Antonne Henshaw, is a Rutgers Camden School of Criminal Justice Graduate School Student, The CEO and Founder of Transformative Justice Initiative Creator of “Meet Em at the Gate” one of TJI’s most notable initiatives and a Lead Credible Messenger in New Jersey.Dennis Febo, MAH, is a speaker, community organizer, artist, abolitionist, and CEO and founder Guazabara Insights, LLC. Dennis also founded the New Jersey Credible Messenger movement and the the Amend the 13th movement in NJ, a lobbying strategy to remove the "exception clause" and add anti-slavery language to the New Jersey constitution. Continuing with our 2023 "New Breed" interviews, this week our returning guests are Jamilia Land and Samual Nathaniel Brown. They are two of the lead organizers for the "End Slavery In California Act". On Thursday, 2-16-23 at the CA Capitol they joined Assembly member Lori Wilson in hosting a press conference introducing the legislation. The act is an Assembly Constitutional Amendment that will remove involuntary servitude from the California State Constitution.We'll listen to some of the press conference highlights and discuss the future and history of slavery in California as well as nationwide.Jamilia is co-director of state operations for the Abolish Slavery National Network (ASNN) and a former board member of the March On Foundation. Samual is co founder of the Anti-Violence Safety and Accountability Project, (ASAP) and was the original author of the legislation. We've heard it on zoom meetings of official congressional and senate hearings, and we've heard it from people with mass media platforms that reach millions.As a matter of fact, for this Sunday's episode of Abolition Today we will present the 2023 pro-slavery perspective. We are joined by New Hampshire activist, abolitionist, and Organizer Ophelia Healing Justice and N.H. State Representative Amanda Bouldin.Ophelia and Amanda represent the grass roots organizing and legislative efforts behind New Hampshire's push to create a constitutional amendment officially abolishing slavery in the state for the first time. It is said that N.H. abolished slavery in 1857. We'll show how that is not true at all. In honor of the passing of John Knippel, treasurer of No Exceptions North Carolina, and his slavery abolitionist legacy, we will rebroadcast this episode where Max, Yusuf, and John were together in the Paul Cuffee Abolitionist Center, Sumter, SC. We dug deeply into the term and practice of involuntary servitude. What it is, how it works, who it applies to, why it's even legal, and how it's simultaneously ILLEGAL for every other nation in the world except the US.We were joined by slavery abolitionist Samual Nathaniel Brown. Original author of the California abolition act which he wrote while incarcerated. He's one of the lead advocates for ACA8. The 2023 California Abolition Act. California and North Carolina are the only two states that abolished slavery in their state constitution but added an exception to protect the practice of involuntary servitude. As always we ask why, then provide real answers.

Yusuf, Max, and the ASNN Aboluminati are live on location from DC after the 52nd annual Congressional Black Caucus convention.We'll talk about our experiences with legislators in our efforts to amplify the slavery abolition movement and to garner legislative support for a momentous year in 2024. We'll be introducing 16 slavery abolition bills from 16 states to change 16 constitutions.All while support grows for the Abolition Amendment. A federal joint resolution to repeal the 13th amendment and replace it with a 28th amendment that abolishes slavery and involuntary servitude without exception as a punishment for crime or any other reason.Of course we'll tie it all together with music, spoken word, and the teachings of Slavery Abolitionist ancestors brought to life for a new generation.

Using his personal experiences, insight, and determination towards being a part of the solution, Jaubrae has authored a self-help group - now turned Non-Profit organization - by the name of C.H.A.N.G.E.S, that was designed to assist other men searching for true change in their own life.Incarcerated at the age of 17 years old, Jaubrae’s life was abruptly flipped completely upside down. Faced with tragedies, the strain of everyday prison life, and his own internal struggle of searching for his true identity - through the grace of God - Jaubrae prevailed. After 9 years of incarceration, Jaubrae was finally freed, but his work towards helping others hasn’t stopped.Blessed with his first real chance at life, and driven by his purpose of cultivating generational change, Jaubrae has focused his attention towards continuing the same drive that he had while inside. It's been a rough two weeks as our co-host Yusuf Hassan dealt with the passing and internment of his father Joseph. A huge fan of the program and a slavery abolitionist.

KJ is a proud graduate of Howard University and most recently the Los Angeles African American Women’s Political Policy Institute 2020. In her mind’s eye, she is a dancer and occasional actress, in real life she does pretty good math!

