This grant pays up to $6800.00 directly to veterans for home improvements to make a home more accessible for certain disabilities.

ChampVA is forcing Federal Retireee spouses who have ChampVA to take Medicare. ChampVA is secondary Payer to Medicare as well as secondary payer to other federal employees health insurance. Having Medicare is not necessary in this case. We need to discuss this and get this rule changed or lose ChampVA.

In November 2017, we launched RAMP with the goal of providing eligible appellants with the earliest possible resolution of their disagreement with VA's decision on their claim.RAMP is voluntary and will provide you with the opportunity to enter the new, more efficient review process outlined in the historic Veterans Appeals Improvement and Modernization Act of 2017 (Appeals Modernization Act), which the President signed into law on August 23, 2017.Under RAMP, you can expect to receive a review of the decision on your claim much faster than if you remain in the legacy appeals process. The program will allow participants the option to have their decisions reviewed in the Higher-Level Review or Supplemental Claim Lane outlined in the new law.RAMP will run through February 2019, when we plan to fully implement the Appeals Modernization Act. Further, we will continue to process RAMP elections as long as necessary to continue to accelerate resolution of legacy appeals.

Bridget C. Cantrell, Ph.D. provides mental health services to the general public as well as combat veterans, active duty, reservists, retired military and their families. She also works with law enforcement and first responders. In addition, she conducts specific assessments for those who are seeking assistance with Social Security, accident claims, and Veteran issues. She is an expert witness in cases involving Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that has resulted from the military deployment, personal assaults, motor vehicle accidents, job related injuries, etc.

Hearts Toward Home International is a charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to the recovery and integration of trauma survivors. Dr. Cantrell provides workshops for military service members, focusing on recovery and readjustment after deployment to the war zone. She has traveled extensively to military bases around the country and internationally to work directly with our service members, their families and their leaders. She also works with those affected by military sexual trauma and harassment.

The S.A.V.E. Farm
A gap exists between the need for new farmers in our country and a large potential population of new farmers that exists within our veteran and transitioning servicemember populations. The average age of farmers in the U.S. is approaching 60 with 40% over 65. Sixty-three percent (63%) of our farms may be in the last generation. Therefore succession planning is critical in the country's farming future.
2.3 million veterans and transitioning servicemembers are looking for a meaningful way to live life. A high percentage of them indicate an interest in farming. Therefore, a tremendous opportunity exists.
To bridge the gap, a pathway to farming for our veterans and servicemembers is needed. Servicemember Agricultural Vocation Education, or S.A.V.E farm, will bridge the gap providing a home-like training center where they can learn to farm and heal as they are brought into the culture of agriculture. Upon completion of training, transitioning servicemembers and veterans will be matched with mentor farmers with the potential to work on, manage or own a farm.
What do we need to do to maintain our VA benefits. I have seen some recent stories lately that will scare the veteran out of his shoes. We will discuss these and more.

James Cripps was the first person to prove his exposure to Agent Orange within the U.S. Cripps was a game warden who was responsible for spraying the area to keep the trails clean. The Army won’t admit, however, to spraying outside their testing area, and rely on soil samples taken in 1994 to show how the areas are clean but they likely don’t include all the areas that were sprayed.
Camp Crockett, located in Fort Gordon, Georgia, was used as a training ground in the late 1960’s, which may have resulted in many veterans with disabilities due to Agent Orange exposure.
From January 1967 to the end of December 1969, the Army was using Camp Crockett as a testing ground for Agent Orange, Agent Blue, and Agent White. Helicopters sprayed the toxins all over a 98-acre spread between “Highway 221 on the west and the artillery range to the east.” Pictures were uncovered of soldiers bathing in a stream fed by Leitner Lake, which is “within a 6 to 8 square mile area” of where toxic mists could have drifted.
Dana will be our guest speaker. he is the leader of Point Man Mnstries who do one heck of a lot of things to help Veterans from employment to housing.
Since 1984, when Seattle Police Officer and Vietnam Veteran Bill Landreth noticed he was arresting the same people each night, he discovered most were Vietnam vets like himself that just never seemed to have quite made it home. He began to meet with them in coffee shops and on a regular basis for fellowship and prayer. Soon, Point Man Ministries was conceived and became a staple of the Seattle area. Bills untimely death soon after put the future of Point Man in jeopardy.
However, Chuck Dean, publisher of a Veterans self help newspaper, Reveille, had a vision for the ministry and developed it into a system of small groups across the USA for the purpose of mutual support and fellowship. These groups are known as Outposts. Worldwide there are hundreds of Outposts and Homefront groups serving the families of veterans.
PMIM is run by veterans from all conflicts, nationalities and backgrounds. Although, the primary focus of Point Man has always been to offer spiritual healing from PTSD, Point Man today is involved in group meetings, publishing, hospital visits, conferences, supplying speakers for churches and veteran groups, welcome home projects and community support. Just about any where there are Vets there is a Point Man presence. All services offered by Point Man are free of charge.

Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) are downloadable forms created for Veterans' use in the evaluation process for disability benefits. DBQs will help speed the processing of Veterans' disability compensation and pension claims.
DBQs allow Veterans and Servicemembers to have more control over the disability claims process by giving them the option of visiting a primary care provider in their community, at their expense, instead of completing an evaluation at a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facility. The streamlined forms use check boxes and standardized language so that the disability rating can be made accurately and quickly.

Per DOD: Bottom Line as of May 2015: Per AMC HQ, regarding H.R. 4435 Amendment 15 stating that 100% disabled veterans can fly Space-A, no guidance has been passed down to terminals to allow this. Until the DoD issues a memo incorporating any changes into DoD's Transportation Regulation (DoD 4515.13-R) guidance is passed down, 100% disabled veterans remain ineligible for Space-A.
Lets see if congress will fix this delay.

The basics of the Independent Living Program . The nuts and bolts. What controls it. Why Bill gets a tractor and why Jim gets something to pull his socks up with and a grab bar next to the crapper. This is VR&E 101 for beginners. Most VR&E employees will steadfastly deny it until you point it out. Even then they think it has to have some magic “vocational”-i.e. of or having to do with working, training or preparing to get work- connotation. This is where they lack training. If you only had one copy of the Bible and the guys up at the monastery were in charge of the production of same, you’d have no idea if a chapter was missing. If no one told you, Mr. GS 8 VR&E Intake specialist in Oz , Kansas, that there was a program for the severely disabled that entailed avocational pursuits (read hobbies), you’d be forgiven. When the guys in charge in Wichita tell you there’s no such thing, you have an agency-wide conspiracy to suppress the true scope of a valuable program.
We’re going to learn how they deny. Why they deny. Where all the money goes that ISN’T used for ILP and the scalawag salaries paid for this travesty of justice. As some know, I am appealing my denial for a greenhouse to the BVA. It could just as easily have been a riding lawnmower, a woodworking shop or a photography suite of software and a computer to assemble beautiful graphic video productions on an amateur scale. The actual pastime is immaterial. The pleasure and mental well-being derived from it is the essence of the program, always has been and is now being demolished as “too rich for our blood.”

PAUL G HARCH MD Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy employs pressurized chambers in which the patient undergoes a series of “dives” in pure oxygen at varying depths of pressure, which is measured in atmospheres. Patients usually undergo 5, 1-hour dives each week for 8 weeks in the first round of treatment. After the first round, the physician will determine how many additional dives will be necessary for the patient to achieve the optimal clinical outcome.
Dr. Harch has long been considered a pioneer in hyperbaric medicine research and clinical applications. Author of The Oxygen Revolution, Dr. Harch has written numerous articles on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and has had several writings published in major medical journals. Dr. Harch was responsible for the scientific argument and application to Medicare that resulted in the approval of hyperbaric oxygen treatment of diabetic foot wounds. Based on Dr. Richard Neubauer’s work and in conjunction with Dr. Van Meter he has developed many of the accepted protocols for HBOT in neurological disorders, including chronic traumatic brain injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in our military veterans.

More than 3.4 million veterans with medical conditions or injuries that were incurred or worsened during active-duty service are receiving disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Narrow Eligibility for Veterans' Disability Compensation by Excluding Certain Disabilities Unrelated to Military Duties
Veterans may receive disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for medical conditions or injuries that occurred or worsened during active-duty military service (excluding those resulting from willful misconduct). Disabilities that are deemed to be connected to military service in that sense range widely in severity and type, from the loss of limbs to migraines and treatable hypertension.

Jennifer Mctiernan Yale Law School. Yale has a Veterans Law clinic.
There are approximately 250,000 veterans currently residing in Connecticut, many with acute and unique legal needs related to their military service or return to civilian life. In this clinic, established in 2010, students have represented Connecticut veterans in litigation before administrative agencies and courts, on benefits, discharge upgrade, immigration, and pardon matters. In addition, students represent local and national organizations in non-litigation matters relating to the legal needs of veterans, including regulatory and legislative reform efforts, media advocacy, strategic planning, and other matters.
Clinic students also provide advice and conduct some intake at the New Haven Vet Center, which offers a range of counseling and other services particularly to combat veterans. The clinic makes special efforts to assist vulnerable veteran populations and those least connected to existing service networks, such as women, recently returned, non-citizen, LGBT, and elderly veterans. The seminar portion is a practice-oriented examination of advocacy on behalf of veterans and of social justice lawyering generally.
