiring you to overcome life’s obstacles and achieve your dreams.

Something we don’t see quite as celebrated today as in decades past is longevity: the ability to last and stick with something for a long time. In this episode of Linch with a Leader, Mike sits down with one of the legends in American high school football history, Coach Philip Haywood. In his conversation with Mike Linch, Coach Haywood shares how his role as a coach is far more than about winning; it’s about changing lives.

He is the winningest high school football coach in Kentucky history, amassing more than 465 wins over 47 seasons, including eight state runner-up finishes and seven state championships. Haywood has been honored by his peers on numerous occasions, being named the Louisville Courier-Journal overall Coach of the Year numerous times, and either Class AA or Class AAA Coach of the Year seven times. In 2013, he was voted USA Today’s Best High School Football Coach, and in 2017 was named Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.
One of Haywood’s biggest trademarks is his off-the-field activities related to youth and church activities. He has been the FCA huddle leader at Belfry for more than 35 years and is presently a youth leader at his church. He speaks regularly at churches, youth meetings, and various functions. When speaking at football clinics, he quickly turns to one of his favorite topics related to why we coach and the values we should be teaching our kids.
Coach Haywood was indicted into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. He is also the author of Faith, Family, and Football, in which he shares his life story through the vehicle of his career in coaching and the three most important things in his life: faith, family, and football. Beyond a sports story, Faith, Family, and Football is a playbook for a successful life whether you are a coach, athlete, or parent.

It is every college baseball coach's dream to capture the College World Series title and hoist that National Championship trophy. Well, Chris Lemonis was fortunate to experience that in 2021, as his Mississippi State Bulldogs took home the crown to Starkville. In this episode, Mike Linch talks to Coach Lemonis about the culture of his program, how to overcome challenges when players are struggling, and how he wants to be remembered by the players he coaches.
About Chris Lemonis:
Since arriving in Starkville, Chris Lemonis has guided the Bulldogs to unparalleled success, including capturing Mississippi State’s first national championship in 2021. He is the first Division I head coach to reach the College World Series in his first two full seasons as head coach of a program in the Super Regional era (since 1999).
In three seasons at MSU, Lemonis has compiled a 114-37 record (.755 winning percentage) and taken his program to every College World Series that has been played during that span. In each of his two complete seasons at the helm of the Bulldogs, Lemonis has won 50-plus games, posting a 52-15 record in 2019 and a 50-18 mark in 2021. Lemonis notched his 100th win at MSU, doing so in his first 130 games. He is the fastest head coach in program history to reach the 100-win mark.
Owning a head coaching record of 255-128-2, Lemonis was also a part of nearly 800 wins as an assistant coach and three trips to the College World Series. During his time at Indiana, Lemonis' teams averaged 35.3 wins per season, including a 40-win campaign during his final season in Bloomington. He averaged 39.2 victories per year during his career in an assistant role (784 wins), bolstered by a 44.9 wins-per-season average at Louisville. The Cardinals were college baseball's winningest program during that eight-year span and made the program’s first three trips to Omaha.
Lemonis not only understands what it takes to get to Omaha as a coach but also as a player. A 1992 graduate of The Citadel, Lemonis added a 1990 appearance in the College World Series as a student-athlete. The appearance make the Bulldogs one of just three schools in Southern Conference history (Duke, Wake Forest) and only current member of the conference to advance to Omaha.

Criminal Justice, is a motivational speaker and best-selling co-author (with best-selling author and motivational speaker Jon Gordon) of The Coffee Bean: A simple Lesson to Create Positive Change. His first book and autobiography, The Change Agent: How a Former College QB Sentenced to Life in Prison Transformed His World, was published just three years after his release from a Texas maximum-security prison. Sentenced to sixty-five years in a Texas prison, Damon West once had it all. He came from a great family, in a home full of God, love, support, and opportunities to reach any goal. A natural born leader, an athlete with good looks and charm, he appeared to be the all-American kid pursuing his dreams.
Underneath this facade, however, was an addict in the early stages of disease. After suffering childhood sexual abuse by a babysitter at the age of nine, Damon began putting chemicals into his body to alter the way he felt.
Damon’s career as a Division 1 quarterback at the University of North Texas came to a premature end, after suffering an injury against Texas A&M. After graduation, he worked in the United States Congress, was a national fundraiser on a U.S. Presidential campaign and eventually trained to be a stock-broker for United Bank of Switzerland (UBS). One day at UBS, he was introduced to methamphetamines; he became instantly hooked—and the lives of so many innocent people would forever be changed by the choices he made in order to feed his insatiable meth habit.
After a fateful discussion during his incarceration with a seasoned convict, Damon had a spiritual awakening. He learned that, like a coffee bean changing with the application of heat and pressure, he was capable of changing the environment around him. Armed with a program of recovery, a renewed faith, and a miraculous second chance at life, Damon emerged from over seven years of prison a changed man. His story of redemption, grit and determination continues to inspire audiences today.
Today, Damon lives a life of recovery and service, going to meetings and sharing his story all over the country with schools, church's, athletic teams, corporations, conferences and inside correctional facilities. Over the past few years, he has been sharing the Coffee Bean lesson with dozens of college football teams such as Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas, and countless schools and businesses. His #coffeebeans message has inspired thousands, winning him the Service to Mankind Award in 2017. He works as a legal assistant for the Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont, Texas and recently earned his master’s degree, in Criminal Justice, from Lamar University.
Damon’s story has been featured both nationally and globally. His second book, The Coffee Bean, co-authored with best-selling author Jon Gordon, became an instant best-seller. Damon is passionate about the Coffee Bean message and loves sharing how it changed his life and how it can change yours, too.
