We see that In Jesus death and burial Jesus understands, he identifies with mankind, it was a moment of total humiliation and helplessness, and yet he was buried in anticipation of resurrection.

Geoff and Mary Weekes bring this morning's devotion from Micah 6:8. The people of God in Micah's day were caught up in endless religious observance. Yet in Micah 6:8 Geoff and Mary help us see what the lord really requires of his people, a life pleasing to God is a life that reflects the character of God. Most clearly we see the character and motivation for a life pleasing to God in Jesus himself.
This morning's Lent devotion comes from Psalm 103, Roger Henwood helps us think together about what God is really like. It may be easy to think of God as a strict taskmaster, yet in Psalm 103 we see that the Lord is truly a good, gracious and compassionate God!
Adam, Elinor and Elizabeth rose bring this morning's devotion from Matthew 16:21-27. Our attention is drawn to Jesus words as he looks ahead to the cross, he speaks of the suffering he would go through to save his people. But here we also see the way of his followers is one of self-sacrifice and suffering, but with great hope, "he is not fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose."
Jimmy Thomas brings this morning's Lent devotion from Jeremiah 23:5-6. Jeremiah speaks of a God of righteousness, in the midst of a world of confusion. He looks forward to one to come who would bring righteousness. Jeremiah looks forward to the day wrath and justice and righteousness and grace met at the Cross.
Alan Young brings our Lent devotion for today. He takes us to John 14:1-6 and 20:24-28 and the story of the Apostle Thomas. His story helps us understand the purposes of Jesus for the whole world.
This morning Vinny and Amy take us to John 11 and the account of the resurrection of Lazarus. They help us see just how amazing and life changing Jesus claim to actually be the resurrection and the life, not just a ticket to the resurrection and the life, is, and help us apply that to our hearts.

Ross and Allayne take us to 2 Cor 12 for this morning's Lent devotion. We find that Paul had a thorn in the flesh, something really painful. Yet in this the Lord met him with grace in Jesus. Our weaknesses may be great, but though we are weak, by the Lord's grace, his strength is at work in us.
Tom Brewer brings this morning's devotional considering the pattern of faith and repentance in the Christian life. He particularly focusses on David's experience of unrepentant distress truing to blessed joy as he confessed his sin to the Lord in Psalm 32. Tom then leads us in a prayer of repentance and faith, written by an old saint of many years ago.
How do we cope with anxiety? This morning Susanna brings our devotion from Philippians 4v6-7, which reminds us of the beautiful truth that as God’s beloved children, we can bring any and every concern to our Heavenly Father, with the knowledge that peace will be freely given.
Trevor and Sheila Dolby bring this morning's Lent devotion from 1 Peter 1:3-5. As we look back, forward and around at Jesus wonderful work, past, future and present we see the wonderful new life we are called into. With whole new identity and a hope that can never fade away. Praise God!

This morning Jess Graham brings our Lent devotion, she takes us to Proverbs 3:5-6 and helps us see how easily we trust in our own strength and pride. Yet the Proverbs show us the delight of trusting in God who is strong and mighty and totally trustworthy.
Kitty and Elinor Rose bring our devotion this morning from Psalm 46. In the noise, chaos and fear of life, where should we look? The psalmist writes of the ever present God we have who himself is able to help in our fear. The only one who can truly guarantee our eternal safety and security.
This morning Roger Henwood brings our devotion from Romans 15:7-13. He speaks of how God has saved a people of all nations, that that has always been his purpose. Roger helps us see we are all acceptable through Christ, and so this is also the basis for our acceptance and love for each other.
Alan and Tat young bring this morning's devotion. They take us to the wonderful truths that ravish our hearts in Romans 8:31-39. All that would seek to divide us from God cannot for a moment separate us from the love of God in Christ. What a wonderful and certain hope we have.

Lexi Battle joins the podcast to talk about the Real Change course with Alan Barnett who did the course recently.
Real Change is a six-session small group bible study that gives us an opportunity to reflect on one particular area of our lives and then to learn more about how God changes us to become more like Jesus. (For more details see https://www.biblicalcounselling.org.uk/realchange/).

Ahead of our morning sermon series starting this weekend in 2 Corinthians Paul introduces us to the book: What was the city of Corinth like? How did the church there begin? What was the church there like? What about the backwards and forwards letters between Paul and the church in Corinth? Why should we be excited about this sermon series? Paul takes us through these questions and more as well as encouraging us to get stuck into 2 Corinthians for ourselves.
In the next of our podcasts thinking through some big questions Paul tackles the issue of how we understand the Old testament law as believers today. How did it work for Old testament believers, how Jesus treated the law and how we apply it to ourselves as believers in the new covenant?
Starting in September, We will be working our way through the book of Proverbs in our evening services at Widcombe baptist Church. In this podcast Paul gives us an introduction to the book, considering how we understand the uniqueness of Proverbs and how we might read it for ourselves.
Paul returns to the Podcast to consider the whole issue of the cannon: Have we got the right books in our Bibles? What about the other books and letters that were written? How did the cannon of the Old and New Testaments become accepted?

Ross and Allayne introduce our new venture, the Covid Blues cafe. The cafe is an opportunity for people from our community to drop in and speak about their experiences during the pandemic and life more generally. Ross and Allayne explain what the cafe will be like, how it came about, how you can be involved, and how to be praying for this ministry.
