I, Jennie Zhang, am 1 of the 7.6 billion humans on this world. I record myself talking so I can unpack my own thoughts and I also love the idea of being able to re-listen to the many conversations I have had with my friends once I have recorded them. You're free to listen to these ideas of existential crisis, society, philosophy, armchair therapy, psychology, mindfulness and whole lot of awakening moments. Welcome.
Anthony and I have had our fair share of dating app experiences and we thought why not sit down and have a chat about our views and perception of these tools that are made so readily available for us in our pocket devices. Limitless options with the swipe of a finger, but has it actually given us more options to find the right person and cultivate meaningful relationships or has it just created a generation where we base the value and worth off shallow factors where people can become easily disposable as we dive right back into the sea of other singletons looking for that ‘special someone’.
Wow nearly an hour long episode on a variety of sub topics that all revolve around the questioning of what normalcy even means. We start of with why PDA is accepted in some countries but not others which then leads us to talking about social media and the effects it possibly has on young people's mental health. But is it social media or is it the individual's perception on what's normal to them in a world where they've been brought up with technology? So many questions and not many answers as Min and I dive into a sociological realm of some of the struggles our generation face with what is considered normal. Zero preparation for such a complicated episode but very raw ideas shared from two Arts graduates. It's been awhile since we've thought about these topics for the both of us so enjoy the chaotic mess of our thoughts and maniacally laugh with us.
Wow oh wow it's been nearly 9 months since I've lasted posted an episode for my podcast! A very quick turbo catch up on what's been going on and what's to come. Apologies for the slight sound quality issue as I haven't recorded in ages and have forgotten how to keep distance from the mic due to excitement. Also this solo recording was way longer than expected so yay? It means I'm getting more comfortable with talking to myself! However, guests will be coming back on soon. Keep your ears opened for the banter coming your way!
We talk about how lockdown 2.0 has affected us which spirals down into a conversation about mental health and happiness. Asking questions on whether individuals are motivated through extrinsic or intrinsic forces and whether it matters if the result is viewed positively according to the status quo. Super chill chat with John as he reminisces over his solo travels particularly in Japan and Malaysia. There were many stories that we wanted to cover but time was limited, tune in for the next one with John where he talks about his near death experience in Vietnam and the journey of self love when dealing with loneliness in a new country.

A super spontaneous drive over to Kirsten's suburb had us parking outside a Malaysian restaurant and bantering about all kinds of things from getting judged to university life and betrayal.

This was supposed to be a draft but who really cares you know? So I guess it's a first draft turned final. Hello and welcome to the opening of something interesting.
