Elaine Parke has a life mission of living peacefully and in harmony with the world. She shares the ways we can all do this in her book "The Habits of Unity, 12 Months to a Stronger American... One Citizen at a Time". The 12 is the 12 months, and the focus in November is "Show a Positive Attitude". One way to achieve this is to consider the power behind how life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond or react. We might also consider the idea that 'we make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give'. We have 30 days to practice this in November, and perhaps make healthy year-round habits.

Whether we're at regular work where we sit most of the day, or are working from home and also sitting a lot, she has some simple recommendations. One is that the time we would use for commuting, use for taking a walk these days. Or, we can sonsider taking a break for 5 minutes each hour and doing some simple stretches, and squats, so we keep all our joints in motion. And a great thing for our back, lay on your stomach, arms on the floor/or bed, and arch upward--for just 5 minutes/day. Simple steps for long-term physical health and mobility

Hannie Schaft was killed by Nazis for her work in the Dutch Resistance, just 7 weeks before the war ended. She was just 25, and had been doing her work since she was 19. These Dutch Heroines gathered vital information, provided Jewish children with safe houses, stole identification papers, and bombed railways, along with liquidating the invaders. Sophie carries on this work because she knows we must not forget the past, as well, war continues, and women and children continue to be victimized.

at 6am on Inspirational Women: Emily Wellbourn works with the American Heart Association, Tacoma office. Emily comes to this work via her own experience--suffering a stroke. Emily was just 27 when it happened, 4 years ago. She lived and lives a healthy life style. In fact she was running a race in NY state when her brain was attacked. She didn't know about "FAST" at that time, (face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, time to call 911) and she was experiencing the first 3 things. Fortunately there was medical staff at the race, and Emily received treatment quickly--very important! However she kept running while she was experiencing the symptoms. She feels fortunate to be alive and feels she has important work to do in communicating this message. Stroke and heart attacks combined are the major killer of people in this country. www.heart.org/pugetsound
