On this week's show, wrapping up autism awareness month, Eli and Toni welcome Chef Demein Davis. 

Since the age of 5, Demein has been in love with cooking and desired to become a Chef. At age 12 he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, labeling him a High Functioning Autistic male. This new title did not discourage him from achieving his dreams and goals of someday being able to put smile on as many faces as possible with the creations. Demein has faced many obstacles and set backs that slowed down his progress but there was still progress.

color by touch with tap and fill to make coloring easier with swollen or arthritic hands.

obtained her French Baccalaureate. She attended IBME in Switzerland, graduating with a degree

She currently lives in the Missouri Ozarks with her husband and three sons, one of whom has

the Missouri Autism Report magazine. Two of her stories have been published in Chicken Soup

later this year. She is currently working on a Christmas novel, a devotional for parents of

children with special needs, and writing a collection of stories about unwanted dogs that were

taken in by Dog’s Nation and trained to become service dogs for veterans and individuals on the

autism spectrum, and translating two autism books for children (authored by Dr. Linda Barboa

Cara is passionate and excited about providing quality treatment to children with special needs. This is evident by her additional training and drive to seek new and fun ways to help children to achieve their goals. By forming a partnership with the caregiver, goals for therapy can be met faster and while everyone is having fun!

Cara Koscinski has her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and has been a therapist since 1997. She is currently attending university for her doctorate in occupational therapy. Her anticipated graduation date is August 2019.

She is a homeschooling mother to her own children with special needs.

After Cara’s children were diagnosed with autism, Cara sought out services to benefit the boys.  She could not find a therapy center that provided both quality therapy for autism and Sensory Processing Disorder AND that provided direct education to parents for carryover of treatment.  So, she decided to create her own!  She was the Co-Founder of Aspire Pediatric Therapy, LLC which quickly grew to provide therapy at schools, in homes, and in centers located around the Pittsburgh area.Be sure to tune in!

Shawn is originally from Hollywood CA, now living in El Dorado Springs MO. She comes from a strong military family with a member of her family involved in every conflict since WWI. Her strong sense of National pride and a desire to support those who have serve our Country was a big factor in her founding of Dog's Nation over 10 years ago.

Dog's Nation is the largest Pit Bull rescue in Missouri with 60+ dogs in her care. Dog's Nation rescues abandoned and surrendered dogs. Some of the rescued dogs have physical or behavioral issues and therefore will stay in Dog's Nation's loving care for the rest of their life. Others, who have exhibited the proper temperament and disposition, are trained as qualified service dogs. These life saving dogs are then gifted to those in need, pro bono. Dog's Nation provides service dogs for military veterans with physical, mental, and/or emotional issues as well as families of children with the ever-growing condition of Autism. Be sure to tune in!

On the first episode of season 3, Eli & Toni chat with Dr. Erik Suh! Born in Seoul, Korea in 1969, Dr. Erik Suh immigrated to the United States when he was 8 years old and started the journey of becoming a doctor.  He attended Baylor University for his bachelor degree in biology, and went on to the University of Texas School of Medicine for his MD degree.  Dr. Suh chose to go into family medicine and completed his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program and became a board certified family physician. Be sure to tune!

As a high school student, Shelli tutored children with special needs at Delaware Elementary as well as learned sign language to better communicate with those who were hearing impaired. Now being a mother to Josh and Izzy, both affected by autism, Shelli is even more so connected with the disability community. Shelli is a parent mentor with the Missouri Family to Family and sits on the Abilities First Advisory Committee as a Parent Advocate. Shelli has given presentations to churches and universities on a variety of topics related to autism and special needs.Church was a foundation in Shelli's upbringing; a heritage she wanted to pass on to her children. Like many families in the autism community church was very difficult to be a part of. Sensory overloads and lack of understanding and support drove Shelli to write Steps, Forming a Disability Ministry. Steps is a frame work for churches to began the process of meeting the spiritual needs of the individuals and families with disabilities.
