In this episode, John uses farming as a metaphor for our mental health. John explains that when certain things are imbalanced in our soil it greatly impedes the ability of that crop (corn, pumpkins, etc) to thrive and flourish. The same thing is true for humans. When certain things like social connectedness, movement, nature, sleep and gut biome are imbalanced it greatly impedes the individual's ability to thrive and flourish mentally.
In this episode, I review Dale Carnegie's book: How to Win Friends and Influence People.

EPISODE DESCRIPTION
In this episode, I go a bit deeper on the topic of human connection. I start with the bad news, which is we are the loneliest we have ever been in history. And this was before the pandemic. But all hope is not lost. There are some very simple things we can put into practice TODAY that can help us get more connected. To better understand this, I share a story about a youth -who was incredibly dysregulated and disconnected-I worked with and how much I learned from that experience. I finish off with a call to action for you, the listener, to help grow human connection in your world. If you want to go on a deeper dive into the power of human connection, this podcast episode is for you.

EPISODE DESCRIPTIONIn this episode, I speak with Canadian best selling author and clinical psychologist, Dr. Jody Carrington. We discuss her book, "Kids These Days", and what Jody claims is at the root of many of our mental problems, both adult and youth: dysregulation. Jody explains how dysregulation works and shares practical tips all of us can use to better regulate, especially those working with youth (parents, teachers, bus drivers, coaches, etc.). A significant theme that is sewn through Jody's book and this interview is the power of human connection. If this is something you think is important in your world, this is the podcast episode for you.
