Julie is here to introduce you to her Project 100 planner, a tool designed to help maintain daily habits in alignment with long-term goals, especially during the summer when routines often change. The planner was inspired by the Julie's personal experiences and the chaotic year of 2020. The planner aims to provide structure through a 100-day commitment to habit formation and emphasizes the importance of consistent habits year-round.

3 Key Takeaways

  1. The Power of Simple Habits: Consistent daily habits, no matter how small, can significantly impact your overall progress towards your goals. Writing down your goals every day ensures they stay top of mind and promotes disciplined action.

  2. Start Small, Dream Big: The journey of the Project 100 Planner teaches us the value of starting small and messy. Just begin wherever you are, and let the process evolve naturally. Often, the first step is simply acknowledging what small actions can align with your larger vision.

  3. Co-Creation and Community: User feedback has been instrumental in shaping the Project 100 Planner. This collaborative effort highlights the importance of community and shared learning in achieving personal growth and making a tool that is not just personal but universal.

Julie is back with another snack-sized episode to chat about why sticking to a morning routine is helpful for any stage of life. She gets real about her own journey and the perks she's discovered in keeping a consistent morning groove. She believes that having a solid morning plan helps to kick loneliness to the curb and keep your sense of purpose alive.

๐Ÿ”‘ 3 Key Takeaways

  1. Morning routines are foundational: They provide a sense of purpose and structure regardless of parenting status, helping to manage the emotional and energetic changes in an empty house.

  2. The 'Empty Nest' phase needs it most: While one might think they need a morning routine less when the kids are out of the house, Julie argues it's precisely the time you need it most for emotional grounding and maintaining a sense of identity.

  3. Self-care is non-negotiable: Even if you haven't slept properly in days due to parenting demands, a simple morning routine is crucial. Itโ€™s about carving out time for self-care, which enables you to show up for others more effectively.

They chat about how friendships evolve as people age and go over the challenges of making new friends in midlife. They encourage finding communities that offer reciprocity, align with values, and resonate on a personal level.

๐Ÿ”‘ 3 Key Takeaways:

This weekโ€™s episode is with a good friend of mine, Micah Folsom. Many of you may know her from the Beachbody world, but do you really know her?! In this episode, we dive deep into her story to find out why she is the way she is today. From a childhood gymnast (who almost went on to train for the Olympics), to a collegiate athlete, to a new mom at the age 20 living off stipends, to running a photography business (burning the candle at both ends), to finding her true joy in life in the health & fitness industry, to just recently having her 5th child and continuing to grow her health and fitness empire - Micah Folsom is a force!

Not only do we talk about her story, but we dive into parenting and how she stays grounded and centered while raising her 5 kids AND building a 7 figure business. She is always up for โ€˜figuring it outโ€™ and making whatever hand she was dealt, work. She is resourceful, gritty, humble, and has a perspective on life I believe you will find absolutely empowering. I am excited for you to listen in and get to know Micah a little better with me.

As you listen, please tag me on Instagram and let me know what pieces you are tucking into your own toolbox that help you elevate to your best self. I love hearing from you!

Welcome to my conversation with Lisa DiNoto - the owner of Core Memory Candles. Lisa and I just recently met over a conversation about her candles on Instagram, and we instantly knew that we vibed. Show Notes:

[1:55] Intro to Dan

From music pastor to Beachbody coach to gym owner to music teacher to playing in a band, Dan has pivoted many times in his life! When you are an entrepreneur, you learn your strengths and your weaknesses, which has been so helpful through his life experiences.

[10:40] Being Multi-Passionate

We can and have the opportunity to pursue a lot of paths in todayโ€™s world. When youโ€™re following your path towards joy you are going to live a life thatโ€™s worth living, not just a life that you are existing in.

[17:30] The Covid Experience

Dan learned during the last year that he had to go into the depths or the heart of darkness in order to come through into the light. Pre-covid, we had been living in busy mode. Covid has allowed us to slow down, but that has brought us deeper into the depths. Have the courage to face the brokenness.

[22:00] Normalize Mental Health

As we grow up, we are required to take a gym class every day in school. Why donโ€™t we have any education around mental health or stress management?

[27:40] Pivoting to Writing

Dan has started a blog where he set a goal to write 5 days a week. He is interested in writing about normalizing mental health and healing our traumas. Check out Danโ€™s blog here.

[31:10] Authentic Relationships Help to Heal

When we have people around us who we know will love us even in our darkest places, it can help us build a greater sense of confidence so we can move forward in our healing. You learn that you are worthy no matter what is happening in the external world.

[33:05] Discernment

Discern your day. What is truly needed for today? Make the list, but also be present with every moment and be open to letting go of the list. Discern what has greater value moment to moment. Discernment is different from escapism. As you are discerning, what you are doing is moving towards the vision you have for your life in totality. Discernment leads to authenticity.

[45:30] What did you learn in 2020?

Pace. There is a difference between hurry and hustle. There is no grounding in the hurry. When you hustle, you can feel your feet on the pavement.

In today's episode, I'm sharing what I'm learning through personal experience, exploration, and research around the power of the evening.

If we have been friends for any length of time, you've likely heard me speak about the power of the morning routine. I believe it's absolutely magical. Yet the more I dig into the morning routine, the more I believe there's a special moment at the end of the day, a bookend to the morning routine if you will, and that's the evening routine.

