Lois Hollis shifts our opinion on the taboo subject, shame and guilt. She is a shameguilt educator, counselor, filmmaker, author who coined the word shameguilt. Lois has always been a trailblazer as she helped develop one of the first Kidney Hemodialysis Units in the USA at Thomas Jefferson University in 1966. Today she not only shows us why shameguilt has led us to believe we are victims incapable of stellar lives but also HOW to make friends with our inner critic and kick shameguilt out of our lives. Lois was dying at 55 and today at 79, rollerblades with her grandson because she healed from the shameguilt of an abusive childhood. Lois was scarred with brain traumas, broken jaws, heart, liver, illnesses with 30 years of migraine headaches. Her impactful story shows us the immense power we reclaim when we release the shameguilt from our inner self. She has lectured widely, including the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, events, and podcast interviews in 15 countries. Her three books, spirit readings, and films that make shame guilt visible will teach us how and why we need to know the trickery of the shame guilt energy to accomplish our dreams. Sara is a fitness and nutrition coach and has been working at her craft since 2015. Origionally from Connecticut, and in 2012, I moved to the Greater Boston area, where I fell in love with nutrition and fitness. However, fitness/nutrition didn’t always come easy to me. She was an athlete for most of my life, and after graduating college, where she was a collegiate swimmer, she experienced highs and lows with food. Sometimes gaining weight and she wasn’t eating well or exercising. Other times, counted calories, did tons of cardio, and starved. Neither ends of the spectrum were healthy, sustainable, or constructive. These fluctuations lasted about two years before Sarah started the fitness journey you see today. Since 2015, has been learning, experimenting, losing body fat, gaining muscle, becoming much healthier, and coaching people to have a better, healthier relationship with themselves and food. After dealing with the effects of tick-borne Lyme disease for years, Bucks County native James Calcagni was inspired to help others battling their own health struggles.

In February, the Temple University grad founded Liquid Limbs, a prosthetic device company designed to improve mobility for those with lower leg amputations. Dubbed the “Navigator,” Liquid Limbs’ patent-pending prototype consists of a nonslip foot, side handle and shin plate. The goal of the product is to offer stability for people walking or showering without their everyday prosthetic, which often cannot get wet because of the metal materials in them.

So far Liquid Limbs has secured $21,000 in winnings from pitch competitions, including a second-place finish in Temple’s Be Your Own Boss Bowl in April. The CEO of the early stage startup was recently named one of the top innovators in Philadelphia under the age of 25 by Philadelphia Business Journal, and is now looking to secure additional funding to help with the manufacturing and launch costs of the company’s flagship product.

At the age of 5, Lauren was literally thrown into a pool so she would have something to do at her sisters’ swim meets. 17 years later, with a high school state championship and a top 3 finish in the Mid-American Conference, she said goodbye to a successful swimming career. This foundation as a student athlete set the tone for high achievement in the professional world. After 15 years in HR, Lauren received her professional coaching certification from the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) to feed her passion for supporting others in reaching their full potential. She started her business focused on leadership development and career advancement, but while watching the 2020 Olympic games it all changed. As she watched Simon Biles remove herself from competition and Katie Ledecky do everything in her power to hide her disappointment following a lackluster race, she knew who she was called to serve. Athletes. It was validated when Michael Phelps told the world, "Competition is overwhelming. We just want someone to listen to us. Someone to support us mentally through the pressure-filled moments." Karl began his refereeing qualifications in January 2014 and continued to play for Harlequins while gaining experience officiating. This was made possible by the fact he never made the starting XV.

Through the London Society of Referees he made his refereeing debut at the Reigate School 7s in March 2014 and since then has taken charge of a range of matches including schools, club juniors, sevens as well as local and national league clubs.

Karl has refereed two A League semi-finals, Exeter v Newcastle in 2016 and Gloucester v Wasps in 2017 and made his debut in the Greene King IPA Championship in the Christmas Eve match between London Irish and Richmond. Three days later he was involved in Big Game 9 where Harlequins played Gloucester in the Aviva Premiership at Twickenham.

After 169 appearances for Harlequins scrum-half Dickson announced his retirement in April and joins the Rugby Football Union's Professional Game Match Officials Team (PGMOT).

Dickson said:

"Over the last two years any time that I have had - a free Saturday or Sunday or even during the week - I would referee as many games as possible to get as much practice as I could. Every game you learn something new and gain increasing match sharpness.

