Tuesday marked 10 years since the murder of Rhys Jones in Croxteth. The 11-year-old was hit by a bullet outside the Fir Tree Pub as he cycled home from football practice. The number of cases in Liverpool have more than doubled since 2001 – up from 47 to 99 – and the latest figures from 2014 show there were 14 deaths in the city.
