Exploring your emotional relationship with money is key to financial success in your business. Yet so many of us avoid the topic completely. In the healing communities especially, money tends to be a taboo subject.
But we believe this needs to change if healers want to rise up, achieve the freedom they are seeking, and be able to serve others in a sustainable and rewarding way. We must be willing to address our relationship to money, both individually and as a collective.
So in this episode we get real with Maggie Klokkenga, a financial coach and planner, about how to do just that. Maggie provides key financial mindset techniques and business strategies you can implement immediately to heal your relationship with money and get back on track with your finances.
Resources Discussed in Episode:
Meet Maggie:
Maggie Klokkenga is a financial coach and the owner of Make a Money Mindshift, a financial coaching and planning firm in central Illinois.
Maggie helps individuals and couples to reduce their overwhelm and shame with money by sharing with them WHY they’ve made past spending choices, which empowers them to change their current spending patterns and achieve those financial goals they only dreamed about. Maggie teaches that once you discover your WHY, you can adjust your mindset and change your HOWs to achieve your WHATs. Maggie is a CFP® and CPA and has been in the financial services industry for 25 years. She thoroughly enjoys helping people put the pieces of their money puzzle together, not only solving the ubiquitous question of “Where is my money going?,” but also helping her clients identify and set achievable goals, including knowing their numbers so they can leave toxic jobs and pursue positions that fill their souls.
You can find out more about Maggie’s financial coaching packages at https://makeamoneymindshift.com, and you can follow her on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube at Make a Money Mindshift.

As business owners it's safe to say we have to set goals we want to achieve in order to keep our businesses open and to continue to serve our communities. But it's easy to get caught up in the hustle of more, more, more; and that can take a toll on our energy, self-worth, and experience of our enoughness. During our chat with Dawn Herring today, you'll hear some of the ways she's stepped out of that hustle mode and into her own experience of enoughness in her business and life.
Meet Dawn: Dawn Herring is the owner, founder and Chief Empowerment Officer at Empowered Births and Beginnings, whose mission is to help change the narrative and experience of birth from one of disempowerment and fear to empowerment and courage! Her work as a doula, childbirth educator and birth empowerment coach was sparked by her own transformational journey of pregnancy and childbirth and she loves guiding both first time and experienced Mamas on their unique path to an empowered birth, and beyond. She is married to her husband Greg, Mama to two beautiful children Benjamin and Savannah and their kitty cat, Ty. In her off-time, you can find her doing Pilates, exploring Florida's beautiful parks and nature preserves, shopping at HomeGoods, baking cupcakes and crafting.
Special Offer: For any pregnant or soon to be folks, mention that you heard me on this podcast and save $50 off the Empowered Birth Series Birth Education Classes and/or book a 1 hour Birth Empowerment Session with me for free. You don't have to be pregnant to do the Empowerment session; it's a great opportunity to explore what may already be there for you about birth, answer questions and give you a place to jump from in terms of mindful and kindful preparation for whenever you do get pregnant. Starting early in birth mindset preparation is key to a positive and empowered experience.

You have a clear vision for your business. You know the kind of life that you want for yourself.
But everytime you want to take action, you psych yourself out. Or you come up with a million reasons for why now is not the time. Or you spend hours obsessing over one small detail and then give up altogether.
If this is you, don’t worry, you are not alone.
We see lots of wellness professionals struggle with perfectionism and, unfortunately, it prevents them from creating a life and business they truly want and deserve.
Our guest today, Branden Barnett, was definitely one of those folks. He struggled with perfectionism, scarcity thinking, and limited beliefs that kept him stuck for a long time.
The good news is, once he found support and started doing the personal work, his business took OFF.
Now he runs a successful practice in St. Petersburg for artists and creatives, is launching a podcast, and has established himself as the go-to expert for mental health in the arts community.
Tune in to hear more about Branden’s story, including his process of rebranding his practice, how he got crystal clear on his niche and the specific action steps that he recommends to reduce anxiety, overcome perfectionism and be more creative in business and in life.
Meet Branden: Branden Barnett is the owner and therapist at Liberated Mind Counseling in downtown St. Pete, Florida. He has dedicated his life to helping creatives destroy anxiety and break through imposter syndrome so they can get back to making the best art of their lives. Branden is also the singer/songwriter for the band Ghost Shirt.

