Here’s another stupidly soulful double A-side whammy by Amsterdam’s Jay.Soul on It Won’t Stop: All Abouttt She: A thick, oven warm instrumental hip-hop track with juicy re-arranged vocal chops so laidback and sexy you may need a safety helmet when playing this. A blanket of 90s style filtered baselines and meticulously laid out drums form the solid foundation for all these feels to float on. We particularly love how the vocal samples low-key keep being re-arranged and shift patterns along the way.

Grass Is Greenerrr: As you know, it may seem that way - but the grass is often exactly as green (or yellow/brown - we’ve all been there) over yonder. So cherish your current grass. Lol. Musically this is a fresh playful interpretation of a stone-cold soul classic. No deep digging for this one, but tasteful and effective sampling and beat programming will set the mood for your BBQ sesh, daytime party of start of the night DJ sets. Thank us later.

File under: beatstrumentals, hip-hop instrumentals, beats, instrumental hip-hop, jazzbeats, boombap, 90s hip-hop, soul beats Similar artists: 9th Wonder, Stro Elliott, Tall Black Guy, Pete Rock, Dilla.

It Won't Stop is excited to present a long-awaited solo effort by Amsterdam's Jay.Soul!

He's best known for his grooving but cinematic, genre-bending productions for AM444 (with one of China's most interesting artists, YEHAIYAHAN - fka ChaCha), intelligent grown folks hip-hop with Brooklyn star rapper Justo The MC (Showbiz, Maticulous, Gang Starr Foundation) and warm, funky neo-soul with the likes of Corey (Dutch Grand Prize, 2002), Giovanca (Dox Records), and NineFifty (with Miss Dee Angeline - 4Lux).

Besides this, he's composed original music for and performed music in a few films and numerous theatre productions (NLFilm, Urban Myth, Produktiehuis Rotterdam, NNT and Huub van der Lubbe), and had his music synced 100+ times in tv shows and other visual media.

But everything started more than 20 years ago with Jay.Soul (Jeroen van Olffen) making endless amounts of instrumentals, by himself. And this has never stopped. So, it's only right and long overdue you finally get to enjoy a selection of brand new solo tracks by this seasoned beat magician.

The 6 KNOKERS ep show strong traces of a jazzy 90s hip-hop aesthetic, but are equally influenced by various more current electronic styles and always seem to possess an effortless dose of soul & funk. As long as the vibes are right, the drums are knocking and the heavy bass is pushing things forward, who cares what genre(s) this should be labeled as.

Playlist alongside artists like: Kaytranada, J Dilla, Four Tet, Anderson Paak instrumentals, Suff Daddy, FKJ, Moods, Tall Black Guy etc. credits releases April 2, 2020

all tracks: Jay.Soul mastering; illcuzz1 at King Otis Studios artwork: King Otis (inspired by Brawl Stars)

Had to rework that nice new Oh Wonder single into something Heavier. Love their music. No infringement, just a tribute. Play loud...
