The Artists' Space is a show on 103.2 Dublin City fm. We focus on artists working/living and exhibiting in Dublin. The show features previews and coverage of events,exhibitions, installations and profiles of individual artists.
We explore the many spaces and galleries in the city and speak to the artists, curators, directors and other contributors involved. The show covers all genres and variations of Art and Architecture, from broader profiles of scenes and themes to detailed explorations of unique works and personalities.
Ray spoke to Niamh Murphy, Curator of Dublin Live Art 2012.
The Dublin Live Art Festival (DLAF) will take place from the 30th October until the 4th of November 2012 and will bring together some of the most exciting live art makers and curators working in Ireland today.

Backstage Tours
For over one hundred years the Abbey Theatre has celebrated the power of theatre, the power of physically bringing together writers, directors, actors and audiences.
Get access to areas rarely seen by the public, enjoy an introduction to the historic art collection and be inspired by the people who founded and developed Ireland’s national theatre.
Retrace the footsteps of William Butler Yeats, Lady Gregory and the Fay brothers as our knowledgeable tour guides lead you on an interactive and engaging visit through the many aspects that come together to make Ireland’s national theatre.
These tours will be run Wednesday to Saturday. (to 24 November 2012 during The Picture of Dorian Gray)
Wednesday – Friday: 4pm Saturdays: 12pm
Tours last 1 hour 15 minutes and start from the Abbey Theatre foyer at 3.45pm (Wednesday to Friday), and 11:45am (Saturdays).
NOTE: The tour crosses four levels of the Abbey and involves some stairs. Please specify if mobility is an issue when booking, as we will do our utmost to accommodate those with reduced mobility.
€6 per person

Ella Burke Lives and works in Dublin (IRL)
Ella Burke creates situational, ephemeral, and time-based sculptures that embrace or capture a once-off performance. Her work usually survives through video and photographic documentation. Burke’s sculptures investigate memory and its role in developing societal and political spaces. Burke’s work has been exhibited at the East Gallery, Tallinn, Estonia 2010; Amharc Fhine Gall VII at Draoícht, Dublin 2010; and IMOCA, Dublin 2010. Burke is the recipient of a Graduate Award 2009 by the Irish Museum of Contemporary Art.

Jennifer Cunnigham is a visual artist based in Dublin and Galway and she works with video, paint, print, drawing, film and digital media. Her work is narrative and deals with the parameters of self and becoming self aware. It also deals with our surroundings, the notion of ‘das unheimlich’ or the uncanny and how familiar environments appear strange to us. Jennifer uses numerous forms of media to set up a dialogue between the still and the moving image.

Nick Munier's '44' at the The Doorway Gallery, ‘A Dog's Dinner’ by Sheila Rennick at Hillsboro Fine Art and Bob Dixon Photography's ‘Reflections of the City’at the Workman's Club

Nick Munier is well known as the former manager of Marco Pierre White’s Belvedere restaurant and stepped into the limelight as maitre d’ of ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen. Recently Nick opened his own restaurant in Dublin called ‘Pichet’ which has proved extremely popular. The launch of his auto biography ‘Boiling point’ this year was an even bigger success and more recently Nick has been chosen to be the judge on Ireland’s Masterchef which will be aired this September.
At an early age, art & design took his interest and he has been experimenting with styles ever since in order to develop himself as an artist. Nick has worked in many different types of media including acrylic, watercolour, enamel and oil over the years. Nick’s paintings are purely abstract,” I don’t like to dictate a piece, I much rather let it develop.”
In his paintings Nick creates hidden depths which require the viewer to engage in a second and even closer look. This is created through Nick’s method of paint application letting the colour and strokes flow beneath the aesthetic surface.
Sheila Rennick was Born in County Galway and educated at the National College of Art Design (NCAD) in Dublin and at Byam Shaw School of Art Central St Martin’s in London, where she took an MA in Fine Art Painting and Art History. Rennick received the CAP Foundation Award in 2004/5 and a painting prize at the Jerwood Contemporary Painters in 2007.

She zeroes in on an incident, a character (human as well as animal), or a mood, and lets it blossom and unfold in the space of the canvas, elaborated in thick, clotted masses of luscious if distinctly curdled oil pigment. Time and again in her paintings there is a sense of the cruel disjuncture between the subjective idea or self image and the startling reality.”

Bob Dixon is a Dublin based photographer who's talent knows no boundaries nor does his lust for capturing timeless stories.
Whilst Bob has firmly established himself as a highly respected music photographer throughout Ireland over the past decade, he has never limited himself by specializing in one specific genre of photography.
His portfolio encompasses his collection of travel, portraiture, architectural, panoramic and corporate photography to date.
Bob's work has been published, exhibited and bought by collectors all over the world. His travel photography was featured in a charity calendar this year and his collection of portrait work is set to become the theme of his first book release.
Bob has also delved into the world of video making and has recently produced a music video combining some photographic stills for a very exciting new collaborative effort with this years IMTV's 'Best Director' Myles O 'Reilly.
