It took a lot of doin' but we finally got Megan Clark @mlknepp and Allie Butler @alliembutler on together for a fun filled podcast. It's been a treat getting to know these two and after listening to this podcast you'll feel like you know them too. Friendships forged through hunting are unbreakable and so is the case with these two. They are genuine, humble and more than willing to help anyone get out and experience the outdoors. Two better outdoor ambassadors would be tough to find. Be sure to give them a follow.

We say this all the time and not to sound too repetitive, but "you have to listen to this one". In this episode we finally catch up with Emma Schmidt @emma.schm1dt and had a lot of fun learning how she Makes It Happen Outdoors. Emma is living and loving her outdoor lifestyle every day. Whether she's driving all night to make it to the next rodeo, climbing the next hill looking for elk, stalking game in Africa or competing in a shooting match she is fully committed to doing the very best she can. Amongst all the craziness we're all thrown into these days, we had the opportunity to sit down, relax, have a meal and chat with JC known throughout the cooking community as cooking_queen_xo
Jen invited us into her home and we were immediately treated as family. Jen filled our bellies with mouth watering street tacos topped with gummy bears (amazing as a topping by the way). We had a perfectly comfortable night hanging out learning about cooking and talking about all the irons she has in the fire. Jen's talent for cooking and her passion for cooking added together don't equal her need to serve people and make them smile. Jen's 18+ hour days are spent being an amazing mom and preparing food for folks that need not only her amazing food, but her ever positive attitude as well.

As we promised in our mid summer scouting report episode we sit down and talk about how the Utah elk archery season finished out. We had (5) general season spike/cow permits and Darren had the Any Bull permit. The spike/cow tags proved to be a little hate hard to fill, but... the Any Bull tag got filled in spectacular fashion. As the season progressed the elk hunting became everything an archery hunter could hope for. The temperatures cooled off, the leaves started putting on their fall colors and the much anticipated rut started to kick in.

We were instantly jealous when Kaysie Thomas told us she spends at lest 6 days a week outside in the mountains doing what she loves with her husband Troy and their dog Kylo. Kaysie and Troy have built a life outdoors as wildland firefighters and then starting and growing a business collecting and selling antler sheds. With the addition of Kylo to the shed hunting crew there won't be too many sheds left for other folks to find! Kylo is a shed finding machine and we don't want to leave out the other shed crazy members in their household their three cats Yoda, Wookie and Vader!
Kaysie's outdoor spirit comes through as she tells the story of how she became a hunter and how she felt when she harvested her first animal. The success Kaysie and Troy have had in the multiple backcountry hunts they do every year is unparalleled and well earned. Thanks Kaysie for a look into your outdoor lifestyle and keep making it happen outdoors.

We had a blast recording this episode! Brandon was able to get Todd Kelly, Mike Smith and JP together in one spot so that we could get their hunting stories out for everyone's entertainment. Todd and crew have been extremely fortunate to draw some of the most sought after big game permits in the West and we caught up wit them in Brian Head, UT to hear their stories. The chance to hunt an African exotic is something that may never come for some folks, but Todd and Mike can say they have and were successful harvesting an African Oryx on the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. But wait, there's more! These guys have had some amazing hunts for elk in New Mexico and we top it off with a once in a lifetime muzzleloader elk hunt in the Jarbidge Wilderness Area in Nevada. It's always a good time when you get to sit down with great folks like Wayne and Marc Carlton. The first weekend in February found us the high desert town of Elko Nevada for what proved to be a weekend that will stay etched in our memories forever. We had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with Ned Ledoux while he was in town performing a couple shows for the 35th annual National Cowboy Poetry Gathering.
From the moment we sat down to the conclusion of the interview Ned in his own way put us at ease and made the next hour or so fly by with stories of his childhood growing up on the ranch in Wyoming and how he got started in music by playing a set of drums in the basement. We of course talked about what it was like having the legendary Chris Ledoux for a father and honestly we weren't surprised at how close the apple falls from the tree.
Ned is as genuine as they come and lives his life committed to the western way of life, faith in God and family and telling stories through his music. There's no doubt he will " Never Change".
Be sure to watch for Ned's new album coming out this fall!
Thank you Ned from the bottom of our hearts for spending some time with us and sharing your stories. We look forward to crossing paths with you again.

