What is the background to the Week of Nonviolence? How did it begin? What are the goals of the Week of Nonviolence? What events are being planned for the Week of Nonviolence? How to get involved? We will be joined by Dr. Stephanie Myers, Co-Chair of Black Women for Positive Change, Marcus Hughes, head of the Millennial Committee, and Rev. Kelvin Sauls, Pastor of Holman United Methodist Church, Los Angeles, CA. The Week of Nonviolence was founded by Black Women for Positive Change in 2014 and is in its fourth year.

The Black Lives Matter Movement was born as a response to the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Eric Garner and other Black people for whose deaths no one has been convicted. It was started by Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi and Alicia Garza, but some older African Americans, such as veteran Civil Rights activist Rev. Barbara Reynolds, question their methods. Zhana will be speaking with special guests including veteran civil rights activist Rev. Barbara Reynolds.