"I would always encourage players to plan for when they retire and the fact that I’ve been refereeing for three years already puts me in a position where I can look forward to starting with the team next season and, having refereed in a Championship game this year, hopefully officiate more at that level. I wouldn't have this opportunity unless I started when I did."

In an interview to Rugby Players Association, he said refereeing at international level was his "main goal".

A goal reached when in October 2020, Karl was appointed as the main referee in a friendly game between France and Wales, in the Stade de France.

He was also able to study the work of a man Hieronymus who continued research on Scalar Energy. Hieronymus’ major contributions included unbinding the RNA/ DNA bonds of microbes plaguing the agricultural industry (rendering them harmless).

Dr. Gary Mendoza’s background is in personal training. Gary holds both British and American qualifications in personal training and has been a PT for 25 years.

He represented GB at the first ever IDEA personal trainer’s convention in Washington USA.

Whilst working as a personal trainer (PT) he studied nutrition, graduating with a first in Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Wales.

He moved into training trainers and developed a successful nutrition and weight management course; teaching PT’s the skills required to deliver a successful weight management programme. These skills include nutrition, activity and behavior change.

This course formed the basis of his doctoral research. In 2006 he was awarded a PhD in nutrition, specialising in a multi-dimensional treatment for overweight and obese males. A big part of this research looked at the psychology of change. Gary has since undertaken further training in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and was fortunate to be trained by Professors Stephen Rollnick and William Miller, the founders of MI. He has continued training in this field, completing advanced MI training, introduction to counselling and a level 5 diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Gary’s other area of expertise is sports nutrition. He was programme leader for sports nutrition and advanced sports nutrition at Massey University in New Zealand and trained with Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA). Gary lectures in nutrition for sport and exercise at Bath Spa and Cardiff Metropolitan Universities and is an Academic Associate member of the SENr. He is director of ‘Stages of Change Ltd’ and delivers the Behaviour Change Workshop; this workshop teaches personal trainers sound behavior change principals. Gary is passionate about raising the standard of nutrition education and behavior change understanding in the leisure industry.

He wants the industry to move to a more evidence-based style of nutrition and behavior change education and wants trainers to be able to deliver effective and safe nutrition and weight loss programmes that help clients make the necessary lifestyle changes required.

'We believe traditional treatments such as counseling, nutrition, detox, exercise, psychotherapy, and pharmaceuticals have their place in the recovery process. Christine is a serialpreneur and love the rush of business but it took her a while to understand how to manage it all. A healthy business and a flourishing private life didn’t seem possible to her at first.

She is also a mother of a beautiful daughter and of 4 fur babies (3 kitties and 1 cutest ever sausage dog).

"So getting everything organised has been a must each time I left for a few days or even a couple of weeks. And in 2019 that was no less than 15 times . . . So I get it when it comes to organising pick ups, food, homework, pet meds, after school activities, dog walks, etc, etc . . . it can be a lot! Even though I had to cut back thanks to “ the rona” I still traveled for my own pleasure whenever I could. And I’ve got to say I have truly nailed the process. By now, I rarely, if ever, check my phone and I know my team has it handled and I get back without piles of stuff to do whipping all traces of relaxation out of me."

"Finally I want to share my belief with you that we should do our best to live a life worth inspiring others. Whether that is our children or aspiring business owners: self-prioritisation is key for a balanced business and private life and a strong mental health. So instead of being a slave to our business, let’s powerfully grasp the freedom we have in our businesses and demonstrate that by walking the walk . . . now that is being a role model. So I am inviting you to join me in that."

Let me give you a bit of background so that you can see where Regan's passion and love for rugby and fitness came from.

He's been rugby-mad since he was a kid. He played every weekend at any chance he could get, playing for local teams and captaining the Essex U18s.

Unfortunately, his biscuit knees halted his playing career with 3 surgeries by the time he was 17.

During his rehab, he started learning strongman movements and was able to enter strongman competitions. He even got up to Britain’s Strongest Man u90kg before, you guessed it, getting injured again.

Despite these setbacks, his determination and love for training made him want to continue, but this time with a new angle.

With everything he had learnt through rugby, strongman and life, he focussed on helping others achieve their goals.

That’s when his coaching career started. Within 9 months his diary was filled with personal training, group coaching, fitness classes and S&C sessions.

He built a community of like-minded guys all looking to lose weight, feel great, and play better rugby.

He then branched into online coaching, where he found he could help more guys from all around the UK (and further) to achieve their physical and performance goals.