In this episode we had so much fun sitting down with Leslye and Jeremy Leslie. These two relocated from Georgia to Utah 4 years ago and have immersed themselves in the western outdoors arena full tilt. They are dedicated to the outdoors, committed to ethical hunting, active conservationists and two of the hardest working hunters we know.
The story of how Leslye and Jeremy started hunting together and how their move to Utah has changed their lives is close to fairy tale status. After you listen to Leslye's story of taking her first western big game animal, you will immediately want to check out the incredible mule deer buck she harvested this year. We can't think of anyone of more deserving than Leslye and Jeremy.
Watch on social media and follow along as Leslye and Jeremy continue their outdoor journey.
These two know what it takes to Make It Happen Outdoors.

In this episode we sat down and had a chat with Liz Donaldson known as huntress.life.liz on Instagram. What a great story and message she has. Her husband Ian and her are fortunate enough to be stationed in Great Falls Montana and they take full advantage of the opportunities that area has to offer. Taking up hunting to spend more time with her husband was the beginning of an outdoor journey that will never cease to provide an enriched life for them. It was so refreshing listening to her tell her story on why she started hunting. She has gone from a non-hunter to a full blown hunter, conservationist and outdoorswoman. Take Liz's example and get out and volunteer. She's in the process of becoming a Montana Hunter Education Instructor!
We'd like to sincerely thank Ian "Donny" and Liz for their service to our country.

We couldn't be more excited to bring you this episode!!
We were very fortunate that Kristy Titus had a lull in her very busy schedule and was able to talk with us for awhile. We were captivated by her passion for life and her dedication to the numerous organizations that she supports. Kristy's list of accomplishments is mind blowing.
We talked about her recent appointment to the board of the NRA, her dedication to the RMEF, her passion and support for WWO (Wounded Warriors Outdoors) as well as her digital series "Pursue The Wild" and many other projects she has on her plate.
Did you know she's on the Ruger Shooting Team? How about that she was a competitive body builder? Did you know she's a contributing writer for Western Hunter magazine? Listen in as as she tells us about those things and many more. It was a great time as we're sure you'll agree.
Every once in a great while you get chance to meet someone who has the ability to enjoy life to the fullest every single day. We got that chance when we spent some time talking with Danielle Torpey. Her enthusiasm is infectious and her love of life and especially life outdoors is undeniable. Danielle is fiercely dedicated to the kids she teaches in the classroom and in the outdoors. The Wind River Mountains are her playground and Wyoming is her home.
Alright folks. We're back from another crazy hunting season. We've had an action packed couple of months and it's time to talk to the folks that were out there making it happen while we were off doing our thing. We are super excited and fortunate to bring you our first return guest. We promised to talk with Jessica after her backcountry elk archery hunt and thanks to her making time for us we did just that. Jessica has just recently returned from one of the biggest hunts of her life so far. There aren't too many hunters out there that could do 3 weeks in the backcountry like her and Wayne did. Her dedication and commitment is unsurpassed and the emotion is undeniable.
Follow her Instagram, website, Twitter and YouTube.
Search for followherarrow on you are bound to find her.

