Episode 16: Relation-Shit
We all have ideas about how we should be treated by others in this world based on our own experiences and the values held by the societies in which we live. My issue is that some of the ways that we as women feel we should be treated does not always line up with how we present in the world. Narratives like:
I deserve to be treated like a Queen!
I am an independent woman!
What did the man do to cause friction in your relationships?
Doesn’t provide a full picture and can lend to women showing up in undignified ways and expecting Queen treatment. Or, showing up as an independent woman who does not need a Man, or, not accepting their part in the demise of a relationship!
All of these things without a full understanding of how to navigate each can create unhealthy habits that stays with us from relationship, to relationship to relationship! Join in with me as I discuss and attempt to flesh out some of what is missing from the conversation.

Minimizing The Masculinity of Black Men (Episode 5 ): Piggybacking off of our previous episode we discovered that black men often feel very upset by the way in which they are forced to communicate with the general public and at work, so that mainstream members can feel comfortable with them. We discuss they're frustration, the training they receive as young boys in the home and the communication between significant others with respect to what they will teach they're black sons about navigating corporate America. You'll meet two couples Tyrone and Johnique married with two children and Mike and Safira a new couple on a path to blending they're lives. This conversation is thoughtful and eye-opening enjoy!
Episode 4 : There has been controversy surrounding Oprah Winfrey using her platform to highlight recent sex cases against Black Men in Hollywood, but not using that same platform to cast light on their Caucasian counterparts. In a recent interview aired on CBS Gayle (Oprah's long time friend) brought up sexual allegations that involved Kobe Bryant in the past. Resulting in outrage by Kobe's fans. The comments by fans to the Media duo have called into question whether the pair are on a mission to destroy black men. Are they being judged fairly? Or is this an opportunity for people to hold Black Women accountable for items, which otherwise go undiscussed when Men or other ethnicities engage in the same behavior? We'll get into this topic and much more...
