Jealousy and comparison is not only a negative thing for your gymnasts individually, it can have a real negative impact on your team. This week we talk about why your gymnasts brains constantly go to comparison and jealousy and how to help them with it.
One of the things that gymnasts tell us worry them the most is their fear of disappointing their coaches, parents and teammates with how they do in competition. It drastically affects their ability to enjoy competing and adds so much pressure.
Here is why they are worried and some things that you can do to help them learn how to let go of their worry and start focusing in on their gymnastics. This will help with performance anxiety, mental blocks, fear of falling and competing with confidence.
We want every gymnast and coach to enjoy the journey. We specialize in helping gymnasts and coaches with the mental and emotional side of gymnastics. We have combined proven behavioral science principles with sports psychology to create gymnastics mindset coaching that gets results. Schedule a free intro session where we can coach you or your gymnast right away.

One of the first things we teach a young gymnast is how to fall safely. Because we all know that for sure, a gymnast is going to fall. And so we prepare them for it.
And yet, we (and they) still think something has gone wrong when they actually fall in a meet. Even though ALL gymnasts fall in meets at some point.
Teaching your gymnast that falling is fine is the most effective way to help them hit consistently. Join us as we talk about why and give some ideas for helping your gymnasts adopt this belief. This will help them with performance anxiety, overcoming mental blocks and competeting with confidence.

It can seem in gymnastics, that your gymnasts being tired all the time, sore, without enough energy to get through workout is just how it is. That injuries are just par for the course. But according to our special guest, Kerry Bair with the Gymnast RD, it doesn’t have to be this way. Most gymnasts experience this because they are under fueled. They simply aren’t eating enough. Mental blocks, frustration, being hangry, all are symptoms of your gymnast simply not having enough fuel to do what gymnastics requires of them. Listen in to this incredibly informative conversation to learn more about proper fueling for your gymnast so they can be successful. A well fueled gymnast is a happier, healthier gymnast.

The second pillar of competing with confidence is learning how to deal with your emotions. Competition is full of strong emotions, and knowing how to deal with them - and how not to dread them will help your athlete tremendously in competition. Dealing with performance anxiety, overcoming fears and nerves, and being mentally tough is all about learning how to not just stuff aside emotion, but how to process and deal with them. In this episode, we talk about how to do just that.

We are focusing on building self-confidence this month.
One area to do this is by teaching athletes to trust themselves.
Sometimes we hear gymnasts say they are going for a skill, but then they don't.
This is the opposite of self-confidence.
Learning to trust yourself and do what you say you're going to do isn't always easy.
Listen to our podcast to get some mindset training tips on how to help your gymnast trust themself and continue building their self-confidence in the process.

Change is in the air! We have rebranded to Gymnastics Mindset Academy-- still the same great content that applies to everyone!
We want to continue providing great value that anyone can use, while giving specific examples of how to use our tools to gymnasts and coaches of gymnasts.
Join us this month as we give you some unique views on self-confidence and how to increase your own.
Sometimes, we attach our self-confidence with the results we create.
The truth is, our results do not create our self-confidence. The better we become at separating what happens outside of us from what we create inside of us, the more self-confidence we will feel.
If you want more self-confidence, come see what we are doing at GymnasticsMindsetAcademy.com

Equal Airtime: Your brain naturally looks for anything that could be considered a problem. It does this as a protective mechanism. When you notice yourself focusing on negative options, we want to encourage you to spend just as much time opening up to the other side of the story. It’s possible that there is no problem, that everything is going to work for us better than we could imagine, that we might actually stick that routine or win that medal. It’s possible either side could occur. Give yourself time and space to really open up to positive options without condemning the negative ones. If you find your athletes dropping into a lot of negative self-talk, then we can help.

Interview With Wayne Wright. Today we had the privilege of interviewing Wayne Wright, former San Jose State University Head Coach for the women's gymnastics team. Currently, Wayne works for the 49ers education-community based programs and consults with No Cap Sports.
We discussed some of the fears of coaching in today's culture.
Coaching today becomes a balance of acknowledging the pressure to help a team win, succeed, becoming a coach that doesn't feel that their past will be judged at any given moment with the possibility of losing their job, or wondering if they are meeting the expectations of the parents. Coaching 20 years ago was different than it is today-- and there is a lot to discuss around this topic! We are so grateful Wayne Wright opened up about the nuances of the coaching world today.
If you are a coach who feels confused and hesitant to coach athletes due to all the current situations and "safe sport" regulations, we are here for you. We hear you!

Behind our physical fears are our emotional fears.
We are afraid of what people are going to think, afraid of what we will feel if our fears come true.
This week we learn about dealing with these emotional fears - understanding where they come from and how to deal with them.
Master Your Fear: Today, we focused on fear and why it’s hard to master your fear at times. Here are a few points we discussed to calm that part of your brain down: Your primal brain thinks everything is scary. You need to determine when something truly is unsafe and when it isn't. Speak to your brain in a loving way so it knows it's safe. If you have athletes who don’t know how to manage their fears, then we are here for you! Let us teach you how to help your athletes manage their fears.

Athlete's,
Some of you are starting to go back to practice, while others are still waiting to get back to the field. Wherever you are at at this moment, I want you to stop and ask yourself, what are you doing with your time? When you complete a season, oftentimes, athletes will think they can take a break. You can take a break as well, but do you really want to? The end of a season is the most valuable time to start mentally preparing and intentionally deciding what will happen next season. With extra time on your hands during this pandemic, you can learn to strength those mental tools that usually get pushed to the side. Don't take your athletic time for granted.
Our team is focusing on your teams emotional health. If you are not currently working with a mental strength, we want to invite you to check out Pro Mindset Academy. Simply go to ProMindsetAcademy.com.

