Far too often, female founders are sold a linear path to freedom that does not exist. Instagram would have you believe that business growth is like a hockey stick rather than the reality that it’s more like a roller coaster.
This leaves many purpose-led female founders wondering:
No one’s talking about or teaching female founders how to ride the reality of the rollercoaster. No one shows you how to set up the foundations to create freedom in your business and life in an integrated and realistic way.
It’s for all of these reasons that I’ve created Steps to Freedom, my brand-new campaign.
In this episode of the Hacking Happy Podcast, I want to explore the concept of freedom, what it means to you and how Steps to Freedom can help you make it happen without the BS.

Ever wanted to become an expert?
Ever considered the fact that every expert was once a beginner?
I’m constantly asked how I became an expert in my field.
What clients and prospective clients really want to know is what credentials they should pursue in order to progress the purpose led work they seek to do and the impact they seek to have.
I decided I’d answer this question in this week's podcast because credentials for impact, growth and income is a pretty fascinating topic, not to mention a helpful one.
In this episode, we’ll explore…

The neuroscience of motherhood.
Have you ever suffered from a baby's brain or questioned how your brain has changed since becoming a mother?
If the answer is yes, it’s time to meet Dr Sarah McKay.
Sarah is a globally acclaimed neuroscientist and the author of The Women's Brain Book—The Neuroscience of Health, Hormones and Happiness, and Baby Brain—the surprising neuroscience of how pregnancy and motherhood sculpt our brains and change our minds (for the better).
In this thought-provoking conversation, Sarah shifts the deficit perspective we so often hear about how women’s brains turn to mush after giving birth to how our brains actually become meaner, leaner and more efficient.

This month, I’m celebrating nine years in my own business.
Nine years as a Lifestylepreneur, and I want to celebrate this moment with you because far too often, I see purpose-led women in business losing heart and motivation because they’re focusing on all the things that aren’t working rather than acknowledging the progress they’ve made.
This week’s episode of the Hacking Happy podcast is Part 2 in the Lessons of a Lifestylpreneur series, a reflective podcast series designed to empower you to acknowledge the progress you're making when doing hard things so that you can stay the course. The win is in the long and consistent game, so I’ve learned.

Have you ever considered how much real estate in your brain is consumed by the attachments you hold? Attachment is our way of trying to control uncertainty which let’s face it is impossible in a world where uncertainty is the only certainty.
Attachment gives away our power, our energy and our precious present time to overthinking.
That’s why in this week’s episode I’m sharing a powerful experiment I tested on myself and with my community in The Present Woman Challenge to help you reclaim your power by creating awareness of how much of it you are giving away to attachments shaped by the hurt of the past or the fear of the future.
Come journey with me on what is a vulnerable and profound insight into how our attachments shape our stories and our lives.

A new year can often feel like a beautiful blank canvas of possibility for you to paint upon. A canvas where vision, intention and action collide, sparking a meaningful shift toward that which ignites a fire in your soul. As I write these words, I feel goosebumps at the infinite possibilities and the learning that I know will come with trying, even when it doesn’t work out as planned.I also ground myself in the reality that in the age of information overload and coaching gurus selling you the world, making a meaningful shift toward living a life that feels purposeful, present and spacious enough to have a meaningful impact can feel complicated. For all of these reasons, the first podcast for the year is dedicated to helping you invest in the support you need to realise your dreams in 2024 with intention and due diligence. I want to ensure that when you invest in yourself, you get what you pay for and make some serious progress.