Silence can be destructive in the face of injustice because it can perpetuate the injustice by allowing it to continue unchecked. When people remain silent in the face of injustice, they are essentially condoning it and sending a message to the perpetrators that their actions are acceptable. This can embolden the perpetrators and make them more likely to continue their unjust behavior.Furthermore, silence can also lead to the marginalization and silencing of those who are being harmed by the injustice. When people fail to speak up and support those who are being oppressed, they are essentially complicit in the oppression and contributing to the harm being inflicted on the marginalized group.In short, silence can be just as destructive as actively participating in the injustice because it allows the injustice to persist and denies justice to those who are suffering. It is therefore crucial for individuals to speak out against injustice and use their voices to advocate for change and support those who are being oppressed.Today, through music, discussion, and truth, we address the sounds of silence on the issue of legalized slavery.

This week we'll acknowledge many historical events whose anniversaries occurred either within the past week or will come up this week such as the Attica Uprising September 9-12, 1971, which came on the heels of the August 21, 1971 murder of George Jackson, the murder of 6 young black children in Birmingham, Alabama (4 at the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church and 2 others later that day). And of course, yesterday marked the anniversary of 9/11. We'll also be joined by Chinweizu Abu, the Moderator for the Millions for Prisoners Human Rights Coalition to update us on the events and results of the #shutemdown2021 movement.

This week we're in Vermont for the Abolish Slavery National Network Anniversary Celebration.

In honor of the special date, we're revisiting the beginning of the journey. Our broadcast from August of 2020 when the ASNN was newly formed as an institution designed to end constitutional slavery nationwide. This was before all the momentous accomplishments we have enjoyed and prior to the sometimes heartbreaking losses.

At the end of it all, the ASNN has achieved great and historic deeds. Successfully removing slavery exception clauses from 3 states with 5 on the ballot this year and 2 dozen more ready for 2023. We introduced a joint federal resolution to repeal and replace the 13th amendment and reignited one of the most impactful movements in American history. The Slavery Abolitionist Movement. We will finish what our ancestors began.

This was how it all started.

Curtis is a founding member and Executive Director of Decarcerate Louisiana, and the End Plantation Prisons Project. He was instrumental in overturning unconstitutional Jim Crow juries in Louisiana. He is also a member of the Abolish Slavery National Network and introduced the LA abolition amendment.

Curtis's book "Slave State: Evidence of Apartheid in America" is available for purchase now. Curtis Davis spent 25 years in Angola prison. Since leaving that literal slave plantation he has become a beacon of hope for those still left behind.

This week we're calling out the blatant hypocrisy of US elected officials. Frankly, we're sick and tired of it.

It's the same old song over and over. Everything is called slavery BUT slavery. A red herring to chase. While they rename and redefine everything from covid isolation to roe v wade as "Slavery", they are actually practicing real slavery on you and me. Us and ours. Then, to put the crit in hypocrite, they have the audacity to point fingers at other nations doing far less than what merica is doing right now.

At this moment in history, the US is in violation of multiple international treatise simply by having ANY exception for ANY reason that allows enslavement within their federal and state constitutions.

Article 4 of The Declaration of Human Rights doesn't say;

"No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms." (Except for merica who can use it as a punishment for crime whereof the party has been duly convicted)

It's a crime against humanity that is in practice across this nation every day within a for-profit prison industry and a criminal justice system that acts as a revenue generator.

The next time you hear these unholy hypocrites talk about prison labor in China or assassinations of journalists, remember you live in the country with the largest prison population on earth. Where police turned slave-catchers have killed enough people in one decade to fill every seat in Yankee Stadium with dead bodies.

This is a special episode. We'll be joined by Shifa Rahman and Brian Palmer of the Convict Leasing and Labor Project and Savannah Eldrige of the Abolish Slavery National Network.

The mission of the Convict Leasing and Labor Project is to expose the history and ongoing impact of the convict leasing system and its connection to modern prison slavery while restoring the dignity of all victims of forced labor and their descendants. CLLP aims to lead a national conversation on the history and impact of forced labor, including chattel slavery, convict leasing, and the modern crisis of mass incarceration.

The Sugar Land 95 are the 95 African-American individuals unearthed during a construction in Sugar Land, Texas, 30 miles southwest of Houston. Archaeologists found evidence that the 95 individuals belonged to the state of Texas' convict leasing system and were buried in the unmarked gravesite.

