It’s been a little while but we’re back with the ~~40th~~ episode of the Night Vision Podcast. With summer soon coming to an end, so to does the festival season for all of us here at Night Vision (no Burning Man for the crew this year, sadly :(. To commemorate another inspiring season of Western Canada’s finest celebrations of electronic music, we felt it only natural to expand on DMT’s annual Shambhalove podcast mix as the community vibes truly ran all summer long. Although super banger techno is my first love and I will always be buying crates of it, I really dislike listening to it in podcast format because the context is so inappropriate. I've been wanting to put together a bunch of spring-like songs for a while, but only doing those kind of tunes for this mix would have been a disservice to the rest of the Refuge sound and I also wouldn't have been able to include some of the songs I think the night vision peeps would enjoy. I think I summarized the Refuge sound using mostly springtime songs that are distinctly my style and was also able to include a few local pressings and a dab of harder stuff too. This episode features this year’s edition of DMT’s annual Shambhalove mix! Although it was mixed by our boys DMT, it was a collaborative effort between the whole Night Vision crew to try and capture our time at Shambhala, and what the festival as a whole meant to us this year. The mix contains tracks that illustrate some of our favourite moments at the farm, and it follows the progression of a night at a festival: starting at sunset, going into the party hour, through the deepest, darkest part of the night, and breaking through with euphoria as the sun comes up.