A county standard swimmer as a teenager, Marc had his left leg amputated because of cancer when he was 17. His dream became to simply be the best that he could be and just 18 months after he finished his chemotherapy he was selected to represent Great Britain.

Marc competed internationally as a swimmer for 17 years; winning 12 Paralympic medals from 5 Games and a further 21 from World and European Championships. In the past, he has held world records for 200m, 400m, 1500m Freestyle, as well as being part of the team that held the world record for 4 x 100m Freestyle. Since retiring from swimming in 2004 he has worked for both the BBC and CH4 at the Paralympic Games in Beijing2008, London2012 and Rio2016 and most recently Tokyo2020

When Marc retired from international swimming he embarked on a series of new challenges, including trekking in Nepal, Ecuador and Peru (the Inca Trail) and developing his mountaineering skills.

To date, he has climbed the world’s highest volcano, Cotopaxi in Ecuador, Mont Pelvoux, part of the Massif des Ecrins in France and the 22,200ft Mera Peak in Nepal.

“Whether you succeed or fail to achieve specific goals you have to replace them. Turning my attention to mountaineering after I retired from swimming refocused my energy. In doing this I came to realise that focusing on achieving my potential was both more sustainable and rewarding than obsessing on specific outcomes like winning a Gold medal or summiting a peak.”

But not forgetting in 2005 he wrote Personal Best, a combination of my life story and personal development advice and more recently Beyond The Call

At 14, Ashley was paralyzed in a horrible car wreck that took the life of her father, physically disabled her mother, and injured her younger sister.

That one moment transformed her entire world, but it did not dampen her spirit.

In 2010, Ashley had to have life-or-death surgery for a pressure sore, due to being paralyzed from the car accident , followed by a long recovery of endless bed rest.

Eight of those weeks were spent in a nursing home where she was forced to lay on her back 24/7—to eat, take pills and go to the bathroom.

She wasn't allowed to sit up.

She was confined to a special, medical bed.

Through mindfulness, meditation and appreciation of the present moment, she was able to control her perception and find eternal peace in a stereotypical unpleasant environment.

She is writer, educational speaker and she loves to travel. In 2006, she launched wheelchairtraveling. com as a resource for others with disabilities.

Today about 25,000 people each month visit wheelchairtraveling.com for accessible travel information.

She has tons of travel adventure stories to discuss, including solo trips to Japan and New Zealand and zip lining in Ecuador.

All while paralyzed!!!

Was recently featured on the “POSITIVE EXPOSURES Connects” virtual interview series, the Christopher and Dave Reeve Foundation website, Sandi Klein’s “Conversations With Creative Women”. and The Write Reflection 2021 winter newsletter.

She just finished her first book, "Confined to Align "

Arianna started her career in the USA, playing for university teams, UCLA Bruins, where she was a part of the #1 recruiting class in the nation and then Boston College, where she was female student athlete of the year. In 2008, she moved to Europe, to pursue her dream of becoming a professional player. At the time there was no professional league in the US and Europe was her only option. Her first stop was Sweden, where she played for Danmarks IF, and then off to the land of pizza and pasta, Italy where she played from 2009 to 2014 at Torres Calcio Femminile on the island of Sardinia, where she we won three domestic titles, a Coppa Italia and three Italian Supercups while also playing numerous games in the UEFA Women's Champions League. And getting her first caps with the Italian National Team. During the summer of 2014, she decided she wanted a new challenge and made a quick pit stop in the Netherlands where she joined reigning Dutch Champions, FC Twente before - in January 2015 - making her first foray into French football with AS Saint-Étienne, where she stayed until May 2016. In St Etienne she had the worse thing happen in the best possible place, a season ending injury, which doctors thought would be career ending having torn her ACL, MCL, PCL and both meniscus all at the same time. But after 18 months of intense rehab and a lot of determination she returned triumphantly to the field and returned to Sweden for a second time with Kungsbacka IF before taking on the challenge at another French club, US Saint-Malo in 2017. She currently plays for PARIS SAINT GERMAIN in the French league while also holding a position in the business side leading the women's sponsoring initiative. In 2018 she decided to pursue a promise to her mother of returning to school and getting a masters. She completed a master in Football Business in Switzerland. Which allowed her to become the only player in PSG history to have two contracts with the club one as a player on the women's pro team and a second in the marketing department as Women's Sponsorship Manager. She is one of the only players, if not the only player in Europe to have two contracts within a major club. In the episode, we spoke about:

  • What was it like mentally dealing with 5 injuries all at once?