The first bone was found in February 2018, by a backhoe operator clawing through the dirt on land owned by the Fort Bend Independent School District. By the summer, the remains of 94 men and one woman, all African-American victims of convict leasing, had been recovered on the future site of a career and technical education center. Ranging in age from 14 to 70, the inmates had muscular builds but were malnourished, their bones misshapen from back-breaking, repetitive labor. They were buried in plain pine boxes sometime between 1878 and 1911.

CLLP has been at the forefront of the fight to preserve the Sugar Land 95's burial ground and ensure they are properly memorialized.

DeLa just had their slavery abolition bill #HB298 pass through it's first committee hearing on May 16th. A complete reversal from last years loss in a 9-6 vote. In Louisiana, Black people constituted 33% of state residents, but 52% of people in jail and 67% of people in prison. Since 1970, the total jail population has increased 665%. We're going to explain why.

He is one of the leading authorities on the 15th-century’s Doctrine of Discovery and its influence on US history and its intersection with modern-day society. Mark co-authored, along with Soong-Chan Rah, the new book entitled “Unsettling Truths: The Ongoing, Dehumanizing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery ” (IVP, 2019). Mark ran as an independent candidate for the US Presidency in the 2020 election.

This week we examine the human trafficking and warehousing bodies aspects of modern legal slavery.

America has the largest prison population in the world. With only 4% of the worlds population we have 25% of it's prisoners.

Prison and jail overcrowding in some states is as much as 300% capacity. Thousands of prisoners are trafficked across state lines to be placed in states where they were never convicted of a crime. Underlying it all are racial discrepancies where minorities represent the vast majority of prison populations despite being only a fraction of state populations.

As always, we cover the data and show the truth of modern legal slavery under the 13TH amendment of the US constitution.

A nonprofit prisoner rights advocacy group specializing in parole reform, fair laws, and fair treatment. @EPICohio. Kenny is also the lead state organizer behind Ohio Senate Joint Resolution 1 The abolition amendment. Jean'na is the host of Kicking it With The Kenneys and an ASNN state partner.

We'll talk about the amazing national quarterly gathering and dig deep into Ohio's connection to the abolitionist movement of the past and modern constitutional slavery today. We'll expose some blatant conflicts of interest within the Ohio DOC and as always, tie it all together with powerful music mixes.

Manisha Sinha is the James L. and Shirley A. Draper Chair in American History at the University of Connecticut and a leading authority on the history of slavery and abolition and the Civil War and Reconstruction.

They told us that abolitionists caused the civil war. That middle class white people started and ran the abolitionist movement, and that those in bondage were happy slaves satisfied with their condition. Then, when we resisted or became a runaway, they told us it was a mental illness to want freedom from slavery. Drapetomania.

They lied. They always lie.

Today the org serves to support incarcerated individuals and their families through community engagement and education.

In 2020, she formed the Coalition to Abolish Slavery-Texas and joined the Abolish Slavery National Network as Co-Director of State Operations. She is actively involved in various organizations and campaigns to improve outcomes for incarcerated individuals across the state of Texas.

Max and Yusuf are joined by Curtis Davis. Author, abolitionist, and formerly incarcerated director of Decarcerate Louisiana.

Curtis is a founding member and Executive Director of Decarcerate Louisiana, and the End Plantation Prisons Project. He was instrumental in overturning unconstitutional Jim Crow juries in Louisiana. He is also a member of the Abolish Slavery National Network and introduced the LA abolition amendment.

Curtis's book "Slave State: Evidence of Apartheid in America" is available for purchase now. Curtis Davis spent 25 years in Angola prison. Since leaving that literal slave plantation he has become a beacon of hope for those still left behind.

"Section Two of the Thirteenth Amendment empowers Congress to “enforce” the ban on slavery and involuntary servitude “by appropriate legislation.” According to the Supreme Court, federal laws passed pursuant to this provision can address a broader range of discriminatory conduct than just coerced labor."

It inspired national lawsuits, supported international indictments on crimes against humanity and empowered abolitionist activists all across the country.

Kenneth B Morris Jr is the Direct Descendant of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington.

He's also the co founder of The Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives (FDFI).

The FDFI exists to honor and preserve the legacy of Frederick Douglass and to create awareness about modern-day slavery in an effort to expedite its demise.

