Welcome to DC! This show is a unique blend of sports + pop culture, with a pinch of politics... after all DC is the capital of the world! Cursed or not we can debate, but we are always focused on OUR teams! If you want a fans raw perspective on the Football Commanders, Nationals, Capitals, or Wizards this is the show for you!
Oh man... there is nothing like the offseason in Washington DC. Why does anyone cheer for the Commanders? Our former HC is now a talking head on ESPN and just in case you had interest in maybe the Capitals or Wizards both are not doing so well these days... Caps making trades while the Wiz lost 16 straight before an "upset" win vs the Hornets. Plus, why would you ever get in the ring with Mike Tyson? Mike might legit put a gap in Jake's chest if this fight ever happens!
How did the 49ers lose the big one? Chiefs started slow but ended perfectly and any discussion about best coach or QB of all time must include the current duo in KC. Looking forward the Commanders keep hiring coaches and the Marty's are still employed while in Florida... pitchers and catchers have officially reported!
The boys are locked and loaded ready to discuss all the events surrounding the Commanders from the past week. New head coach, new OC, new DC and they seem "locked in" to do some hard work together. Razzle and Stevie have some interesting prop bets and FP is already mixing the super bowl kool-aid for next season!
Ben Johnson made it official while the Commanders were in route to interview him that he will not be leaving Detroit and similarly Slowik agreed to an extension to stay with the Texans meaning the Commanders may pull out a play from the old playbook we like to call the "Zorn"... Is this an early "L" for the new ownership? + Should the Ravens consider trading Lamar and Dan Campbell thoughts from the boys. If you had to pick one celebrity to see fifty times a game do you want to see Taylor or Marshall ? The Nationals are getting new uniforms, the Orioles just sold AND will we see a 100pt game in the NBA?
Divisional Playoff Weekend may be the better than opening weekend in the NFL and watching Pat Mahomes on the field is tough when there is so much Chiefs off the field nonsense that is part of the package. The Ravens rolled, the 49ers survived, and the Lions are on a heater! Closer to home, in DC, the team is considering a QB at 2 (NO!!!!), the Eagles are flirting with Ron, and Joel Embiid went for 70pts on the anniversary of Kobe's 81 pt performance. + Would you chop a $9m pot with 12 others?
Bills and Lions look solid as they advance, Bucs too, and the Chiefs leave us wondering how much magic is left in the tank? The Eagles and the Cowboys both lost ending the NFC east representation in the playoffs and locally the Commanders have their new GM in place with interviews starting later this week for their open head coach position!
Join the crew as they cover all angles of Ron being fired as head coached and GM... why did Josh go with an outside hire to lead the GM/HC search? Was Magic involved and how long have these guys been in place to make the announcement so quickly! Penix and the Huskies struggled in the loss to Michigan BUT could the Commanders target him as a late round pick to pair with the coach that just beat him ? +One team we love and one team we dont as the NFL playoffs start in just a few days... #HTTC
Happy New Year from our DTC crew to everyone out there! We are closing on some huge show milestones and want to thank everyone involved... thank you thank you! The Commanders will continue to stink with one game remaining, did you win or lose your fantasy league, and are the Browns the most dangerous team in the NFL right now? ... also Stevie and his new pants + the NBA is over.
The boys are back in studio a day later than usual due to the Christmas holiday but they got a LOT of opinions on a pending QB change, what to do with a top 5 pick, and many questions related to two legacy Ravens QBs, ... the NFL playoff picture is starting to take shape with almost every seed still shifting and how about those Lions!
The boys are thankful the season is almost over... Commanders are regressing although there were signs of life from individual offensive contributors. Do you start QB1 or QB2 against the Jets next week? The NFL seems wide open as we start eyeballing the playoffs, with teams like the Browns, Bucs, and Rams getting hot at just the right time! Plus, who is having the better offseason, the Yankees or the Dodgers and what does a Wiz/Caps move to Virginia mean to downtown DC!
An all around bizarre week in the NFL with upsets everywhere, odd scores, and plot twists in both the top 5 and bottom 5 teams... nobody is tanking, except maybe the _____ . The NBA in-season tournament has ended, with the Lakers beating the Pacers... will anyone care next year, or the year after? Could the Wiz/Caps make the move to Alexandria? Why not build a super sports plex in DC where RFK currently sits? Chase Young has done nothing, Montez has some thoughts on Ron, Aaron Rodgers is set to make history and is anyone worth $70million a season?
Join the boys for a midweek treat taking a look around the NFL. There is no way this coaching staff in DC returns next year... right? Which teams are streaking as we near the playoffs + why all of a sudden the NBA in-season tournament is low-key awesome. And what happened with the Nationals on MLB Draft Lottery Day... and will the Wizards ever be good again? So much to chat about! Join us!
*Pete from Philly joins the show as the boys are yucking it up after another Commanders loss.... they continue to sink further into irrelevance and the culture talk is making everyone sick these days... thats the culture of the team... Irrelevant. Dolphins are rolling as are the 49ers and while the NBA season is ongoing there is not much to talk about on the court… BUT…. what is Mark Cuban doing?
The boys are back after the (best) holiday break to discuss the loss to the cowboys, the firing of JDR, the potential for new GMs and HCs to be considered and take a general look around the league as the best teams are miles better than the good teams and a few are back from the dead (Broncos?). Plus, how SI used AI to trick its readers.... and will the wiz rebuild faster than the commanders?
The boys are struggling to come up with a #Commanders thanksgiving list beyond ownership change, the team looks terrible vs the Giants, Ron and JDR still employed, and Sam is regressing... yuck. Angel suspended, Ovi surging, Jordan Poole is already turning heel in DC, and Dana White inspires the boys with his 86 hour liquid fast. Happy Thanksgiving!
Miss a FG early, get players ejected, penalties late, and lack of clock management ... welcome to Washington Football. Ron was out coached by someone double his age but the Commanders COULD have pulled out a win... instead, it's a loss and the season is likely over. Sam is growing, future may be bright, but right now, the sting is real.
The boys are locked in after a road win in New England brings the Commanders back into the playoff picture. While there were a few stinker games (ravens) there was also a few surprising ones too (vikings).... "Dobbs is crazy good for a below average QB" + Clay Travis a 100% correct, a good HS Boys team would destroy the WNBA's ACEs in a game, or a series. (No, we don't want Ron or Billy B here in DC next season!)
The Washington Commanders rebuild has started. Tez and Sweat both traded. Listen in to FP and LP disect the trade.
How do you handle Halloween as an adult? Death on the ice in England (super sad situation), the UFC/Boxing obsession grows for one show cast-member + Commanders jump out to a lead but fail to beat the Eagles... again! The NFL top 5 and low 5 are here to close out week seven and Stevie helps us get ready for game three of the world series which has been shockingly eventful even though nobody is watching!
FP and Joe are in studio discussing the fiery furnace that is currently Coach Ron's seat and what can be done to turn it down a tad. They took around the league on a week full of upset wins and while the NHL and NBA seasons are getting rolling the baseball season is almost at its final matchup with one matchup NOBODY wants to see looming large.
The boys are hot. The Commanders, Football Team, Redskins... doesn't matter... when they should win the regularly lose! Offense was flat, defense was leaky, special teams failed (less a crucial recovery)... but why can't this team find it's groove early on. The longest seven minutes...
The boys recap the full slate of NFL games including the Commanders win in ATL to improve to 3-3... reminder, they beat nobody as FP says. The NFL is basically a bunch of .500 teams, the CAPS are back on the ice, and Bryce homers on his birthday... do we cheer or never/ever cheer?
Commanders slip in the power rankings but given cooler heads have come forth since the Bears loss the boys are enthralled with playoff baseball. Bryce did Bryce things in ATL while the Diamondbacks may be demonstrating why the new playoff model is flawed with favorite teams losing! +ESPN will roll out "FROZEN FRENZY" on opening night as we see the Red-Zone-ification of sports continue from NFL to GoalRush and now Frozen Frenzy can the NBA do something similar and would anyone care? Join the boys; like and share.
The boys are hot after an absolutely embarrassing lose at home in primetime... tell us a new story! Nothing ever changes for the fans of this terrible football team. Coaches grade out at an F but frankly so should everyone else... there are no positive take-aways when you lose to the worst team in the league and look terrible doing it! How do you lose to a QB that creates 15 passes, eight of which are to ONE wide receiver!? Burn it all down!
The boys are in studio to recap the Commanders win/lose vs the Eagles... scoreboard says one thing, eyes say another + a look around the NFC East with Pete from Philly, updated power rankings... where do the vikings/patriots/broncos slot in, and a little baseball discussion as well which highlights what we already knew... baseball Joe knows nothing!
The Commanders fall to 2-1 with a tough matchup against Philly coming up next. The Broncos lose in a way that may never be replicated. Jimmy G, the other one, is still in the league catching touchdowns (how!?), and what do we make of Russell Brand and Dave Portnoy news over the past week... tune in and get caught up!
The Commanders went into Mile High and looked to be on the business end of a loss before turning things around in the second half and pulling out an improbably victory. Chase returned to action and looked great! Sam and the offense looked confident... and the coaches looked flexible and focused! The Broncos looked bad but not worse than the Bears. The Cowboys still look scary but the Bills look beatable as we head into week 3. Join us to break it all down and relive a wild week 2!
So much to recap after week one of the 2023 NFL season. The Commanders started off with a win but they left us asking so.many.questions! Rodgers is likely done, might the Jets trade for Jacoby? or Heinicke? Philips? Ryan? ... who knows but they are toast. Bills, Bengals, Chiefs all looked terrible, which is most likely to recover? Finally the top 5 and low 5 teams in the league... 49ers and Cowboys maybe Jags... who else? Tune in and find out!
The Washington Commanders officially have a new owner, Josh Harris and group have bought the team for $6.05 Billion. The vote is in and the papers are signed tomorrow. LP and FP are excited and so is ALL OF THE DMV. LET'S GO COMMANDERS. Hail to the Redskins
It's been a long winter but the night is darkest before the dawn. We are potentially just days away from the end of the Synder in DC and Joe and FP still think its not going to happen... plus Ron is terribly overrated according to Joe and why FP thinks the defense is closer to good than bad. The boys also talk about other DC sports happenings and set the stage for a revival.
Eric Beinemy has been hired as Ron's Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Join LP and FP as they react to the hire. Could it be anything other than an A+? Given all the names rumored it was absolutely the best case scenario. Why would EB want to come to DC? Could it be a really good shot? And work under a coach who is similar to Andy Reid? What about the other QBs this offseason, where are they going to go? Daniel Jones, Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers, Zach Wilson all discussed with a little bit of XFL in there too. The beer snake is awesome!
We are back! Join FP, Stevie, and Joe to check-in on all things DTC, where have the boys been and what's coming next? Will the SB be a dud? Must watch TV for after-football-life? Biden SOTU speech drinking games... and special guest "Pete from Philly" joins the boys to pick over/under's and prop bets before Sunday's NFL season finale.
Heinicke is back, with a new pair of green and yellow Jordans. Listen in to FP and LP breaking down the Commanders win against Green Bay and preview the Colts game. Let us know what you think @defeatthecurse on Elon Musk's app, Twitter.
FP and LP are back at it with some passion! Ron Rivera had some interesting comments about why the Commanders are 1-4 yet the Eagles are 5-0, Cowboys and Giants 4-1. Three segments to the show, the coaching staff, Carson Wentz, and what the team need to do to get better. Listen in and let us know what you think @defeatthecurse on twitter
On this episode FP and LP plea to Ron Rivera to TRY SOMETHING different. This team is too predictable, the Lions knew it and the Eagles knew it. After an abysmal outing against the Eagles the Commanders are back at it with another NFC East division rival, the Dallas Cowboys. How can the Commanders get back on track? Do they have a fighting chance? Listen in and let us know what you think @defeatthecurse on Twiter.

Welcome into Defeating the Curse, a DC Sports Podcast. Dive in with FP and LP as they recap the Commanders victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars and preview the Detroit Lions. There was plenty to like and a few things to dislike about the Commanders performance. But hey, it's only week 1 let's not over or under react to one victory. #HTTC

Stevie, Razzle, and Joe are recapping a wild week one around the NFL with unlikely winners, suspect losers, and some tough betting spots as well. Carson is a wild one that will take advantage of his big play receivers at every opportunity he can.. even if that means being a tad too aggressive at times. Panic time for the Rams? Packers? 49ers?... and how poor was the Broncos game on Monday night?? Football is back, the show is back, RIP to the Queen.

Stevie, FP, and Joe are ready to talk about week one! The NFL is back! Tune in to find out just how up or down the boys are on the upcoming Commanders season + a top5 and low5 look around the league. FP and Stevie have the Chiefs in their top five, while Joe has the Chargers and Saints in his. Also, why was BALLERS so good?

NFL Week 1 is finally here! Join FP and LP as they discuss this week's slate of NFL games and dive deeper into Carson Wentz's regular season debut with the Washington Commanders. Plus who is FP's and LP's sleeper pick for the week? Join in and give us your thoughts on twitter @defeatthecurse