It’s tricky isn’t it?
Dreaming of becoming or doing 1 thing and when you get into it it loses its luster…it’s significance.
This happened to Meredith. She had known she wanted to become a Police Officer for, well, ever, and after a long time in the field and switching through various departments she finally called it and moved into her 2nd career…therapy.
Meredith’s story feels pretty similar to yours, perhaps, if you have struggled to market yourself, get clients, work through imposter syndrome…you get it. You’ve lived it.
Meredith joined the Visionaries Collective Mastermind and discovered her ninja skills and how to authentically “sell” herself to her ideal clients. See, she believed she had to be “for everyone” and in doing so she was for “no one.”
Listen in to Meredith’s story about what she gained from her experience working with Jamie and Olivia and where her practice is at now. Hint: she is killing it!

Y’ALL. This episode is about to take you somewhere…
Kim’s story isn’t unlike many of you. She found herself stuck in the world of therapy for over 20 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. At some point in her wild career, she found eastern medicine and jumped full force to getting her Doctorate in Oriental Medicine and going on to practice Acupuncture.
Like so many, she found herself frenzied and over-worked and began to resent her therapy work thus not showing up fully as herself.
Throughout the last few years, she had set a goal to get out of therapy, 100% completely full stop, and go all-in on acupuncture.
She joined the Visionaries Collective Mastermind in the MIDDLE of COVID 2020 and never looked back.
Kim details her journey in today’s podcast and how she successfully moved out of therapy and has a THRIVING Acupuncture clinic in St. Petersburg, FL!
If you have ever felt stuck in her current situation and paralyzed by how to do anything beyond, you are in for a TREAT.

It is also the time to think about how we want to feel and who we want to be in the upcoming year; to think about the intentions we want to set and how we can take inspired action.

If you're struggling with the fear of being visible online, worried about what other people will think, afraid of failing...or just simply don't feel good enough, then this episode is for you!
In this episode, we discuss how experiences from both this life and past lives create many of the blocks we feel today, and why simply “pushing through the fear” doesn't work for so many spiritual entrepreneurs.
Meet Helen: Helen Hardware is a Soulful Confidence Coach and helps spiritual entrepreneurs to unlock their confidence and courage to be visible as their authentic self and make their unique impact on the world.
Helen had an interest in spirituality and crystal healing as a teenager but turned her back on it and pursued a career in law and financial services. Throughout her career Helen was plagued by fears of not being good enough which ultimately led to her burn out and being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. In a drive to heal herself Helen re-discovered a long repressed spiritual side through Kundalini Yoga and hypnotherapy.
Despite this when Helen set up her own hypnotherapy business, she continued to work on a very scientific and psychological basis because of fears of what other people would think of her spiritual gifts, until she finally accepted that to be in alignment and show up as her authentic self, meant letting go of fears of judgement, rejection or failure and bringing a wealth of spiritual practices and tools into her client work. She now helps others to unlock their natural confidence by learning how to know that they are good enough just as they are.
Helen is a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Rapid Transformational Therapist (trained by Marisa Peer), Past Life Regression therapist, NLP Practitioner, Kundalini Yoga teacher, crystal healer, crystal sonic therapist and reiki healer.
Special offer: Grab Helen’s FREE guided hypnosis recording HERE.

Did you know that achieving your health & wellness goals and feeling healthier and more confident in your body actually begins in your mind?
This includes letting go of guilt, judgement and all the negative self-talk you've been living with for so long. Change begins in your mind. Your health & wellness lies within your thoughts.
In this episode, special guest Abbey Heagney discusses why diets are not sustainable, how our thoughts affect our actions and our results and why it's important to approach ourselves with love - wherever we are.
Meet Abbey: Abbey Heagney is a certified health coach and founder of Wellness with Abbey. Through her private coaching programs, she works with women who are ready to ditch dieting and guilt and create sustainable healthy changes for a more balanced and energetic life. She helps her clients understand how their body's response to food, stress, relationship and movement is all connected - and that prioritizing their own needs is not only not selfish...it’s necessary. She wholeheartedly believes that you can change your relationship with food, achieve your goals, live a life of balance and feel healthy and confident in your mind and body without restrictions or complex diets. Abbey lives in Connecticut with her husband, two children and lovable Bernese Mountain Dog. She loves food, wine, working out with her Peloton and life outdoors.

