We Are Seek & Strike Podcast (WASSP) is the official podcast of Seek and Strike Collective. Each week, the Collective brings you a wide array of New Mexico United fan content (analysis, reactions, features, and more), as well as, other news around the United Soccer League. We are an authoritative voice on New Mexico United along with other New Mexico semi-professional soccer clubs (WPSL Albuquerque FC, MWC UNM Lobo Women’s Soccer, MASL2 NM Runners).

The 2022 Women’s Soccer College Cup is underway and the crew at Seek & Strike Collective put on a special live-cast of the match between Western Athletic Conference Tournament Winners, New Mexico State and South Eastern Conference side, Mississippi State.
Chris Walker and Patrick Baca finished their Women’s College Cup Bracket Picks on the previous episode. On this episode, Chris and Patrick watched the second 45 minutes of the match together taking a stab at play by play and color commentary. The results speak for themselves: some excitement, some letdown, and overall a good time. We’ll keep practicing this for future live-cast opportunities.

The 2022 Women’s Soccer College Cup has begun and the crew at Seek & Strike Collective are here to deliver their picks on every match from the First Round to the Championship Round.
Chris Walker and Patrick Baca connect early on Veteran’s Day to fill out their brackets together. During bracket chat, Patrick gives updates on the First Round Match between New Mexico State and Mississippi State that was on in the background. The first 45 minutes lasted the duration of this episode. Chris threw out some cupsets and Patrick had his own share. The two found themselves aligning on some of the picks throughout the Second and Third Rounds.
The First Round begins on 11/11 and ends on 11/13.

The United Soccer League Championship Playoffs didn’t last long for New Mexico United. The gang here at Seek & Strike Collective huddled together to talk more about United’s Playoff Identity as the season drew to a close at Heart Health Park on Saturday, October 22nd 2022.

If you’ve been listening to our 2022 episodes, you know that we like to start off with a nice cone of SoftServe. Tonight, we chatted on the long-awaited and didn’t know we were waiting for, McRib Sandwich. It’s the last big of nostalgia for October. Chris asked the gang about the last time they ate a McRib. The results won’t be shocking to you that none of us can remember the last time we had one. Before November kicks off, Chris is going to have the McRib. He’s proposed a new holiday, NO-stalgia November. He’ll try his hardest to dodge any November treats outside of the norm “In-N-Out” when he goes to visit the family for Thanksgiving. The gang learned about a new food, Honey’s Kettle from Veronica. It looked so good.
On this week’s edition of The Enchanted XI, Chris and Patrick give a season synopsis on Division II schools Eastern New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands as their season’s come to a close. They also talk about Division I schools University of New Mexico and New Mexico State, which have each now clinched a tournament berth into their respective conferences. UNM winning a share of the Mountain West Conference Title and being back-to-back-to-back Champions. Chris and Patrick will link up for a chat next week leading up to each Conference Final Match.
Lastly, Veronica rejoins Chris and Patrick to talk about New Mexico United’s Playoff results against Sacramento Republic. The gang listens to Zach Prince’s season ending presser and gives their takes on what he’s saying, try to guess who they think is staying and going, and try to predict United’s end of the season player awards. We’re not going anywhere. We’ll use some of the offseason to come up with content for the offseason.

On this episode, the gang at Seek & Strike Collective talk about “New Mexico’s Playoff Identity” as it was referred to by New Mexico United’s Head Coach Zach Prince.
Chris Walker and Veronica Zavala come up with eleven talking points heading into United’s playoff match against Sacramento. Patrick Baca didn’t join us for this recording as he was using his hall pass to chaperone Homecoming.
Chris and Veronica kick off the episode with SoftServe talking about McDonald’s latest nostalgia chase, McBoosDay, the launch of the 80’s Halloween Pails serving as the kid’s meal. A week after the Adult Happy Meal, McDonald’s is making something for the kids and the really older kids.
Next, they talk about United Soccer League’s latest news, Milwaukee is being awarded with an USL franchise to start in 2025. During that same conversation, Chris and Veronica recall the other locations to get a brand new USL team in the coming years to include Queensboro FC, Des Moines, IA, and Jacksonville, FL to name a few.
Lastly, Chris and Veronica talk about United’s Playoff Identity. They address everyone from Sacramento’s form, Danny Vitiello’s goalkeeping, team form, Neco Brett, and take their hand at guessing who is going to have a big game for New Mexico United.