Athlete's,
When you say, "I'm just not feelin' it today. I wish I felt more motivated!", then I want you to consider why you want motivation in the first place.
Motivation comes when you are committed to a goal and you like the reason for having that goal. If . you don't really want something, but you want to feel motivated to keep working towards it, then you will feel burned out and overwhelmed quickly.
Be honest with yourself. Know what you want. Then, motivation will come a lot easier for you.

These are all aspects of the overall opinion confident athletes reflect. Enjoy the episode and if you want more confidence, schedule a free session at Flippin Awesome Coaching.com Be Flippin' Awesome
We are talking about the second pillar to self-confidence. Last week we covered the first pillar, that self-confidence is your ability to trust yourself. This week we discuss how self-confidence is also your willingness to feel any emotion including failure, knowing you will not be harmed. See what you can do when you are willing to feel anything. And be sure to schedule your free confidence session at FlippinAwesomeCoaching@gmail.com.
This week we are working on self-confidence. There are many parts to self-confidence, but we are going to break those pieces down to 3 pillars. Pillar #1 is the ability to trust yourself. Trusting yourself is a skill that takes practice and a willingness to act especially when you don't want to.
We all want results, but wanting and committing are very different things. Wanting is passive and yields no results. Committing is active and progresses towards results. Come to our online virtual group of amazing athletes where we learn and apply mental training tools, then get live coaching on any struggles you are facing currently in your sport. A thought is just a thought and never has any power over you.
You can feel liberated from thinking it’s a problem.
Instead of thinking a thought is a problem, you can realize it’s just a neutral situation and you can make a choice from that point about how you want to describe that thought.
Thoughts have no power over you unless you want them to.

Hey Athletes, Today's podcast may seem a bit clunky at first because I was having a conversation with a college coach and half way through our conversation I said, "hey, do you mind if I record the rest of our conversation? All the flipping, the sweat, the ripped hands, and the pain are in hopes of a feeling. What if their experience could be enhanced by learning how to manage all their emotions and generate the ones they want to drive the action they need at any time? If you want to learn how to do this, get on a free session at: FlippinAwesomeCoaching.com

Do you want to know a quick way to stop your dreams in their tracks? Use the phrase, "I don't know"! "I don't know" is a dream stealer and should be considered very carefully! When you respond to any question with 'I don't know', you are essentially saying, "it's not worth figuring out." Instead of allowing your brain the easy way out, ask you brain, "If I did know the answer, then what would it be?" See what happens!

You & Your Heart Beat: If you took everything away from your life, how would you feel? Most people would feel a bit freaked out and maybe a little lost. But, what if all you needed to feel like you were enough is just you and your heart beat. That is it. You are enough. You cannot DO anything to be more valuable than you already are. You are 100% loveable, 100% inherently valuable, and of 100% worth. And that’s enough. http://flippinawesomecoaching.com/
Today we are going to talk about building your confidence from the ground up! Whatever you choose to do is only out of curiosity to see what else you are capable of. Not because you feel like you have to be better or because you think you are not good enough right now. PS: If you want to learn how to apply these tools, go to: http://flippinawesomecoaching.com/
Athletes sometimes are afraid of the unknown. When an athlete feels fear, sometimes they will try to push that feeling away. Doing this actually increases the fear and creates a fear of fear. The intense fear can actually cause athletes to feel out of control. In this episode, we talk about Dr. Siegel's idea of Name It to Tame It. We add something to his brilliant idea to help athletes have a quick tool to feel in control of intense emotions.
Sensations are your direct interaction with the world. They are involuntary and start in the body. Sensations are actually a very small percentage of how we experience the world. Feelings or emotions start in the brain and are a vibration we experience in the body. Feelings are indirect experiences because we are filtering that experience through the filter of our mind. Most of life is experienced through feelings. Find out what I mean in this podcast... If you want help, go to Flippin Awesome Coaching
What if what we think are our problems really are not problems at all? This podcast explains the idea that when you think something is causing your fear or pain or excitement, that is not really what's happening at all. What happens is you have a thought about that situation and that thought is what causes all the emotions. I explain this through a story of jumping into the ocean, not knowing there was a shark underneath me...
After experiencing a Virtual Reality video game, the meaning of challenging my brain took on a whole new level. I created an experience that I had never known before within a few minutes of trying to walk a virtual plank off a skyscraper. Logically, I knew what was happening, but my brain yelled at me to step back into the elevator. I obeyed my brain for a few minutes.
Let’s talk about how to get the results you want in your sport! This podcasts will give you a few ideas on how to get the results you want now!
Episode #3: The CTFAR Model If you haven't yet heard about the CTFAR Model developed by Brooke Castillo, then you are in for an amazingly delicious mental treat. Enjoy the road to endless possibilities as you apply this model in your own life!
Good News/Bad News: So here’s the bad news… You are your biggest obstacle... And here’s the good news...You are your biggest obstacle… Wait what? You are in charge of you so you can change you bc you are in control! Even if you feel out of control! I help athletes learn how to feel in control again as they achieve their goals one step at a time, one tool at a time, and one thought at a time!
There is no situation, skill, person, thing or past that can cause you to feel fear!
The only reason you feel any emotion is because of the thoughts you have about the situation, skill, person, thing, or your past.