Have you met Balance yet?
Ok, so when I say that I’m guessing I sound a little crazy but I’m not. You see I spent many years of my life chasing work-life balance rather than listening to what my body and my mind were trying to tell me and in my corporate career it left me burnt out.
It felt like the harder I chased balance, the more elusive she became and the more disconnected I became from myself, from my true essence and the ones I loved.
When I let go of what society defined as balance and created the space to listen to what my body and mind needed for me to show up as the woman I wanted to be, I discovered something simple and life-changing.
Balance was not a destination; it was a way of being, and it is found in the micro-moments of recharge and rest that you choose to inject into each day. The more I invest in these sacred pockets of time, the more impact I have and the more I feel connected to the woman I want to be in the world.
I know I’m not alone when I say the pursuit of balance is burning us out. It’s for this exact reason that I want you to meet Balance on this week’s podcast. She has a message for you, and I know you’re going to want to hear it.

Vulnerability allows us to breathe again. It creates the space to release, to put ourselves out there as who we really are, to try something new, and to take ownership of our growth. Yet, it feels so damn uncomfortable, which is why we avoid it. However, the avoidance of vulnerability often takes us further away from who we are. It's for all of these reasons that I want to dedicate this podcast to the power of vulnerability and provide you with an open invitation to consider what a date with vulnerability would look like for you in the service of your own growth.Enjoy!

Learning to trust your intuition.
If you're body is whispering to you, can you hear it?The busy pace of life has left many of us so in our heads checking off a never-ending to-do list that when our body calls to us for help we can't hear it.
Perhaps this is why so many women from 40+ feel like they're going crazy before uncovering that they are, in fact, Peri Menopausal.
We've become experts in ignoring our body's warning signals. It's for this exact reason that in this episode of the Hacking Happy Podcast we speak to Natalie and Lisa from Own Your Health Collective.
Together we explore the myths of menopause, why your intuition is so critical to aging well and how to not feel so alone in your journey.

The myth of normal is that we assume the conditions of society are healthy simply because we are used to them. - Dr Gabor MateThis is a quote that opens a can of worms when we dig deeper into what is going on with successful professional women at the moment, particularly the ones who are mothers. In this week's podcast, I want to explore the pervasive phenomenon that I call high-functioning burnt-out woman syndrome.
I want to shine a spotlight on what she looks from the outside looking in versus what’s really going on for her inside each and every day. I want to expose why it’s a problem not only for her but for us as a society, and I want to explore what we can do to intervene in a way that empowers her to make the shift that she longs for when she feels she doesn’t have the energy to do so.

I spent many years of my life (up until I became an entrepreneur) chasing balance and a few years back discovered, that the harder I chased balance the more elusive it became.
This process has been further validated by the over 150 exhausted professional women I have interviewed (for my research) who have shared that flourishing in life for them is having balance. However, most of them cannot recall a time in their life where they felt balanced and if they did they couldn’t sustain it.
This is why I’m investing the new four weeks of my time dispelling the myths of balance to help you shift the lens through which you look at balance and redefine it in a way that unlocks more harmony in your days.
This first podcast focuses on dispelling the Top 5 myths of balance as an invitation to reconsider your relationship with balance and how it impacts how you show up in life.

Your voice should be heard.
I’ve started to notice a trend... so many coaching clients come to me to find and share their voice into the world for impact.
How that manifests is unique to every client it might mean starting a podcast, speaking on stage, starting a business or stepping into that leadership position you deserve to own.
Now what I find interesting is that the reason these women often struggle to find their voice and speak their truth is fear.
Fear of judgement and what others will think.
This podcast is about stepping into vulnerability and owning your voice and in the process your truth and your potential.

Have you ever considered what or whom you are attached to, and how that attachment might be holding you back?
I've studied attachment theory in my psychology degree and have recently been digging deep to understand how it impacts my life and how I can let go of it in the service of creating the space for growth.
I wanted to share this experience and the lessons in the hope that it might inspire you to explore your relationship with attachment for your own expansion.

Why rejection is a sign you're growing & making progress towards your dreams.
Rejection as opportunity, not an obstacle.
How do you feel when you get rejected? For most of us, it can conjure up feelings of not being good enough or failing and then result in us not continuing to progress toward a dream.
But what if rejection was the gateway rather than the dead end to making progress around the things that light a fire in your soul?
In this week's podcast, I share how rejection is fundamental to the opportunities I receive to do the work I love, how it is a sign you are growing and making progress and how to challenge the lens through which you view rejection in order to realise opportunities you never imagined possible.

