Oh hey everyone! Remember us? Well we're back for the first time in nearly two years to bring back your favourite three Olympic podcast hosts to chat everything about the recent announcement of the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and try and get caught up on everything else that we have missed since we last spoke! Do the boys agree with the decision to postpone the games? Do they feel our favourite Count Dracula impersonator Thomas Bach should stay as President or is his time done? Just when will the games be held? Will it be weird to potentially have a Summer and Winter Olympics within only a few months of each other like it used to be 30 years ago? Which athletes do they think this will help now that they have extra time to try and train? What will it mean for our TV viewing in a few months? And why does this mean that the Hobart 2020 Olympic Bid might all of a sudden be back on the table? There is so much to discuss and catch up on as your favourite Olympic podcast returns with a bang!
We are ALL back to talk about the final days of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Ben gives us more first hand experiences from his work at the Boxing events, while Jarrod tells us all about the extensive 2 hours of coverage he managed to see over the course of 11 days. Meanwhile Colin has mostly positive things to say about Canada's exclusive coverage from the DAZN (Da-Zone) app, including the CBC network deciding to throw a few time slots in there. Why are Australians so down on the Closing Ceremonies? What does Ben have to say about being one of approximately 13 people to attend the Closing Ceremonies in person (not including a slew of Australian Idol and X-Factor contestants). Why do Australians get so defensive over trash talking the Campbell Sisters? Why do Canadians love Taylor Ruck and Erica Wiebe so much? Why should nobody touch Callum Hawkins when he goes down in the Marathon? Why should you never change the channel to Badminton at the 2:03:00 mark of a Marathon? And why how close (or far) did we all come in our medal tally predictions? It's a jam packed wrap up of the Commonwealth Games that will make all of the Commonwealth tweet out #TheseAreOurOlympics
We are back, and coming to you live from the Gold Coast.... well, at least one of us is. Ben takes time out of his busy day working the Boxing venue to tell us all about his experiences behind the scenes of working the Commonwealth Games. Who will come out on top between the Aussies and Canadians in the pool? Which boxer could fist bump Ben to the ground? Which Canadian commentator just cuts in and out of coverage as he pleases? What was the giant inflatable whale like up close at dress rehearsals? What is DAZN and why is it not carrying Netball? Why is Colin demanding Olympic success from his 2 year old son? And how many places in Queensland can one run into Tom Daley? It's the on the scene podcast coverage of the Commonwealth Games that will make you scream Jai Ho!
We've barely been gone a month and already we're back on your airwaves as we get excited to cover our very first Commonwealth Games in the lead up to the biggest sporting event in Australia this decade, the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast! Just how excited are Ben, Jarrod & Colin for the games? Does Canada even give two hoots that they're on? Will Jarrod be driving 8 hours to the Gold Coast to watch them? Tune in and get excited for the best multi-sport event featuring lawn bowls and netball!
Well all good things must come to an end and sadly PyeongChang 2018 is over. But does that mean we're going to stop and not bring you our review and recap of the final day and closing ceremony? Is Thomas Bach still speaking? Why is Ben now besties with Edwina Bartholomew? And where do these games rank in the minds of your beloved trio of hosts? It's time to listen, extinguish the flame and get the tissues out as we close out the games of the 23rd winter Olympiad in style!
The penultimate day is here and it's time to make sure you're updated and fulfilled as we declare it the games of Ester Ledecka and Canadian bronze with day 15 of PyeongChang 2018. Why is it such a big deal for Canada to break the bronze drought in Men's Ice Hockey and eclipse the fortune of the great Grenoble 68 side? Why is it such a big deal for Canadian's to break the car robbery drought and create a new Ryan Lochte? Are squirrels that scary that snowboarders should run them over? Can Jarrod try and explain to us the rules of mass start speed skating? And why has Australia just packed up and gone home? Listen in, get educated and excited as another episode comes through your ears!
We're so close to the end that we're nearly going to cry and there is a lot of crying today especially if you're Canadian so we try to make sure your tears are wiped away in the best possible way. Just how on earth did Canada lose to Germany in ice hockey? Just how on earth did Canada lose to Switzerland in curling? Just how on earth is it deemed a failure for Canada despite the fact they won a medal of every colour on day 14? How on earth is channel 7 even in Korea still when they are so focused on the Commonwealth Games already? And do you think Roger Federer would be a fan of our show if we were Swiss? So much to answer, so little time for you to click download!

As we hide our shock factor at this amazing feat, Ben, Jarrod & Colin go over all the other stuff that needs to be talked about so that we don't get too kiwi at this point of the games. Why is American Cross-Country skiing the next big thing for our American friends? Why is Canada disappointed they won a bronze? Why is Australia disappointed in the entire team? And how hard is it for a slalom racer to actually go around the first gate? All of those and more to be discussed as we still try and work out how New Zealand did what they did...or dud what they dud...

Why are Canadian speed skaters such good artists? And how do we know that Lydia Lassila could be competing at the 2024 Olympics? Click away to listen away and get your daily Olympic fix!
It was a golden day for Canada and a day for Australia but that doesn't change Ben & Jarrod coming back on air to recap all the exciting action that was day 10 of PyeongChang 2018! Have the guys gotten over the David Morris robbing? How amazing was the Bobsleigh? How much of a let down was the big air? Is the 500m speed skating the most exciting speed skating event? Did the Norwegian party pants make a return today? Is Elizabeth Swaney the new star of the games? And will the fan messages get published today? It's all there to be listened to so click away and get excited!
