You’ve probably heard about “Oriented” by now. It’s the 89 minute, charmingly entertaining peek into the real lives of three gay Palestinians who found the courage to “come out” while living in Tel Aviv.
I sat down for a chat with the film’s straight, Jewish director, Jake Witzenfeld. We talked about how political homosexuality in the face of conflict can be, what Jake learned about himself while directing it, and I got some insight into the creative process he went through along the way.

It’s rare to find an English speaker in Israel who hasn’t heard of the Facebook group Secret Tel Aviv or the man behind it, Jonny Stark. Jonny joined me on Kipp Kong to talk about how he turned a group of a few friends into an over 107,000 member group and Tel Aviv’s online cultural center… if you’re an English speaker, of course.

Jonny and I talked about how and why he created the page, what they’re up to now, cyber bullying, and all the drama he’s had to face for managing a group that he says is meant mainly to help internationals settle in Israel.

Adam had a lot to say about the meaning of music, a musician’s role in society today and throughout history, the process of creating new music, and the concept of “making it.” We were also joined by Jill Meltzer, a music manager who has been working in the industry for years in both New York and Tel Aviv. She provided some insight into the biz, the relationship between the artist and the label and how we are all artists every day. Stay tuned!

Last night, my buddy, Ori Ginzberg, got a phone interview with stand-up comedian, Hannibal Buress (who’s coming to Israel June 29th!). We were all pretty excited when the call went through.
I tried to nudge Ori to let me get Hannibal on Kipp Kong, but that wasn’t happening. You can check out the full interview on the next episode of This Is-Real- Making Sense of Israel for IDC Radio.
