Purity is pretty elusive. The fact is no one has it. We’ve all broken the 7th Commandment or been hurt by others who broke it. But Christ is not ashamed to be one with us.

This commandment demands that we honor our parents regardless of who they are or what type of parent they are. The gospel not only gives good news of free grace to those of us who break this commandment, it also frees us from the need for our parents’ approval. The funny thing about not needing their approval, though, is that we are enabled to honor them through disapproval and disagreement. Enjoy.

In the Third Commandment we’re told not to take God’s name in vain. Total reverence is required for everything God’s name stands for. We can’t afford to attach to every idea or cause we’re a part of. But, God did give us His name to call on and know our relationship to Him.
