In a time where everyone has their own ideas of what truth looks like, what is the duty & role of a fact-checker?
It doesn't take a lot of smarts to realize that what we hope modern fact-checking looks like vs what it actually does look like are two very, very different things in the news we read.
This is why I asked Viviane Fairbanks to be on the show today. Viviane is a fact-checker and writer based in Montreal, and she recently wrote an amazing piece titled : How Do We Exit the Post-Truth Era? Why fact-checking alone won't save us from fake news. The moment I finished reading I instantly sent her an email to discuss the story.
