The kingdoms of the world could hardly be more different than the kingdom Jesus has in mind. His cannot be reduced to a Roman or Jewish or Christian kind of kingdom. Nor is it enough to say that God’s kingdom is opposite of ours; it has to be “more than”. More than a “place”, God’s Kingdom is an embodied reality. What does it look and sound like in this world? Have a look at Jesus! Listen to Him!

Jesus promises, and invites us to actively wait for, a world in which justice will not be a crude compromise bought by those with enough money to afford it, but in which new life will rise out of the ashes of crushed hopes and dreams.
Zacchaeus knows that redemption from sin is not consummated through tearful confession in a worship service. The redeemed are transformed by the presence of Christ to live lives that include things like personal and systemic justice-making
When we size up others with the assumption that our faith, our religiosity, our spirituality is somehow better than theirs, we have abandoned our faith in God and our need for Christ, substituting for them, self-justification

This week we observe All Saints Sunday, remembering loved ones who have passed from this life. The message will be based on the shortest verse in the Bible: "Jesus wept." Jesus understands and stands with us in our grief.
The story of Ruth and her Mother-in-law, Naomi is a story about true, steadfast love. It acts as a foreshadowing of the love of Christ, demonstrated on the cross.
Jesus was willing to pay "whatever the cost" to bring God's kingdom into the world. Then he had the gall to ask us if we're willing to pay "whatever the cost" as well. Well, are you? Drinking from Jesus’ cup means you’re willing to pay a price no one else is willing to pay. Drinking from Jesus’ cup means you’re willing to make hard decisions no one else will make. Drinking from Jesus’ cup means you’re willing to give more than you expect to get
Wealth is Dangerous when we overvalue things and undervalue people. Wealth is dangerous when we see our possessions as an end instead of a means. Wealth is dangerous when we print "In God We Trust" on our money but really put our trust in our money.
Many people bounce from church to church looking for self-fulfillment. But Jesus tells us that self-denial is the path to self-fulfillment. That's hard work. But it is the work of a true disciple
There is great temptation in our society to strive to be # 1 according to how Culture Defines Greatness. According to Jesus, the first rule of greatness is going where The Great One would go. The second rule of Greatness is that Greatness is not about you. It's about God working through you.

"The FOOL says, 'There is no God." (Ps. 14:1) If ever there was a time when we need to put away our foolishness and live as wise human beings, it is now. We will all be glad we did.
Have you ever gone someplace expecting something good, but what you experienced was even better? That's what happened with the folks following Jesus.
The human tendency is to treat others, especially when we disagree with them, with disdain, animosity and ugliness. The God way is to treat others, even when we disagree with love, respect, bringing joy into their lives. We are called to walk in "The Way of Love”
The story of Jesus feeding the multitude reminds us to take time to sit and take in the spirit of God, enjoy the abundance of God's bounty, and generously give to others. Eat, Pray, Love We receive God’s blessing when we sit down We need to receive what Christ has to offer us. What God has given us, we should share with others.
We are blessed to have been chosen We are blessed to be forgiven We are blessed that we are not trapped by our past.

Weakness becomes strength if it causes us to grow. Weakness becomes strength if it causes us to give our best. Weakness becomes strength if it helps us change the course of our life. Weakness becomes strength when it reminds us of our dependence on God.

No one is immune from facing difficult situations in our lives. We all have our own "storms" we must face. Just remember, God suffers with us and God's presence can give us courage.
If there was one sin that got under Jesus' skin, it was the sin of hypocrisy. We all have a bit of hypocrisy in us. The only way we can defeat it is by moving our faith from our lips to our lives.

The very essence of the Christian Faith is love--Love for God and love for others. That love is lived out in what we say and do. Love should be our identifying character.
Faith is not so much about sitting around contemplating the goodness of God, as it is about prodding you from your place of comfort to engage the world with God's goodness. Faith is moving. Faith is dynamic, forward looking. People like Abraham are achievers. The greatest acts of faith involve our relationship with others. An act of faith requires a leap of faith
Jesus' disciple, Thomas, is one of the most famous "Doubters" in history. But the truth is that we all have our doubts from time to time. God understands that. And in my opinion, the struggle can lead to a stronger, more mature faith. Many of us can identify with Doubting Thomas There comes a time when we move from doubts to faith. Christian faith can only be analyzed from the inside.
Sometimes, like Jesus' disciples after his crucifixion, we stand helplessly, hopelessly staring into the darkness. Jesus' resurrection gives hope to the darkest of situations. There was a sense of hopelessness among those who followed Jesus after the crucifixion. Help is closer than we think. The victory of Easter is available to anyone.
Sunday begins Holy Week with Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. All seems festive and celebratory. But Jesus knows what is coming later in the week. Let's observe this important time together. The expectation of the crowd on palm Sunday was misguided. God is still at work, even when we can’t see God. It is our job to make God visible to the world.
We would like to see Jesus because something is missing in our lives We want to see Jesus because of the Peace that Christ Brings. Jesus came to show us that we can live with God.
There are times when Christians should get angry. Christ’s example teaches that there is a time for action. Unresolved anger is a spiritual problem