This podcast was inspired and is dedicated to the over 100 professional women I have interviewed over the past year who have shared their truth and their desire for wanting to feel like they are living rather than existing.
Consistently what I hear from these women is "I've lost my spark." I look in the mirror and I no longer recognise the woman staring back at me. If this connects then this podcast is also for you.
In this podcast we explore what we mean by spark, why it matters, where I started to find my spark and a couple of simple tools to kick-start reigniting yours.
Enjoy!

The number one ingredient required to grow and expand into the person and the life you long for is space.
Space to reflect, to brainstorm, to plan and to just be and sit in the present moment and allow it to inspire you. Space is what so many of my prospective clients tell me they need and yet for so many of us space feels elusive. Space is and will always be elusive if every moment of every day is full. Space only comes when we let go. Let go of the things that no longer serve the direction we wish to head in.
On this podcast, I bring in a beautiful friend and co-worker Mariah Mcinnes to go deep on why we need to let go in order to lean into more of what gives us meaning.
Together we explore our journey toward letting go of each other after working together for over 2 years and how the courage to do so is allowing both of us to expand our businesses.
Mariah's journey of letting go of a safe career and leaning into the life of a digital nomad will inspire and surprise you in its magic and imperfection.

I'm finishing up a significant Psychology qualification that started with a tiny step into discomfort which is why in this weeks podcast I want to explore how small changes change your life.
We're going to explore how tiny steps that take like 10 mins can start to shape the life that you longed for. And how these tiny steps start to reduce this feeling of overwhelm that so many of us struggle with that holds us back from stepping into anything that we truly want.

This episode of the Hacking Happy podcast continues where we left off last week and forms Part 2 in my series entitled What a real 8-year business journey looks like.
In case you missed Part 1 I highly recommend you venture back and listen to Episode 82 first to get the full story.
In short, it's 8 years since I turned my back on a crazy salary in a global giant, registered my business name and stepped into the great unknown that comes with building a business from absolutely nothing.
When I reflect back, I remember thinking can I do this? Am I crazy? This is now one of the most common questions I get asked by prospective coaching clients who want to make a significant shift in their career, and life of the business.
This is why I created this two-part podcast series, to expose what it really looks like to build a business over 8 years.
This is not your Instagram-filtered BS journey of how I became a millionaire in six months it’s a journey into experimentation, expansion, reflection and the roller coaster ride of emotion that goes with it.
So, strap yourself in as I walk you through my experience in the hope that if you are on the precipice of wanting to make a shift into shaping your own purpose-led business you do so with eyes wide open and a sense of knowing you are not alone.

Greetings from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. A place encapsulated by magnificent jungles, underground rivers and the Caribbean sea and a culture that dates back to BC.
I’m trying to put into words how this place makes me feel and it’s difficult but let me try.
As I sit and soak it in, I realise how being surrounded by such an abundance of nature brings a feeling of calm, of inner peace and a clarity of mind and creativity.
Yet there is an inner battle, it’s real and it’s illogical.
It’s the battle between making the most of being halfway around the world in paradise and just allowing the day to unfold without the distraction of back home.
I feel this jungle oasis calling me to connect with nature, and yet my phone calls me also. It’s saying if you don’t take me, you might miss capturing that moment.
It’s that inner conflict between what we feel we should do and what our body is telling us we need - disconnection from distraction and reconnection to what is innately human.
These are all the reasons why this week’s podcast if focused on how surrendering to nature and injecting more of it into your life in small simple ways provides a basis not only for a greater sense of calm but it equally has shown to recharge your attention muscle!

