It may come as no surprise that we feel quite comfortable with this kind of online appearance, one that places the music rather than the person behind it at the forefront. For that reason, we’ll limit ourselves here to describing what we heard during our research: 水 demonstrates—both in numerous original productions and in mixes—that genre boundaries, even if there is a clear penchant for jungle and drumfunk, seem to play no central role. In the first lockdown two well-known artists of the dark and jungle drum and bass scene started a collaboration to work on a new sound. So the project Aikanã was born. They have already released music on labels like @kurnugu and @zod-dnb. But until now the real identities behind Akainã are unknown. In our podcast number 124 Hórnbęrg underlines this wind of change musically. In a fascinating way he draws sound pictures of falling leaves, skin reproduction, sunny clouds, shaky grounds. A vibe of something new. Born and raised at the Baltic Sea area, Hórnbęrg moved to Berlin where he devoted himself to music. He started a podcast series named Gramofonowa., acted closely together with STAUB, Intergalactic Research Institute For Sound or Art Bei Ton and worked at the JustMusic Store Berlin. As a DJ he is a true record digger and is equally comfortable playing bizarre, left-field sounds and ambient as he is in the field of techno. He developed his ear within the rich cultural context the city of Berlin provides. Now after 20 years back in Rostock he doesn’t think about leaning back. He is the Co-Host of Kyr, a monthly ambient series of Callshop Radio and is always on the go to spread the big facets of electronic music.

DJ DVB was born in Tenerife and is now settled in Dresden (Germany) where he paints the city red with his own chosen family the Miami Weißeritz Crew. From this home base he is spreading his music all over Germany from “Miami Dahlen” over “La Dolce Döbern” to the “Promenadendeck” in Berlin. With his seemingly endless musical facets he has also won the DAVE-Festival DJ-Contest in 2020 and is since then a well-known and vivid part of our local scene.