We are whole-istic beings. And we know that all aspects of our health management, such as diet, lifestyle and exercise are important. However, in this episode we explore how adopting the right mindset and utilizing a simple meditation practice can help you radically improve your well-being in a very short amount of time. If you are a busy wellness professional, you need this episode!
Meet Asia: As a Holistic Health Coach, I help women heal from burnout and chronic stress so they feel strong & feminine again – while dropping the fatigue, anxiety and hormonal imbalances.
A few years ago I went through a real health crisis of my own. The wrong type of relationship, high levels of stress, and negative emotions, led me to feeling completely exhausted. In order to regain my health & well-being, I went on a real journey during which I became a Certified Traditional Chinese Medicine Nutritionist and a Qigong instructor. However, the biggest changes in my health happened when I understood that it is the way WE THINK and the way WE FEEL on a daily basis that has the biggest impact on our well-being.
Today, I work with open-minded, career-focused women, helping them regain their health and well-being, regardless of whether they suffer from a serious illness, or want to improve their overall wellbeing.

We're taught the difference between healthy and unhealthy food choices from a young age. And a Google search related to the terms "diet" or "weight loss" will yield millions of results in a matter of milliseconds. Yet, of the hundreds of people who diet each year, 85% regain the weight they lose within 12 months and 95% regain it within three years. Worse - nearly 50% end up weighing even more than when they began their initial weight-loss efforts just a few short years later. So if we know what to do and have an infinite number of resources to help us lose weight, why can't we as a population figure out how to achieve sustainable weight loss? In this episode, we'll share the single most important change you can make to achieve sustainable weight loss - for good.
About Paul: I’m a Registered Dietitian, Coach, Author, and Sustainable Weight-Loss Expert. I firmly believe that weight-loss-related challenges aren’t related to lack of nutrition knowledge, but are actually projections of deeper rooted emotional and psychological challenges and that one won’t be able to confidently sustain weight loss until those challenges are acknowledged and overcome.
My passion is helping men and women bring awareness to the negative self-talk, toxic thought patterns, limiting beliefs, counterproductive habits, and self-sabotaging behaviors holding them back from achieving their goals and helping them to understand the origins and then rewrite, reframe, and rewire for lasting, positive change.
Since 2013, I’ve worked one-on-one with 1,453 men and women who have collectively lost more than 10,000 pounds, thousands of inches, and maintained their results.

Compassion Fatigue.
A HUGE issue in the field of wellness.
Too many of us still wear productivity and giving all of ourselves as a badge of honor. We put everyone and everything else first until there is nothing less - and most of us don’t realize it until we develop significant health issues!
In this episode, Jamie + Olivia sit down with special guest Kerry Magnus to explore why so many healers and empaths are prone to burnout and compassion fatigue, AND what you can put in place to ensure you are serving from a nourished, rested place rather than from an empty well. This includes:
If you are feeling burnt out right now, this episode is definitely for you!
Meet Kerry: Kerry is a Holistic Psychologist and BodyTalk practitioner and supports women who are deeply called to make an impact in the world to embrace their purpose without burning out. She offers a unique body, mind and spirit approach to understand and transform the underlying patterns that create an overly sensitive stress response, physical imbalance and fatigue.
Hers is an approach that goes beyond relying on medical practitioners to take your power back into your own hands as you become more aware of what has caused your fatigue and what is needed to step back into your balanced, thriving self.
Through her own journey of Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome Kerry discovered that there is a gift in the fatigue as the body communicates that something needs to change and the journey involves not just healing the body but aligning with the soul and sharing that with the world.

Do you ever feel like your work life and your personal life are totally different?
Maybe you feel like you are a totally different person at your job, that the values of your workplace don’t align with your personal values.
Or maybe you are self-employed and your branding in your wellness business feels off - like it just is not quite you... it just doesn’t fit. You were kind of following what other people were doing in your field and now feel like you don’t have your own voice.
If any of these statements resonate with you, don’t worry! These feelings are actually very common for wellness practitioners. It takes time to find your voice and then represent it in a way that feels authentic and aligned.
In this episode, Jamie + Olivia explore some of the most common ways they see wellness practitioners become misaligned, and discuss ways in which you can begin to clarify and speak your voice as a wellness practitioner.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the day-to-day tasks and activities in our business that we can easily lose touch with the “why” behind the business. We forget about the reason for the work, the core values driving everything that we do. And that is when our business will look and feel misaligned - to potential clients/patients, fellow colleagues, and even for ourselves.
Those core values are EVERYTHING. We need them to stay focused, stay committed, and to ensure we are consistently presenting an aligned, authentic brand to the public.
Join Jamie and Olivia as they explore the core values in their own businesses and give you the tools you need to either create or reconnect to the core values in your business too.

