"Life's too short not to live a passionate & meaningful journey" - This lesson is inspired by my late mum's battle with merciless cancer.
It's been exactly two years since she left and she's still one of my greatest driving force today.
Because of this lesson, I started Journey with Mavis in June 2020. Many things have evolved over the year and lately I paused to reconnect with what JOURNEY really means to me....
Here's the quick summary:
It actually stemmed from my greatest regrets relating to my mum - I used to be so obsessed with outcomes in my entrepreneurial pursuit that I neglected my loved ones and myself, which ironically are the reasons why I worked hard for.
And I decided that the best thing I can do is to ask myself "How do I transform these pain into purpose?" and it led me to the mission behind Journey with Mavis.
Let's journey together!

Hi my friends!
Meet Shan Shan:
Growing up in a typical Asian family and being the eldest child, she was brought up with the mindset that "You must be strong!". Showing vulnerabilites and weakness is not condoned and accepted. Upon entering the working world, she has experienced symptoms of burnt out during her 7 years in the corporate world.
Though still a work-in-progress, she is a strong advocate for mental wellbeing at the workplace and normalising therapy. She has recently completed her Certificate in Basics of Practical Counselling with Temasek Polytechnic.
In this episode, Shan Shan shares about her mental wellbeing personal stories, red flags and the beauty of seeking professional help.
“Sadly, too often, the stigma around mental health prevents people who need help from seeking it. But that simply doesn’t make any sense. Whether an illness affects your heart, your arm or your brain, it’s still an illness, and there shouldn’t be any distinction…we should make it clear that getting help isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s a sign of strength — and we should ensure that people can get the treatment they need.” - Michelle Obama

It's in my plan to start a community in late 2020 / early 2021 so I can start hearing your stories tooooo.
I believe that when WE DECIDE to seek hope in despair, WE WILL. Because we will start looking for things that bring us hope.
THINK: who needs you to DECIDE TO HOLD ONTO HOPE...?
For me, it was definitely my Mum at the point of time.
Her unfortunate situation led me to despair, but her courage & cheerfulness made me WANT & MUST & DECIDE TO HOLD ONTO HOPE NO MATTER HOW PAINFUL IT GETS.
And I know that....YOU HAVE SOMEONE TOO.
It may be even yourself, who really want to live & feel alive again.
"The people around you, if you're willing to reach out to them, their hands are always there to extend to you. Sometimes the people around us don't even know we need help, because we don't reach out. Don't suffer alone, there's really a lot of love, hope & warmth around the world." - Mavis
And in the episode (2:09 onwards) is some of my heartwarming encounters when I decided to reach out & shared my struggles. I experienced love & kindness of an immensity I never did before.
(0:00 - 2:08) 'Sharing of my Vulnerability Hangover'
P.S. Thank you @samaritansofsingapore for the daily mission & this social campaign #HopeThroughTheNight #SuicidePreventionWeek <3

But she realize, it's not about her, it's ABOUT YOU.
The episode is CREATED FOR YOU.
She hopes her sharing will inspire you to HOLD ONTO HOPE no matter what you're struggling with.
Remember, "No problem is too small if it's causing you to suffer."
