Writer and storyteller Tivania Moodley joins us for a deeply moving conversation as part of our 16 Days of Activism campaign. In this episode, Tivania opens up about trauma, healing, and the truth that “the body remembers even when the spirit has healed.”
She shares how survivors can experience love that restores, what emotional safety truly means, why boundaries matter, and how partners can support with empathy instead of judgement.
Whether you’re a survivor, a partner, or someone wanting to better understand trauma, this episode offers compassion, clarity, and hope.
Children may not say anything, but they see everything. In this powerful episode, Childline KZN Director Adeshini Naicker reveals the emotional, behavioural, and long-term impact domestic violence has on children — even when the abuse isn’t directed at them.
She explains the hidden signs adults often overlook, why children internalise fear and guilt, and how communities can protect kids by supporting the parents who need help most.
This is an essential listen during 16 Days of Activism and a reminder that breaking the cycle of violence starts with safeguarding the smallest voices in our homes.
In this powerful conversation, Clinical Psychologist Nozi Nyawose breaks down the real, often misunderstood reasons survivors can’t “just leave.” From trauma bonds and emotional manipulation to financial dependence, isolation, threats, and fear for their children, Nozi explains the complex barriers women navigate long before they can seek help.
She also explores how society unintentionally reinforces shame by asking the wrong question and what a more supportive, life-saving response could look like.
This episode is essential listening for anyone who wants to better support survivors, challenge stigma, and understand the realities of South Africa’s GBV crisis.
Financial abuse is one of the most hidden (and most powerful) forms of control in a relationship. In this episode, Momentum Financial Adviser Jessica Pillay breaks down the subtle signs many women miss, from restricted access to money to deliberate damage to credit and complete financial control.
Jessica explains how abusers use money as a tool of manipulation, how to recognise the red flags early, and what steps survivors can take to regain independence.
A must-listen for anyone wanting to understand the realities of abuse that doesn’t leave bruises.
In a brave and emotional conversation, a KZN survivor shares her deeply personal experience of financial abuse. The kind that doesn’t leave physical scars but slowly strips away independence, safety, and hope.
She opens up about how her partner controlled every rand, how she felt trapped with a young daughter, and what finally helped her break free.
Her story is a powerful reminder that abuse isn’t always visible and that with support, healing and rebuilding are possible.
This episode contains sensitive content and may be triggering for some listeners.