Have you ever wondered what branding is?
In general, branding is the process of creating a name, symbol, or design that identifies and differentiates a product from other products. It’s about making your business stand out in the crowd. It’s about building trust with your audience so they know who you are and what to expect when they come to you for whatever it is that you do.
It is your distinct voice in the marketplace. How does your ideal client or community feel when they interact with your brand? What is the emotion?
Ultimately, you want people to love your brand as much as they love what it stands for – which means taking care of every little detail. But how do we get there? What should we be thinking about when we start our own company or try to refresh an existing one? How can I make my message clear and memorable without being too pushy or overbearing? And how will this help me grow my business in the long run?
All these questions and more are answered in today’s episode!
Buckle up and lets dig into some branding...
Love and Light,
Jamie + Olivia

Financial skills are something most of us were never taught, and yet they're essential for our health and well-being as healers. So many healers feel conflict, shame and confusion about money - making money, managing money, understanding money, and this creates stress and noise for us that distracts us from focusing on our real passions and gifts
But Linzy Bonham is here to change this narrative. She wants you to know that money is learnable - even if you think you're not a "money person" or a spreadsheet person, you can learn to manage your money so it really works for you in your life
Join Olivia and Jamie as they chat with Linzy about the simple steps you can take to start releasing negative emotions you have about money and create the wealth that you deserve.

Feeling burnt out from all the 1:1 sessions?
If so, you are definitely not alone. This is one of the most common concerns we hear from wellness practitioners.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.
If you are dreaming of making more money and reducing your clinical time, this episode is for you.
Join Olivia and Jamie as they chat with business expert Nicole Liloia about one of the most important skills you can learn as a wellness entrepreneur: building multiple revenue sources.
Meet Nicole:

Nicole got her masters in Social Work from Columbia University and has contributed to Forbes, Huffington Post, Mind Body Green, and more. She'll always say yes to Taco Tuesday and loves a glass of Apothic wine.

Being a healer in business can be really hard. As highly sensitives, empaths, and generally very caring people, we often put others’ needs ahead of our own. We often care too much. We often try too hard. And many of us push ourselves until we are burnt out.
But this won’t work in business. You cannot create profit from scarcity and overwhelm. You cannot create a sustainable business when you operate from a place of chaos and stress.
Join Jamie as she shares the 3 must-have tools that have helped her stay healthy, make money, and create a life and business that she loves!

Starting a private practice can be daunting.
Oftentimes we only see the highlight reel in business - the successes. We see the finished products.
But we don’t see all of the other stuff it takes to get there - the late nights, the mindset struggles, the fear., the finances.
And not everyone is completely honest about the highs and lows of the process.
But we are.
And in this episode, with our special guest Dr. Jane Tornatore, we get real with you on what it really takes to be successful in business as a healer.
Tune in to hear the personal journey of a long-time business owner and get her advice on how you can create the business of your dreams.
Meet Jane:
Dr. Jane Tornatore is a therapist, speaker and author based in Seattle, WA. She has been in private practice for 15 years. Meditation is certainly a buzz word these days - whether it is healers talking about including meditation in their own self-care routine or teaching these techniques to their clients.
But while we all know we need to be including meditation in our daily lives, many healers struggle with actually doing the practice. This can happen for many reasons.
Maybe you feel like you don’t have time.
Maybe you aren’t sure what exactly to do.
Maybe you have trouble being still and the word meditation itself brings you anxiety.
All of these issues are very common.
So we brought in an expert to chat about what meditation is, simple ways to incorporate it into your daily life, and how you can help your clients / patients utilize it in their lives too.
Join us as we explore all of this and more with our featured guest, Tammy Khan, founder of the Happy Meditator!
Meet Tamy:
Tamy Khan is a mindfulness and happiness coach, yoga teacher, and the founder of Happy Meditator. She helps people create a calmer, more mindful, and happier resilient life.
She does this through one to one coaching, group classes, and online programs. Her coaching is based on mindfulness techniques, meditation & scientifically proven happiness strategies. She believes that anybody can create a life with less stress, anxiety, and better-balanced emotions.
Happy Meditator is her life’s dream of creating a place where people can get inspired and get help with creating a happy life that they want. We all have the potential for happiness and having some guidance in the process can help things fall into place.
She has a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work with a specialty in working adults and the elderly. She is an experienced mental health counselor, group therapist, and healthcare manager.
She's worked with families, seniors, and people suffering from depression, dementia, affective disorders, schizophrenia, and addiction problems.

