Bruce Hoskins
Bruce and Alice have been married for over 24 years and have developed a passion for K (Korean) Dramas! Alice is a stay-at-home wife/mother who has raised four children ages 10 to 29, and Bruce has his Ph.D. in Sociology. Although neither are Korean, both of them have Asian heritage (Bruce is black and Japanese while Alice is Mexican and Filipina) and all of these elements converge to create witty dialogue, character/plot analysis, and deep discussion.
Spoiler Alert: An ensemble of characters try to survive a monster apocalypse. Although Bruce felt it was lacking in plot, he enjoyed the visuals and the chemistry between Ji Soo (band girl) and Jae Hyeon (preacher/sword fighter). Also, the resident badasses, Yi Kyung (firefighter) and Sang Wook (enforcer) were fun to watch throughout the series.
Spoiler Alert: If you watch enough police dramas the plot is fairly predictable, but the chemistry between Ji Woo (female protagonist) and Mu Jin (leader of criminal organization) is off the charts. Bruce especially appreciated how they adapted Ji Woo's fighting style to make it gritty, intense, and most important, realistic.
We need a break! Alice is going to school to become a teacher. Bruce is coaching freshman football and his daughter, Alana, in basketball. We will see you the first of September :)
The Japanese arrested Isaac for being a communist. While Hana is dying, Solomon makes a deal with gangster Yoshii. Lastly, we are given the details of Noah's life as Han Su introduces himself to Noah.

We see a young Han Su as a math tutor for a wealthy US family. Han Su's father steals money from the Yakuza and desperately tries to keep Han Su out of it. The great Kanto earthquake of 1923 happens, which eliminates his chance to go to the US and facilitates his entry into the Yakuza.

Hanna comes back into everyone's life and we find out that she has AIDS. Solomon gets an offer to open up more Pachinko parlors that he might not be able to refuse. Sun Ja gives birth to a son and Han Su relieves his wife of her conjugal duties.
The older Sun Ja returns to Korea to find that her father's grave has been moved. The younger Sun Ja finds that her in-laws went into debt to bring her to Japan, so she sells the watch that Han Su gave her. Solomon gets fired from his job and goes on a search to find Hana.

As Issac prepares to marry Sun Ja, he meets Han Su who sizes him up. The Korean landowner gets cold feet and has a heart-to-heart talk with Solomon. Sun Ja and her mother have a tearful departing, while Han Su looks on from the docks.

This is an amazingly well-written and acted high school zombie movie. Loved how these zombies were much harder to kill than any other zombie and how they were a social critique on bullying. No character is safe in this movie! Some of the deaths are truly heartbreaking. I am still sorting out my feelings on how the zombies adapted but this one seems to be headed towards a second season so they will have to clean up some loose ends in the writing. Overall a must-watch if you are into the zombie genre!

We finally get the back story about why Ji Soo values Mr. Lee so much. As Ki Tae tries to find Min Hee's pimp, Gyu Ri goes to meet the gangster only to find that Ji Soo has taken her place. Mr. Lee escapes the hospital while the bad guys find Gyu Ri.

Ji Soo to the rescue, but wonders what the future holds for him. Gyu Ri goes solo and insinuates that the Banana Karaoke Club is where Min Hee's pimp operates to Ki Tae. The bid showdown between Ki Tae's crew, the gangster crew, and Mr. Lee.

E6 - After her meeting with the police officer, Min Hi is dismissed by Ji Soo and Gyu Ri. After Min Hi and Gyu Ri protect Ji Soo from the bully, Min Hi enlists Ji Soo to try and get her job back. Gangster dude finds out that his girlfriend has used Ji Soo's services and creates a bloody mess.
E7 (45:50) - Gangster dude catches Ji Soo and Mr. Lee winds up in the hospital. As the police question Min Hi, Ji Soo and Gyu Ri negotiate with the gangsters. Min Hi comes clean with her boyfriend, while Gyu Ri explains to Ji Soo the motivation for their new partnership.

The business is up and running again and Ji Soo is showing Gyu Ri the ropes. Gyu Ri puts her own touches on the business model with some successes and failures. The Dean is illegally searching the student's backpacks and Ji Soo stands up for his rights.

Gyu Ri saves the day but now we see more of the controlling relationship that her mother has with Gyu Ri's life. Gyu Ri recruits a failed boy band singer into the business. The female police officer makes a connection to Min Hee and questions her in private.

Ji Soo gets his trap phone stolen. Gye Ri manipulates Ji Soo with his own phone. Gye Ri shows interest in Ji Soo's business by recruiting some new talent.
Episode 3
Ji Soo and Gye Ri hunt down his father to try and get his money back. Gye Ri offers to join Ji Soo hoping to expand his business. After a series of setbacks, Ji Soo let's Gye Ri become his partner.
We find out that Ji Soon is a very unassuming... pimp! Ji Soon, very awkwardly interacts with Gyu Ri, his potential love interest. One of Ji Soon's girls gets into trouble and he has to help her all by himself.