  • Where do you get your mindset from?

  • What drew you to the game?

  • Why did you pick to play for Italy?

  • How challenging is it for a woman's team to step out of the men's team shadow?

Nathan Jones, aka Mr Bag & Tag – a professional MMA fighter, hard-working athlete and a dedicated martial artist (KickBoxing black belt and Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt).

What got me into martial arts was, I was at a low point in my life, so any attempt to find the happiness I was living my life by the YES MAN philosophy (watch/ read it) – I had a friend that went for a free trial at the gym, so I said yes. I enjoyed the session except being covered in other people’s sweat – but I kept an open mind. When asked if I wanted to join I said yes, when asked if I wanted to compete I said yes, when asked if I wanted to fight… I said when!

I used martial arts to harness my energy and focus. From being bullied at school and attacked on the street – I promised that I would not be a victim again for anybody. I became quicker, stronger and have overcome many obstacles, the main one of overcoming fear (becoming a professional athlete!).

In the episode we discussed:

  • Can you talk to us about the "Yes Man" Philosophy

  • What mindset did you need to get into to achieve your Black Belt in KickBoxing and your Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

  • How do you keep the youth engaged?

  • Do you think martial arts help you keep control in uncontrollable situations?

  • "I'd rather be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war" - Bruce Lee

  • Do you have to put on a different persona walking in the cage?

  • Are you totally locked in after having your hands wrapped?

  • What's it like having your family watching you get hit?

  • Who gave you the nickname Mr Bag & Tag?

Do you practice KO's?

  • Amongst others and this was recorded before all the new lockdown restrictions *

Lex is the best totally blind long and triple jumper in the history of the U.S. Paralympic movement. He is the current world record holder in the long jump, a four-time Paralympic medalist, a three-time long jump world champion, and an 18-time national champion. He is the only totally blind athlete to ever eclipse the 22-foot barrier in the long jump. If you think that any of this came easy, you should think again.

Many of his fellow eight-year-olds could be seen riding bicycles, shooting baskets, or frolicking on nearby playgrounds, but Lex was dealing with a far more challenging opponent. His sight began to slowly fade entirely due to recurrent retina detachments. Ten operations failed to stabilize what little sight he had left. After the final surgery, Lex’s mother Verdina Gillette-Simms, had the difficult task of telling her son he would likely never see again. As painful as this was, she vowed to teach Lex everything he would need to know to be successful in life. Her hard work and love were the foundation for Lex’s accomplishments.

At the age of 19, Lex won his first Paralympic silver medal in the long jump. His achievements at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens, Greece were the culmination of years of hard work and training. Since that time, Lex has solidified himself as a tenacious competitor for Team USA. Each of his athletic performances since that time have resulted in medals with the most recent being gold in the long jump at the 2017 Para Athletics World Championships.

Lex now has his sights set on the 2020 Paralympic Games, and he is currently training and competing to make his fifth consecutive U.S. Paralympic team. There is one goal, and that is to win gold for the United States of America. As an athlete, motivational speaker, and singer song writer, Lex epitomizes the phrase “No Need for Sight When You Have a Vision®”.

Lastly he is also the author of Fly!: Find Your Own Wings And Soar Above Life's Challenges.

In the episode we spoke about:

  • What would you say to people who haven't seen the blind long jump? and how would describe it to them?

  • How much of an influence was your mother on your athletic career?

  • What turned you away from goalball?

Madeleine was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 16 when a tumour was found in her left ankle. She ultimately won her year-long battle with cancer, but not before earning a few battle scars, including the amputation of her left leg.

While studying voice at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, Ruff began penning fan- favourites like “Close the Door” and “Don’t Fall”, the title track to her debut album.

Her experiences during cancer treatment provided the inspiration for another favourite on the album: the emotionally charged “Tell Me Not to Worry”, which she began writing during a fever-ridden drive to the hospital.

As a two-time cancer survivor and amputee, Ruff performs on a high-heeled prosthetic leg that she jokingly refers to as her “Barbie foot.”

Ruff’s confidence, maturity, and sense of humour shine in her songs. The Daily Freeman counted Don’t Fall among the top ten regional albums of 2013. With her follow-up album, Maddy makes one thing clear: whether it’s cancer or dating in New York, she’s Over It.