Hello, Beautiful People!
This month is all about how we show up and take care of ourselves as empaths and business owners. For most of us, we struggle to give ourselves permission to say “no” or simply to focus on what WE need as we are more apt to focus on everyone and everything else.
In today’s episode, Olivia sits down with Dr. Amy Reinke who is a midwife with Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. There is so much good good in this episode ...
This episode is everything and we think it is going to resonate hard with you…
Love and Light,
Jamie and Olivia

Hey, Beautiful People!
This month on the Visionaries Collective Podcast we are focusing on Health and Vitality as Empaths in Business so it seems fitting that we kick it off by talking about…MOVEMENT.
As healers, we tend to prioritize everyone and everything ELSE but ourselves. Boo.
In today’s episode, Olivia chats about how having a movement practice helps you to save money, save time and actually help you show up for the people who matter most in your life.
Movement is medicine, how do you take it?

Hola!
Today we are diving into some super practical tips on cultivating a killer mindset. So many of us approach mindset like it is a one-and-done kind of thing but…is it? Do you go to the dentist once in your life and then you’re set? Gosh, I hope not 😬
Olivia is pretty candid in this episode where she gets pretty vulnerable about how she had historically approached mindset and some major obstacles she encountered in the very beginning of her building her private practice.
Don’t worry, this short and sweet episode isn’t really about Olivia and how she had struggled with mindset but it is about YOU. How you can cultivate a bad ass mindset that is going to set you and your business up for success with some practical tips.
We’re all in this together, friend. Lets get into it…

But how many of us, despite knowing this, still struggle with balancing the subtle energies we experience daily as empaths and healers?

As healers, we all know the standard self-care strategies that we need to be doing. We know them because we teach them to our clients on a daily basis.
But how aware are you really about your own physical, emotional, and spiritual needs? How often do you invest in the things that help you be your best? How often do you truly tune in to what your body is asking of you?
Self-care for healers goes SO much deeper than the standard strategies, and as business owners, this is a must for a successful, profitable business.
Join Jamie and Olivia as they explore their own journey with self-care and what you need to ensure you are thriving both personally and professionally.

Estelle learned early on that music provided refuge from a life harrowed by oppression and violence, where her voice was silenced and her speech stolen. She was first rescued by the piano, which she learned to play at age 5. Music continued to provide escape as she studied the saxophone and became an avid dancer, before she truly found her voice at 26 when she began formal opera training. Her passion for music, the inspiration she found from frequent visits to South Africa and her eventual move to the U.S. set the stage for the songs she writes today.
As soon as she moved to California’s Bay Area in 2013, she knew she belonged. Oakland’s energy, its diverse population and the absence of prejudice and judgment among people of so many backgrounds and cultures energized her, suggesting the name by which she is known today: Estelle California. “California is the home of the family and the love I could have ever dreamed of having. I will be forever grateful I met you, California.”
Join Jamie and Estelle as they chat about resilience, overcoming trauma, and how to use creativity on your journey to becoming an empowered, resilient woman in the world today.
Meet Estelle:
Estelle California has established herself as a promising artist with an important and powerful message to share. Estelle California is a passionate artist, musician, writer and activist dedicated
to shining the Light of resilience and bringing forth social healing throughout the world. Her first two singles Star and Black is the True Light have garnered significant media attention and have resonated with people around the world.

Saying “no” is often a challenge for empaths and healers, especially when we are offering wellness services to others. Whether it’s fear of not making enough money, lack of trust in ourselves and our abilities, or simply wanting to be of service to as many people as possible, saying yes to everyone and every opportunity actually does us and our clients more harm than good. And it is a common mistake that I see healers in business make all the time!
The problem with saying yes to everything is that it often leads to working with clients that may not be a best fit for our services, feelings of severe overwhelm and burnout, and sometimes even leaving the work all together.
I think learning how to say “no” is one of the most powerful ways we can ensure we are providing the best possible services to the world and that we are supporting the clients that can best benefit from our gifts.
In this episode I share my personal journey with learning how to say “no” and why I think it is such an important tool for you to learn too!