It's time to finally bring back a Canadian perspective (given they're wining medals and Australia isn't) and get ourselves worked up over some terrible judging as we recap the 9th day of PyeongChang 2018. Just how much bullshit was coming from the judging of the men's aerials and why is David Morris just such an awesome human for taking it so well? Has Colin recovered from basically being dead and can he survive long enough to survive so much alpine skiing being shown? Can bobsledders actually draw and why do we need to tweet them to work out what it is they're drawing? And how excited is Jarrod about the Norwegian curling team and their pants? It's clicking away and no replays away with another episode of your favourite Olympic podcast!
As we reach the half way point of the 2018 Winter Olympics it's time to go over another day without any medals (at least for Australia) and at least make it super entertaining for you yet again! Why are Liechtenstein and Spain the star countries of these games? And seriously, WHY IS DAVID MORRIS SO AWESOME?!?! You'll have to tune in and find out all the news and more with another amazing and OLYMPIC episode!
We launch full face into a new daily review of PyeongChang 2018 and sadly for both countries involved there are no medals to talk about but that doesn't mean we still can't have some fun and excitement along the way! Jarrod comes in fresh with some research about just how having a Swisse ad campaign actually hurts your chances of success in an Olympics. There is also talk about why Australia should be better in long-track speed skating, why the athletes Channel 7 doesn't care about do better, why we need to interview people who do doubles luge and some of the funniest fan messages you'll hear from the Australian Olympic Team website. Click away and listen away to another exciting day!
Another day, another medal for Australia (and a few for Canada too) as Ben & Jarrod return to give their take on another entertaining day of the Olympics! Just why does it matter that Jarryd and Chumpy don't get along? Why does Lydia need to stop apologising and realise how awesome and amazing she is? Why is it sad that Jacqui Cooper isn't being appreciated more as a commentator? Why is the luge relay perhaps the greatest sport that has ever existed? And can we finally break the 3 medal hoodoo and end up with our 4th medal? It's all here and more on our special CHUMPY & LYDIA day!
It's a bronzed day here on Off The Podium as we get excited for another medal for Australia and a day we can officially say we beat Canada in! So disappointed are Canada with their lack of medals that they apparently didn't want to be represented on this episode which means more love for Australia! It also means more hate for Channel 7 and how bad their coverage is, more love for doubles luge, more love for Nordic combined and more love for what could quite possibly be 'Chumpy day' when we next do this episode. So get listening and get on top of your best friend and sled your way through a bronzed episode!
After the silver success of day 3 for Australia and the gold success for Canada can it be repeated with a podcast of the same quality? Well for Canada sure, but we can faceplant like an Aussie snowboarder to make your day even better! There is also talk about Australians including just whether or not Scotty James can be the next Campbell sister, as well as discussing why PyeongChang has trouble coming up with a good logo and motto and find out why we might've killed a luge athlete by the time you listen to this episode.
It's a glorious day to be a fan from either Canada or Australia as it's all about GOLD and SILVER for both nations on a medallistic day that will go down in history! Ben & Jarrod are joined by Mallory again to get all Matt Graham excited, as well as Team Canada excited and twizzle their way through the news of the day. We also try and work out why everyone at the Winter Olympics are all so much happier than the Summer Olympics, why these games make us dislike the Campbell sisters even more, talk up just how great curling is and wish all sports were like it and find out if Mallory actually knows anything about Canada. It's all available to click yourself into gear so wrap that silver around your neck and ski ski ski faster than Harry Laidlaw!
It's another day of the 2018 Winter Olympics and what better way to kick off our coverage than with some epic commentary of the Women's Moguls final to go alongside with all the news of the day?! With Mallory returning, you know we're in for a fun (and long) episode, featuring some (sort of) golden moments for New Zealand, a day of medals for Canada, more bloody medals for Norway and a first ever medal for a 12 year old kid. There is also some exciting Canadian profiles to be heard, more Aussie athlete fan messages (featuring extra schnitzel) and more laughter than you can poke a before and after picture at! It has it all, so make sure you get into it and mogul mogul mogul it all the way down!
The first day of competition is complete for the 2018 PyeongChang games and what a day we have had! If you're Australian it's been filled with endless coverage and replays of the moguls, if you're Canadian you're actually getting to see the games! There has also been some excitement for New Zealand with it soon set to be a national holiday in recognition of the great Carlos Garcia Knight. There has also been some late nights for Jarrod & Ben with the epic ski jumping being exciting when it really shouldn't be. We also get excited over pink guns with ponies on it, that great TV show 'Games of Throne' as well as trying to work out why the Koreans aren't going to the events, decoding why Channel 7 really sucks at covering the Olympics and working out if the Moguls are more important than 'My Kitchen Rules'. It's all in another days work for us here on Off The Podium!
THE GAMES ARE HERE! It's time to get excited as the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics have started and your favourite Olympics podcast is here to give you it's take on the opening ceremony! Just how bad were Channel 7 in covering the event? What was with all the outfits? Did the cauldron look like a giant space penis? How good was the traditional Korean song of 'Imagine' performed by out of tune buskers? Why was everything pre-recorded? Why did we have to add another Canadian to the episode to balance it out? Have we found our winter Ryan Lochte already? Why do Canadian skiers poo themselves? And can any of our fan messages actually get published on the AOC website? It's all here and more in our epic recap of the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics!