FP and Joe are on the mics and are looking forward as the Commanders prepare to make their final roster cuts and likely roster additions as they await linebackers to be cut from other teams... isn't it crazy other teams 4th and 5th options will likely start in DC!? The boys also breakdown the DC QB room, RB stable, and WRs while considering just how good or bad can this team be in the NFC east.
Mic check, mic check... Stevie and Joe are return to the pod to catch-up on a few different topics while the dust settles on summer 2022. Nationals trade their brightest star, after trading their previous brightest stars, after letting their stud slugger leave town... and Stevie is convinced Mike Rizzo can rebuild the team (again... and quickly)! The Commanders look worse defensively but the real chatter is about the Lions on HARD KNOCKS... Tiger isn't going to LIV, Manti T'eo has a must watch documentary on Netflix that must be watched ... and what do you expect from a Game of Thrones reboot/spin-off? Welcome back to DTC.
Terry McLaruin inks his deal, Dan Synder is in the middle of a mess but it doesn't seem to bother him. Join LP and FP discuss everything DC Sports over the last few weeks.
FP and LP are back at it, talking Commanders, Caps, Wizards, NBA and NHL playoffs. Catch up on the offseason for all 3 DC teams and what they can do to go deeper into the playoffs.
Could the end be near for Commanders owner Dan Snyder after leaked reports show ticket sales were padded and not disclosed to the other NFL owners? What if the team moves to London, could another team be relocated to DC? Plus, remembering #7 and a quick chat about the Capitals and how they remind Joe of old guys playing basketball stringing together wins by outsmarting the competition. Listen now as FP and Joe discuss it all and remember you can live tweet the show anytime from any social media platform!
“FP and LP discuss their favorite time of year. Free agency shuffle and the QB carousel. Did the Commanders do the smart move? Which teams improved or got worse? With the AFC exodus is the NFC wide open and ready for Washington to TAKE COMMAND?
The Commanders will have a new face of the franchise at the start of next season and it will be Carson Wentz! After weeks of back and forth about trading for Watson, or Rodgers (never), or Wilson (ha!), the Comms landed Wentz for a very reasonable asking price from the Colts... but why so cheap? Stevie, Joe, and FP go through all the events of the past few days and grade the Comms on their new acquisition... but what happens next, specifically what do they do with the 11th overall pick? It's been a wild 48 hours in the NFL and the DTC crew is here for it all!
FP and LP are back on the mics! Talking quarterbacks for the Commanders. Lots of names to discuss, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Derek Carr, Baker Mayfield, Carson Wentz, Jimmy G, Mitch Trubisky all discussed on this episode. Which would you want as a Commanders fan? Listen in to here where LP and FP want the Commanders to go.
Stevie and Joe are on the mics and are ready to talk about everything post-NFL. Should the Saudi's standup a rival to the PGA? Can the NBA ever recapture the magic of the early 2000s east/west all-star game and dunk contests? What does a real offer to Juan Soto look like if you are the Nationals + Zim's legacy is sealed in DC.
Stevie, Razzle, and Joe are on the mics to discuss the Super Bowl and recap the game, the big plays, the missed plays, the coaching and everything in between. The boys also break down the half-time show and debate which performer should have been left out. What happens now that football is over? Do we prioritize the Wizards or the Capitals?... will baseball ever return?
The NBA is nuts. The NBA trade deadline was extra nuts. The Wizards didn't trade Brad. ALSO.... It's Super Week and the boys are ready to make their pics! Stevie and Razzle are on the RAMS and Joe is on the Bengals... but there is a lot of confusion about who might be MVP and over/under QB rushing yards as a prop bet too. The boys also debate if this is the beginning of the end for Dan in DC and break down hyper inflation and the housing market because why not... tune in!
The Redskins became the Football Team and have now become the Commanders. The name isn't terrible but why did it seem the organization was unprepared for an announcement of this magnitude? Three guys sitting out on the lawn? No stage? No hype video? ... just seemed lacking... but it is finished. Today the name changed, and tomorrow congress will begin in their inquiry into allegations of misconduct. Busy few days in DC.
In a few days the #Redskins will be renamed to "something"... finally! FP and Joe revisit the AFC/NFC Championship games and debate if the WFT have a chance at landing Jimmy G after the 49ers fall short of the Super Bowl. Both boys think the Bengals have a chance but how can you not cheer for Mathew Stafford? Conversely, Joey B makes us all believe miracles can happen... and happen quickly! Check out this episode, like, share, and enter to win a Kontender bottle opener too!
Join the boys as they relive the greatest weekend in NFL playoff history! Four games, four amazing games, and now what? Can the rest of the playoffs be as exciting? (no) + The boys try really hard not to bring up the WFT and our friend the Mountain Man visits the show from Denver to give us his insightful(?) hot-takes + Stevie is addicted to sandwiches.
Join the boys on Sunday night to recap the games that were (Bengals/Bills/Bucs/49ers), the game that is (KC), and to look ahead to the one that is yet to come on Monday. WarHogs and Alliance are two names making a late run in DC + snow as an adult is terrible. Stevie is also eating more sandwiches these days and 20 is afraid of having an adult opinion.
The DC Football Commanders? The DC FC? or how about the WarHogs?
Stevie, Razzle, and Joe are ready to put the final season of the Washington Football Team to rest. It was eventful, disappointing, and most importantly the last one for the team formally known as the Redskins under their temporary name. With their new name set to be announced in a few weeks the boys talk about Highs and Lows for the season, and what may be coming next for the franchise. The boys also pick winners for every NFL matchup on the slate for Wild Card weekend and Stevie makes a few surprise (early) Super Bowl picks too!
The WFT needed a win against the surging Eagles to keep their playoff hopes alive but were unable to get it done at FedEx in the final home game of the season. To add insult to injury, part of the stadium collapsed as well almost injuring Jalen Hurts and several others. Stevie and Joe debate was the loss more of a poor performance on the field or did it have more with the play calling on both offense and defense. Regardless, WFT have been eliminated with one game to go next week in NY against the Giants.
Stevie and Joe are back to discuss the legend of John Madden and what he meant to generations of football fans. Some knew him as a coach, others as a tv analyst, and most today know him as the name behind the most popular football video game on the planet. The boys also discuss the disaster that was Sunday Night in Dallas and Stevie shares how he has been passing time the past week which includes watching a lot of Clinton Portis highlights!
There were a number of reasons (besides COVID) that led to WFT losing to the Eagles on Tuesday night... the primary reason, the defense struggled giving up over 500 yards. The Football Team drops to 6-8 and are headed to Dallas in a must win + need help situation to keep their playoff hopes alive. Razzle/Manny/Joe break it all down on this episode of DTC...
Razzle and Joe are here to get you set for the WFT vs the Eagles on Tuesday night... there are so many playoff implications and a never ending list of COVID19 players that have to be accounted for that all bets are off heading into what is effectively a must-win for both teams! The duo take a quick glance around the NFL, recap the best games of the week, look forward towards the playoffs and try to figure out which teams have a chance to make some noise if they can get in to that 7th seed. Plus, why is RG3 still asking to play QB?
Stevie and Joe fire up the mics for a rare mid-day show but there is just too much to discuss to wait any longer! Dallas took over FedEx and the brave WFT fans that paid to go to the game the first half was terrible, the second half was better, but the team just couldn't pull out a win in the end. WFT still control their playoff destiny but need a win against Philly to keep the train on its tracks... how can they do that without half their defensive starters?? + Wiz are sliding and Beal may be done + why is hot chocolate so good!?
FP and Joe are pumped because its DALLAS WEEK! We want DALLAS, We Want DALALS! Those words still mean something to diehard DC fans! WFT is coming in on a 4 game win streak playing with house money whereas the pressure is on the Cowboys... all of it! Shelly J joins the show (21:00) to preview the matchup further and Joe V (36:00) helps everyone pick some fantasy sits/starts as we head into the final playoff push. + Joe has a slightly changed Top 5 and the Lions aren't the worst team in the league anymore! Also, how are the Patriots winning games while throwing the ball only 3 times against the (overrated) Bills?
The WFT traveled to Las Vegas and earned a big big win to pull their season record to 6-6. It's all eyes on the Cowboys as Dallas-Week officially begins in DC and it couldn't come at a better time! The WFT have work to do but they are in the drivers seat and control their own destiny down the stretch with only divisional matchups remaining throughout the NFC East. Hail to the Football Team!
FP and Joe are heading to VEGAS to see the WFT extend their win streak to four... maybe! Ron was HOT after the big MNF win and with Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror all eyes are on Christmas which means the [fantasy] playoffs are just around the corner ... you asked, we delivered, fantasy expert Joe Votruba joins the boys to pick second half sleepers! Don't miss this show!
Stevie is back (and pounding cookies) ready to talk #FootballTeam and the potential of meaningful games in December... will there be a playoff push? Joe says "yes" if they split (or win) the next two against the Seahawks then the Raiders... can the WFT reverse the primetime curse? The duo also get into Thanksgiving traditions and Lebron starting another malice at the palace nearly seven years to the day after the first.
The WFT traveled to Carolina to face the Panthers and Ron got the better of his former QB this time. The WFT defense looked steady from start to finish keeping Cam and CMC in front of them for most of the game while the WFT offense ran for more yards than they passed for... interesting!? DC gets a quality win to extend their win streak to two in a row with a MNF matchup against the Seahawks next. Joe talks about it all on this postgame live show LIVE on the Kontender!
The mics are hot as Joe and 20 preview WFT v Carolina... the Ron/Cam showdown + there is a strong disagreement on which teams belong atop the NFL rankings and just how low the Lions could go. The duo also discuss the red-hot Wizards and debate some of the best all-time "guy" TV shows from The League to Ballers and why is everyone obsessed with Curb?
Joe and Anthony dive deep into the WFT's improbable win against the Bucs and try to decipher just how Taylor and the offense managed a 10min drive to ice Brady and the Super Bowl champs. How does a team make TB12 look average? + What Ron Rivera + JDR plan to do now that Chase is out for the season. (Is WFT going to the playoffs!? uh-o!)
The WFT returns to practice after a week away and things are interesting to say the least? Joe and Stevie discuss the timing of the kicker swap (second time this season)... why not make the change last week from Chris to Joey? What is Ron thinking now? + the boys get caught up on Rodgers vs VAX and OBJ vs the league... where will he land... Joe says maybe GB or NOLA, Stevie is big on the Ravens... much to discuss leading up to our preview of Brady coming back to DC in just a few short days; stay tuned!
The WFT is on bye this week which is great news for fans because they can't lose or drive everyone insane on Sunday afternoon. Rivera almost traded for a QB but thankfully it fell apart... thankfully! The league is curious about Rodgers vax status now that he will miss a game or two and the NBA season is a few weeks old now and the Wizards at 5-3 are built to be playing meaningful games post all-star break... right? Join the boys as they discuss it all!
Joe is riding solo and has thoughts on the WFT losing to the Broncos... everyone has to go... everyone! Almost halfway through the NFL season Joe has his top 10 teams to share + should Drew Brees return to the Saints? if not, should Philip Rivers? The World Series is heading to Game 6 (and Joe predicts game 7 too) plus if you live in Virginia, go VOTE on Tuesday! Let's Go Brandon!
Stevie, Mat, and Joe are getting set for the World Series and doing their best to ignore the Football Team and their continued regression. The boys discuss the H-town v ATL match-up plus some prop bets of note including overall home runs for the series set at 18.5... that could be juicy!
The Washington Football Team traveled to Green Bay to face the Packers and ultimately lost by 14 BUT the game could have gone very differently! The great Bill Rohland joins Joe to discuss the game beyond the numbers ... did the defense have their best performance? (yes). Did the offense keep pace with the Packers? (yup, out-gained them actually). Did Green Bay continue their trend of giving up touchdowns in the red-zone? (nope). The Football Team had several chances today to get meaningful points but just couldn't get it done and ultimately drop a tough one to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers on the road. Bill and Joe break it all down and what it means for the WFT as they prepare to face the Broncos in Denver next week.
House committee says it will investigate the NFL's handling of Washington Football team workplace misconduct. Ron moves Landon Collins to linebacker but Landon refuses to be called a linebacker. Odd right? A football player doesn't want to hit guys bigger than him...even more odd. Week 7 bets and props are also on display by FP and LP. Listen, Like, Share @defeatthecurse on twitter.
The WFT is heading to Green Bay to face Aaron Rodgers and the streaking Packers that may win by 35+ if the DC defense cant figure things out quickly. Stevie and Joe take a look around the NFL to identify their top 5 and low 5 + Ron surprises everyone by letting go of Hopkins and his 85% made FG rate... why now Ron? Why? The Dodgers are in trouble but are still alive and the Red Sox might go streaking soon. Does anything compare to playoff baseball!?
The DTC mics are on and the boys are hot about another terrible showing for the Football Team as the defense continues to struggle, allowing 21 points and scoring ZERO in the second half against KC. The retirement ceremony for Sean Taylor was a disgrace and Joe has thoughts about what could have been done differently. Absolute embarrassment. Why does WFT run 5 yard slants on 3rd and 8? Anyone know? Meanwhile the Cowboys are running away with the NFC East. + the Capitals are looking good and the MLB playoffs are amazing!
FP, LP, and Joe look forward to Chiefs v Football Team on Sunday and the defensive masacre that may be awaiting both teams. The trio covers the NFL top and bottom teams as well and the fall out from Vegas now that Gruden has been fired by the Raiders. Finally, the CAPITALS season begins tonight and FP is ready ready ready!
Jon Gruden resigns amidst horrible emails are leaked however Washington Football Team (the source of the emails) remain unscathed. Does this re-open the investigation on Washington Football Team? How many other NFL execs and coaches were also in on this? Where are the Beth Wilkinson findings??? On the field Washington is struggling once again. FP wants Ron Rivera to lay out his plan while LP thinks he doesn't need to report to the media, fans, etc. Which side are you on? This pod gets a little testy between FP and LP, must listen!
FP and Joe share thoughts on the WFT facility being raided as part of an ongoing investigation... whatever is happening, it isn't good. The duo also talk top 5 and low 5 while looking around the NFL and get into all things New Orleans leading up to the battle of the 2-2's. Alec from the FullPressSaints Podcast and Final Drive on FishBowl radio joins the DTC crew during the second half for an extended deep dive into the up's and down's of the Saints so far this season + Taysom Teasers and prop bets! Thanks for listening!
While the Nationals season is over here in DC the MLB playoffs are just getting started. Stevie, Mat, and Joe preview the post-season while putting to rest a tough year for the Nats + we are watching the Yankees and Red Sox in real-time too! What is Juan Soto worth today? In Rizzo we trust!
The WFT traveled south to ATL to face the Falcons and came away with a victory. Did they play well? Sorta? The Falcons had their moments and the Football Team did as well. 2-2 looks a lot better than 1-3 but they honestly feel the same right now. Chase Young got flagged for a terrible penalty, but the refs gave it back on the next possession. WFT is going to set a record for number of 3rd plays they give up that turn into touchdowns! If that's not a stat, it needs to be! A win is a win... but this doesn't feel great.
Looking to make some $$$? You probably should leave WFT off your betslip. Look no further than FP and LP's Sunday prediction picks. LP and FP dive into each game making their predictions for the spread and O/Us. Looking to make $8,396.37? Pick all the money line picks and you can make that with just a $10 wager. Or Just pick a few and still make some money.
The loss in Buffalo still stings but the show must go on... literally. The boys will discuss what did and didn't work against the Bills, look ahead to the Falcons, and react to a few of coach Ron's soundbites from his weekly radio hit. Also, Peyton/Eli are a perfect alt broadcast that is still under appreciated!
Joe is solo and live on the Kontender network for the WFT Post game show! Washington traveled to Buffalo and got run out of the building 43-21 and in reality it should have been much worse for the Football Team. The offense lacked creativity, the defense lacks everything, and special teams was the lone bright spot but in the end, it was a terrible team performance. The schedule only has a handful of "win-able" games remaining based on the defensive play we have seen in the first three weeks of the season.
Bill Rohland joins Stevie and Joe for a look around the NFL... which teams are trending up, which not so up, and each have one or two teams to watch to keep an eye on as well! Peyton/Eli should be the main MNF broadcast; does anyone disagree? AND keys to a WFT win at Buffalo this weekend as told by our friends at the Not Another Bills Podcast!
Razzle and Joe recap week two around the NFL including a closer look at two NFC east rivals in Dallas and Philadelphia. The duo discuss the sweetness of having the WFT win on Thursday and thus having no threat of a ruined Sunday due to loss AND debate the genius behind the Manning and Manning ESPN2 Monday Night Football broadcast. The second half of the show DTC welcomes Jamie D'Amico from the Jamie D and Big Newt Podcast (SB Nation) who covers the Bills to preview week three and talk about the ridiculous 8.5 spread for the WFT as they head to Buffalo.
Looking to make some $$$ on a Sunday when Washington Football Team has the day off? Look no further than FP and LP's Sunday prediction picks. LP and FP dive into each game making their predictions for the spread and O/Us. Looking to make $9,776.59? Pick all the money line picks and you can make that with just a $10 wager. Or Just pick a few and still make some money. All fun and games, especially when your team is not involved. Hail to the Football Team!
FP, Razzle, & Joe recap the WFT beating the NY Giants in dramatic fashion and discuss the highs and lows on both sides of the ball. Is the primetime curse over!? Taylor Heinicke may have "it" while Daniel Jones seems to only have "it" when he faces Washington. If the WFT is going to have success this season the D-Line has to decide whether they are elite or average or below average... for now a win is a win! #HTTFT
Stevie Joe and Razzle revisit week 1 from around the NFL focusing on the teams that looked terrible, like the Packers and WFT, and the teams that looked amazing, like the entire NFC West! The boys break down the WFT loss at home to the Chargers and then turn their attention to the Giants with that week 2 matchup looming in just 48 hours! Antonio Reyes, who covers the Giants, joins the show and just like last week, continues the trend of guests picking WFT to win in a close one. Can Taylor lead this offense to victory? Can Chase and the WFT defense get right on Thursday night? There is much to discuss!
Happy Football! The 2021 season has begun with a fun one in Tampa Bay. The Bucs beat the Cowboys to start the season but the Bucs didn't look that great, and the Cowboys looked much better than expected... so naturally, there was a little panic in Washington as Dallas doesn't face a playoff team for another 10 weeks! Stevie, Razzle, and Joe breakdown the opening night matchup and look forward predicting division and conference champs with a few surprise pics for the Super Bowl as well! Happy football!
Week 1 is here! Chargers are heading to DC to face the Football Team and this is the only show you need to listen to get ready! Special guest Lucas (@sugarfreelucas) from the TUFF Podcast joins the DTC crew to talk details about Justin Herbert's progress this offseason, Austin Ekeler becoming Alvin Kamara-lite, and why the Bolts could be a 10 win team. He also had some very nice things to say about WFT and didn't think Joe was insane for his 12 win prediction... If you have 30 mins and want to get ready for game 1 hit play and enjoy!
The DTC 2021 season preview show is here! Stevie, Razzle, and Joe breakdown the entire season, wins/losses, and everything in between. Spoiler alert: all three of them have the WFT over 8.5 wins (lock that bet in now) and all three have them winning the NFC East as well! Tune in and get caught up on everything you need to know before the season begins! Hail to the Football Team! #HTTR
The final 53 has been set, for now. The surprise cut around the league is certainly Cam Newton, but WFT had some surprise cuts as well. Jimmy Mooreland, Jeremy Reaves, Antonio Gandy-Golden are just some to mention. Sure they were probably back of the roster guys but they have also played significant time in Washington. Is this a sign of the depth of the team this year? Ron Rivera says they are not done at LB, but who are they targeting? Plus who are you taking at number 5 in your fantasy drafts? FP is taking CEH....uhhh ok. We'll leave it at that. Listen, Like, Share and Follow @defeatthecurse on twitter.
P.S. Who is taking Angola over Egypt at +700?
Fire up the mics and lets go! Stevie and Joe are in the booth discussing preseason football, the WFT deep (super deep) list of pass catchers, the Nationals (un)surprisingly exciting youth-movement, Lebron getting zippy MVP votes, and we share our top 5 replacement names for the Football Team. Stevie shared a few original names including one #GameOfThrones themed name, and Joe shared a bunch of classics including Hogs and Valor! Tell us which you prefer! The show wraps with a chat on world events/current events ... everyone will learn something on this episode of the pod. Subscribe and share!
Preseason week 1 is in the books, and on to week 2. In the first preseason game Chase Young had a monster forced fumble, the defense looked great, top 5 is very achievable. Jamin Davis looked a little lost but there is no reason to be concerned, he is a rookie and is learning how to be a star in the NFL> Afterall isn't that what preseason is about? The offense also looked solid. Fitz was Fitz and Heinicke showed that it wasn't just a game and a half but he MIGHT be able to do this for real. Jarret Patterson looks like he belongs in the NFL, and can do a little bit of everything. Listen in to FP and LP discuss their thoughts on NFL preseason game and and look forward to preseason game 2. Follow us on Twitter @DefeatTheCurse and let us know what you think of this team.