I felt compelled to create this podcast because my research with over one hundred beautiful working women this year has exposed a consistent theme when it comes to feeling like you’re existing rather than living.
This podcast episode is for anyone who feels like they're letting everyone down and like nobodies getting the best of them.
If that sounds like you let’s go deeper.
It’s likely you long for a greater sense of ease, calm and groundedness in the average day but at the moment you feel relentless exhaustion like you’re operating in robot mode, unable to unplug the status quo and disrupt a lifestyle that not only isn’t serving you it’s making you feel toxic inside and out.
If you’re listening to this and saying OMG I feel like she’s in my head then let’s have a conversation about what’s going on inside your head and how you can create a circuit breaker to disrupt the status quo and kick start resetting your foundations towards a little more energy, presence and calm in each day.

My brain is bending in ways I never imagined.
I’m currently buried in Neuroscience.
It’s blowing my mind around what I’m learning about the biology of the brain and how it is impacted by our behaviour and our environment.
Connecting dots as I do I partner this feeling with something else that I keep hearing from my early-stage coaching clients.
It’s but a simple question. Why aren't things happening fast enough?
I get it when I first started this journey, I’d try something new, put something new out into the world and 4 weeks later I’d be asking why didn’t work and switching to well what do I do next?
I look back now and I realise my expectations were completely unrealistic. In this week's podcast we explore what neuroscience, sleep and transformation all have in common and the basis this provides for us to challenge our thinking and doing in a way that is meaningful.

We are experiencing a human energy crisis.
Can you feel it?
We have to ask ourselves how did we arrive here? Arrive in a place where productivity has become our disease at the expense of healthy and happy high performance.
How is it that we now use the label quiet quitting for people who do the job they are paid to do without sacrificing their lives and their health for it?
In this week’s podcast, I want to start a conversation about how toxic productivity is driving a human energy crisis and how shifting our focus from productivity to healthy high performance can shape a thriving future.

I’ve just had the biggest month I’ve ever had in my business by more than double. I smashed my monthly target that I set as a goal at the start of the year completely out of the park.
I never considered that I, with just an assistant who works a day a week for me and a social media support person, could achieve such a result and yet here we are. It feels overwhelmingly abundant but it also feels like a moment of truth.
This podcast is about stripping back the layers in a world masked by wins and successes and instead sharing the truth of living a wholehearted life.
That truth is that a year ago I almost gave up and walked away from the dream I’d created. I'm sharing the what, why and how of how it unfolded and it may be just what you need to hear if you find yourself in the struggle of change and ready to give up or perhaps not even start!