Movie review with SPOILERS!
I watched this and was spellbound with how this short series (6 episodes) challenges the institution of religion. This series starts with "demons" chasing down someone and pummeling them to death. We later find out that each person that meets this fate had a previous vision predicting their death and more importantly, that they will be sent to hell. The bulk of the storyline focuses on how a new religion, the New Truth, forms from these events, the creation of doctrine, and what this organization will do in order to protect its "truths".

Any movie that can make Alice and I both laugh and cry is worth watching, and this movie did exactly that! Miss Granny is about a 74-year-old woman that is magically transformed to look like her 20-year-old self, but she still has all of her memories and abilities. Alice loved Na Moon Hee (Dear My Friends) as the older woman and Kyung Shim (Sunny) absolutely killed the role of the young Oh Do Ri. The cameo of Kim Soo Hyun (It's Ok To Not Be Ok, My Love from the Star) is priceless :)

This movie focuses on the woman that we see at the end of the second season of Kingdom and is the prequel (not a continuation) to the Kingdom series. This movie gives the full backstory, and more importantly, the motivation for Ashin to start a zombie apocalypse. This movie is riveting, the cinematography is spectacular, and the plot is completely believable.

E12 (36:33) - The relationship between the Chairmen Baek and Nan Do's mom is revealed. Nan Do and Holo fight to protect Sonja. Holo's fate is determined.
Dale (Dae-oh) shoulders all of the responsibility for what is going wrong with the production of the movie. Drastic decisions are being made to help AJ (Ae-jung) realize her dreams. Hopeful couples are hinted at throughout the ending!

E13 - Honey (Ha-nee), AJ (Ae-jung) and Dale (Dae-oh) have it out in the parking lot! Honey and Eugene (Ryu-jin) visit the university where the three of them became friends. Pa Do receives a threatening phone call.

E 12 (49:30) - Dale reflects back to why he took a leave of absence from college. Eugene figures out who was behind the tabloid rumors. Dale takes a stand at Honey's (Ha-nee) school.
E5 - Sonja (So-yeon) can see Nan Do's (the Creator) face! The investors in Gio put pressure on Yoo Jin (the sister) to launch the program. Nan Do reveals himself to the investors.
E6 (32:54) - The police are investigating Nan Do. Sonja yearns for physical contact with Holo. Holo glitches out and disappears!

E 9 - On the island, we get to know a lot more about the main characters. The emotions between Dale (Dae-oh) and AJ (Ae-jung) continue to deepen. AJ decides to talk to Dale about her feelings.
E10 (42:38) - AJ finally tells Dale about why she broke up with him. Jennifer (the Agent) investigation causes Eugene (Ryu-jin) to make a tough decision. We get more backstory on Pa Do (the Gangster) and Dong Chan (the son)
E3 - Nan Do (the Creator) thinks that Holo is defective. Nan Do interacts with Sonja (So Yeon) to try and figure out her relationship with Holo. Lastly, Nan Do and Sonja have a past connection revealed.
E4 (36:20) - Sonja is distancing herself from Holo. The police discover Nan Do but cannot identify him. Magic Mirror abducts Sonja!
E7 - Eugene (Ryu Jin the Actor) feelings intensify around Honey (Han-nee the daughter) and AJ (Ae-jung). Pa Do (the Gangster) gets involved at Dong Chan's (the Gangster's son) school. Dale (Dae-oh) presses AJ for answers.
E8 (45;32) - Eugene's feelings take center stage. AJ may be in physical danger. Dale goes "all in" with AJ.
E1 - A company (Gio) creates a hologram with artificial intelligence (AI) and a rival group promptly tries to steal it. The Holo program falls into the hands of an unsuspecting Sonja (So Yeon). Nan Do (the Creator) tries to take the Holo glasses away from Sonja.
E2 (35:49) - Holo seems to be developing a connection with Sonja. Nan Do is introduced to us. A chase scene results in Nan Do inadvertently putting Sonja in danger.
E5 - Eugene the Actor (Ryu Jin) is getting emotionally entangled in the lives of Honey the daughter and AJ (Ae Jung). Pa Do the Gangster, Dale the Author, and Eugene are forming a bond around taking responsibility for AJ. We are introduced to Irene the Actress (Ah Rin).
E6 (45:46) - We have it confirmed that Yeon Woo the Teacher is NOT the father. We find out that Irene liked Dale back in his college days. Dale finally confesses his true feelings for AJ at the Cheonmyeong Party.

E2 (31:41): Yeon-woo the Teacher is from a wealthy family. Dale finds out that Angel was a single mother over the past 14 years. Eugene the Actor (Ryu Jin) and Angel have some more college history revealed.
E1 - Angel (Ae-Jung) is a hardworking single mom with a daughter that struggles with not having a father in her life. Angel has to deal with the Gangster (Pa Do) because her boss leaves her responsible for a ton of debt. All four romantic interests (The Gangster, The Teacher, The Actor, and the Author) are introduced in the first episode... oh my!
E2 (32:42) - We find out that Angel and Dale (Dae-Oh) the Author dated each other in college, the Gangster (Pa Do) has a heart, and that the Teacher (Yeon Woo) may be Honey's (the daughter) father!
The King and Capt. Jo go back in time and make the flute whole but they change the timeline. However, the King still finds a way to make it back to our Lieutenant!