Joe and Stevie catch up on a plethora of topics as a new football season begins. Fitz is clearly QB1 and everyone SHOULD be ok with that. DC still hurting after the Nationals big trade but how long until they are competitive again? Could the NBA take a page out of the MLB / NHL playbook and have the Nets and Knicks play in Rucker Park? What is old is new again! +the debut of our new show intro! (still working out some technical details... but we are excited to be back in the booth creating content!)
Washington Football Team preseason is here! How much will the starters play? Who are you looking forward to seeing this Thursday? LP and FP discuss on the pod.
After a long winter (many years long) Joe and LP fire up the mics to discuss a plethora of topics ranging from the NFL vax policy to the USA winning the Gold Cup to the Olympics, Euros, the NBA shifting landscape with the Wizards involved in a blockbuster trade, and expectations for the Football Team... could they win the NFC East by more than 2.5 games? ...recorded live... welcome and enjoy!
The NBA is slowly dying. Super teams are annoying. Lebron James is out of the playoffs and changing his jersey again. The Wizards made the playoffs but really had absolutely no chance. The Caps are eliminated in the first round once again. WFT is looking more and more like a really, really REALLY strong contender in the NFC. Finally the USMNT had one of the best soccer games of the decade against El Tri.
Join in as get all set for another DC playoff run. Caps/Buins Wizards/TBD. The Caps are certainly dealing with some lingering injury issues but most look ready to go come Saturday. FP and LP discuss all things Caps/Wizards in the playoffs and a little Washington Football Team Talk. What would you give up for ARod? Let us know @DefeatTheCurse
The Bucs and the Chiefs are in; the Packers and the Bills are out. Matt Lefleur with a major coaching mistake, does that signal the end for Aaron Rodgers? Is the WFT set to make a run at Matt Stafford? The NFL offseason is about to heat up but not before we see a matchup of 2 of the best QBs to ever play the game? Who do you got? What are the best picks for the superbowl as we are finally LIVE with sports betting in Virginia, Thanks Fan Duel!

Yes! That's right Washington has a home playoff game! Join in with FP and LP preview this weeks matchup with the Tampa Bay Bucs. There's always a chance right? House money, what can Ron Rivera do to win a playoff game? We have some thoughts, but it's going to require a monster game by one specific position group. Join in to hear what that may be. It might not be what you think. Deshaun Watson may want a trade? WFT needs a QB, can they make it happen? We can all dream. Let us know what you think @DefeatTheCurse on twitter.

It DOESN'T matter that they only won 7, it doesn't matter that Hurts was taken out of the game, it doesn't matter that it wasn't pretty. it doesn't matter it just doesn't. It's the NFL and that's what happens. The Washington Football Team is the NFC East Champions, and Alex Smith just wins. 11-5 as a start in Washington, he just wins.
Dwayne Haskins had a D- game vs the Seattle Seahawks. One good quarter doesn't negate 3 horrible quarters. Dwayne Haskins had a F- Sunday. His actions after the game overshadowed (in a bad way) his D- Sunday afternoon. The WFT has some big decisions to make this week. We are GLAD Ron is in charge. Let us know what you think. @DefeatTheCurse on Twitter.
The Washington Football team has ripped off 4 straight. The defense is playing phenomenal behind the leadership of rookie, defensive player of the year, Chase Young. The offense is actually top 10 over the last 6 games but questions linger with Alex Smith's status being up in the air. Lamar Jackson had to take a deuce during the game, we've all been there, time to admit it.

The Washington Football Team has beaten the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers in a massive upset on Monday afternoon. Join LP and FP to discuss what this means for the rest of the season. Are the playoffs a real possibility once again? This is the biggest Washington football win since...? Let us know @DefeatTheCurse on Twitter!

Washington Football team chalks up another W on Thanksgiving day. What does this mean for the rest of the season? Do they have an actual chance to win the NFC East? The Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys are also a mess but are they worse off than the WFT? Click, like, share @defeatthecurse on twitter.
The bye week is here and so is the election. Listen in as we welcome back Joe and 20. The WFT beat Dallas for the first time in it seems like 10 years! But does it really matter? The division is so bad, could the winner of the division be a 6 or 7 win team? It sure sounds like it.
The pod then shifts to what's probably on everyone's mind the 2020 election is just days away. Do your part and go vote!
EXPLICIT - Beacause sometimes it needs to be done. Riverboat Ron deserves some criticism on the horrible call to go for 2 at the end of the game. The WFT was marching up and down the field and the NYG were not, there was no reason to go for 2. Join LP and FP on this pod to discuss the call and let us know what you think at @DefeatTheCurse
How bad is this football team? Did they just play a better 4 teams or are they really that bad? Join LP and FP to discuss this very topic. There is no sugar coating it, the WFT is BAD. Offense, Defense and Special Teams. FP and LP break down their versions of the blame pie. How would you split the blame pie? What about the coaching staff? All options on the table because this team is B A D bad bad bad. Tell us what you think on twitter at @DefeatTheCurse. #WashingtonFootballTeam #NFL

HUGE HUGE HUGE news! Dwayne Haskins benched. After only 4 games Haskins has been benched? Is it fair? Is it justified? LP and FP discuss all things the Washington Football Team quarterback. Let us know what you think, did Coach Rivera make the right move? Let us know @defeatthecurse on twitter!
There's been no question that Dwayne Haskins hasn't looked all-pro through three games but should he be benched? Or do we need to practice a little more patience with the young quarterback. LP and FP discuss.
Sports are finally back! NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL, and MLS are all back. Sports bubbles are working, MLB is powering through with the NFL to follow suit. Join LP and FP on all things DC Sports is back in 2020. Which DC team has the best chance to bring a title back to DC? Let us know! Listen, Like, Follow, Share!
The Redskins schedule is set and we are ready for sports to return! Razzle, Stevie, and Joe breakdown the schedule, recap the draft, and set their expectations for 2020! The boy's also discuss the Last Dance... spoiler alert, Razzle was too young to remember anything but wow, MJ was intense and Rodman was nuts! Stevie and Joe talk CoronaVirus, reopening the country, unemployment, and what to expect in a Biden v Trump showdown later this year... welcome back to DTC!
Tune in for the latest FP and LP show on the DTC podcast. All sports are still on pause and FP and LP are still going strong. Tune in to hear FP and LP's thoughts on free agency thus far and what they are looking forward to.
CoronaVirus continues to crush the souls of sports fans around the world and with no end in sight, the boys at DTC are thankful to be healthy, bitter at the lack of live sports content, and hopeful a cure/vaccine will be found soon. NFL free agency is well underway and the Redskins made an interesting moving nabbing one Carolina QB and trading away a starting DB to a bitter rival in the Pacific northwest. What else do the Redskins need to do this offseason, and if Joey B falls to two in the draft... what would YOU do? #HTTR
Join LP and FP to discuss all things sports or lack thereof. The NFL has decided free agency will continue with Tom Brady reportedly agreeing to go to Tampa Bay. The Skins reunite Rivera with Thomas Davis, and strike out on Amari Cooper.

Stevie and Joe were literally caught speechless when the #NBA announced the season had been suspended, so they took 10 mins, gathered their thoughts and then turned on the mics! The NBA season may resume with playoffs only based on current seeding, or may have play-in games, who knows, right now however, there will be no more games. European soccer is already halting games as well, travel to Europe is suspended for 30 days, and yes, #CoronaVirus #COVID19 is to blame and not going anywhere anytime soon. Somehow one thing leads to another and the boys end up discussing the democratic primaries, the lack of presidential leadership, the stock market tanking, and what may come next here in DC. This is a unique show from two people doing their best to work through all the information and share their personal thoughts without fanning the flames of fear. We will be ok America. Stay Strong. (and wash your hands!)
For many of us the passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter still seems surreal. She was going to be better than her dad in his own words and sadly the world will never get to see that happen... and as for Kobe... we grew up with Kobe and even though we never met him he felt like family. We saw him enter the league as a teenager, dominate as a man, and retire as an icon. What we didn't know was just how profound of an impact he was making outside of the public eye... and as the stories start to be shared now that he has passed one thing is absolutely certain... the legend of Kobe Bryant will never die.
Stevie, Razzle, and Joe pay respects to the Mamba then switch gears to break down yet another Super Bowl matchup that happens to feature an ex-Redskins coach and several ex-Redskins players too. Stevie likes the Chiefs because of their offensive firepower, Razzle is on the 49ers because of their defensive abilities, and Joe is playing both sides and only cares about the point spreads and prop bets! (This show was recorded live, audio issues, and random interruptions were frequent... we'll clean that up next time around!)
The Redskins finished a dismal 3-13 but there is a lot to be excited for as all 'skins fans look forward to 2020. The number two overall pick, a new head coach, and the end of the Bruce Allen era too! LP, FP, and Joe take a look back at the terrible season that was and try to find a few things to look forward as the "Carolina" Redskins are now a thing. The good, the bad, the ugly, we cover it all. #HTTR
The #Nationals are headed to the World Series. Those are some of the sweetest words in the english language and they are 100% true! Our DC Nats have beat the #Dodgers and now the #Cardinals and await either the #Yanks or the #Astros for a #WorldSeries showdown! Stevie and Joe have lots to discuss and get into EVERYTHING on this episode of DTC. Congrats Nats! Congrats DC! #4more #stayinthefight
The Nationals did it! Hail the Nationals! Won-Soto came up big AGAIN! Mad-max started off a bit rough but eventually settled down and Strasburg put on his big-boy pants and took care of things when the team needed him the most... and through it all... DC fans came out early and stayed late for the incredible celebratory beer-baths that started in the eighth inning and continued until the final pitch! This.Is.It.DC. This Nationals team is not the same as years past... they are the most resilient, even if not the most talented, we have had here in years and we should all embrace it! Next up is the Dodgers... but fear not, P.Corbin gets his first postseason start (ever) after his best season (ever) and is capable of stealing game one for the Nationals! Listen, get ready, and lets go Nats! N-A-T-S Nats Nats Nats!
Fantasy Football is back and that means drafts are happening and ending and the season is just around the corner. Take a deep breathe and settle in as Razzie and Joe go around a legacy league that has been active and entering its 15th season! There were some reaches, some surprises, and ten fantasy owners that think they executed the perfect draft! Zek will play but will Melvin? Baker will rise, but can Lamar? So many questions.... welcome back to football!
Get your popcorn and settle in as Stevie and Joe breakdown a tough series loss to the Mets for a Nationals team that needed at least two of three to feel better before coming home and ending their nine-game road trip. All three games followed a similar script: Nats take early lead, Nats give up late runs, and in the first two games, Nats blow the save... and boy was it ugly. Stevie is still optimistic as the Nationals played well against their division rival missing several key players but the talk of the town is Juan Soto and his potentially serious injury. If Soto misses considerable time, the season may hang in the balance. Joe forces Stevie to play some EPL trivia while discussing the DC United mess featuring Wayne Rooney and the boys end the show discussing two Netflix Documentaries that premiered recently... Cambridge Analytica anyone?
FP and LP are here to break down the Redskins preseason game 1. The line is missing a LT, can Donald Penn and Geron Christian be stop gap solutions? The boys discuss. Case Keenum didn't look sharp but did have a TD pass to Robert Davis. Haskins shows that the talent is there but it's still raw and he needs time to develop. What are you looking forward to in week 2?
As #Redskins training camp ends and the season begins some here at DTC are excited while others are worried. The boys get sidetracked into some inside the beltway talk but it all comes full circle to the Redskins in the end! No Trent is a big problem however young coachable talent at offensive skill positions is still exciting. Stevie, Pete, Razzle, and Joe talk about the weeks that were in Richmond as the Redskins pack up camp and get ready to face the Browns. The QB battle appears to be wide open while the RB battle has settled down into what will be a lucrative timeshare for all parties involved... if, Stevie reminds us, Trent shows up! Joe is excited to see this young and promising defensive front take the field while Pete has questions about the timing of some of the Redskins cuts this offseason most notably Mason Foster. Joe has the #Redskins winning 10 games, Pete has them winning 7, Stevie is at 6, and Razzle is at 4. The show ends with a spirited discussion about the ongoing presidential debates because after all this is DC!
The #Nationals made some trades, brought in some new faces, but have dropped three straight series over the past two weeks that have Stevie and Joe asking questions. Most notably the Nationals are off to a rough start dropping two in the dessert one of which saw Strasburg get hit over and over and over again. The Nationals are now in a virtual tie with the #Phillies for the final wildcard spot with #Arizona and NY #Mets not far behind. With 50 games to go the postseason is getting closer and closer and the #Nats have to find a way to win without one of their Aces for at least another week. Stevie and Joe share their thoughts after another mass shooting and ask everyone listening to pray for the communities impacted but also for the politicians and law makers who have to tackle this difficult task of "change"... God Bless America.
Stevie and Joe discuss all things #Nationals as the curly "W" goes in the books! Strasburg goes for 3 hits, 5 RBIs, and one big homer but that is just the proverbial tip with this team and its recent surging in the standings! The #Nats have found the bats, they have found some pitching, and they have found themselves. All they did was get healthy and the rest is history... we hope! Stevie and Joe preview the rest of the Braves series, talk about the Dodgers and Rockies too, and talk about potential needs that can be addressed prior to the deadline (if needed). Tune in, subscribe, share!
Joe is solo on this episode of DTC catching up on the past few weeks across all sports and headlines. The womens world cup ends, Kawhi is an odd guy but improved the Clippers while hurting the Lakers, Westbrook is headed to Houston ... and just like that the NBA is full of dynamic duos! The Nats are surging in the standings, Trump is surging in his approval ratings, and DC is literally melting under the 100+ degree heat! Tune in and get caught up with Joe!
The Wizards have been busy acquiring young talent and draft picks while the Nets made a huge splash landing KD, Kyrie, and DJ... however, Joe believes the 76ers and Jazz are having better off-seasons while LP is on Boston and 20 thinks the Lakers are unbeatable if Kawhi joins them. The trio debate the crazy start to NBA free agency including DLo to the Warriors and IT to the Wiz. The boys also discuss the USWNT win over England and look ahead towards the World Cup finale too! Happy fourth of July to all from the crew at DTC!
Stevie and Joe are discussing the Nationals, the Phillies (& Bryce), and he Braves on this episode of DTC. Where does Max's performance last week rank amongst his other highlights, and can releasing a player HELP a team? Plus the duo touch on US Men's and Women's soccer, the Wizards number one draft pick, and pick winners of this weeks primary debate. Stay tuned for draft coverage and a lot more insight into the Wizards this week plus our Redskins coverage kicks-off in just 10 days from now!
LP, FP, 20, Canada, and Joe discuss what was the NBA Finals and MVP Kawhi's next move. The guys also discuss the confusion surrounding the Wizards, the chaos caused around the league by the injuries in the bay area, and expectations for the upcoming draft in a few days time. Harrison Barnes has opted out of his current deal, Al Horford too, and Brad Beal may be on the way to NOLA for the 4th pick too... crazy, this league is crazy! Joe also shares his thoughts on why the NBA has a big problem on its hands because people seem to care more about the post-season than the actual season. Does Mo Salah have a nice body? We will debate!
LP has the Warriors in 3, Canada has the Raptors in 6, Money has the Warriors in 7, FP is on the Warriors in 4, Stevie doesn't care, and Joe hasn't decided yet! The NBA Finals tip on Thursday night and Canada, Money, and Joe are on the podcast talking about matchups, betting lines, over/under, MVP candidates, and of course making predictions. Canada is convinced the Raptors will be fresh and the Warriors will be rusty after a week off, Money doesn't care and is adamant that with or without KD the Warriors will win, and Joe just wants everyone to bet the under on game 1 which is set way to high! The entire country is on the Raptors + all of North Mexico (aka Canada)... its the Finals and it starts Thursday!
Pete, Canada, and Joe discuss the greatest shot in Canadian basketball history, after listening to it in several languages, then put a bow on the 76ers season, then turn their attention to the Eastern and Western Conference Finals. First, in the east, can anyone stop the Bucks and their balanced rotation, and similarly in the west, are the Blazers deep enough to knock off the Warriors. The trio also discuss the Durant to Knicks rumor and speculate on the which team getting Zion would be the best for the NBA.... also CP3 is over-rated, Harden isn't as good as his stats, and the Nets may be the sleeper team to land some big-name free agents this summer.
Finally, we get the episode we deserve the fifth time out in season eight and Joe and Stevie are ready to discuss. We get the full heel-turn of Dani, the full wake-up call for Jon, and the grand finale of Hound v Mountain! The star of this episode was Tyrion. He was doing what he does best, planning, executing, and calculating what needs to be done next. Yes there was still some sloppy writing, and plot-holes that don't make any sense, but with the armor finally off, we said goodbye to more than a few characters that we have gotten to know very well over the years.
LP and Joe are back to breakdown the Redskins 2019 draft class in detail and shed some light on what caused the stars to align for Bruce Allen to have the best day of his tenure as a member of the 'Skins front office! The boys also discuss what went wrong in NY and why Rosen going to the Dolphins was a sneaky good move by the 'fins and a terrible move by the forever-rebuilding Cardinals. LP has the Redskins at 10-6 after breaking down the schedule while Joe has them at 9-7 but making the playoffs because of scheduling which affords them six straight NFC contests to end the season! Elsewhere... LP can't talk GoT but wanted to chat about the NBA while Joe shared some thoughts on the EPL season.
Joe, FP, and LP all joined the pod to discuss many things and many sports. UVA brings home a championship, you can thank us later. Tiger Woods is back what an amazing sports story and story in general. The C.A.P.S. started out strong going up 2 on the Carolina Hurricanes but injuries have struck once again. The caps were already without Kempny now down Oshie as well. DSP has been recalled can he bring the good luck once again? The NBA playoffs are boring, the NBA needs to do something to bring some excitement back into the league. The Wizards are still GMless but feeling the effects of poor choices from the previous GM. This is likely to hurt the team far into the future. The Redskins are picking 15th in 6 days. Is Josh Rosen still on the table? All things, all sports. Listen, Like, Share!
Defeat the Curse is now Defend the Cup for all things Capitals as the NHL playoffs get underway! FP and Joe preview the Caps/Canes matchup (1-17) including do's and don'ts for the Great 8! Looking a bit further ahead, can anyone really challenge Tampa? Joe then welcomes Dan to the pod (18-34) to discuss his UVA Wahoo's vs Texas Tech in the NCAA national championship final. Dan is bullish betting the over with a predicted final score of 65-63 with UVA winning led by a resurgent De'Andre Hunter who knows he has one more game to prove the Redeem Team deserves this title! Afterwards Joe sits down with George Mason legend Lamar Butler to discuss the Patriots cinderella run (34-45), his professional career, life as a coach, and his business ventures... oh and we get his take on the big game as well. This is one packed podcast episode! Enjoy it DC... a UVA win would be so sweet the same week the Caps cup defense starts! Listen, like, share!
Emergency Pod style! There is way too much going on in DC sports today. Bryce Harper issues a statement to all DC sports fans. Is it too little too late? Ernie Grunfeld is fired after 16, yes sixteen, 1-6 years. Unbelievable that a GM who has not won a title was able to keep a job for that long. Nevertheless he is no longer here. The Caps are about to embark on their playoff push, without star defensemen Michal Kempny. The pressure is certainly off of them, and they are the defending Stanley Cup champions so the pressure should be off. Finally the national media is reporting to watch out for the Redskins as a team still interested in Josh Rosen. Is a first round pick too steep of a price? Join FP, Joe and LP on this pod and let us know your thoughts on all things discussed. #FireErnie worked. #BryceIsBack #OnePursuit #ALLCAPS
Baseball is back Stevie, Joe and Matt the met are here to talk opening day. The Nats lose, Stevie is bummed; The Mets win and Matt is bummed too. Traffic in DC is terrible (what's new?) but spring has officially arrived. Join the boys as they discuss the NL East and the major leagues. Bryce is going to have a terrible season; Joe predicts at least 40 games missed.