What if you stopped living by the rules and made your own? Mona and I met at a co-working space we used to share. We used to enjoy an informal chat and she was always asking questions about how I’d turned my life upside down in pursuit of happiness and stopped living by the rules and instead made my own. |I left the coworking space in 2018 and our paths hadn’t crossed since. That was until a few weeks back when she popped into my inbox with the most tear-welling, heart-warming story of change. Unbeknown to me in 2019 Mona ditched her successful corporate career and took a 1-year sabbatical to find who she wanted to be in this world. She landed in Somaliland where she had familial roots and noticed an opportunity. There were no public or community spaces for creative engagement, artistic practice or community events. In particular, women and children had limited access to social and public spaces which are largely reserved for men. Mona chose to stop living by the rules and started to create her own and has now, with her sister, established the first art and community centre in Somaliland EQRA. In this episode of the Hacking Happy Podcast Mona shares her truly inspiring story of transformation. "You will always attract what you believe you're worth." - UnknownAfter recently stumbling across this quote, I found myself curious about why the self-worth of many of my prospective coaching clients is so low when they first come to me. These are high-performing, successful women who, from the outside looking in, appear to have it all going on but inside, it's a different story. Equally, this quote had me connecting to my own journey and how I have built my self-worth to a point where I attract this beautiful life I get to live.I wondered what can I share that will be in service of those who long to live their days differently but don’t feel worthy or confident enough to just start. Working mums are burnt out.I’m pissed off.I’m frustrated.I’m sad.And I’m not going to be silent any longer. What I am seeing in my work with professional working mums is disturbing and something has to be done.I have spent the last eight weeks interviewing dozens of women who have reached out to me off the back of social posts I have shared around an alarming trend in working women around pervasive burnout. There have been so many tears, so many cries for help, stories of needing to see a Psychologist and having to wait 5 months, significant weight gain, suicidal thoughts, 10 to 12 hours days attached to a Zoom screen, not moving from a desk other than to grab a quick tea and discs bulging out of necks as a result, and many of these women have contemplated or quit their highly-paid jobs.I was so disturbed that I had to dig deeper, so, I chose to write my most recent psychology paper on the impacts of COVID-19 on working mums.In this week's podcast, I want to share it with you and at the end, I’m going to offer up a couple of simple actions you can take if you are one of these working mums I speak of.Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Real stories from real people. What comes to your mind when you think of the word transformation? For me, it’s a visual of a little caterpillar one day deciding its time, so she spins her little cocoon to encase herself and soon after reappears as a beautiful butterfly. Transformed into the next iteration of who she wants to be, it’s intentional and it’s beautiful.Whilst I love this visual I know all too well the truth of transformation. It’s messy, it’s uncertain, uncomfortable, it requires failure, experimentation, persistence and resilience. This is why so many of us spend our lives longing for it but never take the leap into living.I’ve created this week’s podcast for anyone who finds themselves stuck in the void between intention and action and unable to find the right path to progress their dreams. So many people reach out to me asking where did you start? How did you know it would work? What one action had the greatest impact? They want to know the how of making change so that they can find the confidence to step into the life they long for. That’s why this week I want to bring to you stories of transformation from everyday people, people like you and I who have stepped into the unknown, embraced failure and realised happiness they never thought possible as a result. I want to share their diverse stories in the hope that it might inspire you to take just one action that moves you from frustrated to fulfilled so that you can show up wholeheartedly in life as who you really are!So, grab a pen and paper and strap yourself in. There is wisdom in their words and inspiration in their actions.Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Make progress towards possible. I’ve been spending a lot of time reflecting of late on what in my transformation journey has been most impactful in propelling me forward. Moving me closer to what I term a growth lifestyle. A lifestyle that is in alignment with how I want to show up and enjoy this wild and wonderful experience that is life. It's that reflection that was the catalyst for this podcast which I have to say surprised and delighted me in terms of how it unfolded.I never appreciated how critical such a simple step as investing in the right coach would be, in realising possibility. This is why, in today’s podcast, I want to share with you why investing in a coach, quite literally, is the secret to amplifying your productivity and your ability to flourish.Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Using science to elevate confidence. Back early on in my career at the ripe old age of 20, I got my first job in a corporate environment working for a woman who I looked up to as a role model. She seemed kind and helpful through the interview process, but not long after I started, I felt like every task I undertook was under a criticism microscope. The longer this went on, the more I tried harder to please her, the less happy she became and the more my confidence eroded.I was astounded at how my environment had a significant downward shift in a skill that was part of who I am.I soon realised how toxic this situation had become and came to the conclusion that the only thing standing between me and my ability to believe in myself again and find that spark in my work, was ME.It was time to get out of my own way. This is where we are going in this week’s podcast because I have been blown away by the number of highly successful professional women I have interviewed over the past few weeks who have shared with me that the biggest barrier to them leading a flourishing life is themselves.Take a listen and learn a beautiful little hack to help you dial down the inner chatter and step into your spark.Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Sidelining should. You should, I should, we should. What does this word should mean to you?How does it make you feel?I’ve been noticing it in my vocab a lot lately, moving through my day thinking I should do this, I should do that.It has me thinking about how this word makes me feel… which is often shitty, depleted, and like I’m not doing enough, not being enough. So, I thought in this week’s podcast we might deep dive into a little word wellbeing. We're out of lockdown and it feels a bit like turning 18 years old or 21 in the US and being able to get out and party legally. We feel like we can make plans again without them being pulled out from under us at the last minute, and on the work front, there is always a race to get things done before the Christmas deadline. Which turns on the busy buttons and pushes us toward burnout. It’s for all of these reasons that I want to explore in this week's podcast what investing in your zen could look like, to inspire you to get after it in a way that might help reset your wellbeing foundations for 2022.Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Off the back of the literature review I recently undertook for my psychology studies on how COVID-19 restrictions have accelerated mental health and wellbeing issues in women, I decided to create an interview series with Mums in lockdown. I wanted to share firsthand their challenges, how they are navigating life, and any hacks they have discovered that enables them to inject more of what matters into each day.Today we kick off with Patty Di Parisa a Clinical Psychologist who has over 20 year’s experience in the treatment of anxiety, panic, stress, trauma, grief, and depression, in older adolescents (>16 years) and adults. Patty is also the mother of three and has been living, homeschooling, and working through the longest pandemic in the world in Melbourne. In this episode of the Hacking Happy podcast, we explore what pandemic flux is, how to process feelings of anger using radical acceptance, why moving your body is critical to your mental health and why we don't teach processing feeling as a subject at schools.Strap yourselves in this is a must-listen.Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Women struggle to keep up. Over the past 18 months, I have watched a shift, a visible shift in mental health, in wellbeing, and a particular shift in women. I’ve felt the shift in myself.I couldn't ignore what I was seeing. It's the reason I have gone back to university to study psychology and why I chose to do my first assignment on how social isolation, the increased workload in the home, and escalating uncertainty driven by COVID-19 restrictions are accelerating the level of mental health and wellbeing issues in Australian women. In this episode of the Hacking Happy podcast, I want to share with you that piece of work. The insights are profound and it paints a disturbing picture of the psychological distress the number one caregivers in our society, both up and down the generational chain are under.Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Thinkology is your advantage. If I asked you "What would be most helpful to you right now in making the change you seek?" what would your response be?One of the number one responses to this question, when it's posed at the end of the Hacking Happiness Assessment, is "the time to think, the time to reflect."Creating the space to be alone with one's thoughts in a way that is constructive rather than destructive in the current environment provides the basis for us to step forward with intention and greater clarity. That's why in this week's podcast I'm sharing a couple of really simple practices like Thinkology to help you kick start creating the space to think and reflect on the things that matter to you.Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Unlock possibility through rejection: How often do you let fear of rejection of the answer being NO, stop you from asking for what you want? What if rejection actually held the key to possibility?Have you ever considered that you can’t get a YESs unless you get NOs? Building the skills to thrive. What are you seeing or not seeing that has you raging inside at the moment? For me, it's that the government has media conferences every day about COVID and restrictions yet there seems to be no nationwide pro-active education on how to help people navigate the uncertainty and build skills that will enable them to create mental wealth. We are around 18 months into this pandemic, with no end in sight and there is a clear opportunity to prioritise skill-building in wellbeing at scale and do it now!So, my vision for how I direct my energy has shifted. My goal is not to create a business, it’s to create a systemic shift in how we approach and enable sustainable mental wellbeing in uncertainty. In this week's podcast, I want to explore with you this concept of mental wealth and invite you to share your thoughts and ideas on how we might put a firecracker up the powers that be to get some serious traction around this.If this sounds like a plan, take a listen and feel free to reach out with any ideas you may have on supporting the elevation of mental wealth via hello@hackinghappy.coSubscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Gratitude for good and bad: We cannot control what life throws at us, but we can control how we choose to show up.My Mum is my Hacking Happiness mentor and I could not be more proud of where I’ve come from. She was a farmer who raised three children on her own and then retrained as a yoga teacher at age 60. She went on to start her own yoga business teaching the elderly and youths with disabilities.2020 was a tough year for many of us, but for mum, it was exceptionally challenging with her best friend of 50 years found murdered and another close friend suiciding amidst 6 months of lockdowns. In this conversation (that we recorded during lockdown in September 2020) we talk about processing grief, intentionally adapting and finding joy no matter what life throws at you. and why it doesn't matter: Ever asked yourself what is the cost of never being ready, the cost of never realising the life that I know could make me happier?I asked myself this question six years ago and in my view, it was too much. Turning dreams into reality: In 2014 I turned my life upside down in pursuit of happiness and started my own business. At the time I had no idea what I was doing or where it was going to take me. All I knew to be true was that I wanted to positively impact the lives of others, be more humanly connected and live more in each moment. At the time I also had a dream that one day my work and its impact would be validated.I would write an article for the esteemed Harvard Business Review on how I was helping make people’s lives happier in my business.Again, I had no idea what it looked like, how it would happen, but I wrote that dream down and popped it away in a drawer. In this podcast, I share with you how this small act of writing down a crazy dream with no clear plan on how to make it happen made it happen. This is not one of those bullshit overnight success stories of how I made millions and how I can teach you to do the same.Instead, it's a story of persistence and experimentation that evolved into the creation of my dream business and life. This story is designed to inspire you to put your own dream in a drawer now and to take one small action that moves you closer towards it today!Take the free Hacking Happy Assessment I mention in this episode via hackinghhappyassessment.com to shine a spotlight on where your opportunities for simple intentional action lie!If anything I shared in today’s episode struck a chord with you, slide into my DMs on Instagram (@hackinghappy.co) to let me know all the details!Subscribe & Review The Hacking Happy PodcastThanks for listening to this week's episode! Awkward, uncomfortable and cathartic. In today’s episode of The Hacking Happy Podcast I’m trying something different. I’m taking you inside my inner thoughts and opening up my journal to demonstrate the power of leaning into vulnerability and small acts of courage. This felt awkward, uncomfortable and cathartic all at once. The tribe has spoken and asked me for hacks on being more courageous and I felt doing this was a great way to show you what it looks and feels like.I share a recent event that triggered feelings of failure, low self-worth and shame (yes I have these moments!) and how I use journaling to process these feelings in a way that is constructive rather than destructive. If this episode resonates, let me know via hello@hackinghappy.co as I’m keen to have a regular episode where I share an extract from my journal with the intent of helping others in a way that is raw and meaningful.Resources* If this resonates why not grab a copy of Hacking Happiness the book here, read it and then share your experience on socials, or if you have a mailing list, share with your subscribers what you've learnt * If you’re interested in digging deeper into your own happiness and realising more of it, take a look at our growing suite online programs here * A single private coaching spot is opening up with me in the coming month if you're interested click here to get the details and apply.

