Podcast MantoEL is an official podcast brought to you by PERMIAS MSU that brings you perspectives, opinions and thoughts from the Indonesian community here in East Lansing.
The word "MantoEL" in our podcast title is derived from the Indonesian slang "mantoel", which means "amazing" and it is written in old Indonesian spelling. We capitalized the EL to represent East Lansing, the place of where all of the hosts and crew currently study (Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan).

After a few long months, Podcast MantoEL is back for a third season! This is our first episode for the 2021/22 academic year and we had some changes to our line-up. Andhika Adiantoro remains as the lead host for this season and Nicholas Kurniawan retains his role as producer/editor. After being a guest on season one and two, Jasmine Richardson joins us as a permanent co-host, while Claudia Helena joins as a writer for the podcast team.
Listen in as we mostly talked about how it feels to be back to doing in person stuff on campus after about a year of mostly having stuff online. We also talked about our experiences during our time in back in East Lansing for this academic year!
Like everyone else, the PERMIAS MSU 2020/21 E-Board administration has gone through a very challenging year due to the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we still strive to bring the best activities/events despite the struggle.

Whisnu Triwibowo is a recent PhD graduate from the College of Communication and Arts at Michigan State University. He is currently raising his two daughters in East Lansing with her wife, Elin, as she describes her life as a spouse and a mother. The Youth Pledge (Sumpah Pemuda) was a declaration made on 28 October 1928 by young Indonesian nationalists in the Second Youth Congress, whereby they vowed to recognize only one Indonesian, one Indonesian people, and one Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia). To this day, it is still considered a significant date in the Indonesian calendar, especially for the youth community.
Batik Day (Hari Batik Nasional) is an Indonesian cultural day for celebrating batik that falls on October 2 and marks the anniversary of when UNESCO recognized batik as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2009. On the first episode, the hosts are going to discuss everything that surrounds batik and provide insights from an Indonesian citizen point of view on one of Indonesia’s proudest creations.