Stevie and Joe are reunited for a two man lunchtime podcast discussing the upcoming Nationals season (1-8), the emerging Browns (9-15), the terrible Redskins (16-20), March Madness (21-26), and the presidential field of candidates (27-32) and cap everything off with a discussion about college and aunt Becky (33-36). This is literally a lunchable of sports and politics that will resonate with anyone who lives in DC and leave you laughing on your way home this afternoon. Welcome to spring 2019... and what the heck does Goose have on Dan?
24 hours into free agency and the Redskins have already made a splash move by bringing in Landon Collins with a 6 year 84 million dollar deal. The Redskins also traded for Case Keenum, the guy who Kirk Cousins replaced in Minnesota, who also took the Vikings to the NFC Championship game for a bag a stale potato chips and made Denver pay for half that bag of chips. CJ Mosely gets an insane amount of money for playing inside line backer, Zach Brown and Mason Foster may be traded, Preston Smith and Ty Nsekhe get paid, this plus much more on this pod with LP and FP. The wait is over, the DTC podcast is back! Joe is riding solo today re-visiting the biggest sports topics of the past month from the Super Bowl to LeBron James, Jason Witten to Bryce Harper, and from Gov Ralph Northam to POTUS to Kim Jung Un, and literally everything in between… there is something for everyone! Joe discusses Tom Brady and his ridiculous career and Russel Westbrook and his ridiculous stat lines going back several seasons. He also gets into Kaep and his settlement with the NFL followed by his ridiculous request for $20m to play in the AAF or XFL. Will Kyler Murray be a Redskins? Probably not but Joe is confident that Antonio Brown will land in Jacksonville with St Nick while Lamar Jackson will fail in Baltimore. ESPN prayers answered as Witten returns to Cowboys and Bryce Harper will make approx $4,000 per plate appearance for the next 13 seasons in Philadelphia. DTC is back! Stevie and Joe are discussing the Bryce Harper saga and the continued rumors and speculation probably started by Big Daddy Boris linking Bryce with Phila, San Deigo, Arizona, and maybe just maybe Chicago... one team of note not listed, our Washington Nationals. Rob Ryan was hired by the #FireBruceAllen's probably to make the team more appealing for Hard Knocks and HBO as right now there isn't a lot of personalities that would make a summer of filming at Redskins park very interesting, and the duo end with a discussion about the genius of Fyre Festival and the ever-annoying Ja Rule. Lots of action this lunchable podcast, listen and enjoy!
The NFL Superbowl is going to be played in just a few days. LP and FP are here to preview the big game. Do the Rams have enough in the tank to beat the Patriots? Is TB12 and Belichick just too good to lose to a 2nd year coach and 3rd year QB? Sean McVay + Jared Goff combined age 57, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick combined age 157 or something like that. Experience in the big game matters and that might be too much for the young guys to handle. At 14:35 the talk shifts to the local football team. Bruce Allen thinks the Redskins are close, close to what? We don't know. Jay Gruden has a new coaching staff, Jimmy Tomsula is returning and one Redskin is ecstatic. The guys disagree about what the Skins should do at QB this offseason, listen in and tell us what you think @DefeatTheCurse on Twitter and @DefeatingTheCurse on Instagram.
FP, 20, and Joe are talking about how the Saints and Rams should be forced to replay the end of the NFC championship game (1:30), how the Chiefs should have had an opportunity to touch the ball in OT (4:30), and why the NFL should immediately change the Overtime Rules and make all plays available for challenge (11:25). Also, Joe lays out a solid reason as to why all NFL challenges should be handled from New York and NOT on the field in real-time. Brady gets a chance to book-end his career with another win against the Rams in the Superbowl (21:30) and might he walk off and retire? The boys also discuss the #FireBruceAllen interview which was comical and painful and void of value all at the same time drawing similarities to the #FyreFestival and Billy McFarland +why the Wizards and @RealDealBeal are playing better right now!
LP and FP are covering the Caps downtown, Razzle and Stevie have prior commitments... so... Joe, 20, and Max (first time/long time) are here to guide you through the NFL final four! Over/Unders, spreads, and storylines are discussed including which matchups will make for a Super Bowl... the old guys Brees and Brady facing off one last time or the young guns that will have to prove they are ready this week first?! Any way you slice the conference championships are must-watch TV this weekend! The trio also discuss Trump and his fast-food celebratory lunch, and Snoop Dog calling NHL hockey games! Listen and share!
The fans have spoken and the Redskins Front Office has ignored. This town has been clamoring for Bruce Allen to be fired, yet the Redskins promoted him. #FireBruceAllen has not worked, maybe it's time to think of other ideas. All ideas are welcome! FP and LP are joined on this podcast to discuss all things that have transpired since the end of the season. #FireBruceAllen, #NotFiringGregManuskyButSearchingForAReplacement, #KindaFiringTorianGray. WHAT A MESS! To no ones surprise the organization is a public relations mess, fans are quitting, and the team just doesn't care. Listen in to what FP and LP had to say and tell us what you think @DefeatTheCurse on twitter.