Have you ever been traveling down the highway and seen a person riding a motorcycle that is loaded down with gear, probably covered with mud to some degree and maybe even has some of the external accessories tied on temporarily? If you have, you were seeing an adventurous soul who seeks the freedom of open spaces and amazing scenery as can only be seen from the seat of a motorcycle. In this episode we sat down with three guys who know what it’s like to ride over 7,000 miles in one trip from Salt Lake City, UT to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, Canada AND BACK! Paul, Grant and Corey can now say they survived the Dempster Highway.
We had a great time with these guys and couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to take on an adventure as fun and life changing as these guys did. After listening to this episode you'll be wondering the same thing.
Thanks for listening and don't forget to hit that subscribe button!
Wow! What an awesome episode this is! If you fly fish or have thought about fly fishing (or even if you don't) you are going to want to listen to this episode. We had so much fun! We were very fortunate that Heather Hodson known as northwestflygirl on Instagram was able to take time out of her extremely busy schedule to talk with us and not only entertain us with some fishing stories, but teach us some stuff along the way. Heather is one of the West's leading fly fishing personalities and you won't find a better representative for women in the sport. We are excited to see where her organization United Women On the Fly goes and how big it will get to be. She is fiercely dedicated to her passion to get more women on the water and we don't doubt she will accomplish and far surpass all her goals. Please do as Heather asks and "keep your fish wet".
Thank you Heather and keep up the good work!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a professional baseball player? Of course you have, we all did as young children!
We are lucky enough to have a close friend who has lived the pro ball player life and is still very much involved in the sport. Chad Hermansen was gracious enough to take time out of his busy schedule to sit down with us one evening and give us an inside look at how the MLB works. Chad is an outstanding example and role model for the sport of baseball and we are very grateful to him for sitting down with us.
Here comes another episode you don't want to miss! We were so fortunate to spend some time talking with Brittany and Richard Kichton. These are two incredible people who have a great story to tell and we are sure you are going to enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed talking with them.
For those of you who don't know, Brittany is Miss North Carolina 2011 and is a hunter to the core. Brittany and Richard met in Alberta, Canada while she was on a wolf hunt up there and the rest is history. Richard grew up in the outdoors as an Alberta farm boy and it definitely helped him become the virtual hunting encyclopedia he is. He will forget more about predator hunting than most folks will ever know. Brittany and Richard are living a dream and sure do know how to make it happen outdoors.
Thank you Brittany and Richard we surely appreciate your time. Stay safe from the grizzlies and we can't wait to talk to you again.
Prepare yourselves for an exciting episode! We were extremely fortunate to catch Jessica Byers @followherarrow and Rihana Cary @rihanacary together at the same time during and extremely busy weekend for them at the Total Archery Challenge held at the Snowbird Ski Resort in SLC, UT.
They are fresh off their trip to Australia and New Zealand and it was so great to hear their stories of the hunts they did and feel the emotion as they relived their success and challenges of hunting in unforgiving terrain. Statements such as " I thought we were going to die" and " I couldn't have done it without you" were spoken and felt as we sat and talked.
It became plainly obvious very quickly that these two women have a fierce determination to succeed and a undying love for the outdoors. They definitely possess the warrior spirit and are perfect ambassadors for women in the hunting world. Thanks again to Jessica and Rihana for being so gracious and we can't wait to do it again.

This episode is one we will never forget. We traveled 4 1/2 hours north to Island Park Idaho to spend a day with Charlie Lansche and his son JC. We sat on Charlie's deck with the Henry's Fork of the Snake River 30 feet behind us. Checkout our Instagram @makeithappenoutdoors for the pictures. It's hard to put into words how beautiful it was. We were doubly lucky to to get his son JC on the podcast with us. He is a student of the river and can probably out fish most folks on the river. It was an honor and a pleasure to spend the day with Charlie and JC and we can't thank them enough for letting us invade their day.

This episode is one Brandon and I will never forget. We were honored to get the opportunity to spend a day with a modern day legend in the world of hunting. Wayne Carlton is one of a kind and is one of the most genuine and truly great people we have had the chance to meet. Wayne's knowledge of the animals he hunts and his ability to have a conversation with them is second to none. We apologize for seeming a bit starstruck, but honestly we were. Wayne's video's taught us how to call and hunt elk clear back in the 90's and after spending a day with him he's still teaching us how it's done! We want to thank Wayne for a great day of entertainment. It's one we won't forget.
Go to nativebycarlton.com and check out the decoys and calls for your hunts this fall. You won't find a better product out there.
In this episode we had the opportunity to sit down with two great guests Dave Scott and his son Bryson Scott. Dave has close to a half century of experience as an expert hunter, avid outdoorsman, professional taxidermist, guide and experienced runner. It's likely that Dave has spent more more time in the outdoors than he has indoors. Dave was the third recipient of the Utah Anasazi award. Listen in as Dave explains exactly what that entails. It's not an accomplishment many of us could ever complete.
It's plainly obvious that Bryson is headed for a life in the outdoors as well. His hunting resume is already filled with more animals than people twice his age. Check out Bryson's Instagram page @bryson.scott and you will understand how devoted to making it happen outdoors this father and son duo is!
In this episode Brandon was solo and had a great time talking with Stephanie (known as huntress_texas) on Instagram).