Being an empath + a healer and being a business person are two different things, two very different ways of being. And I know that many of my listeners are trying to figure out how to blend these two identities in a healthy way... I know this because I myself have personally have struggled with this in the past and I see it happening frequently in a variety of wellness fields.
Whether you are working a side gig, starting a wellness business, or have been in business for a while, as a healer you are in a unique position of having to balance caring for others while also caring for yourself. This can be a hard balancing act to manage, and you must have the right tools in place in order to do it successfully.
This topic is very near and dear to my heart because I feel like many healers struggle in business, which is a shame because if we burn out, we can’t help others.
We often put others' needs before our own, we tend to undersell ourselves, and we overwork ourselves to help as many people as we can.
But this is not a sustainable way of operating a business. We have a high burnout in the field of mental health, for example, and I believe it is because we are not taught the tools for sustainable, life-long work as healers.
I believe the first step towards creating a life and business that nourishes you, feels rewarding, and prevents burnout is establishing the right mindset.
It sounds so simple, but it really is everything.
So in this episode I will explain why I believe mindset is your #1 most important tool in your wellness business right now, now matter what stage of business you're in, as well as how you can begin establishing the right mindset today.

Let’s be honest...most of us have tried some kind of diet at some point in our lives. And most often, it is to lose weight or achieve some kind of body ideal that we have set in our minds.
But dieting can easily send us on a track to disordered eating, negative body image and poor self-esteem. When we fixate on foods being good or bad, numbers on the scale, and the never ending quest to lose “just 5-10 pounds,” it can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, and even trauma.
The diet industry makes millions of dollars by marketing unattainable standards of thinness to women that are based on western beauty standards and completely dismiss healthy living and eating habits based on ethnic, religious or other cultural traditions. And when we have these images delivered to us constantly through tv, social media, and print, it is very easy to develop a negative with food and the scale.
Join Jamie and her guests, Tonya and Tracy as they explore how you can push back against the diet fad industry, find peace with food, and develop a more positive relationship with your body.

Healthy relationships are an essential part of being well mentally, physically, and spiritually. At our core, we are social beings, and we crave community. Kinship. We need to feel loved, safe, and secure. We need support from our inner circle.
As empaths, this is particularly important. We absorb so much energy from the world around us, and we feel the pain of others so often that it is easy to get pulled into relationships with wounded souls that need help.
In this episode, Jamie shares her thoughts on how empaths can take better care of themselves in relationships, as well as 5 signs that you might be in an unhealthy relationship and need to make a change.

We are currently experiencing a lot of turbulence in the world right now, and it is a lot to take in and digest. And in order to move through the turbulence, create change, and find peace, we need to be able to truly listen to others and hear what they have to say, whether it is a partner, a friend, a colleague, or even a complete stranger. We also need to also understand and honor how we process information and respect how others around us digest and process information as well. In this episode, Jamie explores ways in which you can pause, reflect, and respond in a way that is loving and supportive for both you, the people around you and in your life.

One of the most powerful ways you can step into fullest alignment and live your best life is to allow your internal spirit to truly guide your decisions and your actions – to trust what your intuition is telling you to do.
Trusting your intuition is not only knowing how your inner spirit communicates with you, such as feelings in your body or emotions that you experience, but it is also fully trusting and leaning into that, no matter what the external world is telling you. No matter what fears or doubts you might be having.
Join Jamie as she explores how to begin practicing intuitive living and the 3 strategies she recommends that will help you connect with your inner guide.

As a therapist that specializes in mind-body-spirit living, one of the key components of my work is helping individuals (and couples) connect with their true, authentic selves. This means embracing all pieces of their identity, the good and the bad. The light and the dark. The beautiful and the ugly. We are complex, holistic made of memories, experiences, emotions and thoughts, and in order to be healthy and whole, we must be willing to integrate, accept, and even embrace ALL pieces of ourselves.
This is hard to do though. And for many people, if we feel shame or guilt about pieces of our identity, we may develop unhelpful behaviors to cope, with perfectionism being one of those behaviors.
Join Jamie as she identifies 3 common ways perfectionism can creep into our daily lives and provides you with 3 strategies you can implement now to overcome your perfectionist tendencies.

