In this episode, we discuss what life was like in an academic all-girls' Christian school. We analyse its ultra-competitive and misogynistic culture and the way it shaped us as students and women.
In this episode, we discuss the Black Lives Matter movement in light of the recent George Floyd tragedy, police brutality in the UK vs HK, and racism in general. This is a very sensitive topic, and we haven’t personally experienced what some black individuals have to live through. However, we hope to share our thoughts and observations about this topic.
In this episode, we introduce ourselves and discuss cultural differences between the UK and Hong Kong. We note how the academic culture is vastly different through areas like parental expectations, class sizes, teaching styles and the prevalence of tutorials in Hong Kong. At the same time, we analyze the different social culture, including taboos and attitudes towards the vices, as well as the Chinese tradition of authority and respect.