FP, Stevie, 20, and Joe breakdown the final results across the NFL playoff schedule and make some shocking early predictions for next week's conference championship matchups. The Colts looked worse than expected, the Bolts came out flat, the Cowboys regressed defensively, and the Eagles finally ran out of tricks.. but don't take anything away from the Chiefs or Patriots, and don't look surprised that the Rams and Saints are moving on either. The boys break it all down and then discuss the final season of House of Cards, Marie Kondo "Tidying", and the wrap the show with a few thoughts on Surviving R.Kelly! Listen and share!
The NFL Playoffs continue and Joe is on a heater picking all four games correctly last week and now shifting his attention to the big matchups this weekend. "20" rejoins the show to talk about the NFL matchups as well and the duo also discusses the National Championship game, would you play baseball or football if both were an option, why the Redskins haven't fired anyone, and debate if the Wizards are better without John Wall. This show moves fast so try to keep up and as always like and share! Get rich kids... Joe is on the Chiefs, Rams, Chargers, and Saints!
The NFL Playoffs are here are so are FP, Razzle, "20", and Joe to break down each game, all the storylines, pick winners, and call out one player to watch each to get you set for all the action this weekend! FP is big on the Colts, Razzle on the Seahawks, 20 is all in on the Bears, and Joe is ready to mortgage the farm on the Bolts!
The Redskins season ended weeks ago but the DTC crew officially put the bow on it with this recap show. Injuries, projections, simulated roster moves, and of course end of year/new year resolutions for the brass at Redskins park to consider. LP, FP, and Joe talk their way through the misery of another losing season and share little optimism for the future... but hey... happy new year!
The Wizards are missing John Wall and struggling to string wins together while the Capitals are streaking and trying to cement their identity as they are set to make a second straight cup-run! What can the Wiz do with the contracts they have on-hand? Does anyone have any faith in #FireErnie? Don't the Wiz remind you of the Redskins? a little bit? yikes! The Capitals on the other hand are quietly repeating their success from last year, playing well against the better teams and beating the teams they should. As we start 2019 LP, FP, and Joe have thoughts about what both franchises can do to energize their current fan bases and try to expand them too!
Goodbye 2018 and Hello 2019. #FireBruceAllen should continue to trend on twitter as the #Redskins face their fans and the offseason with lots of questions (seemingly without answers) while #FireErnie should begin trending as the Wizards are likely to finish no better than 7th in the East. Even with all the negative headlines in DC Sports the one headline that matters is that the Capitals are champions and thus, we are all champions! Olympics + WorldCup always make things awesome.... but 2019 will be great as well! Congrats Stevie, Almost Congrats LP! Happy New Year to all!
Joe and Joe break down and preview the Redskins at Titans along with every other game on the NFL schedule this week! Are you in the fantasy superbowl in your league... you NEED to listen to this episode of the DTC podcast.. if you are a gambler, you do too! Both Joe's believe the Redskins can get a win if the game is low scoring and ugly which it like will be. AP needs less than 70 yards for a thousand on the season and yes, Joe is firmly in support of extending Jay Gruden one more year based on his performance this year although Razzle doesn't agree. Could Colt really be ready for a win-and-in game against the Eagles next week? Crazy but true! Tune in, comment, share, and Hail to the Redskins! #Redskins #Titans #NFL #Playoffs
The #Redskins, powered by Josh Johnson, played stout defense and just well enough on offense to defeat the #Jaguars and improve to 7-7 keeping themselves firmly in the playoff hunt. The #Cowboys and #Giants both managed 0 (ZERO) points while losing and will face each other one more time to end the season in a few weeks... but for now, the Redskins are alive and will face the #Titans on Saturday in a must-win. Coach Jay Gruden deserves an award for how well he has coached 2nd and 3rd string players all season long and with his fourth quarterback under center he is fighting for every inch and imploring his players to do the same. Mason Foster had a great game, Allen and Kerrigan too, and Haha Clinton-Dix played his best game as a Redskin too. The offense didn't look great but AP still has something in the tank and Crowder clearly does too! What a win! Hail to the #Redskins #HailVictory!
The Washington Wizards have traded away Kelly Oubre and Austin Rivers and welcomed back Trevor Ariza. On the surface this screams "Fire Ernie" but surprisingly LP and Joe are not on the same page with Joe being "pro" the trade for several reasons. The duo break it all down and preview the Redskins Jaguars game as well! Tune in, comment, share, repeat... and DC... it will get better one day, some day, when Ernie and Bruce are gone!
The Redskins are an embarrassment that words cannot fully illustrate. Once upon a time we had a real quarterback... he wore the number 8. Bruce Allen refused to sign him to a long term deal, traded away all of his receivers, his "weapons", then watched him still throw for nearly 4000 yards before refusing to sign him again, and ultimately watched him leave DC just as the prime of his career was on the horizon. Alex Smith (Godspeed on your recovery) is likely never going to play football again, Colt is a backup at best and a year and half away from returning from his injury, Mark Sanchez does not belong in the NFL and Josh Johnson will start at quarterback next week for the 6-7 Redskins who left the few true fans they had left with their heads in their hands asking themselves how much longer must we endure Bruce "Goose" Allen? Playoffs? Forget about it... we need the 'Skins to lose 50-0 every week moving forward to force Dan to fire Bruce. As fans we deserve better than this! The Giants are not a more talented team, but they showed today that in sports, talent never beats hard work. Today, every Redskins fan should be disappointed, and if we really want to see change, we have to send a message... don't sell your tickets, trash them, force this team to play in front of no fans... when we attend they complain... so let's give them what they want... silence. Shame.
Another gruesome quarterback injury in Washington DC. 30 years ago to this day we all witnessed it with Joe Theismann and today we witnessed it with Alex Smith. Alex was finally starting to hit his stride before he was knocked out of the game. Colt McCoy who has plenty of experience in the Jay Gruden system came in and looked alright. In the end it wasn't enough to beat the Houston Texans but it's really larger than just this one game. Do the Redskins have a recipe for success for the rest of the season? Join LP and FP on this episode of DTC to discuss. Send us your thoughts on twitter at @defeatthecurse!
The Washington Redskins lost their third game of the season to the now 4-4 Atlanta Falcons. LP and FP dive into how the loss negates anything positive fans thought about this team, and question what product they'll see moving forward. Tevin Coleman and Julio Jones shredded the defense. The Alabama wall has crumbled, and Josh Norman pissed everyone off yet again. Alex Smith and the offense got their passing yards, but it came at a cost of the entire O-line going down, and Adrian Peterson not being involved.
Stevie and Joe are ready to break down NFL free agency and the moves the Redskins did and did NOT make at the trade deadline! Stevie wanted offensive help, Joe didn't, but both were surprised to hear the Redskins acquired a defensive back improving a unit that needed depth and strengthening a strength which may propel the defensive from 4th overall to best in the league! The duo also talk World Series, briefly discuss the NBA (yuck @Wizards) and touch on the DC United home playoff game set for Wednesday night! Listen, and share!
The NBA is back and the Wizards should be a team to challenge for the Lebron-less Eastern Conference crown along with the Raptors, Celtics, and maybe... the Bucks?! Well, Joe thinks so encourage #DCfamily to not lose hope after a slow start to the season for the Wiz. Justin (@jusblaze_513) from the Above the Rim Podcast joins the show to talk about the big storylines across the NBA through the first full week of the season and share his thoughts on the Rockets, Lakers, Wizards, Warriors, Celtics, Raptors, and one bold prediction that the Lakers will miss the playoffs even if fully healthy! Joe shares some insight into why EVERY team in the NBA is scoring over 100pts per game and asks if it is sustainable? Can anyone stop the Pelicans? Warriors may need help sooner rather than later, plus so much more! If you love the NBA, you will love this episode of the DTC podcast!
Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory! #Redskins nation is enjoying a big win over the Cowboys on Sunday and watching the Giants lose again on Monday Night Football just makes it a bit sweeter too especially because the Eagles lost too! Redskins improve to 4-2 and sit alone atop the NFC East and Stevie and Joe have thoughts and thoughts and more thoughts about Sunday's game. Offensive and defensive MVPs through six games, biggest question mark/concern, and NFL top five / low five on a jam-packed recap show! #HTTR
FP, Stevie, Razzle, and Joe talk about the Redskins big win against the Panthers... it was ugly, but a win is a win! Alex Smith didn't look great but the offense scored some touchdown's and the running game was solid. Josh Norman played maybe his best game as a Redskin and hey, sitting in first in the division is never a bad thing! #HAIL to the #REDSKINS #HTTR #HailVictory
The Redskins were absolutely embarrassed by the New Orleans Saints in a game in which Drew Brees broke the all time passing yards record. The Redskins had no answers for the Saints mediocre defense, no answers for Michael Thomas and the rest of the high powered Saints offense and we barely saw the Saints special teams. Alex Smith and Jay Gruden did not seem to be on the same page, Adrian Peterson was non-existent and the team put out one of the worst performances in recent history. Join FP, Joe and LP on this episode where they try to find some positives from the game, which there were none. FP thinks Gruden is to blame, LP disagrees and Joe still would rather have the Browns roster over the Skins roster. This and much, much more on the podcast including a little Conor McGregor and Khabib.
The Redskins head to New Orleans to face the Saints on Monday night in a primetime spot but the biggest news tonight is this is the first truly solo show for Joe! It finally happened! Well not really, it's just a solo entrance to a joint podcast hosted by the Who Dat Dish podcast previewing the big game. Can the Redskins keep Drew Brees from attaining the all-time passing yards record (201), will Mark Ingram change the game and force the Redskins to adapt defensively, or will Chris Thompson pickup where he left off last year in the same building to finish off the Saints? These are two evenly matched teams, one with offensive firepower, and the other with a stud defense, going head to head in an early season matchup that may have serious playoff implications just a few months from now as the NFC is taking shape. This is an extended episode, so get comfortable and enjoy! The joint podcast begins at the 11min mark for those that want to skip Joe's entrance and get into the game details! Hail to the #Redskins #HailVictory #HTTR
No one expected this, the Redskins dominated the Packers from start to finish. That is now twice the Redskins have dominated an opponent when even we didn't expect it. FP, LP, Stevie, Joe, and Razzle are on the pod with game analysis and a full recap. The Redskins are sitting in a good spot at 2-1 heading into the early bye week which is usually a terrible thing. Jon Allen, Da'ron Payne and the rest of the defensive line deserve gameballs for a great effort, and Jay Gruden out coached Mike McCarthy offensively... no way anyone saw that coming! Hail to the Redskins, Hail Victory! #HTTR
The Packers are coming to DC and bringing their Super Bowl ambitions with them. FP and Joe breakdown this week's matchup with special guest Fred Thurston from @TheSweepPodcast getting into the weeds about Rodger's health, legacy, and ability, even when crippled. Joe has some positive vibes for new wide receiver Michael Floyd while FP has concerns about the Redskins ability to get real pressure from the defensive line to choke the Packers terrible run game. Can the Redskins replicate their recent success against the Packers or will Fedex be overrun with cheese-heads. Also, @NFL, nobody wants or likes a tie!
The Redskins were dominated from start to finish by the Colts. FP and LP were live from FedEx field with instant post game analysis. The overall analysis...not good. Were the Cardinals that bad or did the Redskins lay an egg? Maybe a little bit of both but it doesn't matter as the guys discuss where the Redskins go from here. The guys also discuss the "new fan experience" and the #ATTR beer. Let's just say neither was impressed by either of them. Let us know what you think about the fan experience or the beer. Twitter: @DefeatTheCurse
The Colts are coming to DC and the Redskins are ready for them! Stevie, FP, LP, and Joe breakdown the week two matchup, give their keys to the game, and spotlight a few players on offense and defense that they expect to be the difference makers. The crew also discuss the end of an era as the Redskins sell-out streak of 50 years is expected to end and what the impact of a potential hurricane could be on the game. In part two, starting at 23:45, Matt Danely, Sr Writer and Podcast Host at SBNation's Stampede Blue joins DTC to share insights into this Colts team that most casual and even hardcore NFL fans don't know much about. There is a lot of info packed into this extended show that ends with game predictions... spoiler alert, everybody has the Redskins winning, but by very different margins, and for very different reasons! Tune in and share!
Hail to the Redskins! After a big 24-6 win in Arizona, FP, Stevie, Razzle, and Joe are locked and loaded to talk about everything that went right, and everything that went wrong. Jay finally got an opening week victory, the skins finally have a workhorse running back, and Alex Smith looked cool in the pocket all day long thanks to a solid performance by the offensive line. The defense looked good too with the rookies doing some solid work upfront while the veteran defensive backs created problems for Bradford all day long. All in, a big win for the redskins! Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory!
Joe and Stevie are live and ready to go talking about the end of the Gio era with the Nationals, the reasons why the season went so poorly, and what to expect in the coming months as Rizzo prepares for 2019. The duo also discuss Nike and the 20th anniversary of the "Just Do It" campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick and his afro, before shifting gears to discuss the NFL season at-large as it begins anew with a terrible Ealges Falcons game and a bunch of duds on the schedule for Sunday as well. For the record, Joe and Stevie both agree, Nike made a mistake with this ad campaign but for two very different reasons... tune in to find out!
The NFL 2018-2019 season is here and LP and FP are breaking down everything you need to know before the week 1 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. There is plenty to be optimistic about the Redskins but there is still plenty to be concerned about, clarity will come Sunday. At 11:46 the DTC crew is joined by Blake Murphy Staff Writer from the Revenge of the Birds, blog site and co-host of the Bird Gang Blitz podcast. Blake shares plenty of insight into the Cardinals offseason to include starting quarterback Sam Bradford. Blake touches on what Redskins fan should expect from an Adrian Peterson after seeing him in Arizona last year. Finally the crew picks winners for Sunday's game. Who they pick may just surprise you. Tune in for all you need to know before Sunday's NFL week 1 game. Photo Credit: PhoenixNewTimes.com
Stevie and Joe talk about the Nationals big win off the big bat of recently called up Andrew Stevenson, if the season is actually over, and if the manager is safe while looking forward to next season... although Steve is in denial and still believes the Nats have something left. The boys also discuss if Mad Max can maintain his form for one or two more seasons, what may happen with Harper, and expectations for Strassie as he takes the mound again tonight. The show concludes with a pointed discussion on both the Ohio State and Maryland football situations with Urban and DJ in the spotlight and what may/should happen moving forward and why both stories will impact football long term!
Don't look now but the Redskins have added pro-bowler Adrian Peterson to the RB depth chart after being "blown-away" by his conditioning. LP, FP, Stevie, Joe, and special guest Razzle talk about all things Redskins from AP to WR's to season expectations. The boys discuss the pending trades the Nationals have out for Murph and Harp and if manager Davie Martinez will return next season. LP and Joe discuss the sreaking DC United powered by Hamid and Rooney, and FP has some thoughts about millenials and pet-ernity he has to share! All in this is one fun extended episode! Listen and share!
The Washington #Redskins have ended training camp and are set to face the Jets on Thursday night August 16th 2018. Many position battles will likely playout in real-time on the national stage and we will be watching! Which RB's will emerge as true options for this offense? Which WR's will earn a spot and who will replace outbound Orlando Scandrick amongst the DB's? Many questions today, hopefully many answers tomorrow! LP and Joe also discuss Wayne and the DC #United streak and set the table for next week's "College Football Preview Show"... tune in and share! #HTTR #HailVictory
The Redskins fall to the Patriots but more importantly Derrius Guice falls to an ACL injury and is out for the season. LP, FP, and Joe discuss what happened, and what will happen next as the Redskins search for answers at the running back position. Do the 'skinnies have the talent on the roster to move forward or do they need to look to the street and snag an available free agent? One thing is for sure... Redskins fans everywhere have been reminded of "the curse"...
The Redskins are days away from the first game of the 2018 season and LP, FP, and Joe are ready to talk about what they have seen and not-seen in the first week of training camp. The boys discuss injuries, players exceeding expectations, recap the Hall of Fame game, and look at the some of the depth at skill positions throughout the NFC East. Are you ready for some football!? We sure are! Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory! Over or under 1.5 carriers for DG in preseason game 1? Think Alex Smith will attempt more than 4.5 passes? Let us know your thoughts!
Redskins training camp is finally here and we have Andrew Alix from Hail to the Podcast on the show to talk about this Redskins roster and expectations for the upcoming season! FP, LP, Stevie, Joe and Andrew dive into the skill positions of concern including defensive back, tight end, and wide receiver. What is a precautionary MRI exactly? What is going with JDoc and who will end the season at left guard. They also discuss if Coach Gruden could end up on the hot seat after another sub-par season and get into some insider talk about who may make this roster and surprise us all! Hail to the Redskins! Let's go Skins!
FP, Stevie, and Joe jump into the struggles of the Nationals and debate if they can win 70% of their remaining games. Joe is convinced Harper will be traded while Stevie believes he will be back next year. FP talks about the Capitals bringing back a key piece and if they could realistically repeat next season, and the boys discuss Jimmy G dating an adult film star, the NFL mishandling punishment of players, POTUS tweets, and Tom Brady's fantastic dad-bod which should encourage us all!
Manny Benton joins LP, FP, and Joe to talk about the start of training camp and expectations for the Redskins! Manny has years of insider access and knows the halls of Redskins Park better than most and he shares his thoughts on the Redskins skill positions, rookies, and veterans to keep an eye on as well. The defense is improved, but by how much? The tight-end position is the exact same for a third year straight... is that ok? The running back position is wide open... or is #29 locked in to start? Who is going to play the slot and what can we expect from Doctson? +FP and LP debate if the Redskins will win 10 games or 11, and Joe shares his thoughts on a few other teams that have caught his eye including the Rams and Browns. If you are ready for football, love the Redskins, and are anxious to see them take the field, this episode is for you and will set the table very nicely! Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory!
Don't look now, but the NBA offseason is absolute insantiy. Kawhi wants to go from Spurs to Lakers ends up north of the border with the Raptors and now Carmelo is headed to the Dirty-South ATL for a weekend before getting paid $27.3m and likely ending up in either LA or Miami...but one of the boys thinks he may end up in Golden State! We all saw it coming but did we really? Canada, LP, and Joe discuss the offseason and talk about the league at large plus some Wizards chatter too! Tune in and share!
The World Cup Finale is just days away and the roundtable is back to talk about the entire event spanning the last month and share opinions on who is likely to win and why. France is loaded with talent, but Croatia seems to rise to every occasion! John, Dan, Sam, Mat, and Joe also discuss the rising and falling stars in the world of soccer, expectations for the third place contest on Saturday and if Wayne Rooney will have a positive impact on our local team here in DC with the opening of their new venue just days away. The boys also debate why their favorite league is the best (La Liga vs EPL is always and intense screaming match) and share some thoughts on what we can all do to fill our time when the soccer ends.
Stevie and Joe are back from vacation and getting caught up on all things sports and all things DC! This episode of the podcast includes a recap of the past two weeks specific to the Nationals and the pitching woes (0-12min), plus All Star Weekend preperations (16-20). The boys talk briefly about LA-Bron, PG, and the NBA free agency period (21-28) before shifting into World Cup, Wayne Rooney, and a brisk soccer convo (31-36). The highlight of this weeks non-sports story for Joe is the Thai Cave Rescue (38-42) which ended earlier today while Steve wanted to focus on POTUS and his Supreme Court nomination (42-46). The final thoughts from both lads includes a discussion on the NFL and the terrible job the Commish is doing at executing punishments (46-50)... all that plus more on this extended weeks-in-review episode of the DTC podcast!
The WorldCup knockout rounds begin, and LP and Joe talk about the highlights and the lowlights of the firsst two weeks plus make a few predictions too. In local soccer news Wayne Rooney signs with United, DC United that is, and not much is really expected of him accept to score and fill the seats at the new stadium downtown... right? And to cap the show, is there is a really chance that Lebron would come play for the Wizards or is that just nonsense to fill the airwaves becuse the Nationals are playing some terrible baseball? ... Quick show, get caught up, then share!
LP, FP, and Joe are back talking sports as the #ALLCAPS hangover finally comes to an end... by the way the Caps bent the cup!? But a lot has happened in the past two weeks with Trotz leaving (5:30), Johnny C staying (10:45), and DSP getting a one year extension too (12:30). But there is more happening around the DC on the Wizards side with a strange draft ending (18:25), a trade bringing in Austin Rivers (24:30), and NBA free agency is just around the corner (31:00). Welcome back to the show!
World Cup 2018 has started! LP and Joe are joined by Dan, Sam, Sany and Mat the Met to break down every group and discuss who may be there when the dust settles in a few weeks. Does Spain need a manager? Can Messi or CR7 carry their teams to the promised land? Does the youth movement in England have enough to challenge the super-powers? Which African teams are most likely to get out of their groups? ... and why is the FoxSports broadcast so poor!? This is one crazy extended show you don't want to miss! Thanks for hosting Russia... but we still don't trust you!
Well, that was not interesting at all. The Warriors defeated the Cavs in straight sets to win the NBA Finals and bring the NBA season to a close. In DC, we have been consumed by all things NHL and Capitals to the point that many of us didn't actually watch Game 4 of the NBA Finals until several days after it actually happened... but did anyone really see this ending differently? Justin "JusBlaze" joins Joe to put a bow on the NBA season and talk a little but about what could have been and what may be by the time the summer ends and the new season begins. Are the Warriors a dynasty? Is there such a thing in the modern NBA? Could Durant leave the Bay Area for LA? Might Paul George, LeBron, or a few Spurs join him there? Listen and let us know your thoughts!
The Washington Capitals are Stanley Cup Champions! We did it DC, the curse has been defeated! After 26 long years our city has a title to celebrate and what a celebration it is going to be! Listen to FP, LP, Stevie, and Joe recap this historic night and what it means for DC! In the words of Charlie Slowes "remember where you are, so you can remember where you were!" The #Caps have done it... are the #Nationals next?!
The #Capitals are just one win away from history. #Vegas outplayed DC in the first frame but had nothing to show for it, in fact they were down 3-0 after 20 minutes with nothing breaking their way. LP, FP, Stevie, and Joe are on the pod to discuss the big win, heroes and zeros and talk specifics as to why Coach B deserves praise and Holtby should kiss the post and say thanks again! DSP scored again, Tommy scored, and the entire team played relaxed and did what few thought they would... winning two on home ice and shifting ALL the pressure to the #Knights with game 5 looming on Thursday night. This is it DC, we are one game away from a title! One game away from Defeating The Curse!
Time for a little week in review... Stevie and Joe discuss the #Nationals and #MadMax surging and find themselves in first place in the NL East (or close to it)... JR Smith is an idiot that is too stupid to point-shave and we feel a little bad for #Lebron... #Capitals are bringing the noise to DC for Game3 on Saturday night and rumor has it 20 bald eagles will carry the flag to center ice before the puck drops... plus, #RumpMeetsTrump and the disaster that is Disney/ESPN and their hiring of Keith Olbermaan and firing of Roseanne Barr... plus a whole lot more.
Well, that was awkward... Lebron has 51 points, JR Smith can't read, victory to the Warriors, and they may win this series in three games! There are no words to describe the actions and lack of awareness displayed by JR Smith.. only meme's (ThxTwitter). Kevin Love showed he still has fight in him, but ultimately the Cavs came up short in overtime. The Warriors had stunning performances from their studs and look in command of the series. LP, Canada, and Joe breakdown game one and discuss adjustments both teams should look to make before game two and figure out how and what to do with JR Smith because his situation is terrible. + Mo Salah cleared for the World Cup, Twitter burn accounts, and a random Mystics schedule update.
The (most boring) NBA Finals have arrived... (but we are spicing things up with some NBA on NBC theme music!)... #Warriors vs #LeBron for the 4th straight year... how does anyone get excited about that? Well, maybe we aren't excited, but we still love basketball, and still will watch, so let's set the table for the series which begins on Thursday night... afterall LeBron was right, "not 1, not 2, not 3..." he has been to 8 straight finals, which is incredible to consider as many of us were still in school or hadn't met our spouses... eight years ago #ESPN was still relevant, and #Drake hadn't released an album yet... much less a "dis-track". Justin Blaze (@jusblaze_513) from the Above the Rim Podcast joins Joe to preview the matchup and make some predictions for the series and also for the #Wizards and the offseason staring Ernie G in the face. If you love the #NBA give this episode a listen, and share it too!
The #Capitals had two different chances to win game one by holding on to a one goal lead... twice... but couldn't do it and the #GoldenKnights took the win. The studs on both sides played "ok" but nobody expected a 10-goal shootout. #Vegas is fast but #DC may be more encouraged than discouraged in the end. Joe is joined by Ashley from @VGKladies to discuss game one in detail and share her perspective from inside of Tmobile Arena in downtown #LasVegas. Hockey fans everywhere should be excited about this Final... just as NBA fans should be disappointed that #Cavs vs #Warriors is our NBA Final for the fourth straight time.
Happy Memorial Day and remember to remember those that have paid the ultimate price for our great nation this holiday weekend. The #Capitals are in #Vegas to face the #GoldenKnights and Joe is joined by Aaron Crouch, host of the Vegas Squares Podcast (@vegassquares) to breakdown the SCF matchup and discuss what may be a storybook ending for one of these two teams that both kinda feel destined to win the Cup of Lord Stanley Preston. This is it DC, we are just one "sleep" away from game one! Listen and learn everything you need to know before history is written on Monday night!
Welcome to the DTC week in review. Mat, Stevie, and Joe discuss Juan Soto and his debut with the Nationals as a lone brightspot for the team this week with a "must-have" weekend series against the Marlins coming up. At the 12 minute mark the #Nationals talk shifts to #Capitals talk with a recap of the viewing party at Cap1Arena for game 7, and a discussion of why this IS the team that can bring home a title. Tom Wilson, Great8, Holtby discussed in detail, plus, has any one GM ever been responsible for two teams facing each other in the championship round of any sport? George McPhee built both the Capitals and #Vegas #GoldenKnights and deserves credit. The final topic starting at minute 29 (after a discussion of old guys and boobs) is about the #NFL and why their new national anthem policy will only make things worse for the business. C-A-P-S CAPS CAPS CAPS! The #AllCaps behind Holtby have done it! Game 6 is in the books and the Caps are headed to Tampa for Game 7 on Wednesday night. LP, FP, and Joe talk details and expectations as the Capitals find themselves just one game away from playing #Vegas for the Stanley Cup! This is it #DC... it's ok to believe!
The NBA Conference finals are under way and before we get into predictions we quickly recap the Raptors vs. LeBron series, then jump into can the Rockets win, and discuss what it would take for an Eastern Conference team to win the NBA Finals...hint, "a miracle' is a good guess. LP, Canada, and Joe discuss all things NBA and then LP and Joe jump into the C-A-P-S CAPS CAPS CAPS! The Capitals are just two games away from playing for Lord Stanley's Cup and DC is so excited it's hard to describe! Nationals are streaking, Caps are streaking, Redskins rookies are looking good in minicamp so far... this is an exciting time in DC Sports!...did you see ManCity put up 100pts to win the EPL too?! So much to discuss, tune in and share!
Off the bat of Mark Reynolds... the Nationals win all four in Arizona, improve to 13 wins in their last 15 games, and are outscoring opponents nearly two to one (69-35). The Nationals are rising, the pitching is outstanding, and the panic that was has no subsided to a gentle "May-Calmness" that everyone DC can appreciate! The Capitals seem to be on a heater of their own but what the Nationals are doing day in and day out is excellent and most on the panel today agree they could go 8-2 or 9-1 over their next ten to further pad their stats! Join Stevie, Reali, Mat the Met, Doc, and Joe on a full-house roundtable discussing all things Nationals! .. and go C-A-P-S CAPS CAPS CAPS!
The Capitals have done it! They went behind enemy lines and brought home one of the biggest victories in DC sports history beating the Pens in overtime sending them to the Eastern Conference Finals! What a game, what a series, what a win, and DC is going nuts! LP, FP, and Joe discuss it all. #ALLCAPS C-A-P-S CAPS CAPS CAPS!
The Nationals have made a change and the DTC Nats Crew... all of us... are discussing it prior to first pitch! Stevie, Reali, Doc, Mat, and Joe break it all down and debate where it is time to panic or not as a Nationals fan and if #BeatPittsburgh can happen on both the baseball field in DC and the ice a few hours north. The pitching has been solid, the hitting not so much, injuries are a problem but not an excuse, and overall a city that is recovering from a Wizards loss needs a Caps win, and needs to see the Nationals play better overall to keep us all sane. So much in this 20min podcast... listen and share! Go Nats! ...and #BeatPittsburgh!!
In what can only be labeled as a disappointment, the Wizards dropped game five in Toronto even though they had the lead half-way through the final frame. Wall had moments of brilliance and moments of frustration, Beal played better than he did in games one and two, but ultimately the Wizards couldn't get points down the stretch settling for two many three pointers that just wouldn't fall. The Wiz return to DC for a win-or-go-home game six on Friday night and Stevie, Joe, and Mina Canada break it ALL down. Winners, losers, adjustments, and predictions. Tune in and share!
The Washington Capitals have now won 3 straight! Starting the series down 0-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets the Caps have flipped the momentum of the series based on a Nicklas Backstrom OT goal. FP, Joe and LP on an emergency Pod to discuss after a game 5 win. Has Coach Trotz played the right cards with in series adjustments? Should Holtby have started game 2? Would have made a difference? The DTC crew discusses in depth. During the second half of the Pod Joe, LP and FP discuss the Wizards game 3 win and what that means for the rest of the series? Whether the series begins to turn or not hinges on a huge game 4 in D.C. #Caps #ALLCAPS #DCFamily
Stevie, Reali, Mat (the Met), and Joe discuss the series that was between the Mets and Nats, the upcoming west coast road trip to face the Dodgers and Giants and the overall impact of the weather on baseball players... which Joe isn't buying but Reali and Mat are selling (hard!). Stevie has taken an interest in James Comey and believes it isn't time to panic, just readjust... many nuggets in this epsiode... listen and share!