Lack of confidence can permeate so many areas of our lives - the type of jobs we accept, the relationships we choose, the partners we seek out. It can even influence our ability to engage in self-care, such as choosing healthy, nutritious foods and finding time to include exercise in our daily routines.
If we don’t feel good about ourselves, that will reflect in how we interact with the world around us.
Essentially, how we feel about ourselves at our core influences literally everything that we do.
Join Jamie as she explores 3 common signs of low confidence and then provides 5 practices you can start doing now to boost your confidence.

To be honest, I personally LOVE setting new years goals and resolutions. I know a lot of people think it sounds cliché, but because I am so passionate about manifestation and intention setting, I love the idea of announcing my goals to the universe.
Taking the time to set resolutions actually forces us to pause and reflect. To really think about the kind of life that we want to create for ourselves; to think about what is working and what is not working, and what needs to change. And it helps us identify clear action steps we can take to create and maintain the change that we want to see.
Join Jamie in this week’s episode, where she provides you with her own personal process for identifying what isn’t working in life - and how to make changes for the better.

Samadhi, the final step in the 8-limbed yogic path, is a state of being in which the soul and the Divine become unified: it is the ultimate goal of the yoga practice. It can be described as a state of intense concentration that is achieved through meditation – a state of being that becomes natural after the work of the preceding 7 limbs have been done.
Join Jamie as she explores the concept of Samadhi and provides you with some simple journaling questions for reflection and consideration.

In Dhyana, which is a form of meditation, you not only concentrate on a point of focus, you now do it with the intention of knowing the truth about that object, which makes this a more contemplative, spiritual practice. Dhyana is meant to create a state of tranquility – you are cleansing the subconscious, developing deeper concentration, and developing a unified connection with the Divine. By practicing Dhyana, the yogi calms their mind and is eventually able to look at the outside world without any distractions, enabling them to reach a new level of awareness.
Jamie explores Dhyana and also provides listeners with her 2 favorite methods for learning how to meditate.

Dharana is defined as concentration, or, the practice in which one learns to maintain fixed attention on one particular object. It is often described as the work needed to get your mind prepared and able to do mediation, or Dhyana (the 7th limb). It is the act of concentrating, the act of bringing your “monkey mind” back to this one object over and over again.

Pratyahara is probably the least discussed yet most important limb of the 8-limbed path. Join Jamie as she explores how to practice Pratyahra as well as her simple tips for implementing this practice into your daily routine.

Many yogis believe that the practice of pranayama is a way to connect the unconscious to the conscious, therefore integrating the mind, body, and spirit. There are numerous pranayama practices that manipulate the breath in a variety of ways: extending or shortening the lengths of inhalation and exhalation, suspending the breath, or contracting the breath. Pranayama can be part of a daily practice or used to achieve specific results. And it is often recommended that beginners practice more advanced pranayama practices under the guidance of a teacher.

Asana is probably the most recognizable part of yoga in the West – If you have ever attended a yoga class, you have done Asana! Most yoga classes have a series of physical postures in a specific sequence created by the teacher, usually to music, that lasts about one hour. You can find yoga classes everywhere – gyms, yoga studios, martial arts studios, outdoors, at big events.
Asana is often used to describe yoga postures. Join Jamie as she explores how Asana has evolved over time as well as her tips for implementing yoga postures in your life.

Tapas (self-disipline)
Svadhyaya (sefl-study)
Ishvara Pranidhana (surrender)

The Yamas are the beginning of Patanjali’s 8-fold yoga path. These 5 universal codes form the foundation of the practice and are essentially moral, ethical and societal principles concerning how we approach both our internal world and the world around us. The word Yamas literally translates into “restraints” and includes:
Ahimsa (nonviolence)
Satya (truthfulness)
Asteya (non-stealing)
Brahmacharya (faithfulness)
Aparigraha (non-attachment / non-excess)
Rather than just a negative list of don’ts, these codes instead remind us that our fundamental nature is compassionate, generous, honest and peaceful.
Jamie provides definitions and insight into each Yama and explores how you can infuse each one in your daily life.
