This week, we are to the Lord as some old horrible furniture is to Rose. Jon looks on as she gets Nigel to help her sneak it into the garage. Green pastures and still waters make him think about taking a nap.
This week, Jon tackles the all-too prevalent problem of division in the Church. If a Church was made up of just two people, you'd better believe the Enemy would be getting right in there sowing discord. Paul says that those who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and also that we should be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus.

Pastor Jon preaches on a controversial-at-the-time sermon that Jesus gave where he said that we must all eat his flesh and drink his blood. Rev. Mel Davis concludes his preaching on giving God authority. We look at the book of Joel where God's promise is that His Holy Spirit will be poured out upon us.
Pastor Jon is away on vacation. In his absence, Rev. Mel Davis asks us: Does this generation exalt Jesus? It's the will of The Father that we do! However, in the world, God's authority and lordship is not generally observed. Tune in this week for our message on God's Authority in this generation.
Jon has noticed that guest speakers and testimonies get more Facebook likes than his sermons. He meanders aimlessly down a trailhead in Washington State and encounters a crowd of naked hippies. Luckily we don't have to meander aimlessly - we can be directed by the Holy Spirit! How? Listen to this week's message and don't forget to like it on Facebook!
Ask and keep asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Why? Because it's also flowing OUT of you! That's right, God's Holy Spirit is flowing out of you in order to accomplish His will! Jon talks this week about the difference between a beautiful freshwater lake and the decidedly smelly Dead Sea. We were not meant to be reservoirs of the Holy Spirit - we are designed such that 'from our innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'
Today Pastor Jon asks us to have a look at reality that becomes apparent to us through the Holy Spirit. Elisha's apprentice woke him up because he saw the city was surrounded by horses and chariots! Elisha prayed for his apprentice to see the reality that they actually outnumbered the enemy army! If you're playing swords in the front yard, trash-talk your dad like David called out Goliath! Rose wonders what Jon is teaching the boy.
This week, Straker Wilson encourages us with our calling. Who are we listening to? Is it ourselves? Who is listening to us? Straker shows us examples in Adam and Moses, and posits that we may in fact be a burning bush to those around us! Enjoy this word and this testimony from our good brother.
Happy Canada Day! This week, Jon continues the theme from last week as we look at how the Holy Spirit is available to us and how we should continually ask for His presence in our day to day lives.
Today we continue along the lines of our special guests for the past two weeks and discuss the necessity of a Spirit-filled existence. Rose is very good at bartering at garage sales, and we say goodbye to our wonderful sister Evelyn as she heads back to Calgary.

It's Palm Sunday at Compass Church! This week, a prisoner uses dental floss to escape from prison. Jon finds that a button needs more than a little thread to keep his shirt fastened. Paul the Apostle instructs us to be in company with God. Devote yourself and pursue him in prayer! David Yonggi Cho prays for three hours per day and Mary Magdalene is cleansed of seven demons. This week Jon gives Sophie more money than the boys and we find out Nigel's real first name. Jon gets an eye exam and does not make a Jacob/Esau joke. Paul the Apostle gives an eye exam to the Colossians. Moses wants to see God, and God says no. Jon wears a welding helmet and watches a solar eclipse. We welcome the newest member of Compass Church and then eat pizza.
This week, Jon likens us to an industrial vat of scrap metal being smelted. His experience as an essential employee at a foundry provides this valuable metaphorical insight.
Jon admits that this sermon series may carry on longer than anticipated. Now what? The book of Colossians is written specifically because of the false ideas that were spreading through Colosse. This may be relavent to us here in Richmond! This week, we recognize that Jesus is who everything was made by and made for. Also this is the first week where the church has been given homework! Read Colossians Chapter 1 in its entirety, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to you, and mediate for at least five or ten minutes. Give Him time to do it. A 112 year old American man died this week, Jon does some complicated math and inadvertently reveals Rose's age. Just kidding!
Isaiah gets sawn into pieces by Hezekiah's son Manasseh. Is it easier to be faithful when everything is going well? Jon asks Rose if she'd spend the night in Craigdarroch Castle with no lights or power. Jon hears a bush growling at him and freaks out. A spider's physical dimensions are rearranged and Jon challenges Lloyd to a footrace. A joyful message from start to finish!
Jon dampens the Christmas mood for a moment, but promises to give back more than he takes away. Christmas for us is a beautiful time culturally, but the why of the Christmas story is not all beautiful. There is something really ugly there. As he pictures himself as a hardened criminal when he gets out, the judge suspends his sentence and the whole room breathes a sigh of relief. Guilty, BUT he sentence is suspended. Rev. Mel Davis unpacks Psalm 73, written by Asaph. Asaph examines his life in contrast to the worldly life, how prosperous and abundant the lives of the wicked are. Jesus has called Peter Satan for suggesting that he can avoid his own death on the Cross. We face a similar temptation all the time in a generation so focussed on itself.
Spawning salmon deny themselves rest - they fight against the current because their next generation depends on their fortitude. First responders deny their innate self-preservation instinct as they fight against the current of fleeing civilians towards disaster. Michael sows a seed in a young man which bears fruit ten years later as the young man has become a youth pastor. Jon embarrasses his kids as he recounts how he was divinely inspired to pursue Rose. Does she fight against the current? You'll have to listen and find out.
Jon gives us his impressions of the self defence workshop on Saturday. Can't believe you missed it? Neither can we! Shortly after Jesus telling him that he is truly blessed among the disciples, the idea comes to Peter that he should take Jesus aside and correct him while he is addressing the disciples. As one might expect, Jesus is not pleased.