The Wizards didn't show up for game two and the fans are feeling the pain throughout DC tonight. The DC Trifecta was in play but with the Wizards losing the triple win was out of the question shortly after 930p. LP, Joe, and Canada discuss the Wiz/Raptors series and break down what went wrong for DC and what went well for Toronto. Can the Wiz get right and force the series beyond four games? ... maybe, but highly unlikely given their game two performance! Plus, what surprised you more... Pacers beating Cavs or D.Wade pretending that age is just a number? The NBA Playoffs are awesome, join the boys and discuss! (Photo Credit: WaPo)
The NBA Playoff picture is in focus now and the LP and Joe are going to break everything down with guest host Mark Hanna. Are the Wizards the best 8th seed ever? Are the Raptors the better opponent that the Wiz wanted to face bypassing the Celtics? Can the Wizards "turn it on" when needed? The boys discuss this and a lot more on this podcast plus take a look around the league too and ponder whether the Jazz are for real, and can Phila stun the world with a playoff series win to cap their incredible 50 game winning season. The NBA playoffs are here! Let's go Wiz! (Photo Credit: NBCSN Washington)
Stevie and Joe talk about all kinds of things on the latest episode of the DTC podcast. First, the Wizards are sliding into the playoffs seemingly ill prepared to face the Raptors or Celtics, while the Capitals are set to begin their championship chase with less pressure than years past. After that the boys get a mile wide and a mile deep on all things Nationals from pitching to hitting to the general sense of fear die-hard fans are starting to feel as the bats keep going cold... for Zimm, ice ice cold. Finally what would a S&J show be without some political chatter and a discussion about TV ratings including the dumpster-fire known as "GetUp" on ESPN. Tune in and share this podcast!
Big Z has landed in LA and the MLS will never be the same. (Who doesn't love some soccer talk?!) Locally however the Wizards look horrible dropping games to the Bulls and Rockets, while the Nationals give up seven with Max on the mound, and the Redskins have more rumors to to deal with about problems between Bruce and Dan... oh yea, and RG3 was just signed by the Ravens... for unknown reasons. In short, business as usual in and around DC and LP and Joe are here to break it all down. Listen and share!
The seasons has arrived... with great expectations! Stevie, Mat (the Met), Joe, and new-comer Fady (Freddy) are all on the horn today sharing their thoughts as the season begins and setting both reasonable and unreasonable expectations for the Nationals. Tune-in, share, and get excited baseball fans... the wild ride to the post-season begins now! (Photo Credit: YouTube)
Does anything the Nationals do between now and October really matter? Joe doesn't think so, and neither does FP. Stevie and Anthony (a.k.a. Reali) think otherwise. The boys discuss all things Nats as the preseason begins to end and the regular season is just around the corner. Can the Nats get Bryce to stay long term? Will the GM get an extension before the All-Star break? Is this the best opening day roster the Nationals have ever had? These topics and so much more on a focused DTC podcast dedicated to the Nationals! (photo credit: Federal Baseball)
FP and Joe breakdown the event that has overtaken March Madness known simply as NFL Free Agency. It is amazing but with so many players joining new teams it takes time to get used to who went where and what jersey they will be wearning next fall. Tune in and get the DTC takes on all things NFL Free Agency today! Do the Redskins have a few more moves in them before the draft starts?
Kirk Cousins is officially a member of the Minnesota Vikings (LP was proven right all along), Case Keenum to the Broncos, and Teddy Bridgewater to the Jets. Join LP and FP to recap day one of NFL Free Agency where we saw several Redskins leave for more $$$ elsewhere. Who are the winners and losers of Free Agency? Redskins bring in Paul Richardson to help the offensive passing attack lead by Alex Smith. We can now officially welcome Alex Smith to Washington DC. It's time where we all root for Alex, the new quarterback here in DC. Oh yeah March Madness is about to start, less than 24 hours to join the DTC Bracket Challenge! Join us here: https://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/group/27122/invitation?key=30b8288fa072375a&soc_trk=lnk
FP and LP discussed NFL Free Agency but Joe had to get them on the record about a few things including why they think Kirk Cousins wouldn't go to Cleveland. In this 30 minute podcast dedicated to Kirk Cousins FP, LP, and Joe jump back into the Cousins lottery and debate why the Browns would make a lot of sense. Wouldn't winning 5 or 6 games in Cleveland be equal to making the playoffs for any other team? Wouldn't spending the 1st and 4th pick on an offensive and defensive lineman plus resigning Isiah Crowell be enticing enough for free agents to consider the Browns as a team with true potential? The more Joe talked the more LP seemed to come around but FP was adamant; Cousins wants to win and win now.... Joe just isn't convinced that this is his last big contract and predicted a 6 year, $200m contract with 3 years and $100 guaranteed as the kind of offer Cleveland may offer!
The Wizards needed a win and they got it against the Heat! LP, FP, and Joe discuss the Wizards struggles over the past week while watching and discussing the Wizards vs Heat game in real time. Sessions is back, Wall is almost back, Morris is playing better, but Beal and Porter look tired and in need of rest heading down the stretch towards the playoffs. Join the boys as they discuss the big win for the Wizards and chat about instant replay in MLS soccer, the Capitals upcoming west coast trip, and what shows they are currently watching on Netflix/Hulu. This is a unique show recorded in real-time, don't miss it!
Kirk Cousins is long gone, the Redskins will not be tagging him. Alex Smith is the Redskins quarterback going forward. Join LP and FP as they gather their thoughts, over 1 month removed from the trade. They also talk NFL combine, NFL free agency, including WR picks for the Redskins. The talk shifts to the combine where we've heard from the Redskins Brass on free agent talks with Zach Brown and other pending Redskins free agents. Shaquem Griffin has throughly impressed everyone with his showing at the combine. LP and FP close out the show with some Wizards (We NEED John Wall back and healthy) and Capitals talk.
The week in review series continues with Stevie, FP, and Joe discussing camels at Nationals spring training, Capitals finding their grove, the Redskins finally saying goodbye to Cousins (maybe?) and the Wizards continuing to play well without John Wall. Plus a few bonus thoughts on the continued state of decay over at ESPN, why the NBA season is predictable, and is Trump really going to fire his daughter?
LP and Joe are on the mics discussing the week that was in DC sports. The duo discuss last weekends NBA All Star Weekend (0-9m), the Wizards continued roller-coaster season (9-18), the NBA at large (19-26), then switch gears to the Redskins (28-40), Kirk Cousins, tracking free agents, and end with a discussion on their favorite winter olympic sports (46-57). It is a long show but a good one. Tune in and share!
Stevie and Joe recap the events of the week starting with a focus on the shooting in Florida. In this never-ending newscycle both hosts had a few things to share. The show then pivots to a discussion about Alex Smith and a revisit of his trade and extension with the Redskins which then leads the boys into a conversation about Amazon potentially moving to DC and leads into a preview of the Nationals spring training which is just weeks away. This type of show is quick-paced and shifts a lot as it follows the thoughts of Steve and Joe but it is their favorite type to record because it is unscripted and raw. By the way, did you notice the Wizards are streaking without John Wall too? Tune in and share!
DeAndre Jordan is likely to be traded in the coming days and LP and Joe have some thoughts about how the Wizards might be involved and how this deal may get done! The duo is joined by Mina B, aka "Canada", to breakdown all things NBA including an insiders perspective on a Raptors team that appears to be vastly improved over last year. LP shares thoughts on the Wiz and their recent 5-game win streak without John Wall and begs Ernie to make the RIGHT move before the deadline to improve the team to challenge for the east! Could Lebron go to the Warriors? Might the Rockets be a landing spot for Joakim Noah? It is going to be a crazy few days! (Superbowl 0-2:30, Redskins 3-7:25, Raptors + Wizards 8-20:15, NBA West + Trade Rumors 23-End)
With much sadness and contempt, we must announce and confirm, the Philadelphia Eagles are champions. The NFC East continued to terrorize Brady & Bunch in the Super Bowl improving to 3-0 (Giants x2, Eagles x1) and the offseason has officially arrived. Now as Redskins fans we can't cheer for a division rival, and cheering for greatness is boring, so most of us were cheering for our money... but we lost most of our prop bets too. Tough night all around for Redskins fans but let's be honest... Pete from Philly deserves a moment or two to enjoy his championship and predicted the keys to the game perfectly last week. Stevie, Joe, and Pete recap the big game with an eye turned now to the offseason and what may or may not happen just a bit north on I-95. We are just 80 days away from the NFL draft...
Stevie, LP, Joe, and Pete from Philly discuss the upcoming Super Bowl between the Eagles and Patriots and shocker, only one of them is taking the Eagles while the three DC boys refuse to cheer for a division rival. Pete outlines the keys of the game for Philly while Stevie talks about why Brady will start much faster in this game and the potential of him retiring on stage at the end of the night. LP and Joe are still salty from the Redskins trading for Alex Smith but try to put that aside to discuss some of the more lucrative prop-bets for Sunday's big game. If you love the Eagles, the Patriots, gambling, or guys talking sports, don't miss this extended DTC podcast!
During the State of the Union address on Tuesday night news broke about a trade between the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs sending Alex Smith to DC for an extension worth $71m. The specifics are still fuzzy but LP, FP, Joe, and Stevie all shifted from Wizards and POTUS to Redskins in shock. Was this Bruce Allen doubling and tripling down on his mistake? Was this Andy Reid taking advantage of the Redskins again by sending an aging quarterback to Washington? There are so many questions to answer but Joe in particular is just about ready to hang up his Redskins fandom once and for all and LP doesn't seem too far behind. Listen now and get raw fan reaction unfiltered and unapologetic.
The DC [Sports] Curse is a live and well, and we may have lost yet another round in the long battle, but we will win the war. In the second half of a back-to-back podcast, Stevie and Joe, discuss the upcoming start of Nationals spring training, the collapse of the Wizards, and look towards the Super Bowl with a few bold predictions ahead of next weeks long-form podcast on the final game of the NFL season. The Capitals could defeat the curse, the Wizards and Redskins unlikely, but the Nationals are our best bet right now... right?
Its been a long time, but LP and FP got together to discuss the Redskins, the Superbowl and the potential draft prospects. The Goal was to not disucss the Kirk Cousins drama....That's basically only discussed the Kirk Cousins drama. The convo then pivots into FP claiming all QBs ranked from 5-25 are the same in quality. Sadly the news was also broken that our beloved Steve has been fired.
The DTC crew is back discussing all things Washington D.C. sports in this episode. There is no DTC podcast with at least talking the Kirk Cousins contract situation. FP, LP, and Joe all discuss the contract situation once again ahead of Kirk's charity event on 1/5/2018. The Wizards and the Capitals are heating up. The guys discuss the amazing job that Bradley Beal is doing, and the under appreciation that Marcin Gortat often gets. In NHL talks, the Vegas Golden Knights seem to have a real home ice advantage, is that a product of being in Vegas?
FP and LP in studio joined by a special guest PB to talk about the new craze in investments. Cryptocurrency. Bitcoin, litecoin, Ripple are all topics of converstation used in this podcast. On this one-off podcast that has nothing to do with DC sports, the guys talk about what is cryptocurrency, what the differences are and all you need to know to get started.
Disclaimer: All adivce and talk in this podcast is personal opinion and not for investment purposes. Invest at your risk.
The Redskins are riding a 2-game win streak after suffering a bad blow by the Chargers. After several days of internalizing what this means to the Redskins future, LP and FP are in studio to discuss all things Washington Redskins. Among many topics discussed LP and FP had to discuss the Kirk Cousins contract situation, the job the coaching staff has done, the injuries, and some players who are surprising even us, the biggest of homers. LP and FP finally discuss the meaningless game against the New York Giants with a final week 17 prediction. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the DTC family.
With the playoffs seemingly out of reach the DTC boys reset expectations for the Redskins coming off a horrible loss at Dallas (2:20 - 11:30) and now headed to LA to face the streaking Chargers (12:15 - 20:30). Joe feels strongly that the team has a lot to play for as does FP, while LP thinks they should be in tank mode (21:00 - 26:50). Nick Hamilton, a reporter covering both the Chargers and Rams for NBC Los Angeles, joins the show starting after the break (27min mark) and breaks down the key matchups and shares his prediction for the game on Sunday. Can the Redskins travel to LA for the second time this season and pull out another win? Share your thoughts with us! #HTTR #HailVictory (photo: Chargers.com )
LP and Joe discuss all things Wizards and NBA plus a little bit of the Ball family drama and some bitcoin as well in this weeks episode of Week in Wizards. The team came out flat in Utah and rebounded one night later in Portland... so what can we learn about this team from one poor showing and one "less poor" showing? Well first, Brad Beal is a stud, but secondly, this team is going to struggle to replicate their success from last season. LP things 45 to 50 wins is still a reasonable target, Joe disagrees very strongly. If you love the Wizards and the NBA, listen to this episode! (photo credit: WaPo)
The Redskins went on national TV last night and embarrassed all of their fans and the entire city of Washington DC. It was such a bad performance that Stevie demanded to be heard and joined Joe on Facebook LIVE to vent and air it all out. This is not your regular sports podcast however as when these two get going the destination is always in question. If you want some insight into POTUS tweets or the tax bill, listen to the end. If you only want to hear about the Redskins, there is plenty of that as well in the first 20 minutes as the boys revisit the agony of defeat. Is the Redskins season over? The boys have strong opinions on this but we want to hear yours too! (photo credit:
LP, FP, and Joe are joined by Tyler from the Enough the the B.S. Podcast to preview the Redskins at Cowboys matchup on Thursday Night Football. The term must-win gets tossed around a lot but for both teams the season is on the line and the Redskins need another division win to keep things interesting and on track towards a post-season birth. With injuries mounting, suspensions in play, and a (fake) short week of rest this division rivalry game is likely to be ugly, but can the DTC boys convince Tyler to pick against his Cowboys? Tune in, like, and share!...oh yea, the the boys discuss the color rush uniform issue as well! #HTTR #Hail Victory (photo credit: WaPo)
LP and Joe were LIVE on Facebook talking Wizards after a crushing loss to the Sixers. The Wizards haven't looked like themselves in several games now and surely much of that is because the leader, the best point guard in the east, the undisputed hero of DC; John Wall remains sidelined. But that isn't the only reason the team is struggling. The defense has been poor and with the exception of a few games the bench is slowly coming around but has still been a liability on most nights. The Wizards have the Pistons at home before a tough west coast trip... LP and Joe share their thoughts and predictions and musings on the team and all things NBA. Tune in, like, and share! (photo credit: Getty)
The Redskins are headed to New Orleans with the pressure of a near must-win on their shoulders... but LP, FP, and Joe are still picking them to win this week! The injuries to the team continue to increase but there is still hope and as FP demonstrates what didn't work last week, may work this week... so there is always a chance. Tyler and Dayton from the Who Dat Dish Podcast join the DTC boys (18:14-42:05) for twenty solid minutes to preview the game and even though both picked the Saints to win both predict a close one-score game which means it's a toss-up. Listen, like, and share... Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory!
The Washington Redskins failed to capitalize after an impressive victory against the Seahawks last week. The team can’t seem to string together a game where the offense, defense, and special teams put together a good, full game. FP, Joe and LP talk who is to blame, there has been some talk about blaming Kirk, which the DTC crew all disagree, there has been talks about blaming the coaches which the crew is split on. Pryor jawed with a fan pregame, where LP thought that would lift his on-field play but unfortunately went 0/0. Maurice Harris had possibly the catch of the year, at least for the Redskins. The defense failed to stop the Vikings from getting in the end zone multiple times. While the offense went 2/4 in the red zone and 2/4 on fourth down conversions. The boys discuss the loss to the Vikings. At 32:29 the crew shifts to discuss the Wizards latest win streak and the capitals quietly stringing together a few good games. (Photo Credit: Televisa.com)
There is a first time for everything... and this is certainly a first. Joe is flying solo on this episode of DTC as last minute changes kept FP and LP from joining as scheduled... but never fear Eric Yeboah is here! That's right! Atlanta Hawks and NBA insider Eric Yeboah sits it for the entire show with Joe and the duo discuss everything NBA from the Wiz slow start, to the slumping Cavs, to the the extremely disappointing Thunder. Joe get's Eric on the record about the idea that the lack of back-to-back games benefit the below average teams then the two proceed to discuss several of those teams that are performing well to start the season. Eric also shares his thoughts on the MVP of the league so far (Harden or M. Gasol) and in an unforeseen twist, the guys start discussing Crunk and Go-Go music. There is something for everyone in this episode of DTC, listen, like and share!
The Vikings and Redskins will battle again this week for the fifth time in eight season. This is the second time in as many seasons that the Vikings will come to DC and just as in past years these teams mirror each other in more than just record and conference positioning. Neither team can run the ball very well and both teams have playoff-caliber defenses. The Vikings have talent at wide receiver with average quarterback play, while the Redskins have talent at quarterback with average (below-average) wide receivers. Joe and Steve recap the week that was in Seattle and preview the upcoming game with BJ Reidell (16:10) who covers the Vikings for multiple outlets including the About the Labor Podcast, VikingsTerritory.com, and Bleacher Report as well. Steve and Joe both have the Redskins winning... but what about BJ? Tune in and find out! (photo credit: Redskins.com)
FP, LP, and Joe try to find something (anything) to feel positive about as the Redskins travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks on Sunday in yet another late afternoon game. The trade deadline in the NFL came and passed and the Redskins failed to secure help at running back, wide receivers, or offensive line so can we really expect to travel cross country and win? Joe tries to explain how these two teams are shockingly similar in strengths and weaknesses, while LP justifies that the defense is good enough to win and... well... FP just disagrees with everything and is becoming very bitter. Sam from HawksCast and Seahawks Fantable joins the boys (23:01) for some crosstalk and shares his thoughts on this odd rivalry and what to expect on Sunday from Seattle. Listen, like, share and repeat! Hail to the Redskins!
The Wizards had a week to forget losing to the Lakers (blowing a lead), losing to the Warriors (blowing a lead), beating the Kings, and then losing to the horrible Suns at home after having a 20 point lead! LP and Joe talk about all things Wizards and the NBA Eastern Conference over the first half of the podcast and then are joined by Shawn Philpot from the Swinging Swords Podcast based in Cleveland (13:01). Shawn helps break down the craziness in the East and gives LP and Joe a few things to think about regarding this Cavaliers team in context that only a Cleveland fan could. If you love the Wizards, the Cavaliers, or the NBA, this is the game preview you want to listen to ahead of Friday night's showdown in DC!
LP and Joe discuss the Wizards hot start, the state of the NBA Eastern Conference, and recap the Wiz losing to the Lakers ahead of their "finals preview" against the Warriors on Friday... at least Joe is convinced it is a Finals preview. Photo Credit: NBA.com
LP and Joe recap the horrible Monday night loss and try to figure out what happened to all the Redskins wide receivers. LP is in semi-panic mode while Joe is in full-panic mode. The Redskins need to get healthy quick as they prepare to face the Cowboys next week in a near-must-win NFC East battle.
The NBA season is back and the Washington Wizards are going to win the Eastern Conference. Joe explains why, while LP and FP take a softer position expecting the Wizards to finish second or third and Stevie asks the "other" question... does it really matter? Stevie is still a tad salty from the Nationals loss, and LP from the USMNT / World Cup disaster, but Joe is pumped and by the end of the episode FP is too! The bottomline is this the best Wizards team we have seen in two decades and with an unlucky injury striking the Celtics every NBA fan should be looking at the Wizards as the most dangerous team in the east... PERIOD! Welcome to NBA 2017-2018! The DTC boys are ready! Are you?
The Redskins head to Philadelphia on Monday night for a showdown to clarify the top ranks of the NFC East. The 'skins lost to the Eagles in the season opener but Joe and LP are convinced the game should have ended differently. Stevie and FP are more focused on the task at hand and think the Redskins have a reasonable chance to go into Philadelphia and win. One thing is for sure, all four talking heads are finished with TP and this receiver group. They simply must play better. The Eagles can be beat and the Redskins are certainly good enough to do it. Will the Redskins primetime luck continue? LP, FP, and Joe think so (Joe's taking the over too), while Stevie isn't convinced. Who you got Monday Night?
It’s an unimpressive victory Sunday in the nation’s capital, it you didn’t see the game you wouldn’t think the Redskins won based on LP and FP’s outtakes. FP was fired up about Jay Grudens play calling while LP was perfectly putting all the blame on the players. The WR’s were nowhere to be seen, and Chris Thompson once again led the team in receiving yards. The secondary position took some bumps and bruises but ultimately came through with the clutch INT by Kendall Fuller. At the end of the day our former beloved WR Pierre Garcon was the MVP of the Redskins defense. Thank you Pierre. Listen on this week’s instant over reaction show.
This may be the most gut wrenching of them all. For a team that’s suffered three straight NLDS game five losses before tonight, including one in which they led 6-0, that’s telling. Of course, in true tragic and familiar fashion the Nationals found yet another way to lose in spectacular fashion; painful fashion. Where do we go from here? Mat, Stevie, and Joe discuss on a depressing end of season podcast as the Nationals fall to the Cubs at home. This was it DC, our best shot at defeating the curse, but just like the Wizards losing in an elimination game, Captials too, and Redskins losing a win-and-your-in game last season, the Nationals couldn't pull out a win when the city needed it most. This SUCKS! Listen and share... (Photo Credit: New York Post)
Stevie and Joe discuss what the Redskins need to do to win/dominate the 49ers on Sunday and what the issues will be if they lose. With Shannahan and Garcon returning to face their former team both will be hungry to get the 49ers into the win column for the first time in 2017. The Redskins are the better team, they should win, but this is DC after all and the city is still disoriented after another game five Nationals loss at home... a Redskins win would be the perfect chaser to get us all feeling just a little bit better. Two life-long 49ers fans join the show as well, but ultimately the general thought is the Redskins should win. Stevie like this to be a high scoring game, Joe thinks the opposite... time will tell! Hail to the Redskins! (...looking ahead, don't miss FP and LP covering the game live from FedEx Field including a post-game fan call-in show to wrap up things on Sunday night.)
The 2017 MLB Postseason has arrived and the Nationals are locked and loaded for a run towards the World Series! Mat, Anthony, Stevie, and Joe talk about expectations for the Nationals vs Cubs series to start on Friday in DC and get into detail about potential pitching rotations, batting order changes, and identify a few unlikely candidates for the title of hero should the Nationals pull off the series win! The DTC crew will be at every Nationals home game throughout the series and will provide analysis and thoughts after every game as well! The Nationals have work to do, and the entire city of DC is collectively, cautiously, awaiting the start to what should be a great series! Do that Nationals have what it take to beat the Cubs... the four of sure think so. Let's go N-A-T-S Nats, Nats, Nats!
The Redskins were in position to win, but with a minute on the clock and the defense on the field they couldn't keep the Chiefs from pulling ahead on the final possession. These two teams mirror each other in several ways but with poor clock management and a big shot to win that slipped through our hands the Redskins head into the bye week with a 2-2 record. FP, LP, Stevie, and Joe wrap up the LIVE viewing party from Glory Days and look ahead to the 49ers in two weeks time. This one stings deep... we could have won! But all 'Skins fans should be encouraged... the Redskins proved they can hang with and beat anyone in the league! (PhotoCredit:KC.com)
The first half is over and the boys have a LOT of thoughts on what the Redskins are doing well and what needs to be adjusted for the second half. FP, LP, Joe, John, Razzle, and Ash pass out their first half game balls and prepare for a BIG Redskins second half!
The boys are on the road at Glory Days in Vienna recording the pregame and postgame shows LIVE with fans! LP, FP, and Joe have the Redskins winning big tonight while Stevie is taking the Chiefs in a close game. For the record Joe is also taking the under on points which are set at 49.5 total. The guys break down the key differences between the two teams and touch on the similarities too including speedy running backs, fast middle linebackers, and a secondary that can shut down any reciever core in the league. Coach Mike and Lucky Larry join the podcast (15:05) and share their thoughts on the game as well! We are live from Vienna Glory Days for the whole game... come join us! ...and Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory!
Hail to the Redskins! What a complete performance from the Redskins tonight against a very good Raiders team! LP is singing, FP is smiling, Stevie is dancing in the streets of DC, and Joe is convinced we are Super Bowl-bound! The guys pass out their game balls to coaches and players highlighting the best plays of the night and talk X's and O's about what worked and what didn't as the focus now changes to an equally good KC Chiefs team next Monday night in another primetime tilt! The fellas also discuss their reaction to Dan Snyder locking arms with the players during the national anthem tonight and share a few thoughts on what they saw around the league too. Don't miss this episode on a Redskins Victory Sunday and make sure to join us next Monday night in person for a LIVE show! ... more details to follow this week!
After the first win of the 2017 season, FP and LP are breaking down the win with instant reactions. The mentee couldn't defeat the mentor. Aaron Donald was a force but just not enough for the LA Rams, as they went down to the Washington Redskins 27-20. FP and LP break down their grades for the offense, defense and special teams. The offensive run game was running on all cylinders today, however the pass game struggled at times. The defense had a solid showing with the one-armed Mason Foster sealing the game with a 4th quarter pick. At the end of a day a win is a win and the Washington Redskins won the game. LP and FP are both confident the Redskins will get better with time, but have 2 tough games coming up. We are going to enjoy this win for 24 hours before moving on the Oakland Raiders. Hail to the Redskins!
FP and LP are back on to preview the Redskins and Rams. Today marks exactly 20 years since the FedEx field has opened. The Redskins at 79-81-1 during their 20 year tenure at FedEx field. LP is annoyed at Redskins fans reaction after their season opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. FP things Redskins fans are justified because of all they had to put up with. FP defends Dan Snyder as he has been surprisingly silent and allowing the front office to run the team. There are many coaching ties between the Redskins and the Rams, where FP and LP discuss who has the coaching edge. FP and LP both discuss the offense, defense and special teams and make their game predictions. Tweet us your game predictions @DefeatTheCurse
A special Patriots Day episode of D.T.C. remembering all those impacted by 9/11 here in DC and beyond. The Nationals have won the NL East for the fourth time in six years and all eyes now turn to the postseason! The Nats didn’t just take care of business, they did in historical fashion locking up the NL East in record time (fastest in 15 years) and well, who cares that the NL East is historically bad, we are going to the playoffs! Stevie and Joe talk all things Nats including how amazing Trea Turner is playing (as if he hasn’t missed any time), when/if Bryce will return, and which opponent would you rather not see in the postseason; D’backs, Cubs, Brewers, Dodgers… Cardinals. The Nats aren’t streaking, they are just plain great, and the numbers don’t lie. The pitching rotation is tops in MLB and at any time the bats can explode too. This is it DC, our best shot at Defeating the Curse is the 2017 Washington Nationals! Congrats boys! Let’s keep it rolling! (photo credit: Federal Baseball)
The Eagles came into FEDEX and beat the Redskins today and Stevie and Joe are not happy about it! The Skins offense started slow (again) and well, never really found their groove. The running game struggled, special teams too, however the defense was a positive bright spot... at least Joe thinks so. Philly Pete joins the duo to break down the game as we turn our attention to week 2. (photo credit: CSN)
FP is pissed that Sua has left the team and Stevie doesn't really care but thinks the timing is really bad. LP thinks everyone is basing their assessments of Cravens on potential and the desire to find the next Sean Taylor (RIP 21)... The DTC crew in typical Redskins-fan style lower their expectations after a poor preseason heading into Week 1. Is the team collapsing under the weight of fan expectations or are fans just expecting too much? That and many other questions were asked of Cody Benjamin (starting at 15:30), a writer for CBS Sports, and BleedingGreenNation for an Eagles-Insider perspective. Cody also shares thoughts on the week 1 matchup vs the Redskins, Philly-fan expectations of Carson Wentz, and the offseason roster shuffling at RB and WR. Football is back, the Redskins are back... week 1 here we go! Listen and share! (Photo Credit: Fast Philly Sports)
Fantasy Football Season is here! The DTC boys are joined by David, 20, and Razzle to execute a mock six-round 10-team PPR draft with Joe and Stevie providing color commentary along the way. FP, LP, David, 20, and Razzle each drafted two teams and the results were mixed. FP put together two solid rosters while LP, David, and Razzle, put together one strong and one average roster. 20 however ended up with two really bad rosters... but that's ok, because every league has one of "those guys" right? Joe shared his thoughts on several players not drafted in the top 60 and Steve provided some strategy insights into the best course of attack to build a winning roster... the irony of course being Steve is one of the worst fantasy football players of all-time. This show was a lot of fun and the analysis provided throughout will prove to be helpful to all fantasy players as we head into the long fantasy-draft-holiday-weekend! Listen, comment, and share! Game of Thrones Season Finale Podcast is here! Stevie, FP, and Joe break down all 73mins of awesomeness in the finale of the course of this special edition, extended podcast. So many twists in turns along the way leading to ALL of the main characters of the show finally ending up in the same place at the same time and the scene didn't disappoint! Spoilers Here While Stevie and FP give the episode an A (and the season a B-) Joe was more disappointed in the finale due to what he calls the "sloppy timing" and "unnecessary plot extensions" which he explains in full. Regardless of how you felt about the finale, you should listen to this podcast and share your insight as we all wait a painful year for the show to return! (PhotoCredit: HBO/Radkil)
Steve, LP, and Joe break down the first half action and debate whether or not to watch the second half. What a disaster the first half as been for our beloved Redskins... no running game, bad passing game, and a pick-six to top things off. What is wrong with the Redskins!? LP still believes and is convinced this is just preseason "vanilla" gameplanning but Stevie and Joe are in full panic mode... actually Joe just wants to talk about the Mayweather fight... tune in, get caught up, and fingers crossed; Skins needs a better second half!