Maddy is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter with the no-nonsense sass of a true New Yorker. As a Broadway Baby born and raised in Manhattan, Ruff’s musical influences come from all over the proverbial map. Although Ruff has a penchant for rock and roll, it won’t surprise you that she has a background in both jazz and opera as well.

As frontwoman of her band, The Ruff Riders, Ruff draws comparisons to the emotion and beefy musicality of Amy Winehouse and Fiona Apple. Ruff’s old school, bluesy vocals blended with modern writing create a truly unique sound.

Sarah, who was born with fibular hemimelia, was 18 months old when her parents gave doctors the go-ahead to amputate her foot. That decision changed the course of her life. Were it not for that decision, Sarah would not have represented Australia in Para-athletics. She would not have become a Paralympian. She would not have been given all the incredible opportunities that come with being an athlete on the world stage. Sarah says it is the best decision her parents have ever made for her, and is the reason why they are her heroes.

Sarah was nine when she first began to take sport seriously, and after she was gifted her first running blade, she promised herself she would become the best athlete she could be. As it happened, Sarah’s best was reaching the pinnacle event for her sport – the Paralympic Games.

At the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Sarah set an Oceania record of 4.82m to finish sixth in the women’s long jump T44. But impressive as this was, it was not until the following year, at the 2017 World Para-athletics Championships in London, England, when Sarah proved she had become a force to be reckoned with on the world stage, placing fourth in the women’s long jump T44.

At the time of recording in late 2019, Sarah had claimed her first spot on the podium at a World Championships level winning Bronze in the Long Jump.

In the three years since Rio, Sarah has well and truly established herself as a podium athlete, and with the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games just around the corner, she is on the verge of winning her first Paralympic medal.

Alix is a former Welsh rugby union footballer, who played at Number eight or flanker and was captain for the 2009 season at Brive in the French Top 14, having signed from the Llanelli Scarlets in 2008. Popham has also played for Wales, earning 33 caps and not forgetting, he is the founder & CEO of HUB XV.

Before moving up to the full Welsh squad, Popham captained the Wales Under-21 team and played for Wales 'A'. He moved from Leeds Tykes to the Scarlets in the summer of 2005.

During his time at Leeds he helped them win the 2004–05 Powergen Cup, the final of which he started.

He made his international debut for Wales in June 2003 against Australia. He was also capped another three times before being included in Wales' 2003 Rugby World Cup squad. He played two matches during the tournament.

The following season he played in the 2004 Six Nations Championship, as well as being capped against South Africa in June, and against Japan in November. He played two internationals in 2005, and was capped five times in 2006, in the Six Nations, and against Romania in June.

He is well known for his block-busting tackles, including a tackle on Joe Maddock in a Powergen Cup semi-final against Bath in the 2005–06 season. The centre broke through the Llanelli line, and Popham knocked him side-on, knocking the ball out of Maddock's hands in the process. In his next appearance, London Wasps flanker Johnny O'Connor was knocked out after he ran into Popham's chest.

You feel guilty when you don't quite live up to someone else expectations. However, as I did, you don't have to agree with people when they have a road mapped out for you even when they have your best intentions at heart.

For me, that was my aunt and uncle telling me that I should get a 'real job', but I saw a different Avenue, story or whatever you want to call it for myself.

Ok, this was a few years ago when I was started out on my international sporting career. But I did have another family member in my corner, my mother.

I'm paraphrasing now: 'As long as you believe in your goal and strive day in and day out to make that goal a reality, I will support you'

Corey Corpodian is the host of unleash success podcast and author of emotional fitness.

He grew up playing football and basketball in high school. Sports took a back seat while he went to dental school and orthodontic residency.

Later he took that into men’s physique where he won first place in his first competition. After going to nationals he was working towards his pro card when he was diagnosed with skin cancer.

"That really was a life-changing experience. I hit rock bottom and had to find a way to make my life better. After diving deep into personal development I realized that our mindset is the ultimate key to success. But for me it was deeper than just mindset, I applied what I learned from physical fitness to my mind and developed my emotional fitness."

Once he learned emotional fitness within six months he doubled his income while working less, bought his dream beach house, was happier than ever and meant the love of his life.

"Funny when I said I was happier, people didn’t listen, but when I bought the beach house and doubled my income/ they wanted to know how."

So he has written a book about emotional fitness recently and it’s releasing June 20th.

You can learn more about Corey by visiting her website www.unleashsuccess.com and you can connect with him through Instagram.