On the 126th anniversary of his passing, Kenneth joined Max and Yusuf on Abolition Today for a discussion on the modern abolitionist movement. We also heard from Jamilia Land of California's ACA3 bill to abolish slavery, and Spoken Word Icon Cola Rum.

After 41 episodes of Abolition Today and 28 Episodes of LIVE From The Plantation, Season 2 now comes to an end. We spent the year kicking slavery's ass and taking names. Costing the industry billions and directly participating in organizing 3/4 of the US to change their state constitutions and end slavery for the 1st time.

We've honored our ancestors, uplifted those in bondage, educated the youth, and made so much national impact that the White House might sue us for whiplash. We're not even close to being done yet.

My Uncle Joey is in critical condition right now and the doctors say he won't last long enough to hear this episode. He has been there with Tribal and I through the last 40 years. I asked him what advice he would leave me before his next journey. He said "finish what you started."

This may be the years finale, but it's the beginning of the end for constitutional slavery. In 2022 as many as 9 states will have "ending slavery" on the ballot with a joint federal resolution to introduce the 28th amendment. We'll be there right in the middle of it all.

On October 20th, 2021, State Representative Dianne Hart, T.O.P.S. The Ordinary People's Society Southeastern Region Friends and Pas Kenny Sharpton Glasgow held a press conference in Florida's capitol announcing the introduction of joint resolutions to amend the state constitution and introduce anti-slavery legislation.

They will be joining the Abolish Slavery National Network as the 9th state to introduce such legislation since 2020. To date, 4 states have abolished constitutional slavery without exception and 21 additional states are organizing to get similar legislation introduced.

Finally, a joint resolution to introduce a new federal amendment to counter the pro slavery language of the 13th amendment is gaining bipartisan support in the house and senate.

We'll discuss that and much more. And of course, we'll include amazing music and poetry, then culminate the program by bringing the ancestors words back to life for a new generation of slavery abolitionists.

As a slavery abolitionists it's amazing that after all this time, blood, destruction, and suffering, we still don't know what the most basic terms which define the history of this country mean. Ask ten people to define slavery and see what you get.

Next try it with race/racism. Even the word abolition has been co-opted and redefined.

Normally when you ask someone to define these terms they'll tell you what they think as if guesses (educated or not) are perfectly acceptable because no one agrees on any particular definition. Sirius B?

How can everyone in this country who has ever went to school not know the answer to this immediately? It's only been over 4 hunnit gotdam years of it being the source of our woes right? Right?!

This week we'll acknowledge many historical events whose anniversaries occurred either within the past week or will come up this week such as the Attica Uprising September 9-12, 1971, which came on the heels of the August 21, 1971 murder of George Jackson, the murder of 6 young black children in Birmingham, Alabama (4 at the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church and 2 others later that day). And of course, yesterday marked the anniversary of 9/11. We'll also be joined by Chinweizu Abu, the Moderator for the Millions for Prisoners Human Rights Coalition to update us on the events and results of the #shutemdown2021 movement.

The American house is ablaze. Denial is rampant. Ignorance celebrated. Propaganda propagates faster than Australian farm mice. If this nations soul is at stake, it cannot be saved while slavery and genocide is a government sanctioned reality. Start at the heart of the problem. The choice is freedom and equality or anarchy and ashes. The firemen are literally prisoners.

One year and a day after the official launch of the Abolish Slavery National Network we look back.

We're broadcasting live from ACA3 land in Sacramento California. Also one day after the nationwide March For Our Voting Rights rallies and marches where members of the ASNN leadership team spoke about systemic voter disenfranchisement in multiple cities. This was followed by a powerful virtual presentation from the ASNN.

A week before the August 28th March On for Voting Rights rallies we dig deep into voter disenfranchisement. How, why, and who. Welcome to America. Where you have to pay taxes but can't vote. Where a single criminal conviction can turn you into a non-person with no rights or protections.

We are also only a week away from the anniversary of the Abolish Slavery National Network. In a single year we've made epic accomplishments never seen before in US history. Successfully changing 3 state constitutions to remove slavery exception clauses. Organizing over 30 other states to do the same within the next 4 years and introducing a joint federal amendment to counter the slavery exception clause of the 13th amendment. For the 1st time since reconstruction, slavers have to defend slavery for everyone to see and hear. Which they have done in Tennessee and Louisiana. Where state senators publicly presented their defense for keeping slavery legal.

ASNN core leadership members will be speaking during the massive national marches in DC, California, and Texas.