Well, Kyrie is a Celtic, and Crowder is a Cavalier, and that means the Wizards will win the Eastern Conference this season! LP and Joe break down all the details of the trade and project forward about how the Wizards actually improved by default by doing nothing! Boston has now traded five of their top seven scorers from last year and their three best perimeter defenders while acquiring more offensive firepower with Hayward and Irving. The Cavaliers however now have some insurance parts in place just in case LeBron decides to leave Cleveland for a second time and a very high first round pick as well! Special guest Monica B from Cleveland joins the duo to explain why everything in Cleveland isn't so bad even if James does leave next year... But wow.... if you don't believe the NBA is nuts, how can we convince you? The Wizards are locked and loaded to challenge and the win the east... the time is now! (photo credit: SI)
Stevie, FP, Joe, and special guest Anthony (the Nats Stat Authority) sit down to talk about the red-hot Nationals bullpen and debate how much credit Mike R deserves for adjusting/trading on the fly (1m-5m). The Nationals are still missing key players but they are getting closer to a full "stud" lineup (6m-11) and Dusty continues to work his magic with the roster day in and day out (11m-14). Harper will take his time returning but they really don't need him against the impressive Astros do they (15m-21) and don't miss the hot take about the Robert Lee, ESPN mess at the end either! (Photo Credit: Washington Post)
The Redskins came out of the gate flat in week one of the NFL preseason. Another week of practice, more defined expectations and the hope for a successful first drive are things we want to see week two against Greenbay. LP and FP dive into what to watch for in week two and discuss their expectations. Both FP and LP list their top 4 things to watch, Greg Manusky, Nico Marley, Ryan Grant all make the list. Will the offense be able to move the ball? Will the defense be able to contain the Green Bay Packers Offense? Will Sua Cravens be back week 1? All things and more discussed in this episode. (Photo Credit: Redskins.com)
FP, LP, Stevie, and Joe are all back to talk Redskins... a whole lot of Redskins. The Redskins came out flat against the Ravens (:1-:930) and the guys wonder why and if Training Camp has something to do with it (:11-:14). The slow starts are problematic and have becoming a defining negative feature of Jay Gruden's tenure (:15-:23) so the fellas offer a few suggestions to get the team out of the gate with a bang to start the season. The schedule isn't ideal for the Skins this year (:24-:31) with so many primetime games that the team MUST start fast in hopes of a split over the last six games at the end of the season. Will Kap or RG3 land on a team this season (:32-:39), plus, in a rare political exchange, the boys talk very openly and honestly about the events in Charlottesville over the past few days (:40-:47).... so much going on... listen and share! (Photo Credit: Washington Post)
The Nationals can't seem to get everything going in the same direction at the same time. Star pitcher goes down, bullpen improves, drop a bunch of games on the road, weather delays, and now Bryce goes down!! Stevie and Joe catch-up on all things Nats with an eye towards the playoffs and when the team may get all of its parts back ahead of the postseason push. As of now, Nats fans rest assured that the injury which looked season ending in real-time may only be a few weeks in duration... but let's be real, Harper may have just lost tens of millions of dollars slipping on one wet bag in a meaningless August game! (Photo Credit: SportsOnEarth)
So much happened in this week's episode that we expanded the commentary circle to get more fan insight! What role will Gendry play moving forward with his awesome battle axe?! Where is Yuron Greyjoy? When will Jon Snow find out who he really is? If push comes to shove will Jamie side with his sister or his brother? With just a few (long) episodes left in this season, what do you expect to happen next? D, Sam, Peter, 20, Stevie, and Joe break it all down this week! Tune in, like, and share! (Photo Credit: HBO)
It finally happened... the dragons have taken flight and chaos has won. This may have been the shortest episode at just 50 minutes long but the plot lines of several main characters didn't just inch forward, they leaped ahead! The Stark family reunion continues, Cersei's plotting continues, Jon's negotiations to join forces to fight the night-walkers continues, and Daenery's finally unleashes the dragons! Sam, Deena, and Joe talk all things GoT including what may amount to a colossal fail on behalf of the writers if Jamie doesn't survive getting shoved off his horse in the final scene... in an inch of water ... what are they thinking!? Tune in, comment, and share! (photo credit: HBO)
The Nationals have dropped a few games but Mad Max is hitting homers now and several guys are getting very very close to returning to the active roster and daily lineup. FP, Stevie, and Joe talk Nationals bullpen, trades, hitting, NL East lead, and Dodgers and Cubs too in an all-Nationals 12min blitz of content (1-12m) before they pivot to the Redskins (13-21m) and end with a discussion about the Verizon Center's potential new name and Joe shares his thoughts on Neymar moving from Barca to PSG (31-35m). Listen and share your thoughts! (photo credit: Steve Mitchell/USA TODAY Sports)
While the Mother of Dragons and Tyrion believe they have have authored the perfect battle plan to rebound from Yara Greyjoy's defeat last week the tables turn yet again as Jamie and Cersei prove yet again they are capable of outsmarting their brother. This episode had a little bit of everything and a lot of interesting twists and tidbits to dive deeper into. Casterly Rock may have fallen to Grey Worm but Yuron has the last laugh yet again while we say goodbye to another beloved character in Olenna Tyrell who met her doom but not without some final parting shots! We also had a Stark sibling reunion, and parade of shame, and several unanswered questions including the whereabouts of Arya? Listen to this episode to get Steve, John, Peter, and Joe's take on all the action and twists! (Photo Credit: HBO)
In part one of Training Camp preview LP and FP share a fans perspective on the team including expectations and concerns, however in the second part the guys are joined by Manny Benton of Breaking Burgundy and Scout to give an insiders perspective on the team. Benton shares thoughts on Jordan Reed's tow injury, the upside potential of Maurice Harris, and discusses the revamped defensive line now under the direction of Jim Tomsula! If you love the Redskins, you need to listen to this! A little cross-talk between DTC and Breaking Burgundy is just what you need to get ready for all things Redskins Training Camp! #HTTR (Photo Credit: Redskins.com)
On the eve of training camp 2017 LP and FP are live discussing the late breaking news about Jordan Reed going on the PUP list and jump into expectations for all three units of the team with a focus on the offense. The running backs will have more on their plates if Reed is to miss any extended amount of time but there may be enough fire-power on the team that all will be well down the stretch towards the playoff push. Part one is all us but stay tuned for part two with Redskins insider Manny Benton of Breaking Burgundy and Scout.com. (Photo Credit: Redskins.com)
The Nationals are back in DC and the team is ready to go against the Brewers tonight. Joe and Steve are at the park a little early to attend Dusty Baker's pre-game press conference and to watch the boys warmup on the field. Listen now! (Photo Credit: Joe Azer, DTC)
Steve, Joe, and special guests Deena and Sam, share their rapid-reaction to an eventful episode that confirms the game board is shrinking and every critical decision matters now more than ever! Steve leads with several thought provoking questions, debunking a few fan-theories along the way, and shares his thoughts on what comes next...hint: the meeting we have all been waiting for! While Deena and Sam discuss their takeaways from this episode plus share some insight on the show from a ladies perspective and Joe doubles-down on his thought that Jamie Lannister will be the one to kill Cersei! If you love Game of Thrones then tune in, comment, and share! (photo credit: Esquire Magazine)
We were all doing our own thing on a quiet summer Friday night when the news broke that John Wall had signed his contract extension with the Washington Wizards and we knew we had to jump on and record a reaction podcast! Joe, Stevie, LP, and FP, all chime in on what the John Wall extension means for the Wizards and for the city of DC (2:15-12:00) and look forward to the crumbling state of the Cavaliers with Kyrie demanding a trade and wonder... is this the season for the Wizards to make a serious push to challenge to win the East! With Wall, Beal, Porter, and Coach Brooks under contract until at least 2021 the time is now for the Wizards! The foursome also recap the Nationals post All-Star Break resurgence (14:30-28:15) and the teams recent trades! The show wraps with the popular "Point After" segment which highlights things that have nothing to do with sports going on in the guys personal lives! Have a listen and share!
With news of Kirk not getting his extension this episode focuses on the men charged with protecting him along with the men in the trenches on defense. LP and FP are bullish on both units but especially the rookies. Is the OL one of the best in the league? Is the DL improved even with noticeable losses during free agency? How much does scheme factor into unit success? Tune in and find out and Hail to the Redskins! (photo credit: Redskins.com)
The 2017 season may be the last one for Kirk Cousins under center for the Washington Redskins. The team failed to reach an agreement with their rising star Quarterback and everything is now in place for him to leave next off-season, should he choose to. Joe and Stevie discuss all the happenings of the past few days, from Bruce Allen's press conference (2:00 - 12:30), to Kirk Cousins joining 106.7 to share his side of the story (13:45 - 20:30), and then offer the fans perspective on what will come next including best case and worst case scenarios for both Kirk and the team. Joe believes that this is the Redskins best shot to win the Superbowl since his youth and if Kirk walks next off season a lot of Redskins free agents will be doing the same effectively closing this championship window! Winter has come. Season 7 has arrived. Joe, Steve, Beef, and special guest John discuss the premiere and their rapid-reaction to an episode that underwhelmed a bit but delivered a lot of information. The foursome agreed that the opening may have been one of the best scenes in the entire show and that there is a lot going on at the Citadel that hadn't been discussed previously but this episode was ultimately about two women, one standing on a map, the other taking her first look at one that are on a collision course. The boys also discuss the odds of who will be the next character to be "retired" and odds of who ultimately ends up on the throne at the end of the season! If you love the G.O.T. then tune in and share! (photo credit: Time Magazine)
Well, the fight that nobody expected to actual take place is on the books and just about one month away. LP, FP, and Stevie have the night off so Joe invited Boxing and MMA super-fan "20" on the show to discuss the fight, the hype surrounding it, and to talk tactics and predictions as well. If you love combat sports or just want to get caught up on all things Mayweather vs. McGregor this is the podcast you need to listen to. Don't miss Joe's hot take (@26min) regarding a few changes that could be made to this fight that would command an increase of the PayPerView buy from $100 to $250... could the two sports be combined into a super-combat-sport? Tune in and listen to the guys discuss! This fight is going to happen... who you got!? (photo credit: SkySports)
The Redskins are engaged in a game of high-stakes chicken with their franchise QB Kirk Cousins and LP and Joe are terrified to ask what the future holds for the franchise. The show was supposed to be about the OL/DL but quickly got sideways and into the Cousins contract status, why management is unlikely to get a deal done, and a discussion of the backup options Bruce Allen may be preparing to explore. Once upon a time LP was 99% sure the Skins would get a long term deal done with Kirk... he has updated his opinion while Joe has double-down on his. What is the magic number to get this deal done? What happens if it doesn't get done? Do Redskins fans support the team or the quarterback? ... is it really long term deal or bust?!
This show is all basketball... lots and lots of basketball! The NBA offseason is complete insanity. How can average players be paid so much guaranteed money on these short and long term deals? Hint: The ESPN TV contract has everything to do with it. These bloated salaries are happening because ESPN overpaid for the rights to broadcast the NBA and this postseason didn't help! But teams have big decisions to make too... What will the Wizards do about RFA Otto Porter? Does Gordon Hayward nudge the Celtics past the Cavaliers in the East? LP gets down into the math of several free agent moves and Joe gives everyone two teams to watch in each conference this upcoming season that are completely off most fan radars! (photo credit: appeared @ SportingNews)
The Nationals travel to St. Louis and drop two of three games but find their groove before returning home. Stevie and Joe breakdown the series and focus in on Bryce Harper's new-found swing while looking ahead to a nice home stretch for the Nats that bring the Mets and Braves to DC. The duo also briefly touch on NBA free agency, although a dedicated show with LP is coming soon, and finally they spar over the latest POTUS tweet involving a wrestling move, a CNN logo, and a whole bunch of "triggered" reporters!
Trea Turner will miss time... that we know. The full DTC cast is live and talking sport tonight on the heels of the Nationals splitting their series against the Cubs (2:54) in DC and losing Turner for at least a month. Stevie gives every Nats fan several reasons to believe things will be ok while FP discusses what moves management must make right away. The boys also discuss the NBA at length (16:20) with Joe and LP trying to figure out what the heck is happening in the NBA with CP3 moving to Houston and Paul George linked to a dozen teams with free agency just hours away. Could Phil Jackson (28:30) coach in the Big3 league? Who does Lonzo Ball (31:45) remind you of? Plus Trump (39:30) keeps tweeting and the biggest news of the week... DTC has joined the HMG family (intro)! Tune in, listen, share, repeat! Happy 4th of July to everyone! (photo credit: Katherine Frey/The Washington Post)
This episode of the D.T.C. Redskins Roster Report (Triple R) is focused on two positions that didn't change much this offseason... at least as far as the starters go. The TE position continues to be anchored by Jordan Reed but can he survive an entire season? Will the next injury he sustains push him towards retirement? Can Vernon Davis be trusted as a pass catcher? The Redskins did add some depth at the position but carrying four TE's is risky. The corner back position is a different story as they were largerly not impacted by injury last season. Adding two BIG rookies at over six feet tall and 200+ lbs gives the Skins some much needed size and hopefully will ease the pressure off second year "stud in the making" Kendall Fuller. Josh Norman will be allowed to shadow his WR target all game long, so say the coaches, how will that impact Breeland and the rest of the secondary? Tune in and find out why this group of fans is a little down on the TE's but encouraged by the new CB's! (photo credit: USA Today / Redskins Wire)
Derek Carr just signed a 5 year $125m deal with the Raiders with only $40m guaranteed and in an instant every Redskins fan asked themselves the same exact question... "Isn't Kirk worth at LEAST the same?!" Steve and Joe debate what Kirk is worth on the open market verses what he is worth to this Redskins team with this staff and this roster in the historical context of Washington DC sports plus the duo offer a few thoughts on the 1991 Redskins team (30m) which was recently hailed as the best in the NFL over the last 30 years and recap the Nationals (40m) weekend series against the Reds too!
Lonzo Ball is a Laker! Magic is doing big things in LaLaLand... and with that the 2017 NBA Draft is underway with no shortage of storylines! Steve, LP, and Joe are watching and chatting in real-time about the draft picks as they are confirmed and breaking down the plethora of trade rumors too! Be warned, Steve gets heated when his fan-hood is challenged and LP attempts to force the trio into discussing the Wizards (a team with no picks AGAIN this year) while Joe opens the show with a conspiracy theory he believes to be true.. which it might be.. why have the last 48 hours been more interesting in the NBA as opposed to the last 48 days? Tune in and find out! (photo credit: Mike Stobe/Getty Images)
On this edition of Redskins Roster Report, (TripleR) LP, FP, and Joe are locked-on wide receivers and outside linebackers! The trio debate if the Redskins WRs can replicate the success of last years unit and if the full roster of linebackers are the best of any Redskins team in the past ten years! Other topics include if Eddie Royal or Vincent Jackson should be added to the roster and why PED use should be encouraged once a player is already suspended... it's bulking season boys! #HTTR (photo credit: David Richard/AP Photo)
The Nationals traveled to New York to face the Mets in a four game series and left with three BIG wins! Steve and Joe are joined by Mat (da Met) to discuss the weekend series including the Nationals continued pitching woes, the strength of their bats, and talk about the historical significance of Trea Turner stealing a team-record FOUR bases in the final game of the series. Steve and Mat also share some insights on other teams they are watching and make a few bold predictions regarding how the Mets can become competitive again and could the Nationals still find a way to lose the division... plus a whole lot more! (Photo credit to Jayne Kamin-Oncea / USA Today)
In this Special Edition DTC Podcast Joe and LP are joined by John (by way of Rucker Park) and Dan (by way of Long Beach State) to discuss the US Men's National Team [the Outlaws] performances against Trinidad and Tobago and against Mexico. The foursome breakdown Bruce Arena's never changing long-ball tacitcs, highlight studs and duds, and one bold voice claims that 2026 is the year the U-S-A bring home the World Cup! I... I Believe... I Believe That We... I Believe That We Will Win! I Believe That We Will Win!
This the Redskins Roster Report, also known as the "Triple R" or r3! On this edition of "Skins on Duty" LP and FP dive deep into the current talent on the Redskins roster at the RB and ILB positions. Will Matt Jones be on the roster come opening day? How much of an improvement is Z.Brown as the "Mike"? Expecations for an unproven ILB core given their previous body of work? Has the roster improved at either position between this time last year and now? These are just some of the questions the boys discuss plus Joe chimes in with some observations specific to fantasy football too!
In a recap of the week that was LP, Steve, and Joe dive into what went wrong causing the Nationals to drop three straight coming home and expectations for Dusty and the team moving forward. The guys also dive a mile-deep into how the Cavaliers made the NBA Finals interesting, even though nobody was watching live, and the historical significance of Lebron and Kyrie and this team IF they do the unthinkable and win 4 straight!

