For the 25th Anniversary of Spielberg’s classic, Schindler’s List, Cinema Club host Jack Goulet sat down with Matt Keeler and Kyllian Harper to discuss, among other things, the film’s raw emotion, imagery, performances, and impact then and now.

This three-plus hour masterwork from Spielberg takes an emotional toll, with incredible lead performances from the likes of Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes.

The film is based on the true story of Oskar Schindler, an entrepreneur and member of the Nazi party who becomes more concerned with the wellbeing of his Jewish workers as the war rages on.

While spoilers are usually mentioned on the podcast, the graphic nature of the film, including acts of graphic violence, will also be discussed. Please be advised.

On this episode, host Jack Goulet was joined by Kyllian Harper and Matt Keeler to discuss Creed II.

Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has a chance to avenge his father Apollo’s death when he faces off against Ivan Drago’s son, Viktor. In Rocky IV, which exists in the same universe, Ivan Drago killed Apollo Creed and was later beaten by Rocky Balboa.

Facing many changes in his own life, Creed is forced to put his future on the line to get some redemption for his family.

Among other things, we discussed the film’s plot, the lifespan of the Rocky series, and gave it an overall score out of ten.

Set in Chicago, this story revolves around four women whose husbands died while completing a heist. Veronica Rawlings (Viola Davis) finds plans for another heist her husband (Liam Neeson) had in the works. To pay off a debt he left behind, Rawlings gets the other grieving widows on board and decides to go through with the heist herself.

Based on the 1983 TV mini-series, Widows offers thrills, beautiful cinematography, and plenty of twists.

Among other things, we discussed the film’s complex plot, pros and cons, and gave it a score out of ten.

We discuss the cinematography, our favorite parts, the film’s flaws, and give it an overall score.

In the first Cinema Club podcast of the 2018-2019 school year, I spoke with Kyllian Harper and Matt Keeler about the 2018 sequel to the 1978 horror classic Halloween.

This story takes place 40 years after the first Halloween, with Michael Myers escaping from prison as he’s being transferred by bus. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), the babysitter from the original, has been waiting for Michael to escape so she can kill him.

This sequel abandons the nine other Halloween sequels and instead comes exactly 40 years after the original of the same name.

We discussed the pros and cons of the story, the possibility of more Halloween movies, and our overall rating of the film.
