The Come to the Table Podcast: Recent Episodes

Sean McCoy

A handful of questions never seemed to stop hammering away at the mind of host Sean McCoy when many of the issues we face make themselves known. The news, social media, the internet and so on seem to portray a fractured, divided and angry reaction to issues like race, politics, sexuality, religion, gender, economics, health and the like.

Where's the love? the compassion? the desire to feel for our fellow man? Where are my fellow Christians? What are we doing? What aren't we and what should we be doing about these things?

Thus an idea was born to answer those questions by inviting guests from all walks of life to "Come to the Table" and talk about them. Guests are invited and welcomed to The Table not as so called experts with multiple PhD's or a million Instagram followers or people of influence and power but as regular people with valuable stories, perspectives and a desire to have a conversation as well.

It's very easy to dislike, discredit and dismiss someone or a group of people that don't do things like you do. It's much harder to do when you know them personally.

Matthew 7:1-6 7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Come to the Table and lets find a place we can have civil, open and loving conversations around the issues that impact us the most. Silence, ignorance and division are not the answers.

We decided to jump into one of the most divisive topics that dominate so many aspects of our life: Race.

So I invited my friend Jim Sanders to have a conversation. Jim jumped at the chance to have a discussion about this topic and we were proud to have him as our first official guest.

We are very anxious to hear YOUR feedback at our first jump into this and want to hear the good and bad so we can keep doing the right things correctly and correct the things we are not.
