Entrepreneurs are thought of to be risk takes? Or is it? That is the question? How is it that risks for expert entrepreneurs and big corporates seem to always work out? Why is it that if you take risks you nearly go bankrupt? And if you start a business without money, then you are not an entrepreneur because you are not taking any risk?
All entrepreneurs are taking some form of risk, the devil is in the details as they say. One of the biggest mistakes an entrepreneur can make is to think he is not taking any risks, while he does, or ignoring the risks he or she is taking.
In this episode I am going to share with you how expert entrepreneurs have been able to play the game of risk into their favour, and why I believe that creativity is more important than risk and the 7th startup sin that you have to avoid.
When starting a business, we make a lot of assumptions. Assumptions are awesome as it saves us time, and let us into action. I love assumptions! I’m sure you do too!
All entrepreneurs are making assumptions, if they did not, then they would not be in business! One of the biggest mistakes an entrepreneur can make is to ignoring or not accounting for the various assumptions he or she is making!
In this episode I am going to share with you the 6th startup sin that often causes business failure, if not burnout, and at worst, it will prevent you from growing or scaling your business.
When running any business, the harder you work, the more money you make. The problem is that this can get you stuck in your business, or even, as I call it, imprison yourself in your own business.
They have said you need to work on your business, and not in your business. And that is easier said than done. One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is what I’d like to call the fifth sin which you should avoid at all cost!
Most entrepreneurs, if you ask them this question: Can you take your family on a 3 week consecutive holiday without worrying about your business? Their answer would almost always be a big NO.
In this episode I am going to share with you the 5th zero startup sin that can imprison you and how ignorance to this risk can take your freedom completely away and cause burnout! I will end off by sharing how a strategic change in your business can get you out of this trap.
When starting any business, with or without funding or capital, you should not be under this false illusion for its reality you need to be prepared for. Even though it is possible to start a business with zero funding, you will pay for starting up in other ways.
Most entrepreneurs, if you ask them this question: When you started out, how easy did you think it was? Their answer would be almost always: “Way more difficult than I thought!”. For example, skipping essential steps or simply ignoring risks are just some of them…
Within this episode I share the fourth startup sin that you should avoid when starting out without money. If you commit this specific sin, you will certainly be disappointed in yourself, your results and fail.
It is indeed possible to start a business with zero funding. However there are some caveats that should be avoided, and remember there is no such thing as a free lunch.
The question is, how are you paying, if it is not with money. Also starting any kind of business without knowing what your direct value add is, can be a serious problem.
Within this episode I share the third startup sin that you should avoid when starting out without money. If you commit this specific sin, and the serious relationship problems it can create for you and those around you.
When entrepreneurs start a business, the number most important outcome that they expect is to achieve results as fast as possible. Even though this is the number one outcome any entrepreneur desires, when starting out, this very same desire can result in a serious problem in their business.
Within this episode I share the second startup sin that you should avoid when starting out without money. If you commit this specific sin, you cause yourself problems later on in your business, which may possibly lead to business failure.
I only realized the impact of this sin many years after I had committed it myself, and that is the biggest problem with this sin.
At the end of this episode I will share with you the best way to avoid this sin so that you can build a business that will last.
When entrepreneurs wanting to start a business, the number one big question they have is, where will they get the money to do so. It is often the number one reason why they are not starting a business. However, there are other ways!
Within this episode I share the first startup sins that you should avoid when starting out without money. If you commit this sin, you reduce your chances of success, and increase your frustrations to start a business.
I only realized this 1 sin when I wrote my conclusions chapter in 2017 in my PhD Thesis, where I evaluated a coaching programme that have helped 37 entrepreneurs to start a businesses within 3 months without money.
At the end of this episode I will share with you the best way to avoid this sin so that you do not get stuck in your business.
When entrepreneurs wanting to start a business, the number one big question they have is, where will they get the money to do so. It is often the number one reason why they are not starting a business. However, there are other ways!
Within this episode I share how to use the Lean to Zero Zagger Framework (LZZ framework) together with the Stepping Stone Business Concept to start the business of your dreams. A business is like a good bottle of red wine. It takes time to mature. Agriculture and especially Macadamia nut farming are surely businesses that take time to yield any results.
Again 13 years ago, a student came to my office, and asked how he is going to start this business without funding. Now he had no land, no seedlings to plant, and no infrastructure built his business on.
I end of this episode with the strategy that he deployed to get setup as a farmer without any funding.
When entrepreneurs wanting to start a business, the number one big question they have is, where will they get the money to do so. It is often the number one reason why they are not starting a business. However, there are other ways!
Within this episode I share the From Lean to Zero Zagger Framework (LZZ framework) that I have developed nearly 13 years ago, to change a business from needing some funding to zero funding by changing the startup business model. One of my students approached me in 2008 to help them start a construction business without funding. Now no body was going to borrow him money, and he did not have any money.
I end off with how he was able to execute a construction project without any funding.
When entrepreneurs wanting to start a business, the number one big question they have is, where will they get the money to do so. It is often the number one reason why they are not starting a business. However, there are other ways!
Within this episode I share a part of my framework that I have developed 13 years ago, to help my university students to start a business. The kind of student we have in South Africa are typically poor, with no generational capital. Therefore they are mostly first generational entrepreneurs, middle class and wealth creators. With that context, I had to create a framework to help them with their limited resources, which I have perfected over time.
I end off with an idea on how to start a business without money or with limited resources.
