Cerebral T(tea). My journal log entries based on Life, Observations, Laughing at myself and at you. The anti self help- self help. Where it’s more like, “help yourself”. Also, sometimes I say funny stuff and people laugh.
I recorded this episode almost 6 months ago. Here I am, reintroducing myself as the bootleg host at which I’m so good. If there is a bootleg version of something you wanna do and have yet to realize, here is your motivation.
Another bonus episode while I Tiff-splain why I still haven’t transitioned my podcast to a vodcast, simultaneously folding in the current COVID state and its polemic impact on work as an interpreter as life transitions into more of a hybrid scenario.
Poppin’ through to say Hi. Been gone for a minute - crazy busy life-time. Planning to return to bi-weekly episodes in May. For now, seeing what’s good - and droppin’ a little nugget about “Time & Healing” 😉
February is upon us which has companies all in a frenzy to “meet diverse needs”. When does needing to do better translate to action?
It’s been a while, but how about the first episode in 2021. Le’goo. Talking about navigating my first purchase of the year as well as the the faux pas of cyclical goal setting that gets us into trouble. Let’s not worry about what year we are in, rather, what we are doing in the year we’re in.
We often spring clean with the idea to purge unwanted items, but how about stumbling upon forgotten treasures. In this episode, I happen upon an old blurb I wrote for an online travel magazine, and it makes me smile bringing back great memories from my jr year summer in Alaska.
Personal Evolution — it’s a tricky process. When handling conflicts and confronted with “people problems,”are we really as evolved as we claim to be? In this episode, I talk about two critical practices when managing conflict resolution, to create us into more evolved humans.
Our circumstances aren’t always our plan, but can you generate a more positive outlook which can generate a more positive outcome? In this short podcast, I share my attempt at creating mental templates with the goal of aiming for desired results.
I rarely bring my professional perspective to the podcast, but thought it a good opportunity to address some IG comments on vlogs related to novice-experienced interpreter teams.
In a world where ‘doing the most’ is almost the status quo, could mediocrity be the answer to balancing out the force? Explore the benefits of being mediocre as an approach to becoming a well-rounded, holistic being. Join me in accepting the challenge to bring ordinary back 🥴
In this bonus episode I grapple with articulating my feelings in such a weirdly turbulent moment by sharing a recent experience as a Black Interpreter. In this time of listening and learning, it’s interesting how we are still talking more than ever. In order to learn, you need to listen. And in order to listen, you need to BE QUIET. In our rush to prove we are on the right side of an upside down system, how we “do our part” is indicated not by how well we talk about our intentions rather, how we execute them.
Today, how we talk about staying in touch with people relates more to how many of their posts we have “liked” online. The more we live our lives in the social media sphere, the greater the need to be more aware of authenticity, especially in our connections. As we work our way through social distancing, has it also made us passive and apathetic to the lives we scroll through?
One of the misnomers in life - that we will get over “IT”. Sometimes we just struggle getting over certain life events, but self-growth is the antidote. In this episode, I talk about the importance of growing ourselves to better grow our outlook.
Life during COVID has comical moments, mostly related to Zoom mishaps. Thanks for the laughs. But all jokes aside, this is new for our generation and is impacting lives like never before. How are we coping in this new normal? Are we finding ways to stay engaged? Are we learning how to develop strategies for this challenging time? Let’s talk about what we can do to offset even our own stresses and trauma induced by COVID-19.
One of the first things we ask people when meeting them, is what they do for a living. In an age where we are intent on removing labels, is it passé for us to still ask this question? Is it just a question of interest, or are we using collected information to form opinions about others? Do we believe the career path or job someone chooses, inherently dictates who they are as individuals? In this episode, I talk about one of the first times I recall someone asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and how till this day it has influenced and shaped my perspective on character development, with the desire to focus on WHO we are and not WHAT we do.
Tuesday’s Tea: How many songs from Beiber to Beyonce to Demi Lovato, do we bop our heads to while they are either claiming they are or are not sorry to a pop beat? Some of the lyrics have even become anthems. But what does it mean to be sorry? Can we be sorry without being guilty?
We’re all at home trying to put into practice social distancing habits: have you fallen into the ‘challenge’ trap? 😬. This is a Bonus episode where in segment 1, I confront my tendency to be “out of touch” with pop culture, and talk about how my bff makes fun of me. Then in segment 2, I wrap it into our decision-making and projecting trajectories for avoiding blaming life for our lack of foresight.
We often don’t recognize the ways we unhealthily deal with conflict or painful moments in our lives or even in the way we resolve issues. In this episode I talk about a fire my nephew sets in my sister’s bathroom when he’s a little kid and how that translates into the way we ‘shut fires’ behind closed doors when we don’t resolve conflict. Is closure just closing up the issue at hand, or does it involve more?
Yay I did it. Episode (only) 1. 🥴. I said I’d do it, and Corona-geddon seemed like the best time to get started. Cuz if I’m gonna get an audience, I need to capitalize and exploit people’s insane boredom LOL. Here is just an intro into the ‘WHY do a podcast’. Tmw, gets even more random. If you didn’t think you could get more bored... well.. I hate to brag, you haven’t listened to me yet. Le’goooooo