Spoiler alert, only one panelist has the Nationals in the World Series, and it isn’t who you think!
LP and Joe discuss the horrible NBA finals, the dominance of the Warriors, how Lebron is to blame for the current state of the NBA and debate hypothetical matchups including the 98 Bulls, 01 Lakers, and 96 Rockets vs the current Warriors.
Harper gets hit and hits back while the NHL finals are underway (min13) with catfish on the ice. The NBA finals are finally here (min20) and Tiger continues to spiral downward (min45)… plus the guys discuss the BigBallerBrand getting crushed by a rival AAU team and multiple unintended references to the Wizards and Capitals… lots of topics, lots of banter, lots of information!
The gang regroups for a lunchtime discussion on the week that was in sports and media starting with Big Baller Brand and James Harden news then jumping into the NBA playoffs and closing with the Nationals week in review and a little about POTUS visiting Saudi Arabia and Jerusalem back to back… hmm… fix is in?
The Wizards lost game seven to the Celtics in Boston on Tuesday night. The DTC crew go inside the game to explain why plus they ask callers if the team exceeded their expectations for the season… connect with us on social media to keep the conversation going. The Wizards season may be over but it was hardly a disappointment especially when compared with the Capitals season. #DCfamily be encouraged!
The Capitals dropped game seven at Verizon Center while the Wizards went on the road to Boston but failed to get off the plane losing game five to the Celtics. The Nationals were able to come from behind to beat the O’s but like most DC sports fans, the Capitals season ending paired with the Wizards losing badly is just absolutely soul-crushing. Special guest Andrew joins Steve and Joe to discuss the rollercoaster of emotion fans are feeling in DC tonight.
