She was top 10 in the 2017 Women of the World Poetry Slam and has given keynotes and facilitated trainings to over 30 institutions across the country. Her poetry has been published in numerous literary journals. She is the author of Black Souls Dance On Beat (2015) and produced an award-winning, one-woman show called Passport To Womanhood in 2013.
When not performing, speaking, or doing diversity work, Alex's 24/7 job is being mother to a vivacious 3 year old daughter. Her self-care routine includes peanut M & M's, prayer, and sleep. She uses her voice through art as a way to express her views on her lived experience and to speak to the struggles of other oppressed people.