I set a 2021 intention to create a more purposeful evening routine and I believe that most of us don't connect the dots strongly enough between our evening routine, our sleep, and our morning / day.

In today's episode, I'm sharing what I'm learning through personal experience, exploration, and research around the power of the evening. I'd love to know what you do in the evening to create good sleep and good mornings!

Today's episode is all about second chances and how powerful they can be in our lives. Life is not meant to be so black and white in a structured box. Let's explore the concept of second chances.

Weโ€™re so quick to write things off, arenโ€™t we? Something happens that leaves us with a bad taste in our mouth and weโ€™re done.

Could be an event, a relationship, a product, or an experience, but we tend to make judgments quickly and give up easily. I get it.

I do the same thing.

A few years ago, I showed up eager to try out a new a cycling class. I was super pumped to give it a go. And the experience turned out to be bad. All kinds of bad. Not even worth talking about bad. So I wrote this company offโ€ฆat least until...I decided to give it a second chance.

Today's episode is all about second chances and how powerful they can be in our lives. Life is not meant to be so black and white in a structured box. There is so much gray area, so many opportunities to color outside the lines!!

Let's explore the concept of second chances and I would LOVE if you shared with me your takeaways after you listen!

Here we are, at the cusp of a new year. โฃWhat a beautiful opportunity to dream bigger and play bigger and LIVE biggerโ€ฆAnd that's what today's episode is all about...dreaming and playing and LIVING BIG.

Here we are, at the cusp of a new year. โฃWhat a beautiful opportunity to dream bigger and play bigger and LIVE biggerโ€ฆbecause weโ€™ve learned in 2020 that time passes. โฃThat comfort zones are comfortable, and not much else. โฃThat plateaus are just jumping-off points for greater stuff in life.

We often want to create all this โ€œstuffโ€ around fitness and health and business and life so that it seems harder than it is and that is โ€˜why we canโ€™t succeedโ€™.โฃโฃThe truth is, ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ชโ€™๐™ง๐™š ๐™จ๐™ข๐™–๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง ๐™ฉ๐™๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™–๐™ฉ. โฃYouโ€™re better than that. โฃYou always have been.

Kindness in a digital space. This idea and thoughts about it have been stewing around in my brain over the last few months - given that we are all in the digital space now more than ever.

I think often the lack of kindness in the digital space comes from the increased accessibility - we can literally get any information any time we want it now, and our attention span is down to nano-seconds. And as I thought about how I feel when I receive certain messages or certain emails, I thought that there must be some simple ways we can create more kindness in the world today, especially virtually. Because after all, if we humans decreased kindness, we humans can INCREASE kindness yes?

So letโ€™s talk about it. On todayโ€™s episode, I have some tips for increasing kindness in the digital space.

Take a listen, and please let me know your takeaways. You know how much I love hearing from you!!

When I was growing up, we had a fake Christmas tree we set up in our basement. Every year my Mom complained about it being in the basement.

She wanted it on the first floor where she could see it every day (understandable) but we had ALWAYS put it in the basement. And the basement was where we had ALWAYS done family Christmas festivities.

Year after year, the tree was set up in the basement.

And every year, she complained about it. The entire holiday season.

In today's episode, I share the rest of this story, along with how we could have solved this issue AND how it's really highlighting a bigger issue in our mindset.

Take a listen and please let me know your takeaways...does this resonate with you? I'd love to know how and why and I'd love to know more of what you want to hear.

What would you find most valuable and how can I better serve you? Message me and tell me all the things.

Happy Healthy Holidays!

In this episode, we dig into how community really is the linchpin of everything and how you can get a powerful tribe in your life too.

โ€œIf you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.โ€ โ€“ African Proverb

...and that is the truth isn't it?? Our healthiest life will ALWAYS include community and if it doesn't right now, chances are we feel off, we feel alone, we feel stagnant, we feel tired and frustrated and we a change.

I felt a lot of that before connecting with this incredible community. Truth is, I didn't know what I needed until I found it...and now, I cannot imagine navigating life - especially 2020 - without my wing women by my side.

The power of our tribe is everything.

We can work out all day long, and at the end of the day, we canNOT outwork nutrition that isn't good. It's not willpower or discipline or a lack of character. It's simply science. Today we dive into nutrition and a hack I learned years ago to stay on track during the holiday season.

The holidays present their own set of stresses, even in this year, which is different from others.

I spent MANY holiday seasons just trying to survive, and that is no way to live.

Once you know better, you do better AND you share, and that's what this episode- and this podcast actually - is all about: sharing what I've learned over a lot of years on this planet, all to help you live your healthiest, best life.

Let's dive into some habits and mindsets I've learned over the past 20 years that have helped make the holiday season magical.

Welcome back - seriously - to my podcast. After a lot of โ€˜kicking tiresโ€™ and putting it off, I finally got a podcast up and running in 2019...well, sort of. I got it up...just not really running.

And here we are in 2020, the strangest most surreal year there ever was and what better moment in time to finally go all in, and actually WORK IT OUT.

Thanks for your patience as I work through my own limiting beliefs and I hope youโ€™ll tune in to new episodes as I share my life and maybe help you work through some of your limiting beliefs, fears, and doubts too. After all, I deeply believe there is greatness inside ALL of us...we just get in our own way.

Why not come together for conversation and maybe a workout and work it out together?