New Mexico United clinched a playoff berth and the gang at Seek & Strike Collective got together to discuss it on this episode.
On this week’s edition of SoftServe, Patrick Baca and Veronica Zavala officially mark Chris Walker safe from not having a cellphone while vacationing in San Diego, California. Patrick shares how strange it was for him to not receive a text back, while Veronica recalls what it was like to be followed on Twitter by United’s Alexis Souahy in the midst of trying to figure out why Chris hadn’t contacted her in 3 hours following leaving late for the airport.
The Collective also snap out of the USL Regular Season bubble long enough to talk about the existence of the National Hockey League and National Basketball Association. It felt like an unofficial declaration of fandom at the top of the season so that they could all escape any future talks of riding a bandwagon. Chris tests out Nabisco’s new Oreo Cakesters and doesn’t bring enough for Patrica and Veronica.
Next on the episode, the gang check in on the latest happening in Qatar regarding the World Cup and talk about the Tampa Bay Rowdies/Monterrey alleged racism incident for a few. Patrick and Chris jump into a long-awaited episode of The Enchanted XI and catch up on the standings for each team by Conference and officially launch the Goal of the Month for September on Twitter. Later into the episode, Chris and Veronica talk about United’s recent form against San Diego Loyal and Los Angeles Galaxy 2 that lead to clinching the playoffs. The two riff on wanting to see more passion out of Head Coach Zack Prince, whom they argue has more a coach persona than a player who has won a championship in recent years. They talk about how it would be great to see more passion out of him on the pitch.

Seek & Strike Collective is back after a week off. We had plans to record on Wednesday following the Los Dos vs New Mexico United match, but as sports fate would have it, a weather delay would postpone those plans until Thursday night. This week’s podcast puts more emphasis on the more important issues circulating in soccer right now: HUMAN RIGHTS
On this episode, Chris and Patrick give you a little New Mexico United talk early in the episode. Shortly after, the two are onto other things like Adult Happy Meals, television shows too dark for tv (literally), the newly announced Leagues Cup.
The main focus of the episode focused on human rights. Chris and Patrick spent time talking about the Danish Men’s National Team and Hummel as their activism adventure unravels. This brings the guys to talk in depth about the Sally Yates Report findings that came out earlier this week. They were fired up. That’s really where they chose to end this week’s episode after returning from the first break. Verbal abuse, sexual misconduct, and any other abuse has no place in the game!

The Collective are back together on this week’s episode. On this week’s episode, Chris Walker and Patrick Baca get into the Conference Preview for The Enchanted XI and later in the episode, Veronica Zavala joins them on The Weekly discussion on New Mexico United.
But first, “Guess The Mystery Donut” takes center stage as Chris mentions that he ordered donuts via Door Dash and he wondered what the “Surprise Me” donut would end up being. Patrick and Veronica each try their hand at guessing what it would be.
The Collective shifted the conversation towards the release of the 2022 World Cup Kits for each Country and it was like an episode of “Wear This, Not That.” Patrick talks about his love for history, Veronica talks what caught her eye, and Chris felt like Guy Fieri was Argentina’s design inspiration. The conversation shifted to FIFA 23 and whether anyone was going to buy the game. Chris is committing to the purchase of the game, but he also bought 22 and never opened it. He plans to share his experience.
Chris and Patrick preview Conference play on this week’s edition of The Enchanted XI. Chris talks about Eastern New Mexico University and University of New Mexico’s schedules, key games, and Lobos Jadyn Edwards nomination for the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List. Edwards is one of 60 players up for being recognized as Top Women’s Collegiate Player of the Year. Patrick talks New Mexico State and New Mexico Highlands. They talk latest results, establishing The Enchanted XI Offensive/Defensive Player of the Week, Goal of the Month, and End of the Season All-Enchanted XI.
Lastly, the Collective talked about New Mexico United’s latest results at Toyota Field against top-table team, San Antonio FC. Surprisingly, the 1-1 Draw made for great round-table discussion on United’s playoff potential and some of Head Coach Zack Prince’s Zen may in fact have kept the yellow and black in the game. Finally, Chris and Veronica roll up their sleeves and dig into United’s latest run of form looking back at the last 5 matches talking about lineups they like and lineups that need some adjustment. Chris and Veronica talk about what they saw in Edinburg as United lost to the Rio Grande Valley Toros and drop their third match in a row. The two decode some of Head Coach Zack Prince’s wise words as it relates to approaching match strategy and the path to winning a championship. Lastly, Chris and Veronica talk San Antonio and the looming playoff picture for United.