One of the major struggles of our society is coping with the fact that we are a diverse people. But God has told us that we are all God's children. We should be better at loving our family. We live in a remarkably diverse world. If God created all this diversity, it must be good. As God-followers, we must celebrate diversity and love our sisters and brothers who are different from us.
Our Salvation is a mystery which none of us is capable of fully understanding. But one thing is clear from the scriptures; it has something to do with Christ's death on the cross
Nazareth deserves its poor reputation Even Jesus didn’t please everybody Jesus stayed true to his values Something wonderfully good came from Nazareth
Sometimes the teachings of Christ are hard for us to accept and follow. As followers of Christ, we are called to stand up for our principles and values, even when it gets us into trouble.
We are ambassadors of God’s Hope Our Lives changed from goal oriented to purpose oriented We are to share the good news of God’s kingdom.
Baptism signifies that we have a place in the family of God. Baptism signifies that our sins are forgiven. Baptism Signifies that it is never too late to start over.

Mary was obedient to God. God works through the least and lowest of people and places Christmas is the celebration of God’s greatest Gift---God’s Son.
We ponder Mary's response to the news that she would be the mother of God's Son on earth.
Main Points: John was a man of great humility John was a man of great courage John was determined to shine the light on Christ.
Main Points: Paul was thankful for the faith and love of his fellow Christians. Paul put his thankfulness in action by praying for the church. Paul reminded his fellow Christians that the greatest reason to be thankful is their salvation through Christ.
The Religious leaders set the wrong example. They lacked humility. Their hypocrisy was even worse than their lack of humility. Jesus was disturbed by their hardness of heart.
In this service we remember the departed saints who have impacted our lives, and inspired us to be better people.
Love for God and Love for neighbor has to come before everything else, or the law has no purpose. If we love God, our lives will be aligned with God’s character and will. The best way to show our love to God is to love our neighbor.
Giving is the ultimate sign that we trust God. Giving is the ultimate opportunity to have an impact on the world. Giving is the ultimate pathway to joy.
Too often we live our lives pursuing goals that we think are worthwhile and meaningful, only to find out that they're not. Sometimes we need to reassess our goals in light of God's goals so we can better serve God.
Some respond like an unbeliever. Some respond enthusiastically and fall off Some get distracted by other matters. The Good Dirt is made up of those who go all in. Farmers will tell you that some dirt will produce a bountiful crop. Some dirt won't. It turns out that is true for God's message to us. Some of us are receptive. Some aren't.
Main Points: Often the worst murmurers are those who have nothing to complain about. We cure our complaining by: Confessing our pettiness. Acknowledge God’s provision. Finding God’s purpose for our lives.
Anywhere there are humans there is disagreements, arguments and war. Jesus wanted his church to be unified. Unity is important because the church meets a need that no other organization can meet. Where will faith be found without the church There is so much dividing us in our world today. But it is God's will that we be Unified. That doesn't mean we all think alike, act alike, vote alike. It means that we all love alike. Join us to learn more.
Jesus calls his followers out to be a light to the world. He wants us to establish a community of love which will be an example to all. Then, we are sent back out into the world to invite others to join the community of love. Jesus calls us to be a light to the world. Jesus Calls us to be a community of love. Jesus calls us to reach out to those who do not know him
With so much bad news surrounding us, it is easy for us to become mired in hopelessness. But the Christian Faith is all about hope Hope is not the same as blind optimism. When we’re hopeful we persist in the midst of struggle. God is our ultimate source of hope.

Many look at frightened, confused people with scorn. Jesus looks upon them with compassion. We go into the fields because of our compassion One problem with expressing compassion is that many of us have never really needed help ourselves.

Inability to control anger hurts those closest to us. We need to follow God’s example to be compassionate, forgiving and loving to one another.

Can you really live a terrible life, wait till the last minute, then ask forgiveness and be received into the kingdom as if you'd lived the life of a saint? To ask that question implies that we'd rather live a life of sin. What would you change about your life if you knew there was no heaven or hell? If God rejoices over one lost sheep, coin, boy---shouldn't we? God's primary passion is to save people--whenever it happens.
