this episode was so much fun! Leslie Fear, author of the Graveyard Watchman trilogy and Atticus among other titles sits with me and shoots the shit. We talk about upcoming books, witchcraft, fangirl over each other a bit as well as our love for Hillbilly Horror Stories. Leslie was such a pleasure to have on, and offered so many interesting and valuable questions that I would've never thought to address!
This episode is definitely packed with a variety of stories. A flood legend, a massacre, a Baron of AZ, fraud, murder, treasure, bodies both with and without heads, and a secret order of Native Americans? there was so much here I couldn't even find the right background music to flow... sooooo enjoy the ride!

This week we'll talk about a few homicide cases that take place in and around my hometown of Girard Ohio. The first is the still-unsolved case of Lena Cross and her 2 children, Mason and Christian. Lena was stabbed multiple times in her home, then the house was set on fire in an attempt to cover up the crime. Her two children were asleep upstairs and died in their sleep from smoke inhalation. The second case is that of Corinne Gump, who lived 5 of her 10 short years enduring sexual abuse from her mother's boyfriend, Robert Seman Jr. The day before she was to testify against him, the home she was staying in with her grandparents was set on fire, killing everyone inside. And lastly, we talk about the most recent case, the death, and dismemberment of Shannon Graves. She was murdered by her boyfriend Arturo Novoa, and her body was dismembered and disposed of by him, his other girlfriend Katrina Layton, and 2 friends Andrew Herrmann and his wife Michelle Ihlenfeld.

There's a legend here in Northern Ohio of a fire at an orphanage that killed more than 100 children. The grounds where this tragedy supposedly occurred are reportedly haunted with the spirits of these children. How much of this is true? Is the story of Gore Orphanage one of fact? The Ohio State Reformatory aka the Mansfield Reformatory has changed a lot over the years, from its storied past to current haunts, this prison has sure seen a lot in its days, even after being closed for almost 30 years.