71 and Teaching Yoga: To celebrate Mother's Day and share a story that has already inspired 8,000+ people on LinkedIn, I decided to invite my amazing Mum, Sandra Reed, onto the Human First podcast couch. Since COVID-19 hit I have been committed to sharing stories that uplift and encourage a little more joy into our days. This week is no exception. At age 60 my mum (who had been a farmer) decided to reinvent herself and become a yoga teacher. She went on to start a small business that provided yoga to those in her community who were aged over 60 and wanted to keep moving. Mum and her students love what she's created which is why she's still going at 71. That's right, a 71-year-old yoga teacher! When COVID-19 hit, the classes stopped, meaning Mum's students would miss their weekly exercise highlight... that was until my brother and I taught Mum how to use Zoom. Mum started experimenting, purchased a Bluetooth microphone and last week ran her first online yoga classes. I was so proud to join and support her as I knew it would feel a little weird and perhaps challenging the first couple of times. Mum is far from tech savvy but she is intentionally adaptable, and that skill has ensured that she and her students can continue to have their yoga joy in lockdown. This Week We Discuss:* How change, in bite-size pieces builds the courage and confidence to step into bigger change over time * Why being true to who you are is so much more fulfilling than being normal or trying to please others * How a mindset change can open up possibilities you never imagined and help others at the same time