While everybody is doing the happy dance for Juneteenth being turned into a federal holiday and allegedly marking the end of slavery, this week we've had hearings to actually end slavery in three different states and introduced a joint resolution to end the exception clause of the 13TH amendment. So, if slavery ended as they say it did, then what the hell have we been doing all this time trying to get it out of your state constitutions and the Federal Constitution? Careful, cognitive dissonance might make your head explode.

It's our last episode before Juneteenth, 2021. Last week we broke down the legal definition of slavery. This week we talk about Juneteenth, the upcoming introduction of the 28th amendment, and the committee hearings on slavery abolitionist bills in Ohio, California, and Oregon. As a slavery abolitionists it's amazing that after all this time, blood, destruction, and suffering, we still don't know what the most basic terms which define the history of this country mean. Ask ten people to define slavery and see what you get.

Next try it with race/racism. Even the word abolition has been co-opted and redefined.

Normally when you ask someone to define these terms they'll tell you what they think as if guesses (educated or not) are perfectly acceptable because no one agrees on any particular definition. Sirius B?

How can everyone in this country who has ever went to school not know the answer to this immediately? It's only been over 4 hunnit gotdam years of it being the source of our woes right? Right?!

We're going to help with that problem. We've searched the records nationally and internationally to find a detailed definition which is legally accepted nearly worldwide. I've consulted with experts and taken council. June 6th we'll answer the question; What is Slavery?

So you won't have to guess no more.

America portrays itself as the global moral police while openly perpetuating crimes against humanity. Every year more and more nations call out the hypocrisy of our democracy.

In this episode Max and Yusuf point out the systemic human rights violations. We'll highlight the voices of nations and global human rights organizations who are calling out merica on their BS and demanding justice for the oppressed and accountability for the oppressor.

We will also explain how the US's prison for profit model has been adopted worldwide as an economic development program used to generate revenue through systems of slavery portrayed as justice.

Thanks to efforts led by slavery abolitionists, the global for-profit prison company called the GEO Group is near bankruptcy. Will it be slain or make a comeback? We'll discuss it.

We're 2 days away from the 2/9/21 Abolish Slavery National Network Quarterly Meeting and one month post confederate insurrection. It's all interconnected like a time rhyme but in this moment, the Abolitionist are writing the script. The last quarterly preceded the abolition of slavery in Utah and Nebraska and everything we touched turned to gold. Helping abolitionist amendments pass in 6 states. 3 months later we're about to top that and make US history. Forewarned is forearmed. Hear it first at Abolition Today.

The officer who carried out this attack, Lt. Jenkins, has a long and sordid history of brutality and violence. Jenkins has been promoted several times during his tenure under Commissioner Dunn, showing a pattern of reward for brutality at Donaldson.

Additionally, there have been multiple lawsuits brought against Donaldson Prison and ADOC on behalf of the men incarcerated there who have been beaten, brutalized, and raped by officers.

Is it a lawless land? Has the constitution been so systemically violated that it's become the supreme joke of the land? Has our rights ever been respected or have they been denied generation after generation? Who violates? Who denies? Who defends? Did biden actually end all private prison contracts? What's going on in Alabama prison with Kinetic Justice? We're going to pow wow with some veteran national slavery abolitionists and answer these questions.

When we pull back the curtain and take a look at what our 'colorblind' society creates without affirmative action, we see a familiar social, political, and economic structure - the structure of racial caste. The entrance into this new caste system can be found at the prison gate.

Where the 13th Amendment came from, how it's used, the effect it has on the criminal justice system, what opposition it has encountered, and how repealing and replacing the 13th amendment can make a difference within American society and law. We will also look into the myth of the 6th amendment. The fact that it does not exist in reality is one of the pillars of modern legal slavery. Is it possible that Georgia is so color prejudiced that she won't convict her white law-breakers. Yes, it is just so, but we hope for a better day.”

This week we examine the human trafficking and warehousing bodies aspects of modern legal slavery.

America has the largest prison population in the world. With only 4% of the worlds population we have 25% of it's prisoners.

Prison and jail overcrowding in some states is as much as 300% capacity. Thousands of prisoners are trafficked across state lines to be placed in states where they were never convicted of a crime. Underlying it all are racial discrepancies where minorities represent the vast majority of prison populations despite being only a fraction of state populations.

As always, we cover the data and show the truth of modern legal slavery under the 13TH amendment of the US constitution.
