Beauty with a conscience. Beauty with intention. Beauty with Confidence.

Born in Vancouver and raised in a rural, ocean-side setting just outside the city, Sasha has always been close to nature. Her younger brother and now business partner, Zac, suffered from acute asthma and allergies as a young child. Her mother, a true pioneer in health and wellness at that time, sought out homeopathic remedies to help heal her son. This included co-founding an organic food co-op with several families in the area, as organic food did not yet exist in the grocery stores. Through trial and error, Zac was healed primarily through diet, and went on to compete in sailing in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. This was an amazing accomplishment, especially after the doctors had predicted he would never be able to play sports.

Sasha’s interests fell into design, studying Typography in London and New York. She found herself in Los Angeles in 2006 and spent several years working as a branding executive within the fashion and beauty industries. After moving home to Vancouver for a brief sabbatical, her mother encouraged her to read the ingredient list on her favorite lip balm. Sasha was shocked to discover many of the ingredients were not safe, and it’s something she used daily. The challenge was set – re-create her favorite lip balm so that it would be safe, effective and natural. And so the story of ILIA begins.

If you've ever walked through a parking garage alone late at night then you've probably felt at least a little worried about someone attacking you. Knowing self defense, specifically through Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a way to regain confidence and know that you are capable of defending yourself if God, forbid something were to happen. Brazilian jiu jitsu, is a grappling based martial art that creates an equal playing field between the aggressor and the person being attacked. I was born and raised in Louisiana. Born in New Orleans, and raised in Baton Rouge. Both great cities, each with so much to offer. Mardi Gras, LSU football, Saints football, Cajun food, music and wonderful southern hospitality. Although I’ve been in Texas for 23 years I still consider Louisiana my home.

In 1994 I got a sales rep position selling long distance services business to business. I thought it was the best job ever. This where I cut my teeth and learned to be aggressive. This role gave me the foundation to eventually find my way into the medical device industry, which is where I have spent the majority of my career.

The first part of my career in medical device was spent in sales, which was a blast. I was surrounded by young professionals who wanted to succeed and set the world on fire. After some time in sales I decided that I wanted to explore something different, so I earned a leadership role and became a manager. This is where it started to get real for me. Management is where I really experienced the male component of my career. I was the only woman in management for years. No one could have told me what to expect, because I don’t think anyone really knew. I went in naively thinking that certainly the old tired mores of men vs women had passed us by. Not so.

I went on to become successful, won top awards and poured my heart and soul into my team, but it was a tough road. I learned the behaviors of my male colleagues and engaged in the same for my own survival. I became unemotional, impatient, insensitive and incredibly competitive. I became a DICK.

My hope is that the topics on this website and content of my book will reach each of you and help you find your way to success and stay true to yourself along the way.

To say Kiana loves coconuts would be an understatement. The Kopari co-founder practically grew up on the stuff while being raised on the beaches of Honolulu, Hawaii and spending summers living on a catamaran in Kauai with her Hawaiian surfing legend dad. While most kids spent school breaks at summer camp, Kiana used her spare time collecting wild coconuts from the jungle and using their contents to whip up amateur beauty concoctions.
